We hired Hogan Fence to do our fence and I must say if I could give more stars I would! Steve came with his son and started our project and finished super fast and made it look fantastic. They used the best materials to make the fence look good and be sturdy. We did shop around prior to hiring Hogan Fence and they had most reasonable prices compared to all the other companies! All other companies seem like they were out to just rip you off. Hogan Fence does great work! They are honest and kind people whom you can genuinely trust. I had one great experience with Steve and then a second terrible one. The first time Steve came out, he did a great job building a fence along the right side of the backyard on a hill. I called him again about a 1.5 years later to do the left side and fixing a gate. He ended up getting injured so it took months for him to do it, which I was fine waiting on given how well he did the first side. He was a bit more difficult to work with the second time around, but did the job. Then a couple of months later, the gate started to get stuck again (same issue that I hired him to fix). I reached out to Steve who came out to take a look. He wanted to charge me $60 to "fix" it -- which I didn't think was appropriate. He then said there is no guarantee for his work and insinuated it was my fault that the gate wasn't working. I ended up getting someone else to fix it, who showed me all of the reasons that it was getting stuck again which were things Steve should have fixed in the first place. Unfortunately, I won't be using Steve's services again. read more

I found Hogan Fence on Yelp and was pleased to find a local company with great reviews. I called and left a message including a brief description of my project and also left my name and phone number. I stated my phone number twice, for clarity, as sometimes a voicemail message can get garbled at the most in opportune times! After waiting a couple weeks and not receiving a call back from anyone at Hogan, I moved on and found another service provider from Yelp to complete my project. I don't really know how great Hogan Fence is, because no one ever called back. It would have been ideal to get a call back, even if they weren't interested in taking on my project or were too busy to take on a new job. Instead, I wasted a couple weeks waiting for a return call, which never happened. To be clear, this review is based on their customer service and not receiving a return call. It is not based on their quality of work as I have no knowledge of that. Post Review Comment: A response to my Yelp review was left by Steve at Hogan Fence stating a return call was made to me stating Glendale is not in their service area. Although I live in Glendale, the property I was hoping to engage his services for is a rental in Pasadena, and I provided that location in my initial voicemail message. Hogan Fence is listed as being based in Pasadena. I never mentioned being in Glendale as that was irrelevant to my request. I called Hogan fence for a quote to replace the current fence. Steve responded to me very quick. He was very friendly and very professional. Eventually, I decided not to replace the current fence for now and let it hold for a few more year. The rickety fence between us and our neighbor started to fall apart in the last windstorm. The other owner was completely unresponsive, but Steve came out and advised us how to put up a new fence on our side of the property line, and did it himself for a good price. This is a review for Steve himself, since we decided against using him for our fencing needs. In short, Steve was the bad archetype of a contractor: rude, conceited, and uninterested in the work. Steve was nice enough on our initial call, and quoted us $1700-1800 for the project. This was approximately what we wanted to spend, so we brought Steve out for a detailed bid. That is where our good experience ended. Steve was rude. He told us he was sooo busy and that his phone was ringing off the hook with projects. He really made it seem like he did not care about taking on our project. We asked him questions about doing some other work for us, and he seemed annoyed instead of pleased that he could have a much bigger project from us. In the end, he gave us a bid for double what he had said on the phone, and had no justification. My boyfriend had to chase Steve down in his car to ask how we could work to bring cost down (wood type, orientation, stains) and Steve would not get out of his car to talk, scribbled some illegible notes on the bid about changing wood direction, and told us he had Other projects he needed to go to. We would Never hire a contractor who was so indifferent about working with us, and who doesn't "need" our project. Look elsewhere! read more

Used Steve to repair a broken fence post in a very challenging place. The wood rotted underground but actually removing that post to replace was not possible without removing huge parts of the fence.
