I visited Panday at the Kailua mini swap meet. It was a small, kind of random event that…read moresurprisingly didn't have any other food or drink vendors. I felt kind of bad because it was a one person show and the owner guy had to accommodate a lot of customers by himself! It was a hot day and a cold drink sounded great. I heard someone mention there was a coffee vendor but the person made it sound like they were only selling cups of hot or iced coffee. Then someone walked by with a matcha drink and I knew I needed to check out Panday's booth. There was a small line of customers and the guy was working hard to chat with people, collect payments and make drinks. When it was my turn, I ordered the "Biko" coffee which is their special Filipino rice/coconut/condensed milk coffee. He said he probably didn't have enough and I should look over the menu to see if I had a second choice. I chose the banana matcha and he said he didn't have any banana syrup. I mean maybe the event was so popular that he ran out of drinks quicker than expected. I guess he was the only food/drink vendor at the event and it was a hot day.... In the end, he had enough Biko for my drink and everything was fine. It was a good latte and flavorful, but idk if I'd go out of my way to find it in the future. I do want to try the banana matcha still though. For a one man operation, this guys is killing it. He makes the espresso shots to order, so drinks may take a little while to get made. He was good at chatting up people in line while we waited though. Hopefully I'll see panday coffee at another event soon!

That's exactly what I did as soon as I saw the sidewalk sign right outside of Fishcake in Kaka'ako and I'm so glad I did ;) checking out their menu you can find the usual espresso, latte and americano and now for the fun stuff...their "Specialty Drinks" from Monkey Coffy which has house made banana syrup, Biko which is a Filipino rice milk coffee and even the newest The Panday Pandan Latte! I really was intrigued by their Monkey Coffy but really wanted to try their Matcha when they said that I could combine it for "Monkey Matcha" whaaaaaaat!!!! Their only concern is that the banana syrup could overpower the matcha so they weren't confident to put it on the menu but I tell you it was yummy and yes the syrup was very flavorful as I was told it is made with real bananas and has the equivalent of two bananas in each cup...incredible. The staff is amazing and informed me of the wait with several orders already in the works but I do love the creativity as they bring in the culture crafted in each cup is unique and "sip"ly delicious. Thank you!

The roasted chicken - requires 20 minutes to prepare - gyoza (chicken or beef) and the orange chicken are deliciously delectable, and are my favorites. The fried noodles (no bacon is available) are the perfect accompaniment to the aforementioned entrees. Rice is also available. Chelsea is extraordinary at providing consistent superior customer service. She never fails to greet customers promptly and kindly. Chelsea wears many hats as the greeter, server, barista and overall front of house manager. It can be extremely busy, but Chelsea hustles and does her absolute best. So bring your appetite and a dose of patience. Online ordering is a great option. On your initial visit it may be difficult to find, but the discovery is well worth the hunt. It can be daunting to find the entrance, walk through a corridor and netting. But don't be deterred nor frustrated. I highly recommend trying the Sweet Corner Cafe. Say hello to Chelsea for me.

I used their website to place an online order the day before, which was pretty user-friendly including pics of the baked goods available. I wanted to get a few pastries for myself to try and bring some poi malasadas for my volunteer group. I saw they also sold sandwiches, which I was unaware of & was happy to see they had a chicken salad sandwich that I ended up ordering. Pick-up was scheduled for 9AM. They are easy to find and located across the street from the Halawa rec center. As other yelpers have mentioned, parking can be tricky but there is ample parking. Just be sure not to park in any stalls marked reserved. When I got there, there were only 2 customers ahead of me, a man in the store, and a lady just outside the door. Apparently they limit the amount of people in the door because of how small the area is and probably same set-up from covid time. Plus if there are already people at the register, there's a sign on the door that says, "the line starts here." So even though I ordered ahead, I still had to wait to get in. They should at least have another employee help with just pick-up orders to move the line along in case customers in front of you have huge orders. After I stood there waiting, 3 more people lined up behind me. Once I got to the counter, the girl had to go in the back to get my order which was already bagged when she brought it to me. It took about 10 minutes altogether from waiting in line to leaving. She was nice and friendly and the front area was kept clean. Poi malasadas, $2 each - good sized and ono, nice & soft, not overly sweet. Blueberry scone, $3.60 - meh, on the dry side & looks like they use frozen blueberries or preserved, not worth it. Butter roll, $1.45 - meh, on the dry side even after warming it. Long john, $3.90 - ono, hands down one of the best I've had. It is a little pricier than other bakeries but it is huge. They do not skimp on the custard, filled to the max & it was tasty, not overly sweet. The only thing I didn't like was there was way too much powered sugar topping, which made the donut part too sweet. Still worth getting & way better than Zippy's. Chicken salad sandwich, $9.75 - one of the best I've had. Wasn't sure what to expect from a bakery but it was delicious & the price was very reasonable. Comes on a soft, sweet bread type roll and packed with chicken salad & lettuce. They also did not skimp on the chicken salad, which was also very flavorful. This sandwich was huge & barely fit the container it came in. I could only eat half because it was so filling. All sandwiches come with a bag of chips. Unfortunately, the website doesn't give you a choice of what you want, they just stuck a bag of fritos in the bag, which I was ok with. I would get this again. Overall, I was pleased with most of the food. Ordering online ahead of time was easy, friendly service at pick-up with a clean area, & ample free parking. I plan to come back and try some other goodies. Support local!
