Went here with my baseball team. One guy was swearing by the "goat tacos". I was a bit skeptical. First, this place looks authentic. You can easily drive by and miss it. We arrived about 45 minutes before closing. They close early on weekdays. We had a guy who spoke spanish order for us. We had 3 hispanic guys with us. He screwed up our orders. We blame him instead of the restaurant. Mainly a way to give him a hard time. I received my food about 10 minutes after everyone else because it turns out they gave my food to another guy. That's when you know it's made to order when it takes that long. Everyone gobbled up their tacos and rice. No complaints. I ordered the tres amigos. I selected 2 goat and 1 carne asada tacos. I like how they are corn tortillas. The goat was crispy which I liked. I was expecting something more gamey. It's a neat place. I'm glad we tried it. read more

Let's be clear this is the best spot I've tried for Birria Tacos and that's all you should order here. I don't want to pull my review down from a 4star because I also tried the carne asada tacos and like I said to begin. If you are going here it's for birria and only birria. The beef and goat (hard to find) were both incredibly flavorful perfectly seasoned with a great red sauce. Just the right amount of heat to pair with the savory. It's a true mom and pop shop, not your typical fast food chain, and that authenticity shines through in every slurp of tasty birria broth. If you're planning to visit during peak hours on Saturday or Sunday, be prepared to wait outside. It's a popular spot, and for good reason. The wait is worth it, but do plan accordingly, especially with the sweltering Arizona heat. My wait outside was about fifteen minutes. I was seated and I immediately ordered the goat birria soup, and it was outstanding. The goat birria soup comes with a generous portion of shredded goat meat--no bones or gristle, thank gawd! The broth was rich and flavorful, far from the bland broths you sometimes encounter. You could really taste the goat meat in every slurp. Service was pretty impressive, especially considering it was a busy Sunday afternoon. My meal was served within three minutes, complete with freshly made tortillas, lime, and optional diced onion and cilantro to garnish. Overall, Hola Cabrito deserves a five-star rating. I've been here twice with a co worker and it's always been great! On the weekends it gets full pretty fast so try to come early before the rush. They have Birria and menudo on the menu.. they also sell goat head if you call and order a head of time.. the service is pretty good minus today.. the waitress could have been better lol read more

I decided to try this place since it's close by and had good reviews. I ordered the birria and a torta de barbacoa. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype. The meat was very bland maybe it's because I didn't get the goat version, but it lacked flavor overall. What really concerned me, though, was the torta I ordered for my son. It had large bones inside, and he almost hurt his tooth. I'm not sure why bones would be in a torta in the first place. It was a disappointing and even dangerous experience. I won't be coming back. I love birria, especially if it's made with goat meat. There are not many places that have goat birria and was excited to try this restaurant and the goat birria. When we arrived there were many people waiting outside. We waited about 20 to 30 minutes before being seated. The restaurant inside is not huge and it's pretty loud. As soon as we sat down our server came and brought a menu and took our drink order. They do offer beef birria if you don't like goat. We ordered 1/2 a pound of meat which includes 6 tortillas, which are hhomemade, and some broth. Once you order, the food comes out immediately. The birria was amazing. It had such great flavor. The broth was delicious and I love that you can get garbanzos in the broth. The 1/2 pound was plenty for two people. We even had leftovers. We did order extra tortillas to take home with the leftovers. Our server was great and checked on us often. I definitely will be back and I'm so glad I tried this place. This is as authentic as it gets! We went on a whim and it was well worth the 45 minute drive down there. They start you off with a tray of lime, onion, cilantro, and house hot sauce. Husband had Fresca in a glass bottle. He was very excited that the sodas were all glass bottles! He also had Carne Asada Torta which was in pointe. I was nervous to go since spice really isn't my thing. But the carne taco and Birria quesadilla were seasoned well. They were rich in flavor without being too hot. The ambience was friendly and you could tell there were many regulars there. Service was good for how busy they were but after our order, we barely saw out waitress. Service here sucks. We walked in and the waitress Samantra said "do you want a menu?" Well how the heck are we supposed to order??? She must have adhd or something because she kept forgetting about the customers, because they got up to ask her for things, including myself. When she finally came back to our table, she apologized and admitted she was in the back messing around, and then does it again. My first time here, a Foodie outing with Meetup Group called Wild Dining on April 2, 2022. there were 11 people at 3 tables. I ordered their house special goat stew or birria in the broth $13.95, and treated myself to a Mexican Coke, but didn't know it costs $3.49. The goat stew was so delicious, pieces of goat had plenty of membrane attached, as if it was tripe. it waas cooked like tripe, too. They cooked the goat A LONG TIME to get it THAT SOFT! I give the goat stew 5 stars for taste. Goat is served with 3 handmade flour totillas. No chips and salsa at this place. The reason why I am giving 3 stars instead of 5 stars that i thought the goat stew achieved, is because of the service. The organizer of this event already alluded that the servers didn't speak English and this will be part of the ethnic expperience, in case this wasn't your cup of tea, and she asked is there anyone who could speak Spanish when we go. Well I experienced what she meant. I couldn't make the server understand what I wanted, even a cup of ice to have with my bottled Coke. Poor thing, always had to go and get someone else to translate something so simple. And in the end, she doesn't bring it to me. Nothing i asked for, was understood and brought to me, till long after, when I saw someone else and asked them. She acted as if she got it and was gonna bring it, but then it wouldn't come, such as more onions and cilantro, which was served with our food like condiments. They forgot my flan, too, had to remind them. I liked the flan, rich and thick, but didn't like the sauce, it was kinda like raspberry sauce, made the flan sour and tart. All in all, service was like "the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing", but I suppose it adds to the truly authentic ethnic experience, cos I didn't speak Spanish, and therefore had the Gringo experience. shows how authentically Mexican this place is. Love goat meat? Want to eat a goat head? Well look no further and head on here! I am by no means a fan of anything goat, so I was not excited when my friend took me to eat here... I can never see myself trying goat meat. (I had a pet goat that I really loved) Anyways, we stopped by on a rainy Wednesday for lunch and this place was busy! The parking lot was full and so was the inside. We were short on time so we ordered to go. I was glad when I saw that they did offer other meats besides the goat meat.. I went with three carne asada tacos, and my friend had a pound of the goat meat. This came with a large cup of consomé (goat broth) that had garbanzo beans in it. The tacos were delicious! The tortillas tasted fresh and they were handmade. The salsa was super spicy, but good! My friend raved that the goat meat was delicious, and he was able to make like 12 tacos with all the meat... I had the birria de chivo tacos and I ordered the birria de res plato with the consume on the side, but i believe i received un media libra de res in consume with ranchero beans... ranchero beans are chic peas here. I'll start with the Amazing... The birria de chivo was simply delectable! It was so good. If i had not ordered birria de res with consume, I'd easily give them 5 stars. I can't say enough how amazing the birria de chivo tasted.... It practically melted in mouth it was so tender and delicately cooked. The meat was seasoned to perfection. After eating my chivo taco, I could not wait to start on the birria de res and have some.of the consume. To be honest, i love the broth of anything so very much. I love birria because of the consumé.... Here is where things turned south for me... The res was not as flavorful and tasty as the chivo, which could have been overlooked were it not for the consumé. The consumé lacked in the deep rich flavor that i expected. I found it hard to believe that the meat, chivo or res, was cooked in that watered down consumé. Nevertheless, the food was served quickly. I had a to go to order... I was asked to wait in my car outside and a few minutes later... My food was delivered to me. The staff was very nice and pleasant. Also... You can't miss Hola Cabrito! Lol. What amazed me about the place is how juicy and tender the goat meat was, & the tortillas are freshly made every morning. Not sure why a place called "hello Mr. Goat" caught my attention when in Phoenix, but when I see signs saying "birria" I'm thinking hole in the wall dusty parking lot serving up beer. Well I guess I need to go back to Spanish class because we are talking goat stew is their specialty. Walked in and I was definitely the only English speaker patronizing the place. Good news is the waitress sad Si when I asked for verduras options so decided to take a seat. As mentioned all the tables here were feasting on the large bowls of goat with spices tortillas and sides of rice and beans. So that's what 99% of people come me here for. So for the 1% of people who like their Mex veggie style they have both a vegan tamale with quinoa and tacos made of jackfruit both vegan offerings.. They also have rice and refined beans and with no animal products. I decided to try one of each of the vegan offerings with a side of the beans. The waitress was friendly and came to take my order quickly so the service was great. The inside atmosphere was a bit strange with some tables having tables having plastic separation walls that looked a bit tacky but I guess they keep out certain viruses from co-mingling between tables :D Both my dishes came quickly and were teeny tiny. I don't think I've seen a tamale that small, the taco was just like those ones you get in Mexico at the bars that are like $1. Now I'm not complaining as the food here is damn cheap. But for those with big bellies you may need a few more water f these guys to fill you up. So while I was waiting for the beans to arrive I started to need bible on the tamale and it was very good. The corn outer shell was very fresh and the inside was tasty with the quinoa and veggies. The jackfruit taco was a bit disappointing. It looked spicy but the taste was a bit on the bland and sweet side. They do give you some cilantros and onions in sealed baggies you can add as well as a plastic cup of both red and green salsa, but do don't do a lot to pep it up. The salsas needed more spice, this was more for gringos...oh well Being that the dishes were both small my hunger overtook me and before I could snap my fingers they were gone, done, like terminado! Lady got busy so could not flag her on where my frijolles were??By the time she came back it was a bit not worth getting a sole bowl of beans so told her to please take off the tab muy bien. The verdict is I like hole in the wall places like this so 5 stars there. Atmospheric could improve if they take off all the plastic between tables. Would like regular plates to serve my food nice and hot not Luke warm and reheated feel. The tamales were good the tacos need work with maybe grilled onions and veggies in there with some more spicy hot chilies etc. if I actually got the beans to make the meal complete I would have leaned more towards the 4 stars but that's were it stands as a first time try. Welcomed very kindly, fun atmosphere, yet authentic and hole in the wall vibes at the same time. The food was on point, you can smell the goat stew fragrances when you walk in and it sets the scene. Wonderful experience and excellent service. We visited during a short r&r vacation at a scottsdale resort. In search for an authentic Mexican restaurant we learned of Hola Cabrita from an Eater list. We ubered over and experienced the best meal of the trip. We had the goat birria with consommé and shared 1lb between the two of us. I ordered the tacos de jaca (jackfruit), which came with cilantro, lime, and onion. The vegan tamale has the addition of quinoa and hemp seeds, which was unexpectedly delicious. The restaurant itself was spotless, with murals decorating the walls and other traditional Mexican decor. For Covid, plastic separates dining areas and all employees wear masks, as well as a QR code for no-touch menus and plastic covered food between the kitchen and table.
