I have always enjoyed coming to the Mazátlan Restaurant ever since I was little. I've always loved the amazing hospitality, kindness, and hard work shown by the staff. From the hostesses, to the cooks. I've always been so grateful that I had a place to go to that reminded me a lot of home and made me feel welcome. For the food, I don't even know where to begin. The dishes are always excellent. And there are many options to choose from. The menu is always able to give you options, as well as asking the staff for other options as well. And if it's your birthday, don't worry the Mazátlan is there to celebrate with you too! Finally the ambiance is truly unique. From the decorations to the paintings, it feels authentically Mexican and you get a good vibe of being at home, traveling to a new place, or visiting your family simply by walking in. Overall, the Mazátlan is an amazing restaurant with amazing workers who truly love helping people and who love what they do. The six of us (daughter/family and grandparents) have come here for almost 13 years and have enjoyed it whether it was to celebrate a birthday or just to have some together time with food. But this time we didn't enjoy it. They have changed their policy of tacking on an 18% tip to groups of 6 of more (it's been 8 in the past). Since this has never been a concern for us, we didn't notice it on menu nor did our unfriendly, never came back often waitress tells us of this "new" policy. If our waitress would have smiled it would have been much more welcoming. She couldn't' even come back to refill our grandson's Sprite. And by the way that sprite cost $4. After comparing our receipts, which by the way doesn't list what we ate (they keep that), the 6 gave our unfriendly never came back waitress a total of $74.50 tip (our food was $147) ! This is outrageous. The "receipt" that we got listed only the TIP as what was keyed into the machine NOT the 18%, which was included in the item that says "Total". Seems devious. Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant on Hwy 97 Redmond has lost 6 very loyal customers. And when I called them, I got an argument from the person answering the phone. Driving from California visiting the Redmond area for the annual Overland Expo. We found the Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant through Yelp reviews. We were seated quickly. Nice interior design and comfortable booths. Chata the waitress was super friendly. We received our food quickly. We had very large portions for our dinner selections. We had the #13 plate with a cheese enchilada and chile relleno. Super delicious. We also had the Burrito Relleno. It was very good with lots of flavor. Also highly recommend the Nora Margarita! Mazatlan is a great Mexican restaurant! We were seated quickly and had chips and two salsa while we waited. I ordered the one enchilada with chicken. My husband got some loaded burrito. When my single enchilada came out I thought it was wrong because it was a large amount for their small dish. But when my husbands burrito came out I was surprised at how huge it was. We are looking for a nice Mexican Restaurant near our new home and I did not feel like cooking on a cold evening. Our daughter suggested that we try Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant. Parking was easy. We walked in the closest door which was the entrance to the bar. There was a sign directing us to the podium at the main entrance. It took a couple of minutes before we were seated. Warm chips were deliver to the table with a tasty salsa and a mild bean dip. We ordered what we usually order the first time at a new Mexican Restaurant: chicken enchilada and pork tamale for me and chicken enchilada for my wife.
