    Cozy ambience

Sort of a homely feel at this place. Love the simplicity of the place. Ordered soy pork nachos for starters. Great quantity and nice soy vegan meatless toppings. Loved the flavors. They can add little extra sauce though or a dip on the side. The southern meal had nicely done mac and cheese. My heart went gaga over the hibiscus rose herb tea. Must try.

Southern Delight along with a side of chilli cheese fries

I had been meaning to check out The Hogtown Vegan for quite some time and I finally did with some of my friends. Everything on their menu comes out fresh and hot! I decided to go with the Southern Delight along with a side of chilli cheese fries. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love chicken! The Hogtown does it even better! Their breaded and fried unChicken is better than real chicken and their mac 'n cheese is absolutely creamy and delightful. It comes with a side of BBQ sauce which is an excellent touch to their unChicken! I highly recommend checking this place out!

Firstly don't get the impression that the food here is healthy because it's vegan. About 60% of the menu is deep fried. I ordered the brunch French toast, It was literally dripping in oil. I mentioned it to the waiter, He didn't apologize or offer to bring me anything else or give me a discount. They're obviously cooking it in oil at the wrong temperature. I wasn't impressed with the service, It was one of those I'm doing you a favor by serving you situations.

We stumbled upon this charming vegan restaurant. And sure glad we did. This place is amazing for its simplicity. The staff was very nice - friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. We shared the vegan chicken wings and vegan chilly fries! Both were absolutely delicious. If you have dietary restrictions, and enjoy plant base food, this location is one to try.

Nachos, southern combo, buffalo "wings" (5 pieces)

It was my first time here and it was way better than I expected! My boyfriend and I dined on a Saturday evening around 7pm and it wasn't all that busy. We ordered the buffalo wings (5 pieces), nachos, the southern combo and deep friend cookie dough to share. They were all amazing, our favourite were the buffalo wings. I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese too, I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. The portions for the mains like the southern combo and Mac and cheese on its own are pretty large, we definitely recommend ordering different plates to share so you can try all the populars. The fried cookie dough was really good too! I think the ice cream was coconut flavour but it tasted amazing. We were super full and satisfied after all that food. We both recommend this place and we're not even vegans!

I have been to their Bloor location multiple times, so when I heard that they opened a new location of college I had to go and check it out. Same menu as the Bloor location, same greenish walls. This place has a patio but I'm writing this review on December so needless to say I didn't get to check it out. I asked the waiter if they had any secret menu items, he suggested the "Un-chicken Popeye". I was expecting a vegan version of Popeye's fried chicken, but it was more like a chicken pot pie with gravy on top (Pot pie, not Popeye!). I'm not complaining, it was delicious! Even better was the side of mac and cheese that came with it. Overall great experience, I'm glad to see more vegan restaurant opening in Toronto.

Open seating, we were one of two tables. There's an awesome patio for warmer weather I hope I get to one day enjoy. The menu is expansive and all vegan. They also offer beer and mixed drinks. Dry rub Cajun wings with dill ranch (9/10): Love the dry rub, a nice change of pace from the sauce covered wings. They're crunchy and huge! The dill ranch is the perfect blend, not too thick (like some ranch can be) Phish n Chips (9/10): That batter is...wow! I wish my chick'n was done up like that. The tartar sauce was on point, and none of it was too fishy. Just the perfect crunch and flavors. Unchicken Burger (9/10): Hi, I want this bun to move in and never leave me. The rest of the sandwich is great too, but I need more of that bun in my life. The party was crispy, the pickle was fresh, and the Mayo was just enough without going overboard. Spicy Espresso Brownie (10/10): I'm not usually a brownie fan, but this may have been the best I've ever had. Crisp edges yet so soft in the middle. The caramel sauce drizzle takes this up a notch. But the thing that makes this a perfect 10 is the oat milk ice cream. Sorry, but oat milk is the new black. I'm furious I chose to share this with my partner, a choice that will haunt my dreams.

    Vegan poutine

I've been here a couple of times with my friend who's vegan. I'm not vegan so I was a little skeptical about some Of the menu items. Out of everything I tried so far, the poutine was definitely one of the best I've had in Toronto! The other items are good, loved the Mac and cheese as well. I think if I decide to come back it'll be for the poutine only. But otherwise it's a great option for vegans! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and the service was wonderful!

Chili "cheese" home fries, with a side of fried unchicken
    Joy H.

A quiet vegan restaurant with cool retro diner vibes. We got the chili "cheese" home fries, with a side of fried unchicken, and an omelet with chefs salad, with a side of guacamole. The home fries were quite...burnt. It wasn't crispy at all--it was actually quite flaccid--so I'm not sure how it managed to still be so charred. The fries also felt like they were old or left out for a while, as they weren't particularly warm and had that "next day fries" sort of texture. On the other hand, the unchicken was quite nice! If you are a fan of tofu, like me, then you will enjoy it. It's a lightly battered piece of tofu with good seasoning. If you aren't a tofu person, perhaps stay away from the unchicken--it's quite tofu-like. The omelet was, of course, not actually egg and had a tofu-like taste. Unfortunately, it felt very bland. The mushroom filling was nice but the omelet itself felt a little sad. The salad and guacamole was...well it was salad and guacamole, not much needs to be said. Perhaps it was the dishes we ordered, but this place sort of disappointed me as a vegan restaurant. I'm not vegan, but I sort of expected tastier food? Also, I feel like the cheese substitute they used did not sit well with me, so I'll have to give this place a pass on a second go.

    Mac and "cheese"

One of my closest friends recently became a vegan, and while I'm not vegan, I am happy to dine in a vegan restaurant whenever I spend time with her. She lives in BC right now, but was in town for a short visit this past weekend. I had made a note of some vegan spots to take her to, and she was super excited about this one in particular. We decided to get a few different items to share so that we could try more items. I don't have much experience with vegan substitutes like "cheese" or "chicken", so I cannot compare with anything. However, I know what I like and what tastes good to me, vegan or not. We started with the fried shiitake mushrooms and a side of mac & cheese. The mushrooms were delicious. In fact, we were tempted to get a second order, but we refrained because we wanted to try more items. The mac & "cheese" was good, but the flavour of the vegan cheese was a bit strange for me. My friend said that when you stop eating regular cheese, the vegan stuff starts to taste better after a while. I didn't dislike it, it was just different. We also got the unchicken & waffles and the southern combo to share. We both absolutely loved the collard greens, definitely up there among the best I've had. She had never had them before, and was an instant fan. The unchicken was a good enough substitute that she commented that if it wasn't for the fact that she knew this is a vegan restaurant, she'd have questioned if it was actually chicken. The waffles (for me) were way too sweet, as the kitchen had already doused them in syrup. I tend not to use much syrup, if at all, so I did not enjoy them. The use of cinnamon seemed to heighten the sweetness level, so after one or two bites, I was done. My friend enjoyed them, so it's just a personal preference. I did mention to the server that it would be nice if the syrup was on the side, and she said she would let the kitchen know about the feedback. It seems the syrup is sometimes on the side, sometimes not, depends on who's cooking that day. The sweet potatoes also were a bit too sweet for me, but I left them mostly because I was full at that point. All things considered, it was a good meal. I'm happy to see more vegan places popping up, as it's sometimes difficult finding vegan options for my friend in some of my favorite restaurants. I'll probably return here the next time she's in town, or even sooner for those mushrooms!

This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Service: It was not great. We sat for a while and no one took attention (we were outside and they were busy but no excuse for them -- they should do better). We had folks come in and out and were somewhat nonchalant and not attentive. Food: This was the great part of the experience. - Berries and Granola with Greek Yogurt: My brother in law got this an he devoured it and said it was great. - Farmers Breakfast: My wife got this and she LOVED it. She went back to get their Halwah Latte (which she said was just OK) - Egg white Omlette Skillet: I customized my food and it was good -- for reference I've had better only because the cheese was feta and it was unclear that this was the only option as I don't love feta. Also I'm pretty sure while I asked for egg whites there was normal egg (i.e., eggs). If you order egg white make sure the server hears you. They screwed this up for me. This is why I'm giving it three stars -- I could have made a stink but didn't think it was necessary to do so. All in all -- I'd recommend this spot to folks but don't go there thinking the service will be great.

We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.
