Hola has a great location in downtown, the drinks were regularly priced, but the food and service were an issue. I took my wife out to dance for our anniversary last night. ordered tacos as a light snack before going out dancing. We both ended up having to call it early because of stomach cramping and diarrhea. What was supposed to be a nice night out ended up with us sitting in separate bathrooms until midnight. I would never go back. I did some searching on the internet and found a few posts on message boards about former employees talking about how disgusting and unsanitary their kitchen is. How is this place even still open? I've been a long time fan of Hola! East Side. Yesterday's rain & chill left us craving something warm & comforting and Hola! came to mind but we didn't want to make the trek over to the East Side (it's soooo farrrrrrrrr...just kidding). The last time I was at the downtown location was two years ago for a really nice birthday dinner with friends; we've never been for lunch. My husband's go to is always Chancho a lo Sancho (braised pork in coca-cola with yams, onions, tomatoes, and peruvian sofrito sauce) and yesterday was no different; for a change, I ordered the fish tacos, which I rarely order anywhere because I am particular to the fish tacos at Barrio Cafe in Phoenix and it's hard to compete with those. My husband said his plate was outstanding; indeed, the huge, soft pieces of yam that he shared with me had multiple layers of flavor and just a touch of heat - delicious! My fish tacos, also with a bit of spicy heat, arrived hot atop lovely warm tortillas that were not soggy; the rice that was served with it was freshly made and very moist & flavorful, as were the black beans. Both dishes featured nicely sized portions and we were too full to consider even coffee after. Service from Antonio was quick, friendly and seamless! A delightful, soul warming lunch for two for $24 made a dreary February day a lot sunnier. A note to the owner: the Chef at this location is outstanding! NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EXPERIENCED SUCH RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF! Especially the male bartender last night Sunday February 15th. I called and told the staff we would be coming with 7 and a baby to dine in around 6:30. I understand they where not taking reservations but I wanted to call ahead for a heads up! We stood by the door as the waitress continued to walk by without a greeting and kept putting her index finger up at us and another couple waiting. After 15 minutes the Bartender yelled at us to "back up" as we where already pushed up on the glass. We told him we had no where to go and he screamed at us to GO somewhere else!! WOW HOW EMBARRASSING!!! We stood there all in shock. We told them we are just waiting patiently. He told us we NEED to leave. I seriously thought this was a joke ... A hidden camera show... No way was this real! I asked to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager right now and he didn't want to talk to me. So here we are two married couples, a ten year old, a baby and two over the age of 70 patiently waiting for a table lashed out and asked to leave. Never in my life has a restaurant employee spoken to me or my family with such disrespect. read more

1st time here. Tiny portions and delayed service. Just my 2 kids and I came in on Mothers Day. There were a few others dining but it was not busy. My daughter and I wanted to share the nachos. Now most Mexican restaurants have pretty large servings of their nachos. Not this place. We both left starving. And for $9.00 it was definitely not worth it. We have made a point to eat at Hola!'s every time we have visited Bend for the last 3 years and it's always been a good experience and were looking forward to another nice visit/meal. The service was fast, but the waitresses were not very friendly. Food was good (we had carne asada), but 3 items were wrong: corn tortillas instead of flour, salt on daughter's margarita when she has asked for no salt and my husband received the wrong beer. Worst of all, though, the margaritas contained hardly any alcohol making them pretty expensive fruit punch. This may well have been our last visit to Hola!. read more

The only thing good about this place is the service. Even at happy hour for 2 drinks and 3 tiny prawns it was $20.50. Then my husband and I each got an entree and our total bill ended up being $47. I don't mind paying good money for food but I expect good quality, not the case here it tasted all frozen an microwaved. Will not come back. read more

Tried Hola for the first time, in search of a quick, not too expensive lunch to go. Ordered the baby back ribs. It took them 25 minutes to get me my food. Way way too long to get food to go. The ribs are 4 ribs, with absolutely zero meat on them. It is the worst tasting, most over priced lunch I've ever ordered anywhere. And I now have to spend more time and money to get something to eat since this meal consisted of nothing to eat. read more

I'm sad because I used to really like this place for their Peruvian dishes and drinks. Very large and good drinks! However the last 4-5 times I have been, the food has been awful, almost inedible. If I could give this specific Hola! zero stars, that would still be too many. We walked in and waited for a waitstaff to greet us. It didn't happen. Three of them walked by us and another group repeatedly for 10 minutes. The other group finally left. Then another large group walked in right as a big table cleared and they immediately sat down. Finally after stopping two of the waitresses to see how long of a wait, and informing her we had been waiting with and that group sat down without waiting. She said, sorry....about 15 minutes. 20 minutes later another small group got sat and we still stood there. All the while, several groups walked in and right back out without ONE single greeting or acknowledgement from the waitresses. The only greeting anyone got was from the bar tender. I stopped a waitress again to see if she had us on a list and she said no, you didn't ask to be put on one. I informed her we couldn't have if we tried because not one of you made eye contact, greeted anyone or even tried to organize the people walking in and out. She got pissed off at me and yelled at us right in front of everyone saying "Im trying!" If she had actually been trying, I would have graciously waited for a table. None of the three waitresses were worth a shit last night and it was a basic Wednesday night. I would NOT recommend this specific Hola! ever. The Hola! in the Old Mill is wonderful and the staff are on top of things and greet you when you walk in. We were looking for a light dinner, since it was late in the evening. Hola! looked promising from the reviews, so we gave it a try. We each had the chicken taco and chicken enchilada combo, with rice and beans. They were fresh and tasty. The service was good, and the surroundings, festive. We enjoyed it a lot. read more

We had an early dinner on Wed, Jan 16th. We enjoy Peruvian food and split the Saltado with beef. The French fries and green sauce were outstanding along with the other ingredients. We each had a 'Mexican Martini' and agreed it was one of the best drinks we have had. Wonderful Peruvian and Mexican entrees with a wide variety of exceptional (+ large) margaritas! We appreciated the friendly staff (gracias, Brittney!) and our ability to make a reservation for a table ahead of time. This restaurant has it all! My husband had the lenguado (seafood) and I had the seco pollo (chicken), smothered in the cilantro salsa that Hola's is famous for. We were out looking for a place to have dinner. We stopped and read the menu and decided to see what was down the block so started to walk away. A gentleman immediately came outside and invited us to come in and read a menu. He was very personable so we ended up sitting down and having dinner. The service that this host provided was top notch. (wish I could remember his name) The guacamole was made right at the table. yum! And the cocktails were delicious! Ok so after wandering around looking for a place to eat and drink i stumbled into this little place everything was handcrafted and perfect, the drink prices were a bit shocking, but after getting almost 3 full drinks such thoughts were blissfully swept way, I wished that I had more time in bend to eat here more often, there is always next year.
