For about a year, I have consistently patronized the Sweet Corner Cafe but haven't submitted a review yet Here is my review. The roasted chicken - requires 20 minutes to prepare - gyoza (chicken or beef) and the orange chicken are deliciously delectable, and are my favorites. The fried noodles (no bacon is available) are the perfect accompaniment to the aforementioned entrees. Rice is also available. Chelsea is extraordinary at providing consistent superior customer service. She never fails to greet customers promptly and kindly. Chelsea wears many hats as the greeter, server, barista and overall front of house manager. It can be extremely busy, but Chelsea hustles and does her absolute best. So bring your appetite and a dose of patience. Online ordering is a great option. On your initial visit it may be difficult to find, but the discovery is well worth the hunt. It can be daunting to find the entrance, walk through a corridor and netting. But don't be deterred nor frustrated. I highly recommend trying the Sweet Corner Cafe. My sister was in town and wanted to try Sweet Corner Cafe. I was apprehensive at first because of the location which could be categorized as hidden. Its location was a mystery and the way the food disappeared off our plates was the magic. We were met with love and we were served love in our to go containers. We ordered house fried noodles, orange chicken, house fried gyoza, vegetarian spring rolls with sides of white rice and various, delicious tea drinks. I have never had bacon in my fried noodles before and I know bacon makes most things taste better but this was truly the cherry on top. I loved the noodles. I love thin noodles like angel hair pasta and finally I've found a place that serves a thin fried noodle. It was delicious. The orange chicken was hot and tasty and we didn't get any fatty pieces which made it perfect!! That's huge to my family. Speaking of which, I have a big family we're talking 8 people and the portions at this place were delightfully generous. You might be buying dinner today but you'll likely have lunch for tomorrow too! I don't know what they put in the drinks but I am hooked. My goodness! Iced-Cool Liquid happiness for my tongue, throat, stomach and soul. I was upset when it was gone. I'm still upset. This place is truly off the beaten path but worth the effort to find and dine. Drive directly down the alley when you see the Sweet Corner Cafe sign on the corner(keep your eyes peeled). This place is the epitome of a hidden gem, mom-and-pop spot! + Food: I came for the egg tarts, but they have a wide range of stuff on their menu: from main dishes, to desserts, to lemonades and milk tea. The egg tarts were great, 8/10: great fillings, but the bottom was a bit soft. They were freshly baked tho which I really appreciate!! + Space and service: Amazing service! Lunch in Aiea, Hawaii... If you're good at following GPS directions, you'll be able to find Sweet Corner Cafe. It's located deep in the industrial area of Halawa Valley - across from Menehune Water. Note: I've wanted to visit ever since I read Glen's Review of the Day (ROTD)! I parked on the steep driveway, right at the entrance to the building. After walking down a hallway, I found the cute café with the helpful signs. Chelsea was the very friendly, efficient server. She showed me the menu online, explained everything, and was a good conversationalist. I ordered the Matcha Lemonade which came in a BPA-free reusable bag. It was on the sweet side, so I added some water. I needed hydration anyway! My lunch was the Spring rolls, fried in avocado oil. They didn't seem greasy at all, but we're crunchy! The baby spinach was locally grown and fresh! The Portuguese Egg Tart had a flakey crust and dense filling. It was a nice dessert! So sweet corner is an experience. It's not for everyone, but it definitely has a following due to their relatively large gluten free menu and friendly service. My friend who is gluten free wanted me to join her for breakfast one morning. I thought she was joking when she told me where it was and thankfully she met me on the street and we walked in together. It's eclectic in a weird way and there are a lot of cats In the area. It was easy enough to find street parking, which I would recommend because the driveway down to the parking lot is steep steep. The lady who runs the place, I think her name is Chelsea, is super friendly. She is on a first name basis with my friend and stops to ask questions and listen. The menu is kind of Chinese, but there are a lot of non Chinese things too. I ordered the waffle and chicken. It was interesting. Not bad, and I liked the waffle a lot. My friends got the coconut shrimp with fried noodles and the orange chicken with fried rice. I totally get that it's hard to find gluten free restaurants and that this place is catering to the gluten free community. It's nice. For me, I don't think it was the best food I've ever had, but I appreciated the friendly service and I liked my drinks a lot. I had the Hong Kong style milk tea and one of the lemonades. They were both served in a cool reusable bag that we were encouraged to take home and reuse. I definitely want to come back to try the egg tarts. I read in someone's review that the owners are from Macau. I kind of wish they offered the fusiony Portuguese rice dishes from Macau I've had only a couple times and crave soooo much. The ice teas and coffee are very addicting. So far we had fried noodles,orange chicken,chocolate croissants, Portuguese sausage and eggs,pineapple sausage and eggs, and gyoza which were delicious. Chelsea is a bubbly server that made you feel comfortable for first time customers. I'm sure she treats everyone equally for repeat customers too. I am still figuring out why they stay in this location. They could be upgraded, serve more than five tables and the customers would not have to listen to barking dogs ( dog boarding downstairs). We love finding cute hidden gems around Hawaii and this is definitely one of them. This place is a literal hole-in-the-wall cafe in the back of Halawa serving some delicious comfort foods and drinks. Highly recommend trying the fried noodles but they have fresh poke bowls too which we will try the next time They are practically a one man show with Chelsea, the owner, running around with 3 chefs cooking in the back. 10/10 on the chicken and waffles, 10/10 on the orange chicken, 10/10 on the pink lemonade and the purple lemonade, 10/10 fried rice, and 1000/10 on the Portuguese tarts. The Portuguese tarts were insane. I ate these in Lisbon, Portugal and something similar in Paris last summer, they don't even compare. If this place scales, coco-puffs better watch out. Overall the quality of food is very high. You probably can't go wrong with any dish here. Food service from Chelsea was exceptional. Chelsea is not like anyone I've ever met before. She has a superpower for people. Ambiance is interesting. You get the feeling that you're lost and then when you find the place, it's a nice little spot to enjoy a nice meal. Looking forward to seeing this restaurant grow into something more and potentially expand. If not, put this up there with the heavy hitter mom and pops restaurants all around O'ahu. read more

This place earns its reviews! We almost didn't go in from the outside, but were so glad we did. The waitress learned all of our names and became part of the family. Each course was incredible. I don't usually like orange chicken and it was delicious. Our au pair orders fried rice everywhere and says it was the best she's ever had. Went on a Saturday morning, a much more successful hunt for the place than a weekday when my son and I tried to find it. There was parking available because the place is nestled among many industrial warehouse type of businesses. When we went on a weekday, we couldn't find a parking spot. When we got there (make your way down the driveway) and walk through the hall. You might be greeted by Chelsea who was the nicest one-woman front of the store person ever. She sat us down asked for everyone's names. She gave us their menu to take a look at their offerings on a laptop. I thought that was cool. They had one area to seat about 14 people or so. It's small. But, it was well lit and clean. I wish they had a better spot, but I think that's what makes them endearing. I bet during the week they fill a lot of take-out orders. We had the waffle and chicken, their fried rice, fried noodle with gyoza, and pineapple sausage and an extra order of the bubble waffle. All pretty yummy. I went on a Sunday. At first i was like where is this cafe? There was a gym with kids playing basketball ball. Parents sitting under a big tent. Thank goodness there was a cute sign. Many dishes came with rice, but you could opt to sub greens. My faves were the ahi and tofu poke dishes. The ahi was fresh and tender, each sauce had great flavor. Portions were family shareable.
