Delicious! I order delivery and dine in regularly, their brick oven makes the most exquisite pizza crust and poofy bread that comes with the stracciatella! I love eating outside in the summer and the warm cozy indoor vibes in the winter. The chocolate gelato is to die for. Great service to boot!

Wow the ambiance and food were on point. The view of skyline is gorgeous. Outdoor eating was perfect. Music was nice and calming. The sopresatta pizza was on the larger side and absolutely one of the best I've had. Spicy and delicious. The basil on top elevated it. Servers were cool. Price alittle steep but that's everywhere in Brooklyn. Portions big. This is my new favorite spot! Idk if they will have mulled wine in the fall but it would be perfect if they do!!

I've now been to Hoek three times, which is: 1. Enough times that I believe I've eaten almost everything on the menu. 2. Not enough times considering how much I love it, and that it's been here for years. I can report that the menu is tight, and amazing. The pizza is obviously the main draw, and any combination they have (or that you can dream up) is delicious. I have friends who weren't into the gorgonzola/potato pie, or thought that the anchovies were too strong on the pie with capers and olives...I'm into all of it. I'm into every single pizza they have. That said, do not sleep on the specials. Right now it's tomato season, and the jersey tomato bruschetta is ridiculously tasty. The stracciatella they serve alongside a big ball of pizza crust? Incredible. I also love that their sandwiches are also on top of pizza crust, and the porchetta is BANANAS. Salads are also good if you're into that sort of thing. I like the radicchio/avocado/pistachio situation. And the cocktails are surprisingly high quality, even if we keep drinking wine for the ease of it. What's even better about all this amazing food is that their service is super accommodating with the absurdly large group I keep showing up with, AND you get to eat it all on the airy patio right off a cobblestoned Red Hook street. One of the nicest outdoor tables in Brooklyn, truly. After you stuff your faces in the sunshine, you can take your stupid kids over to the Valentino Pier while the sun sets, and realize life isn't so bad. Don't let them play on the little beach over there though, that sand is toxic because of the runoff from the Gowanus canal.

What a great place . Great bar great atmosphere. Celebrated a birthday there and loved it. Pizza was amazing! Drinks were delicious . Looking forward to going back in the summer

I went here one evening and loved the interior. It was a nicely dim lit place. I had a glass of wine and the jersey tomato bruschetta. I honestly did not love the sliced tomato because it made it hard to eat. The flavor itself was very good.

Love it here! We ordered two pizzas, two appetizers, and two drinks and everything was delicious! The service was excellent got seated at our tables rather quickly. The restaurant was warm due to the pizza oven which we loved.

Great pizzas! The crust was thin, surprisingly doughy, and cooked well. Hidden in Red Hook, this restaurant looks a bit rustic from the outside but transforms into a modern NYC pizza bar as you walk in. It was packed on this warm Friday night but we were able to get a table for 2 after a short 5 min wait. The place was a bit short staffed but they were quick to take our orders and bring food and drinks

Absolutely delicious and unique. We went here dressed in our Halloween costumes after the Barnacle parade and sat outside. It was pretty mild out and we always prefer to sit outside if we can. I've never been here but it's right down the street from my daughter and she and the family have been here and had pizza from here several times. My daughter Jane ordered several pizzas. There were six of us and I believe she ordered seven or eight pizzas. I thought it was extreme until they were served and I tried one. I should've remembered it was that beautiful thin crust New York pizza. You can certainly more than that then other pizzas. The toppings were fresh and delicious and so unique. We all shared the pizzas and tried them all. Wonderful and I can't wait to go back.

A nice little Brooklyn excursion: get some bikes and ride out to Hoek for some pies and Italian soda. If you ask, they might have chinotto, my new favorite soft drink, made with bitter orange. The pizza is high temperature southern Italian, not the New York standard. The dough is chewy and delicious. The toppings fresh. Overall well executed. Service was decent. Staff is generally amiable. Been there twice now and have not been disappointed. Looking forward to returning.

A special... ask for it by picture.

Sweet corn flavor too eventually switching over to more spicy flavors from the run in the late flavor and during the finish. Staff was quick, friendly, and helpful. There was one single occupancy restroom. Dynamic atmosphere. Huge sprawling windows allowing plenty of breeze and sunlight when opened. I ordered the Rye Tea Punch ($16) while the boyfriend got the 10 Year Old Fashioned ($16). It was so cute how my drink came in a little clear teacup, which was a nice touch. The only thing that was disappointing was the slow service. We had asked for the check, but it never came around after waiting 15 minutes. We had reservations to get to, so the delay was annoying. I ended up walking up to the bartender to close out the tab since we never got our check.

Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, I tapped my ruby red Crocs and landed in the Red Hook waterfront on a HHH day. NY Mag offered a free 7 ounce beer of my choice. I was also going to order food. However, Truman explained that " on weekends the pop up food markets are here or patrons bring food to picnic". He suggested Red Hook Kitchenette to purchase sandwiches and bring it back and dine here. ( which I did, see separate review for RHK). I asked for suggestions on an IPA that is citrusy and he suggested the Hazy IPA Wolf in the Garden. WITG has hints of tropical fruit, stone fruit and orange peels. An IPA Fawn approved. They serve beer, cider, wine and spirits. The interior is rustic with wood tables, soft lighting and just a chill beer. The outside picnic tables face the waterfront and Lady Liberty, what a view! Sipping my beer in the sweet sunshine. I am falling in love with NY crafted beer and IPA. Strong Rope will become a Fawn fave fast. Many thanks to Truman who is friendly, has extensive beer knowledge and made a great lunch suggestion. Cheers!

I went to the Food Bazaar grocery a block or two away and got a sandwich from their deli to bring to the brewery. Next door is a cidery, I think a different owner. Outrageously expensive ($17 for a small glass of cider? lol). Stick to strong rope! Cozy, old-school Italian vibes, staff speaking Italian like they're judging you lovingly, and Negronis that'll make you rethink every bad decision you've ever made at a bar. No leftovers. Bar Mario isn't trying to be trendy. It's just confident, timeless, and quietly excellent. It's not a huge restaurant (so I would make a reservation): a few 2- and 4-seat high tops, maybe 6 or 7 tables, and a bar with about 10 seats. But the environment is warm and cozy, with low lighting and music loud enough to enjoy, soft enough to have conversations with your party, the bartender, or whoever else. The servers are all excellent. Very charming and friendly. They check in often, but not in an intrusive way. I've also seen the owner walking around, greeting customers, and talking with his staff. He's always around, and he's a friendly presence. There's such a great neighborhood vibe here - there are definitely some regulars here, and it helps create a homey atmosphere. The food here is outstanding. I have not had a bad dish here. The Caesar salad is actually made with several long stalks of romaine, so it stays crisp. The meatballs come with polenta around the plate, and it is fantastic. I've also had the hangover spaghetti (excellent) and the lasagna (amazing). Their calamari also has a few shrimp and (I think) some bay scallops, so that's a great addition. And their cocktails are outstanding - potent but flavorful. I don't get a chance to go to Red Hook much, but when I do, I definitely want to stop here. It's on the "main road" of Red Hook, and there are definitely some cute shops and coffee places around, and of course, there's Ikea not too far. This restaurant, though, deserves your business.
