This is the cutest little taproom I've been to in awhile. I stumbled upon in walking around Grandview and I'm so glad I do because it's one of my new favorite spots! The inside is really tiny but the outside area is where it's at. They had a live band performing and have a schedule for almost everyday this summer . The vibe was casual, family-oriented, and fun. This is our go to place for a growler of local brew. I love going in and checking out what they have on tap. The bartender is always friendly and knowledgeable. I get super excited if the owner John is behind the bar slinging beers. He is such a kind man. He is so good that he seems to remember my fiancé and I every time we stop in. Now whether he really does or not is a mystery, but if he does not he is really good at acting like it. I love the thought of supporting him. They have approximately 20 taps and only offer Ohio beers on tap, which I love. I am a big proponent of supporting local so Ohio Tap Room lines up well. We always get a sample of a couple of the beers to help us narrow down which growlers we will choose. They are happy to allow us to try whatever we need to make a good decision. On our most recent trip we went with a growler of Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes Stout and Decorative Gourd Pumpkin Ale from Seventh Son. Both were a phenomenal compliment for our socially distanced pumpkin carving day!!! Thank you Ohio Tap Room for always serving up good brews and kindness. I hung out here with a group of friends on a hot Saturday afternoon. I was really impressed with the atmosphere, service, and beer selection! There's not much room inside, so I'm not sure what it's like when busy, but our group filled up three place. Love the decor, so many new beers to try, they have wine and cocktails for my wife. There's also a patio, but doesn't seem to get much shade during a summer day that I could tell. When I'm in the neighborhood, I'd make it a point to stop in here again! read more

Great selection of local beers! This is a cool little corner establishment. They have an ever-changing variety of beers and ciders from local breweries. You can get growlers which they refill using some pretty interesting contraptions. There is a small amount of seating, and they allow dogs in as well. I visit a nearby camera shop when in Columbus, and we often stop in here to get some beer to take back and have with pizza later. read more

The place where I failed dry January and was not mad about it one bit. How was I supposed to order the burgers at smash brothers burgers and not have a sip. The bartender was real chill and attentive. We easily got a spot at the bar, and he helped us get started on ordering on the app, let us sample a beer and helped us choose a good one. One of my favorite local spots in Grandview! It's a little on the small side inside with only room for 10-15 people or so given the seating restrictions with COVID (have to be seated to have a drink), which they are following appropriately. But I think that is part of the charm and homey feel of the place! Not to mention, they allow dogs inside too! One of the few places around that does. My dog loved all the attention and the treats from the bartender. Everytime I've gone we've gotten great, friendly service from the bartenders. If the weather is nice, they also have a fairly large patio with at least ~5 tables. They almost always have a food truck outside or are more than welcoming to you bringing over a grandads pizza from across the street. We will be back- frequently! read more

We have lived in Grandview for two years now. All this time, I have been saying that I wanted to stop here and have a pint. My neighbor and I stopped in after we got together and decided for a couple pints. The taproom is what you would expect for a local watering hole; friendly server, A local couple that's always there, the parents that stop in for a quick pint or to take some medicine home to deal with home school, and a young couple out for the evening. I can imagine that the crowd will be larger once Covid is over, there was plenty of space for us to move about and talk at a normal level without screaming. We were there for a couple hours, totally enjoyed the place. What I found interesting was there was a basket full of foreign money. I cannot wait to add a Swiss franc to the mix. read more

The place is very small, but it has a cool vibe. They do, however, have a nice size patio so that makes this place a better bar for warm weather. They are also very dog friendly so if you are allergic I'd suggest staying away. I have never been to the Taproom and not seen a dog inside it. This is my favorite place to grab a pint in Columbus. I never have to wonder if the beers on tap are going to be delicious because they always are. My wife and I are always in search of places we can bring our doggo out with us because he's such a good boy and loves meeting new people. We found Ohio Tap Room through bringfido.com and we called to confirm our four-legged buddy was in fact allowed to enter. We were also told that they didn't have a menu for food, but a delicious burger truck adjacent (and they were not underselling that in the least!) but it was first come first seated for indoor spots. Cool cool. We show up and they have a nice outside area with a fire pit and a tented area for dining, but it was 15° and the idea of eating outside was not appealing. We did happen to find a few spaces inside and the patrons were all super welcoming to our buddy, and gave him plenty of head rubs and butt scratches making his night. Great tap selections, especially if you like local/regional brews and porters. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that I felt like I was in a mosh pit while eating and drinking. I'm not huge on confined spaces, and it was described to me on the phone as if there was ample seating both indoors and out. Definitely a place we'll revisit in the warmer weather with the outdoor seating and our buddy, Fez, but not ideal for cold weather dining. One last note, these guys did save the day for us by being open and allowing pups as we had originally gone to Brewdog in Franklinton, but as they were involved with restaurant week, had no availability until after 8. read more

I came to the Ohio Taproom for the first time ever looking for a draft beer on a day that couldn't have been going worse. I had been spending time at OSU medical center and I wasn't exactly in a great mood. Not knowing anything about the place, I was unhappy to find out that they didn't sell pints of beer but just did growler fills. I explained to the person working there (later introduced himself as John) that I didn't really want a growler fill and was just looking for a draft of my new favorite beer, Hoof Hearted's South of 11. To add insult to injury, the Hoof Hearted South of 11 had just blown, and he did not have another keg in the back (he double checked the delivery hadn't arrived). I have a BUNCH of growlers (at home), didn't have one with me and I let John know I wasn't really interested in buying a new growler. No problem, maybe some beer would improve your outlook? John suggested that I might have a few samples of his Ohio beers that he had on tap, maybe get a fill when I had one of my growlers with me. Over the course of the next 45 minutes (and 4 samples of Ohio beer that I had not tried before), I think we discussed every beer he had on tap, our favorite breweries and a few other topics. It was a great interaction and really took my mind off an otherwise crappy day. I didn't ever feel pressured to buy anything, or that I was anything other than welcome to hang out there and ask questions. John explained to me how his pressure fill system worked (I haven't seen another one in Columbus) and let me take a closer look when I expressed interest. It's really cool and WILL keep your growlers fresher longer. This is how they fill growlers at Hill Farmstead. As our conversation carried on, John took care of several other customers, offering samples, making suggestions, and pretty much doing everything you want the guy working at your growler shop to do. At some point, it occurred to me that I had a clean, stainless steel, 40oz wide mouth Klean Kanteen in my car. Maybe I would get some Head Hunter if John thought he could fill it. It turned out, it wouldn't work with the pressure fill, but John was able to provide an expert fill from the standard tap system. I ended up having an amazing dinner with a canteen full of nice fresh beer. It really could not have been a better experience. Not only does the place have an excellent assortment of beers, but John knows what he is talking about, he is friendly, engaging and helpful. Really made my day. They have cute string lights, and also a nice fire pit. They don't serve food here, but they sometimes have a good truck in their parking lot so you can grab a quick bite. There's also a pizza place across the street so you could order a pizza and bring it back to Taproom to enjoy with your drinks. 10/10 would recommend checking this place out. read more

In addition to great Ohio beers, they also have soda from Rambling house and a variety of Ohio snacks. The Ohio Tap room is one of the best local spots in Grandview/Columbus. I have stopped by for a few beers over the last year and really enjoyed the bartenders and service. The patio is also a hit when it's warm. The beer selection is always Ohio and always amazing with a variety around 20-25 beers. It's small inside, funky, yet cozy; surrounded by previous beer taps, stickers and local Ohio products. The most recent time I came here I did a free tasting with the owner and Columbus Young Professionals. He was awesome! Really let us try a wide variety and was very knowledgeable on beers and the community. The building used to be a barber shop which is pretty cool and he gave us a low down on future developments, the process of filling the perfect growler/the machines and then answered all of my random questions I had for him. This experience gave me more of an appreciation for the local business and reminded me how many good beers he has on tap over there from Ohio. If you haven't definitely check this place out. This place is just what the doctor ordered. A group of us were in town to see a game at the Shoe, from around the country, and wanted a chill place to pregame and get a taste of local brews. We ended up having great beers from around the state and making friends along the way. I wish I could remember the bartenders name as he did an amazing job (maybe this is why I can't remember? ;)) hanging out with us and even gave us a list of recommended places to check out during our stay. Now it seems to be more of a sit down and enjoy a couple beers kinda place which I love! They had quite the array of beers on tap and some more hard to find beers as well. I could have posted up there all day and had a few different beers off their menu but stopped at just one. You can get a sample of anything for 75 cents. A big plus that it's legibly posted on their price-blackboard. The Paul hard cider was decent. Tones of apple (of course), decent taste. The Sarsaparilla soda was too weak of a taste for my buds. Heads-up: this taproom is quite small. If your coming with a group, they have a large patio area. Perfect. Sorry Ohio Taproom. Big on beer not so much on service. You'd think being a brand spankin' new business in the yummy beer business, that you's have it together a little more when it comes to acknowledging your customers, sharing your time at the counter, and answering questions with enthusiasm. I have visited my new neighborhood growler fill four times since they have opened, each time, still in dismay that I seem to be a nuisance. I have repeatedly waited for service with a 2:1 employee to customer ratio, because.......??? I didn't have my hipster hat on at the time? Am female, and brought my own growler with someone else's name on it? Don't know, but regardless, not being acknowledged multiple times upon entrance, while employees stand by leaning over the counter apparently enthralled by ravishing conversation already taking place, is a turn off to say the least. So, as I stood at the counter felling awkward with my own growler in hand, watching the conversation like a wall flower, I shimmied over a bit and interrupted to see if I could scare up a menu (no one had offered one to me, belly up to the bar with all of one other customer in the place). I was slid the menu, with no eye contact. Twice. The third and fourth times, I was given the menu and then ignored as it was pie day Friday and employees had more important things to do than sell beer. Pie and beer? I proceeded to make a nuisance of myself by asking questions about the floral tones of the two belgians on tap, asked to sample a few etc. Standard. I was given flat responses as I stood at the counter (once by myself, and twice with my fiancé) again awkwardly, sipping my sample and waiting not so patiently for my "server" to catch a break in in his conversation with another customer. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. The third and fourth time were out of pure desperation for good, cold frothy beer. All done Ohio Taproom. Fail. P.S. What I love about the Ohio Tap Room is it's fun interior, nice staff, and great atmosphere. What makes it even better is the alien style CO2 special growler filling system they have. It fills the growler with CO2 before the beer starts flowing so your beer can stay in the unopened growler from up to 3 months and stay fresh. That's better staying power than any other growler fill in the city. Who cares? I do. I am not a big beer drinker so, sometimes I see a beer I want that's not usually on tap anywhere else and Ohio Tap room has it. I can buy it now and don't have to drink it win 4 days before it goes flat. It stays nice a bubbly in my fridge. Prices are fine and their growlers are attractively logo-ed. They also sell fun and yummy local items AND sometimes have a food truck out front. There's two couches for sitting inside, but it's not a place to hang out all day. More of your grab and go spot. So if you love good beer and to talk about good beer this is the place you have always wanted! My friend and I stopped in after dinner and they were almost at closing time but they stayed open! They really did not have to do that, but it is just a sign of how of this place operates. Fantastic beer selection, great prices, excellent specials (follow them on social media to see the specials), and a knowledgeable staff who has a passion for beer. Have never had a bad experience! A small, but cozy, seating area surrounds the equally small bar. There is a large-ish seating area just outside the front doors which appears to be dog friendly (i.e. there was a dog out there). Inside there was a lone bartender. Luckily, he knew his stuff and had personality to boot. I enjoyed a nice chat with him about the beers that were on tap while basking in the chilly air conditioning. I had friends who were hanging out on the park benches in front so I did have to venture into the heat. I was worried that, since the taproom is located on a corner of a couple very busy streets, it would be way too loud. However, it most of the time it wasn't loud at all so my friends and I could chat/goof off/eat pastries/stare at clouds/etc... in relative peace and quiet. Now, for the beers, they do have a wide selection of beers on tap here. Mostly Ohio and/or regional breweries. There was some unusual ones which I'd never had before and the tastings were decently sized and decently priced. You can also order half glasses here, which (IMO) is a great thing for a place with a varied selection. That way, if you're feeling adventurous, you only have to suffer through 6oz of something you regret. All-in-all, I enjoyed my brief visit here and look forward to wandering back in again on some hot summer day. read more

I'm a big fan of what the Ohio Taproom is selling. The model of this place is local, high-quality Ohio products with the focus being Ohio-made beers. I walked in to a friendly guy behind the counter (whose name I have forgotten) and was welcomed and handed a menu with the current offerings. I've seen the negative reviews here about poor customer service, and can say that these were not at all reflective of my experiences during my first visit. I filled up my non-Ohio Taproom growler, which they gladly poured with Bodhi. They could have easily made an 'our growler only' rule when they opened, which would have definitely taken away from the allure. I liked the other local products on the shelves, and I would really like to see more. There is big potential for this place. read more
