I had not brown bagged that day and it so happened that I was extremely late for lunch. So around 3pm I venture out and within a short walking distance from my office I see this plant based takeout place in The Path. I see the picture of the Shitake Burger and my stomach growled. For about $11 including taxes I get a brown bag and rush back to the office. First impressions - did not look anywhere close to the picture in the store which luckily I had clicked. Aside from not looking as advertised I began to chow down. As you might relate to this - when you are starving anything you eat seems delicious; however it this case it was the opposite the burger missed the mark. My assumption was that there were pieces of fresh mushrooms, this tasted as soy mushroom processed pieces that I have tasted at Asian restaurants. This seemed run of the mill rather than the uniqueness I was hoping for. The toppings bothered me as well as it was too unflavoured. The over done bread/bun that didn't look like the picture wasn't helpful either.

We went to Copper Branch at Heartland for a casual Sunday brunch and ordered the spicy buffalo wings with garlic aioli and hot sauce and the carrot keftedes also with garlic aioli. The buffalo wings were the star of our meal! We were surprised by how meaty and juicy the wings were! They came with a handle which made dipping a breeze. On their own, the wings tasted mainly salty and grilled, not spicy as their name suggests. The garlic sauce provided the real flavour and it was a perfect creamy, garlicky blanket for those wings. I just wish the serving size had been larger. The hot sauce just added more salt, so I don't recommend it. In the end, the wings were tasty but 6 wings cost us 16$+ tax and I think that's way too steep for an appetizer-sized dish. And to top it off, Copper Branch charged me extra for a second, teeny dipping sauce! The carrot keftedes were baked balls of carrot, garlic, turmeric, fennel seeds, onion, fresh mint, organic chickpea flour, organic cornmeal, organic sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast, organic corn flour and spices. The balls sounded nice on the menu, but they were just not that interesting IRL. Mild in flavor and soft in texture, I won't be ordering this dish again. Our friends were kind enough to let us sample their fries. Nicely seasoned and baked, the fries were not as crispy as I usually like, but they still tasted delicious and we still ate a lot of them! Try the hot almond chai latte. It was the right balance of creamy, sweet and nutty. So good! Let me know what you think about the wings!

Pretty good for a vegetarian lunch. I was certainly full but I didn't feel the weighty-ness that you would get from eating a large beef burger.

What's its supposed to look like :)

As a vegan, I want to like this place so much, and we need places like this so bad in the financial district, but I can't, I can't go to Copper Branch any more. After about the 5th attempt, and trying something different every time, I gave a breakfast item a go, the South West Wrap Scramble. It's as if whoever made it threw everything on a crumpled wrap and used their fists to roll it up. The ends weren't closed in the least, so the excessive liquid poured on the paper wrap, down my fingers and my arms, and food just kept falling out. Taste wise, I'd give it a 7/10, so not great but not terrible, but it might have been the "best" tasting thing I've had there. This place is so convenient for me, and exactly the type of food I need, but I won't be returning.

Not photogenic but tasted DELISH! Mushroom Galaxy Burger $8.95+tax - oven roasted portobello mushroom, eggplant, caramelized onions.

This review is based on my first experience only. The staff: definitely could have been more friendly. Maybe they had a really busy lunch service. Will forgive the slight attitude I received on this take out order. Food I tried the Mushroom Galaxy Burger - oven roasted portobello mushroom, eggplant, caramelized onions, Swiss style 'cheese', lettuce and aioli. It was DELICIOUS. Very flavourful and well seasoned. The soft sesame bun was super fresh. For me a sign of good vegan/vegetarian food is that you don't miss the meat. This burger makes you forget that it's vegan. Cost/Value My only gripe is, the cost. Like all vegan food, it's rather expensive. This small burger alone would definitely not be filling without a side. The burger is $10 after tax. That being said, I'm excited to go back and try everything else on the menu!

    Tofu chicken wings

The tempeh sandwich was way too sweet, soggy and otherwise tasteless, took a bite and threw it out. The tofu chicken wings (that should be called chicken drum sticks ) were way overpriced for the size.

I'm not vegan/vegetarian at all, but I enjoy eating meatless meals from time to time. I had the aztec bowl with the smoked tofu cubes and I was surprised just how much I enjoyed my bowl. The corn chips gave the overall box a nice crunch. The tofu cubes on the other hand were a little tough to chew. Even though I consider the price a little expensive for fast food lunch, I'm glad they at least stuff the box to the brim. Will defintely come back to try their other offerings.

    Crab cake burger

I'm literally writing this as I finish my burger from Copper Branch. I rarely do this, usually, I need a lot of time to digest the place before I decide to write an informed review. I have to sadly give this place a 3.5 star, and I'll explain why I took off 0.5 stars. This is a 100% plant-based restaurant. It's located in Commerce Court so you get the hustle bustle of the financial district crew. You can see them preparing meals even though no one is there. With that said, there was no wait when I went. I decided to try their crab cake burger, I originally was thinking of a power bowl but their crab cake burger is limited. And I'm intrigued to have crab cakes that aren't crab. The burger was delicious and decent sized. Honestly, you can't even tell it's not real crab. It of course does not have the strong seafood taste but it tastes pretty close to a crab cake. The bun also tastes amazing. Unfortunately, there was no alfafa sprouts in my burger (per advertised) so that was a huge disappointment..I really like alfafa sprouts so I wasn't pleased to not see it in the burger. Yes, the burger still tasted amazing without the sprouts but it is a no-no to not include a key ingredient in the burger if your menu lists out. Despite that, I am still curious to try their other options here, so I am willing to give it a second chance.

Eww. I got the quinoa breakfast bowl, and it is literally hunks of dry quinoa, huge soggy chunks of overripe banana, and hot pineapple with coconut on top. And I gave them about $6 for this gunk... Inedible and disappointing.

I found the overall taste of the food to be mediocre. The price point is high and not proportionate to the value/taste.

Spicy black bean burger here is phenomenal. The fake chicken wings are also great, poutine is worth it especially if you add extra toppings.

Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Overall, this was a 5-star experience with great food, service, & atmosphere.

Service: It was not great. We sat for a while and no one took attention (we were outside and they were busy but no excuse for them -- they should do better). We had folks come in and out and were somewhat nonchalant and not attentive. Food: This was the great part of the experience. - Berries and Granola with Greek Yogurt: My brother in law got this an he devoured it and said it was great. - Farmers Breakfast: My wife got this and she LOVED it. She went back to get their Halwah Latte (which she said was just OK) - Egg white Omlette Skillet: I customized my food and it was good -- for reference I've had better only because the cheese was feta and it was unclear that this was the only option as I don't love feta. Also I'm pretty sure while I asked for egg whites there was normal egg (i.e., eggs). If you order egg white make sure the server hears you. They screwed this up for me. This is why I'm giving it three stars -- I could have made a stink but didn't think it was necessary to do so. All in all -- I'd recommend this spot to folks but don't go there thinking the service will be great.

We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.
