Great little spot for a beer and cigar!! Good rotating selection on draft and tons of cigars to try at each visit. The service is on point! Shannon and Brandon have a vast knowledge of the beers and cigars. They're always up to chat and still learning. Great atmosphere and spot to watch SD soccer!!

The long awaited remodel of Hoffers is now here - and the time away was WELL deserved. A gorgeous, comfortable, and spacious interior with an IMMENSE catalog of cigars, beers, and wines alike.

I'm so glad public square stepped in to reopen this hidden gem in LM! Great beer selection and cellar collection. Check out some of these mikeller beers from years ago that you won't be able to find anywhere now that they left. Service was great and the beer tenders are super knowledgeable. Ambiance hasn't changed much from 2020 much(that was a long time ago) but the beer and cigar selection speaks for itself.

I'm always looking for a good spot to enjoy some craft brews and I found one here at Hoffer's. I've passed by this place a ton of times but never really recognized it as a cigar bar. I've seen it a few times on Yelp and thought were is this place? So finally I decided to GPS this place and see what it's about. I've never been to a cigar bar so I didn't know what to expect but as I walk in the middle of two rooms full of cigars there is a small bar to your right. It's pretty dark inside which I like because low lights are relaxing to me. I don't smoke so I just came here for the craft beers but I may smoke a cigar to see what's up. There is a nice size beer menu with a lot from local brewery's. I came across two bar tenders and both were cool in their own way. They don't have any food or snacks but you can bring your own but I just grab something from the liquor store next door. There is a back patio where you can drink, eat and smoke. It's not a huge patio but it's not tiny either so don't come here with a group of ten. I like this little spot and can see myself here more often.

Waitress was very kind and got us menus. It's a pretty straight forward menu with breakfast and lunch on one side and dinner on the other. I think it's all reasonably priced the only small complaint is burgers do not come with fries or onion rings and they are a $4.50 add on making most of the burger meals $15 plus. But I understand the current market is making things go up. My burger was delicious and cooked well. I got my eggs over easy and they did it perfectly. The jalapeño burger was good nothing crazy to write about though. The buffalo fries were delicious; it comes with blue cheese crumble and dip on the side which is perfect. Also bacon crumpled over the fries. Everything overall was great and for 2 people it was $60 total. Great bar/restaurant to grab a bite in and watch he game and support local business!

This is a long way of saying that I know I'm talking about when it comes to sushi, and konnichiwa has managed to get consistent. excellent praise from Me and those I've frequented this sushi stop with. I love it, and I would love to explain why it's one of my top three recommended sushi stops in all of San Diego County. First, the location is fun and the eclectic. It's fairly easy to find parking near downtown La Mesa; even if you have to walk a block or two, the price is more than worth it. While the restaurant can get busy, service is excellent, there are good indoor and outdoor accommodations, and the staff is efficient along with being friendly and helpful, so even on a busy day you won't have to wait too long. The menu selections are great, and they have only improved with time; for example, during my last visit, they had added more drinks to the menu, along with a special team menu that included a new selection of poke bowls, which were wonderful; the best I've had yet, extremely fresh, flavorful, and generous! Although the prices are on the higher end, the majority of it is reasonable, especially for the quality that you get. Overall, I cannot recommend konnichiwa enough! There are really only one or two other sushi spots that can rival this hidden gem in the county; it is well worth the visit.

I personally am not a fan of cream cheese or mayo in my rolls but if you are, they have about 25 different combos and you can personalize them if you're not a fan like me. We ordered the fried oysters, rainbow roll, the rhino and the Tiger roll. I had them put the chipotle mayo on the side with the tiger roll. Everything was fresh and delicious, and my husband loved the fried oysters. We washed it all down with a glass of what I really wouldn't call champagne, but it went down OK with the sushi, along with some delicious beautifully chilled Nigori sake. Yes, since I'm a local, I'll be back.

It's uncluttered and easy to navigate, and products are intelligently arranged so you don't have to spend your time trying to find the things you want. Amanda and Nicole were outstanding in their attentiveness, and we had a lovely time. At this point, easily 4 stars. We sat down at the bar for their Happy Hour until 7pm. We asked for the specials, and were handed two menus, the happy hour menu and the Wednesday special menu. Prices ranged, on the happy hour menu, from $8 - $12. There were no prices displayed on the second menu, which we-- mistakenly-- assumed to be in line with the happy hour specials for the day. We didn't ask, our mistake, and were given no guidance to suggest otherwise. My wife ordered, on top of our other happy hour options, a cobb salad that was part of their Wednesday specials. We didn't touch it during our meal, and opted to box it up so that she could take it to work the next day. We then went and perused their fantastic dessert, candy and gelato sections-- ordering a couple of scoops and a slice of blueberrry pie-- and then asked for our check. When we received our bill, that salad, on special, was billed at $22. We called that into question, since there had never been a price disclosed and this was wildly inconsistent with their other prices. Neither Nicole or Amanda were empowered to do anything about this, so they called their manager, Kyrstin (could be Keirstin or any other spelling). As we were standing at the counter, rather than offering a solution, Kyrstin told them that she was on her way and to have us stay. I responded that I had no interest in waiting for her manager to drive up to the store, and that we were just returning the untouched salad. It's not lost on me that this was an uncool move, but so was an undisclosed $22 charge on a salad supposedly part of their special menu. I told Amanda-- a wonderful server-- that we didn't have time to wait and asked her to get the manager on the phone. She did, and Kyrstin proceeded to tell me that I was screwing a small business by even asking, and that I should have asked about the price prior to ordering. She's not wrong, in retrospect, but the price probably should have been on the written menu that we were provided. This is not a country club where a specials menu prices might be hidden from the guests of the host (but always disclosed to the host). She hung up abruptly with the server, saying she was there, and walked up to the counter saying "the fact that I even had to come in to deal with this...," at which point I cut her off. She didn't need to come in to deal with anything. This was an easy customer service exchange and the fact that she felt she needed to drive back up to the restaurant (should she have still been there to begin with?) to argue with customers was shocking. It was a hostile exchange back and forth, with me saying that I would be happy to pay the entire $104 dollar bill, but that I would dispute the difference with my credit card company. We had already returned the packaged salad, which had been taken by the staff. I imagine that she would say that I talked over her; I would assert the same of her. It was not a nice exchange. The thing is, I have been in this business for almost as long as I've been alive. I've been a restauranteur or a GM for more than 30 years. Here's what I know: when a customer is not satisfied, you do not argue. We weren't asking for anything free. We weren't trying to game the system. We were saying, "Sorry, at this price, we never would have ordered this salad. The price should have been disclosed." We said that repeatedly. Kyrstin finally relented and discounted the salad. She also said that I was banned from coming back. Too bad. Their gelato was fantastic; my wife thought their fried pickles to be first rate. They combined their garlic and habanero sauces on our wings, and they were spicy and delicious. The one and only issue we had was a manager that doesn't understand what hospitality means. Customer service is the number one, most important part of running any restaurant, and she should not, in my opinion, be a manager of a restaurant. Her presence lessened the Centifonti's brand.
