    Awesome coffee
    Sue L.

Just as sure as I am that every dad in America got a massage gun for Father's Day this year, I am certain that you will go head over heels over this coffee! Rise, find yourself some ono grindz, then go find this darling little blue coffee trailer that will knock your socks off! Your day is already off to the most fabulous start! I've only been once, but my iced Hawaiian latte left enough of an impression on me that I am an official fan girl of Rise & Grind! "Ohmigosh, that is spectacular" was my exclamation upon first sip. Do it! It's the best way to start your day in paradise!

Awesome small local business operating out of a small trailer serving up delicious fresh brewed coffee-expresso with ALOHA! Looking forward to my next cup of Hawaiian Kine Java! Located right across from Kono's on Sunday morning! Definitely a place for coffee lovers!

The cold brew with honey lavender and almond milk is THE BEST drink to walk around the Sunday farmer's market with.

Rise & GRIND- this is a great one! Barney, his wife Leah, and their friend Olivia run the BEST coffee trailer at the Aloha Farm Lovers Kaka'ako Market on Saturday mornings. It's a beautiful turquoise blue, they sport their aloha wear, and carry out a smile and a great attitude every week (more like every other week, because I visit the market every other week hehe). They craft different coffee flavors and brews every week at decent prices. Cold brew, lattes, mocha and Americano... but I really am a sucker for iced lattes! $5.50 for a 16 oz, and one has the option of substituting for oat and almond milk for 50 cents extra. I sub the whole milk for those alternative milk options, as whole milk is quite heavy for me. So far, I've had: * coconut cream pie latte: with coconut and vanilla syrup * Hawaiian: with macnut, coconut, and vanilla syrup Their coffees are smooth, have the perfect ratio of coffee-sweetness (think 50% sweet), and are served up in a good timeframe. All in all, definitely visit the crew at Rise & Grind- their coffee definitely fuels you for a fun-filled and/or productive day ahead! If you're unable to catch them in Kaka'ako on Sunday's, they are also at Pali Lanes from Wednesday-Friday.

Rise and grind was our favorite everyday spot for us when visiting Hawaii . The space is absolutely beautiful and the coffee is even better. The owner is an amazing human , he was so helpful in sharing beautiful unique spots to visit and very friendly.

16oz Hawaiian Cold Brew with Oatmilk
    Julia L.

Had one of the best cold brews I've ever had here, and I have had a loooot of cold brew. A lot. It was truly my dream cold brew. It's one of the major reasons why I so look forward to stopping by the Kaka'ako Farmers Market on Saturday AMs! I get their largest size (16oz) and add the Hawaiian flavoring (macnut, coconut & vanilla) with oat milk. The total comes out to be ~$5, which I think is a very reasonable price for flavored cold brew anywhere - and especially in Honolulu. They seem to rotate their flavorings every so often and I'm dying to try some of the other ones - like Brown Sugar Oatmilk or Honey Cinnamon - but that would mean skipping getting my favorite cold brew one time, so we'll see if I ever end up trying those... There's always a line in front of their trailer, but the wait has never been too long and it's worth it. The girls running Rise & Grind are also very sweet. Right now this is my favorite coffee on the island!

The Hawaiian cold brew was great to take to the beach this morning! It wasn't too sweet and had a nice balance with the coconut and vanilla. I felt lucky to beat the morning rush on a Sunday as a line of about 8 people casually strolled in behind me. For a small business I was expecting warm customer service but was greeted with a rather gruff, short "What do you want?" so while the coffee was enjoyable I can't say the same about the service I received. Hopefully just an off interaction but it didn't leave me with a great first impression.

It was a happy accident coming across this delicious island coffee truck! Owner is so down to earth, kind and makes great coffee drinks! Many flavor options to choose from, cold brew available, and various milk options. Don't miss out on this tasty and wonderful coffee stand in Kailua, you'll be happy you went!

    french vanilla latte

I was excited to try this coffee spot at the farmers market in Kakaako, because the line always looks long and I see a lot of people walking around with their coffee at the market. I ordered something simple - a french vanilla latte. I was considering getting a pumpkin latte, but wanted to try a basic coffee first. When i received the coffee, I already started to see condensation on the cup. I can't blame them though, it was a really hot day. However, I think they should've put more ice in the drink, as it got warm really quickly. The drink itself was not too sweet, which I don't mind. I would like to try another drink next time, hopefully I like it more!

The Hawaiian Latte, sub oat milk. It was perfect!! Not too sweet or too strong. This was amazing. So many good flavors to try. Support local and try Rise and Grind it's worth every penny

    Broken coffee lid

I went to the Kailua Home Market for the first time because I was visiting a friend that had a jewelry stand. My mom & I wanted coffee so we decided to go to this place. While we were ordering, the lady taking our order was not friendly and very rude. After getting our coffee, I took a sip and the coffee spilled all over me. I realized that the coffee lid was broken! Even when we got back to our car, the lid wouldn't stay on so it spilled all everywhere. NEVER going back again.

Yay!!! Kailua has a food truck event! Finally. So if I fall asleep or sound drowsy it's cause I/we…read moreoverdid it, and now have that "I over ate and now need a nap" syndrome. We were so excited to have a food event come to Kailua that we bought a lot. I've forgotten some of the vendors that were there........The ones that I can remember were: Shogunai Fairy Cakes (no they weren't dressed up this time) Chicago Eats Thai Loco Foods Tats Shave Ice Xtreme Tacos Puffettes Egg Puffs Soul Lanikai Shrimp Truck & and an ice cream truck Hawaiian Soljahs is a youth baseball team and this is their fundraiser.......and they also have a booth with canned soda ($1.00), bottled water, and hot chocolate w/whipped cream. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WOCyhWNFxAlsl36loEVQVw?select=w7nmXIgqM_8tTZDUOLsLiA Enchanted Lake Elementary School had their own booth, selling Rice Krispie treats, shortbread, beef sticks, & Cookie Corner cookies. They were also taking orders for their Easter Imu pit !@ $20. BTW, they also do a Thanksgiving imu. It's a fund raiser for the 4th Grade Big Island trip. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WOCyhWNFxAlsl36loEVQVw?select=zB5WSLoBZ39KybDCMjZleA http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WOCyhWNFxAlsl36loEVQVw?select=6iI-QUWMxnx5kpb4j-XkcQ So many choices that it was hard making up our minds. I love gyros so we were looking @ Chicago Eats, and someone ordering told us she was from Chicago, and the food tasted just like the food in Chicago (deep dish pizza, Chicago hot dogs, etc.). I ordered the gyro, and my husband ordered the hot dog. Next time it'll be the deep dish pizza. Even the kiddie pizza looked delish! I bought cupcakes, a lemon bar and carrot cake from Fairy Cakes. My husband bought a spicy ahi poke bowl w/brown rice which was fantastic. At another vendor we bought a sampler slider (set of 3; steak, meatloaf and veggie) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WOCyhWNFxAlsl36loEVQVw?select=Af1EahdCOhh3GV94oXS6bg There's always room for dessert, and I bought bread pudding which, thankfully, was very light http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WOCyhWNFxAlsl36loEVQVw?select=7o6gUL-qE-JeYiZw8l_a_w I can't remember the names of those food trucks....so if you recognizes the food let me know!! Today the hours were from 4-8. There were are a few stalls in the lot, but more on the street because there was basketball going on. The food trucks and tents are right in front of the cafeteria so there's lot of seating and no worries if it should rain. And no.....we did not eat all of that. We have leftovers for a midnight snack ;) ('ll post more pics later on when I come out of my food stupor.) Yelp 365 Challenge: #42/365

Wife went to the 5-0 Ribs truck and got, well, the ribs. Tasty and tender. She also gave me a sample of the brisket which tasted like some kinda meat heaven. The guys at the 5-0 Ribs truck were sooo friendly with great service. I went to the We're Cooking Fresh For You Truck and got the steak with pesto on brown rice and salad plate. It was actually quite healthy and had a nice side of fresh apple and pineapple slices. Fun events aside from food. Drag racing cars revving their engines. Live music. Dancing. Basket hoop games. Great place for kids. Then our demons came out. We went to the Aloha on Wheels Truck and got the dreaded...The breaded..... DEEP FRIED SNICKERS WITH BACON on a stick So much for working out. I can't finish this review without commentary on the name. Perhaps my mind is more twisted than most, but why name an event that sounds like you made it to 3rd base on your date with a woman named Kailua? Dining Out with Friendly Food Trucks and Drag Racers with Dancing In Enchanted Lakes. Fix'd.

So many food stalls and trucks to choose from it was difficult to choose which one to eat from in the end we ended up at Kababa Mama's stall, the home of Mama's Smash Burger, only we went for the grilled Chicken Shawarma which was just an outstanding dish, squeeze of lime over tender pieces of chicken thigh, with a layer of Tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, diced tomatoes, pickled onions and finely diced cucumber on grilled pitta bread. For vegetarians they also have a veggie Falafel Smash with Chickpeas, Tzatziki, Feta, Tomatoes, Pickled Onions and Cucumbers. The lines were long and the wait even longer but so worth it. I even grabbed one to go just as the event was closing down, it was that good. The amount of vendors at this event is well worth a visit, lots of choices and quality merchandise. For the last few months the event has been scheduled for the last Friday of the month in the Alaloa parking lot at Windward Mall ( Mauka side of Alaloa St.). As the Mall parking fills quickly they do run a shuttle from King Intermediate, although they are charging for this, which goes towards a worthy cause supporting the school's band.
