We booked the 5 Star Circle Island with Pearl Harbor Tour and it was a great way to see the majority of the island all in one day. We started off at Pearl Harbor where we got to check out the vistors center and the Arizona Memorial. We then headed out to the Dole Pineapple Plantation where we got to take a tram tour and shop at the gift shop where we bought some amazing Dole Whips. We then headed up to the North Shore and our driver Charlie allowed us to get out and take some amazing pictures at the beach. We then went to Marriott for lunch were we also got to learn Hula from a "kumu hula" and that was really fun. We also checked out the Polynesian Cultural Center and did a canoe ride there, made stops at some of the famous lookout points like Pali Lookout, Hanauma Bay, Halona Blowhole and the Diamond Head Crater. The bus was comfortable with air condition and leather seats and our driver Charlie was super friendly and made the 12 hours go by quickly with all of his great stories and knowledge of the island. We booked Beyond the Call of Duty for the most complete tour of Pearl Harbor. It included entrance to all memorials, USS Arizona, USS Bowfin, USS Missouri, USS Oklahoma, the Aviation museum, drive by the Punchbowl Cemetery, city tour and they provide a lunch. Our driver and tour guide was Matt he was absolutely amazing, informative and had a good sense of humor. Matt was very prompt in the morning at the scheduled hotel we were supposed to be picked up at 6:10am. He had a couple of sweets for us early in the morning and plenty of water throughout the whole tour. Doing the Hoku tour was so worth the price, it might seem like 11hrs is a long time but believe me the time really flew by, well at least it did for us. They give you enough time to go through the memorials and the museums with plenty of time, Matt even told us where to go first before the crowd got there first. It came in handy too, we had time to go in the Bowfin by ourselves for the first 10mins without a big crowd lol. After we left that's when everyone started coming, so thanks Matt!! We would definitely book future tours with Hoku when we make a return visit. read more

Isaiah was a fantastic driver and fabulous historian. He filled in the historical gaps that is part of the information related to our Pearl Harbor tour. Once at the Arizona and Pearl Harbor, Isaiah was helpful with his recommendations and timing of events. The included lunch was great! Fantastic place to have it at Ford Island air museum. Once at the USS Missouri, Isaiah once again gave great advice to take a tour with a docent on board the ship. The return trip from Pearl to the hotels was also educational. Me and my wife booked the Five Star Circle Island Tour via Hoku Tours, and it was the best decision for a "most bang for your buck," in regards to an excursion. It was literally a tour of the entire island of Oahu in an air conditioned bus. There were multiple stops along the way for amazing scenic pictures with intertwined Hawaiian cultural aspects. Did the 5-Star Circle Island Tour with Kane on 10/19 and had a great time. The bus was awesome - leather reclining seats with footrests, power, and storage space - pastries in the morning, ice cold water all day, towelettes, to freshen up, and an amazing and very knowledgeable guide. The only thing I didn't really care for was lunch. It wasn't that great but it was a plated meal that included salad, rice, three proteins, pineapple, water, and punch (although the punch was more like flavored water). read more

This was the third tour we took during a two-week stay on Maui and Oahu. I initially had some doubts about being part of tour group, but figured a half-day or full-day tour was bearable.The reality was that, without a rental car in Honolulu, that a tour was the only reasonable way we could see what we wanted to see on Oahu. There is so much to see beyond Waikiki and the Circle Tour was a good introduction to the beauty of Oahu. Our 24-passenger van had twice the capacity as our Road to Hana Tour on Maui. But somehow it didn't seem that much larger. (We had 24 adults and a young child.) Kanamu, our driver/tour guide, deserves a lot of credit for making the tour a fun adventure. We learned so much about Oahu and the Hawaiian culture. Kanamu obviously loved sharing the island culture with us. We learned a lot. She is a high energy person. For the first hour or so, I felt that energy was going to be draining for me, an introvert. But I soon got used to her style. I give her credit for making sure that we had lots of stops with many opportunities for stretching our legs, getting pictures of the the beautiful sights, and buying souvenirs, if we so desired. The day began with a pastry (a poi donut). A couple of bites was all that DH and I wanted. Quite sweet. We were glad we had eaten a light breakfast before boarding the van. (Our Valley Isle Excursions' Road to Hana tour included a continental breakfast which Hoku did not feature.) Bottled water was available throughout the day. We were warned that the Dole Pineapple Plantation was a "tourist trap," and I would have to agree. But still am glad we stopped. Kanamu kept us moving so we did not overstay our visit. The tour fee included lunch at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Lunch was decent (choice of two or three items). It was nice to sit at a large round table and visit with others on the van. After lunch, we had a boat ride which was a bit like being at Disneyland. Lunch and the boat ride were enough -- no desire to return to Polynesian Culture Center in the future. Too hokey for me. I can't begin to count the number of stops we had after lunch. I tried to follow on a map but soon lost track. A map like we had on our Road to Hana trip would have been helpful. At the end of the day, we were each given a very sturdy tote bag which featured the Hoku logo. (Now a very handy bag for groceries.) The Circle Tour was a full day and well worth the money. Our guide, Cousin Kevin embraced us as Ohana from the start and made this a wonderful day. We took the luxury eco tour which included paddle boarding on the Anahulu River, swimming in the Waimea Falls pool, a dip in the ocean by a secluded beach, a tour of Byodo-in Temple, plus stops at a coffee farm, macadamia farm and Dole Plantation. It was an action packed day with a small group, giving us an authentic flavor of the islands. We did the Oahu Eco- Adventure Tour. Paul was our guide and he was amazing!! So informative! So fun! Very memorable! Loved this tour so much!! You can tell he loves what he does and has such a passion for the land. He came out on the paddle boards with us and helped us out since we are first timers, and spotted some Beautiful turtles! We had an awesome Circle Island Tour from Ko'olina on Tues, 7/30. I cannot say enough about our tour guide, Kane, and what he did for us. He picked us up at 7:20 am from Aulani on a nice, new tour bus, and I asked Kane how many other stops he had. He said, "You're it. So I'll treat you like Ohana (family), and show you everything on my island I'd show them." We sat near the front and peppered him with questions throughout the day, and he handled everyone of them with extensive knowledge and great patience. He went out of his way to make every stop special, and even familiarized us with other stops we would be making later in the week. This was our first trip to Hawaii, and my family agrees this tour was the highlight of our week. Hoku is a premier tour company, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. This was our first ever "touristy" experience and it couldn't have been any better. Our driver, Charlie, had such a heart warming attitude and personality. We absolutely love him! He had such a fun personality you could never forget. We purchased the Call to Duty Tour for Pearl Harbor and it was worth it. We were a bit worried about the duration of the time listed on the site, but there was so much to do that you don't realize how fast time flies. We lined up a Pearl Harbor tour through Cousin K at Pleasant Hawaiian, and at his direction we booked Hoku. K said we'd prefer the size of the tour - very comfortable sleek buses that hold maybe 20 people - to some of the big tours available. He was right; it was very comfortable and small enough that it was easy to ask our guide questions. We took the verrrrry early tour, which turned out great because we missed the hottest part of the day on a particularly hot day in Honolulu. Kanamu was our guide, and she was very knowledgeable, friendly and interesting, including some of her own experiences in her presentation. I highly recommend her for a tour of this gravity and covering this much history. Also, she brought us purple poi donuts for breakfast (YUM). While we were unlucky to arrive on Oahu during a time when no visitors were allowed on the Arizona Memorial due to structural problems with the dock (they didn't even allow boats to take people out near the memorial), this didn't ruin the day. I have toured Pearl Harbor many times and there was still plenty to experience, plenty to learn. We spent more time touring the Missouri than I had been allowed in the past, we went through the submarine Bowfin, as well as the aviation museum and introductory film. The lunch buffet was tasty and plentiful, and we were constantly provided with water bottles. Our Honolulu tour included driving through the National Cemetery at Punchbowl Crater, and Kanamu had lots of good insights the whole time. Hoku... where do I begin? First of we booked our Beyond Call of Duty, an all day Pearl Harbor tour, through Aulani's excursions. Prior to booking, I've googled various Pearl Harbor tours but the one by Hoku is what we think is the BEST of them all. Well, we're glad we did because our AWESOME tour guide, Paolo, is one of a kind!!! We did our City highlights tour first & he managed to maneuver road closures due to President's Day (02/17/20) marathon. After our initial stop seeing the statue of King Kamehameha I and the Lolani Palace, we were offered Poi Donuts from Kamehameha Bakery on our way back to the bus in addition to the all day supply of bottled water. The Poi Donut was the BOMB!!! We then drove around more, saw the Punchbowl and finally hit the Pearl Harbor National Park. Let me tell you the extensive package of the Beyond Call of Duty was well WORTH it!!! We saw USS Bowfin, USS Arizona Memorial, included buffet lunch (which the kahlua pork was DELICIOUS) at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, USS Missouri. Not to mention, before heading back to our respective hotels, we were offered chocolate covered macademia and received a free gift (pen with stylus). Cousin Kev is the BEST! He truly cares about the passengers and busted his butt to ensure we were happy and cared for. I loved the little extras (poi donuts, floral headbands, ice water all day, chocolate and candy, etc. etc.) as they really made the trip special! My only negative comments involve not stopping at the Macadamia Nut Farm as scheduled by the Concierge, and the A/C wasn't working as well as it should (they need to clean the completely clogged air vents in the van). But other than those things, the tour was amazing, most importantly because of Cousin Kev and his knowledge and love of Hawaiian history. Thank you for making our vacation so great! read more

Tour guide was fine. He was funny and kept things rolling. Although, he did try to milk everyone for a tip by giving this sob story about how expensive it is to live here. Of course, it's Hawaii!!! Perfectly timed at about 5 minutes before he dropped us off. Thing that really pissed me off was that we were not told the USS Arizona was closed and we would merely circle it. Also, DO NOT buy the lunch upgrade. It was basically dog/cat food. The fish smelled like it went bad. Chicken was ok. They have no sodas. Also, we had one guy in the group that held all of us up and thought it was hilarious. We wasted 30 minutes waiting for his cab to arrive. I don't think I would book again. read more

We booked an all day pearl harbor tour. It was pricey but I'm so glad we did!! Greg was our tour guide and I have to say he was awesome!! I highly, highly recommend this tour!! You get a great scenic drive, great views, info about the city, etc. You don't have to worry about driving in traffic, parking, standing in line for tickets, wondering what to do and see first. It's all planned out. So great!! You have to drive to the aviation museum, was a blessing to have that provided as well. The buffet lunch was delicious!!! Greg was really awesome, funny, friendly, so much history and knowledge that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. This tour has been one of the highlights of our trip for sure. If you're worried about being rushed through since you're in a group, don't. You have ample time to see what you want before being at the meeting spot. Plus, on your pass, it says you can come back in the next 7 days for only $10. So don't worry! This tour is well worth every penny and then some! This had to be the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. My wife , daughter and myself took the ECO TOUR WITH HOKU TOURS . The TOUR was an all day excursion on the island. Cousin Kev was our guide and was exceptional! I am a tour guide with Palmetto Carriage Works in Charleston, SC. It was very interesting seeing the technique that Cousin Kev used. There were a total of 23 on the TOUR. When Cousin Kev arrived to pick us up it was game on! You could tell immediately that this was not just a job to him. This was a job that he loved doing. Cousin Kev showed tremendous concerns for everyone's needs and went way above the call of duty. It was great to be around such a positive individual while he shared his love and passion for the island with others. While kayaking and paddle boarding with the turtles Cousin Kev was on his paddle board taking pictures of everyone on his TOUR with his cell phone. After returning to the van Cousin Kev passed his phone around to everyone so that they could download the pictures he had taken on their own phones. He even pulled out his ukulele and sang a happy anniversary song to my wife and I celebrating 44 years of marriage. Okay seriously, if you're going to do anything on vacation in Oahu, this tour needs to be it. My mom and I did the Pearl Harbor and circle island tour, and it was INCREDIBLE. Kev was seriously AMAZING. How he manages to be so funny, attentive, entertaining, courteous, and remember so many facts and stories is just insane. He totally was the best part of the tour by FAR. Even the other guests on the bus were all saying the same thing. The stops we made were perfect, we hit a lot of the best spots. This would be a great tour to do in the beginning of a trip, so you can pick which places to go back to and spend more time. I can't emphasize enough how attentive Kev was. He went more than above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable, happy, having fun, and learning too! Seriously. Take THIS tour, don't try to save money and do a cheaper tour. This one is more than worth every single penny. And don't forget to tip your tour guide!! They work so hard. I've waited a long time to see Pearl Harbor, and this tour did not disappoint. "J-o-e Joe" was most friendly, funny and helpful throughout the day. There was always more than enough time to see everything at all the various stops and Joe provided very helpful information and tips before letting us loose. He had lots of little tidbits of information on the areas we visited and on Honolulu itself. You could tell that he loves what he does and is very proud of his city. There was a great group of people on our tour and everyone was very friendly and considerate of others (which doesn't always happen!). Everyone returned to the bus on time and helped others in the group when needed. The best part of this tour was that it wasn't completely guided - we were able to explore all the exhibits at our own pace and weren't forced to stay with the group. I loved the taro donuts that Joe had for us in the morning. Lunch at the Air Museum on Ford Island was also terrific - a great selection of buffet items to satisfy everyone. Our Pearl Harbor tour was awesome! We had a small, comfortable bus with a small group of maybe 15. Our guide Isaiah was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. During the ride there, he entertained us with some interesting local and Pearl Harbor history. Once there, everything went smoothly in and out of the military base. Isaiah had great recommendations on what to see and where to go. There were additional guides on the Missouri who were very knowledgeable. The Arizona Memorial was still closed for repair, but we were able to take a navy boat around the area to see it. Lunch at the Air Museum was just okay. This tour is a waste of money! The tour bus cannot stop at all the neat places. You spend 9-10 hrs on a bus and basically make 5 stops! Lunch was horrible at a Marriot! We made 1 stop in three hours! The Diamond Head stop was nothing more than a u-turn at the entrance! This tour is a huge scam! You can rent a car and do much more on your own! Buyer beware! My husband and I were on the 5 Star Circle Island With Pearl Harbor on Saturday, January 18 2020 @ 6:30am. Our original driver was Ha'o; however, his vehicle was damaged by another while we were at Pearl Harbor. We had expected Ha'o to pick us up at 9:30 AM. He finally arrived at 10:15 AM, which wasn't bad considering what all had happened since we'd been dropped off. The problem was that no one from Hoku bothered to let us know there was a delay and when to expect Ha'o. My cell number was part of our registration. There was another Hoku vehicle near our pickup point at Pearl Harbor. I approached the bus and the driver (Jamison) opened the door. When I stepped in to attempt to ask about our bus, Jamison said - wrong bus, get off or get out, I am not sure which. He was extremely rude!!!!! The tour was good for the most part. We liked Ha'o and his replacement Kevin. The lunch at the Marriott Courtyard was very disappointing!!! The food was mediocre at best. The dancing was nice. I find it hard to believe that this was the location chosen to give the group an authentic Hawaiian tour and meal. Our group did not get to take in the last stop of Diamond Head. We missed the entrance by about 3 minutes. Not sure if Kevin knew what time they closed, but he should have and also should have cut a few minutes off another stop or two to ensure we made all stops on the tour. I feel there were a few areas in which the tour could be improved and a few more in which our situation was handled poorly.
