Writing this because I just recommended Holbrook to a friend and I was shocked I'd not done a review, we LOVE Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning! The new furnace they installed 7 or 8 years ago, works perfectly and we loved their integrity, so much, we have had them for the Air Conditioning, too! In a past life (50 years ago), I worked with Air Conditioning and know that we get what we pay for... the gas furnace we purchased from Holbrook was their top line and we could not be more pleased! A few years ago when I was caregiver for my father 24/7 I hired Fancher's a local Heating & A/C co. to fix collapsed baffles to the 2 north bedrooms . They spliced the areas with cut pieces but did not work. I scheduled a tune up with Holbrook thru a Home Depot tune up offer and told them the previous attempt by Fancher to fix the problem didn't work. . . I am 82 years old I was a design contractor and built this house. Central AC had two bedrooms with no air due to collapsed baffles . I wanted two lengths of new baffles distributed from the transfer center in the attic to the two bedrooms. Hollbrook came for a inspection, evaluated the situation and said I would need x amount of length of baffle and will schedule app't. I did not think that was enough length of baffle the mechanic quoted for replacing the lengths of baffle I figured needed so I called to ask Holbrook to ask the repair person if she had ordered enough baffle to cover the length of reaching 2 bedrooms, later told me yes she is sure. On June 11 After 1 1/2 hr of work charged me $348.00 said she spliced in 2 new runs to the bedrooms, I don't recall her checking the bedrooms for air flow. That evening I discovered there was no difference in air flow but the same as before. I called Holbrook and told them and sent another repair man, who agreed there was no sufficient air flow so he tried to make a temporary adjustment to the collapsed pieced extension baffles. He checked and found they were not producing any more air than before, Holbrook said they would order an additional amount of baffle mat'l based on the latest repair man's estimate of additional baffle needed to "refix" the ongoing problem. @ 190.00 per hr plus materials. This has been over 2 months of the hottest humid summer nights without A/C and I have had Cardiac surgery and I needed to have my A/C working. My street was being repaved so we had to reschedule to a later date. They scheduled the job and after hours of redoing most of the previous work the repairman added baffle lengths to the additional collapsed areas by splicing them to open up the airways. This attempt was supposed to have fixed the problem. When it was all done before issuing a bill I asked the boss to subtract the charge of the the previous work that failed to fix the problem and charge me the amount based on the time and materials of this re-do. After arguing awhile the boss agreed to take a small percentage off the charge of the first attempt to fix the problem........Really? ......... The remainder of the failed attempt cost plus the new charges totaled over $1,000 .......... .....Now here is the result .........It doesn't work any better, still not much air to the bedrooms. I asked that the amount to be charged on the scheduled new fix on 8/14 2025 will be minus the $348 I paid for the 1/1/2 hr work performed which did not work and has to be done over and paid only after checked and working properly...or a full refund of $348 which is more than fair considering I had to sleep in the hot stuffy bedrooms with cardiac vascular health issues for over 2 months. Honest and humble apology would also be in order since I will not pursue in any manner legally or by media to discredit Holbrook's reputation, however I will post a factual review of my experience with Holbrook. With sincere respect, however they show no consideration for my knowledge of the method I wanted it to be done, instead ended up in this expensive lengthy "botch" job. Conclusion: I feel although the work was earnestly done, 1st, it wasn't performed in the way I wanted it therefore by only splicing the collapsed portions were not successful as done before as I explained to them. 2nd: The temporary fix didn't even tie me over, and 3rd: The final extensive day of re doing and adding new lengths of baffle didn't produce much more results. That is much to pay for poor results. The repairman said he understood but the manager bypassed my intelligence by supporting the valid protocol of the method of all they did which was not the way to properly fix the problem since I was the contract builder and know exactly how the AC lines were distributed and the proper fix would be to replace the baffle lengths from the central distribution center separately to the two bedrooms, also I wanted the water condensation buildup evaluated for further replacement to prevent further leaks which wasn't considered. In conclusion I was definitely treated as I was an old man to be intimidated by a superior, all knowing intelligence to be taken for granted and not be considered for any worth except for determined and demand for payment. I was charged an incredible amount of money for an over excessive amount of work which was basically the same method the job by Fancher performed and didn't work instead of the way I suggested to repair by replacing two new baffle lines in the first place which would have done the job efficiently and successfully for less. read more

We had a central AC unit installed by Holbrook Heating on June 2nd, 2024. Shockingly, the unit broke down just over a year later--on June 26th, 2025--after only 3-4 months of actual use. The technician diagnosed a failed compressor, which is completely unacceptable for a newly installed system. Although we were still within the one-year parts warranty, we were charged a service fee for the visit, which we accepted. However, when it came time to replace the compressor, the company gave us two options: pay $500-$700 for expedited shipping or wait for free shipping that would take 5-10 days. Given that the unit had barely been used, we chose not to spend extra and opted for standard shipping. It has now been 15 days--10 full business days--and we are still without an AC in the middle of one of the hottest summers, with no updates or timeline provided by Holbrook Heating. We followed up multiple times, and the customer service has been shockingly unprofessional and dismissive. One representative even told me, "I don't have any AC and I can sleep just fine--you need to manage yourself." That level of attitude and lack of empathy from a service company is completely unacceptable. We are beyond frustrated. We paid thousands of dollars for a system that failed in just over a year, and now we are left with no air conditioning, no clear updates, and no real support from the company that installed it. I do not recommend Holbrook Heating to anyone. Their product failed far too early, their warranty service is slow and costly, and their customer service is rude and unhelpful. They came out yesterday to give me a quote on a new boiler system! They came at me with 9,500 which seems really fair! I had another company quote me 16,000 for just one unit which was really over priced! I must say though what really was kind of a turn off of this company however was the sale guy that came out and did the estimate! He did not really seem like he wanted to be there and didn't really interact with me that well nor did he make eye contact which is a very good indicator that the don't have respect for the customer. They don't arrive at appointments and then tell you the person who made the appointment "is no longer employed by them" and then get mad because you no longer want to schedule an appointment with them? We gave them the chance to rectify their unprofessional behavior and attitude, and were completely unimpressed. They screwed up installing our Mitsubishi units - one drained inside the house, we had to have an electrician come and fix what they did to our wiring , holes drilled in the wrong place - an absolute mess. Every tech we had out here told us something different - that we could/couldn't/didn't need to change the filters. The final straw was the call - 8 hours past my appt time - from a tech at 6:30 PM to see if we still wanted him to show up! Then we switched to Family Danz and all our problems went away. read more

Lowe's sent Holbrook heating to install a new heat pump. The job was done poorly and not to code. Could have burned my house down. A BBB complaint was filed and Lowe's will never be used again. Had to have it replaced by a reputable company for 13k dollars after Holbrook walked off the job. read more

This review is about the mini split heat sinks that Holbrook installs. It is a Lennox system. This unit was purchased in 2020. It has a 10 year warranty on parts and had a 1 year warranty on labor. EVERY YEAR something has broken. EVERY YEAR. The first year the system leaked refrigerant because the installation was poor. Warrantied right? Nope . Not the refrigerant. So that was hundreds of dollars. It took months to get that fixed and then the technician noticed that the heat sink was off the concrete slab it was "supposed" to be placed on. They don't move and vibrate enough to "slide" off a concrete slab. Another installation problem. Management was kind enough to acknowledge their poor workmanship after I sent them photos and "credited" me the charge to place it where it was supposed to in the first place. That is year 2. Year 3. There is a very slight noise in one of the blower heads during maintenance. I didn't even notice it. That had to be fixed because if it wasn't, it would void my warranty because the problem was identified and needed to be addressed. So that had to be replaced at $190/hour. Did I mention that the routine maintenance was over $300 each year? Year 4. Unit was leaking inside. I call and have to wait for an opening. I used google and end up using a shop vac to clear the hose. Year 4 continues.... Back in year 3 I call Holbrook and tell them that the unit is encased in ice and the fan is hitting the ice inside. They tell me that the ice is normal. So i buy a heat gun and go outside and melt enough ice off so that the fans turn freely. Fast forward to this year. Same ice buildup. Unit throws a P6 error code. I call and get someone out here who says "I can't do anything about that. We have to wait for it to defrost...". It's the winter and currently 25 degrees.... So how long will this take... he says a long time.... He semms to indicate that this problem is not uncommon, So I ask why they can't defrost it. He says he knows of someone who bought a salamander heater and used that to melt the ice. The cheapest one I found was $149 and uses propane. I ask why Holbrook doesnt have one for these issues.... I won't write the answer to protect the technician. This cost over $200 for someone to tell me that they can't help me... It should be noted that ALL the technicians that have come have been pleasant, honest, and professional. The service itself has been excellent. This is the primary heat source upstairs. I have a furnace for secondary that I am now using for downstairs. The upstairs also has electric heat which will have to be utilized. This will cost a significant amount of money in utilities. I don't even remember how much this thing costs. Definitely over $11,000. It's only been 4 years so of course the payment is coming out of my account and going to them. DO NOT purchase one of these. With any luck someone in NYS government will rescind their directive and not force these units to become the norm. This has been the absolute worst purchase that I have made as an adult... The salesman was wonderful and full of promises that were not met. The installation crew was fantastic. On time, friendly, professional. HOWEVER, they drilled a hole in my wall that went into my chimney, rendering the home potentially dangerous. They took responsibility but said...too bad, we don't fix holes in walls. TLDR: 5 months with no work and little contact. I'm not sure if they're incompetent, inexperienced, or just lazy, but the sales and parts teams of this business are useless. They will always tell you the next step is just two weeks away, but thus far it has been three months and they just let me know it will be at least two more. Not a single step of this process has gone well with Holbrook, strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Initiated everything back in early June, signed everything early July. After a few weeks with no contact, I started trying to reach out for an installation appointment. Finally got through in early August and was told that they did not have coils. Ok, well enough, they could have communicated this instead of going radio silent, but I understand how hectic shipping is. Another few weeks go by with no contact. My emails are not answered, and the sales/parts departments neither pick up or return calls- keep in mind we've already been making payments on an HVAC we don't have for two months at this point. I finally move to cancel my order to get someone more reliable, lo and behold coils are suddenly available, installation is scheduled for two weeks later. Installation date comes, and literally 1 hour before they are supposed to arrive I get a call letting me know installation has been cancelled. Turns out they ordered the wrong parts and now the rough estimate is 2 MORE MONTHS FROM NOW. So, on top of this now being at least 5 months of payments with no work on their end, we also moved our schedule around so my wife and newborn could be at my parents this week. I've worked as a both a plumbing contractor and a carpenter- this is a huge series of inconveniences that could have been avoided by literally anyone looking at the paperwork. read more

Unfortunately, I've spoken to Stacy now several times. We had four technicians out and four diagnoses of our system. We eventually had a new one installed. Guess what? It didn't work. We had a technician come out and apologize that it was not the furnace but rather ice blocking the intake. $6800 we have a new furnace, but did we need one? We also paid for the original service call where they just rebooted the old furnace, something I already did. I've been waiting for well over a week for them to clear a solution by their Vice President. I'm not sure who the Vice President is but I'd love to hear from her/him. Made half of the payment (2.5k) in order to get things started on 7/25. The nothing. I went to Lowe's who connected me with this installer on 8/1 and i was told since it was the summer give it another week before the installer calls me. I wait until 8/7 and leave a message asking them what was going on. Ryan leaves a voicemail letting me know they were waiting for a permit. They could have called me and let me know that instead of waiting for me to call them after 13 days after the required half payment rendered. Later I learned it was their policy not to notify customers of a tentative schedule until they have everything ready because they do not want to upset the customer. Really? I would think it was more upsetting to be sitting there for 13 days waiting in the dark. Not even an acknowledgement that they received the security payment and they were working on getting me into their schedule. . On 8/11 the a/c wall unit was installed. I paid the remaining half (2.5k) as soon as they finished the work. From day 1 the cooling system did not work. The temperature was set at 61F for hours and the temperature in the room was still 79 F. After the weekend I tried calling and it was difficult to talk to someone. Hold time was long. Finally Andrew came out on 8//17 and found out there was ZERO refrigerant and suspected there was a leak somewhere. Most likely in the refrigerant line he said. He apologized and said the office would call and schedule someone to come out and find the leak and fix it. Up to this point I was okay. Unexpected things happen. Mistakes are made. I called the office to let them know i still had the permit which expires Aug 2024 if they needed it. And I wanted to find out when they could schedule me because I wanted to use the a/c unit before summer was over. The a/c wall unit was installed on the second level so the technician would definitely have to use ladder to find leak and fix. Maybe they need another permit I thought and I did not wait another 17 days to get the a/c fixed. When I spoke with Kelley and Stacey both of them made it impossible for me give any kind of a positive experience with this company. Everything that they did up to that point that did not bother me now irritated me. I was willing to work with them, but when a customer representative tells me, " the refrigerant line is not on the the list, so if you want a new line replaced, you would have to pay for it. " Did I put a leak in the line? If you are telling me you don't know when the leak detecting tool is coming in and until that tool arrives, i would have to wait. Is it that unreasonable for a customer to ask for a new refrigerant line since the company does not know when they can find the leak and fix it? My objective was to get the a/c fixed and running asap. The way the customer rep spoke it could have been September? Or later? For me to get "rescheduled" And in the grand scheme of things 5k in total how much does the refrigerant line cost anyways? Instead of giving me tentative date, Kelley repeated the same thing S L O W L Y like I was some kind of an idiot and I did not understand her the first time. Until I asked to speak to the office manager I did not even get a tentative date when they could come out because they did know when the tool would be in (per the parts manager). it would upset the customer per their protocol so until they know the date when the tool comes in, they don't tell the customer the schedule date or something. Which would make the customer more upsetting? Does this policy make any sense? Not to me. The office manager repeated the same thing to me. Their policy and why Kelley did not give me the tentative date. No apologies from neither one of them for the system not working. Stacey totally back up what Kelley did and why she did it and how it was according to their policy. So it was me and not Kelley. Totally made me feel inappropriate for complaining. Kelley - when I asked to speak to a manager, made sure I heard "OH MY GOD" then as I was saying something cuts me off and puts me on hold. Apparently to get a manager. Then Stacey - lies and says she did apologize. Yes. But not until I pointed out that neither one of of them apologized. Then Stacey apologized. I mean ~~~ unbelievable. Later that day Nick called me and tried to smooth things over and do a little house cleaning and damage control I guess. Appreciated the call. But you cannot undo what was done already. I would not recommend this company to anyone. At the end it was a nightmare. I just want to get the a/c fixed. And hopefully i do not want to speak to neither Kelley or Stacey ever again. read more

Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern. Bait and Switch is built into Holbrook's system. A former tenant of mine called me for a recommendation on an HVAC company to replace his gas furnace. I recommended he use Holbrook Heating Inc.,, Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning, a Home Depot Authorized contractor to install a unit he purchased directly from carrier. He called them and they quoted him about $1000.00, but no more than $1200.00. When they came install the unit, he explained to the HVAC tech, he was replacing the furnace because the basement floods up to a foot when the snow melts and it killed the old furnace and could they lift up the furnace to protect the new one? When they were done, they put the new furnace on the basement floor and tried to charge him over $1800.00. He complained and they came back to install 4" lifter blocks. When he explained again to the rude customer service rep the basement floods up to a foot. Their response was we are not doing this again. He said he would not pay until they made it right. They stopped responding. When I called Holbrook Heating Inc., Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning, a Home Depot Authorized contractor to quote a new hot water heating system for a new house I was building, they quoted a Mitsubishi Split unit and the hot water baseboard heat using PEX for the baseboard heating system (I will get to this in a minute). Before they quoted, they said my account had an outstanding balance of $1800.00 and they could not come to do it until it was paid. I explained it was for a former tenant of mine, but they didn't care, I told them I would investigate. I went back to the tenant and he told me about the issue with the bait and switch and how they quoted him no more than $1200.00. I called Holbrook back because we are neighbors, I didn't want any hard feelings as a result of my action of recommending them, so I paid them with the understanding we would be back to square one and on good terms, in fact they wrote as much on the invoice I paid. When I hadn't heard from them on my new project, I went to see Randy Holbrook, the son of the founder and the person responsible for their hyper expansion and his words not mine "over extension" of the company to build a force in the north east. We met in Randys office and he appologied and said someone would come out and take care of my project. Randy sent out Mitch Skeele, the son of on of Randys partners, Jeff Skeele to quote my system because (mitches words not mine) "they are a Mitsubishi Diamond dealer and he was uniquely qualified to spec the project because is in the field for 14 years" I thought it was a bit strange for someone 30 years old to be working in HVAC for 14 years. Mitch met me at my house and office gave me four different proposals, the final one being one we agreed upon a price, delivery and deposit. Their deposit request on the quote was "50% down, balance upon completion". I requested to delay the Mitsubishi installation because I wanted to focus on the heat for the winter and we would get to the Mitsubishi split units in 2020. He then requested to step out and speak with both his father, Jeff and Randy the owners. When he came back he was visibly shocked. He said "I am just a messenger, you have to pay 100% of the quote for us to take the job" - a second bait and switch. This is obviously a new business tactic put in place by the son, Randy as previously I had used Holbrook Heating Inc,, Holbrook Heating and Air Conditioning, a Home Depot Authorized contractor for decades. Now back to the PEX, I have two burnham boilers which run at 187° Fahrenheit. In a plumbing project, the PEX is able to stand a maximum heat of up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. So the project they quoted was guaranteed to quickly fail over the winter. Two bait and switches and a scam quote that would have bilked me for over $42,000.00. read more

I went to Home Deport looking to buy a replacement central AC unit on April of 2020. They had an area designated just for that so I called the number and within a week a sales rep. from Holbrook Heating showed up for an estimate. The pricing worked for me especially since the contract stated 5 yr parts warranty and 3 yr labor warranty; unfortunately, 1 day before a yr, the unit stopped blowing cold air. Even more, I actually moved out in January of 2020 but naturally I told the new home owners about the new major appliance and the warranty since the executed contracts had no non-transferable stipulation written on it. Once Holbrook was contacted on the non-operational central air conditioning unit they just installed under a year ago, they conveniently stated the warranty isn't transferable, even though that isn't stated anywhere in the contracts. In addition, they made me pay them directly to cut out HD which voided the HD Home Services warranty which would have covered it!! read more

Unbelievably bad service. Installed new central AC and Heating late September through Home Depot. The salesman promised a number of things and the installation crew made some changes. The system works, kind of, but is extremely inefficient, costing a fortune to warm the house. I called every week for two months to get someone to make some repairs. They sent a crew out twice to look at it identifying problems with the original installation. I think eventually, they will fix it, but it's a huge pain for me. This company lacks any form of customer service and their work is not only disappointing but will be detrimental to your home. Holbrook gladly took our payment in full after we signed a contract for a heat pump and said that they would reach out to schedule the installation. After over 2 months with no communication, they finally let us know the original piece of equipment we were contracted for was unavailable and tried to upsell us on a new one. After finally coming to an agreement on what heat pump we were getting the installation then took 3 technicians 3 days to "complete". They took off without explaining a single thing, left our basement a mess, and we found multiple screws/part pieces lying on the side of the unit. We turned the system on to test it out and left it running overnight. In the morning we went down to the basement and found all the pipes FROZEN solid and dripping on/in our furnace. This was because they installed the cooling coils facing the wrong way so all of the air backed up into the blower/heat pump cause everything, including the pump itself, to completely freeze causing damage to the system. We again had to call several times to get another technician to come out. He came and worked for another full day to fix the issues caused by the first installation team. Again, he left without explaining a single thing. We later realized that the drainage pipe blocks our ability to change the air filter in our furnace. Their work, and the customer service we received, have not only been disappointing but detrimental to our furnace and pipes. For a piece of equipment that is such a large investment, we are beyond disappointed, and frankly disgusted, at the service we received. We sincerely hope others will proceed with extreme caution when using this company and that Home Depot revokes their endorsement immediately. read more

They left our carpet stained, but it was ok after we had it professionally cleaned. This week we had an appointment for annual service - no show and no call - very unprofessional. Why you didn't get the job. You priced me @ 20k+ dollars for a basic system , You recommended a 9k unit for my living room kitchen unit and 2 6k units up stairs.Well the 9 k unit was too small a 15 k was installed and 2 9 k upstairs . Finally I had a hyper system installed (Mitsubishi ) .The installers worked with me and only used one conduit on the side of the house,Something you weren't interested in hearing or doing . All the rebaits were handled by the installer and my out of pocket was 14K. I got more BTUs as your suggested units were not big enough. If I went with your suggestions I would have gotten a basic under performing system with no heat. read more

We had yearly maintainence service and repair work done to our Mitsubishi ductless units last year. It cost us close to $2000! 1 man all day, sitting by the unit claiming he had to wait for the unit to pressurise. Absolutly the worst experience. If you can find a Mitsubishi dealer, use them. Stay Away! I contracted with them to install an entire home air conditioning system, ductwork and vents on two floors of my home. Not only was it improperly installed (a Home Depot contract) but they never came back to repair the errors. As a further warning; This was done in Westchester County and the company has since gone out of business. Their attitude now is "too bad find someone else". Mediocre to poor service, switching to Crisafulli. Only positives: they installed AC on preexisting, recent furnace, all ducts there already, and past maintenance visits ok, but always at their convenience, not yours. Negatives: Latest AC cleaning appt was bumped by them from May to June, didn't fit their Columbia County schedule. Then recently discovered AC didn't work, but power OK. Scheduled expensive emergency visit, only phone diagnosis Q wad check circuit breaker. Tech arrives, misdiagnosed, then correctly diagnoses but doesn't have part with him, have to order it and do another visit. Complaint isn't about cost of second visit, minimal, but about extremely high emergency charge when you are unable to fix and get AC at same time. Waste of lots of $. Then had to schedule follow up for new part, but at their convenience, only Wednesdays in Columbia County. Would've had to wait a few weeks if not lucky enough to have cleaning scheduled, albeit 2 weeks later. Couldn't wait, heat wave, so Crisafulli came same week, had part, Lennox dealer, Capital District focused, not farflung like Holbrook, Syracuse to Poughkeepsie, stretched too thin, all about their convenience, not yours. 0 stars for this one! STAY AWAY!! They installed a 90% efficiency LP boiler in my house. I have been out of the house and had the thermostat set at 58. I am burning almost 10 gallons of LP a DAY! They have had a "tech" there 8 or 9 times. They installed it incorrectly. The install team supposedly used the wrong sized gas line. The new tech installed the correct line and made adjustments. They did nothing to correct the problem. The boiler only reaches 160 degrees after 1.5 to 2 hours later. it NEVER reaches the proper operating temp of 170 to 180. (Per Lenox) WORST service. Holbrook installed two wall hanging style gas heaters for circulating hot water. Nov. 2016. Today I had an automatic valve and switch failure they serviced same day and all is well. Nov 2019. They don't even answer their phones anymore. Maybe even the operator has Covid. My furnaces which I bought and installed by them a couple of years ago malfunctioned and could not get them going on one of the coldest nights last week. Always had great service and fair value from Holbrook. First used in 2013 for an A/C emergency repair, subsequently bought a furnace and central A/C unit, they have always shown up for their annual cleaning calls when promised. Highly recommend this company read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Absolutely the WORST and most unethical service I've ever encountered. This company attempts to ROB senior citizens and will not rectify their own mistakes ... they do a half-assed, incorrect job and then keep charging customers more and more when they have to come back. Please go elsewhere ... during the record-breaking, freezing winter, Holbrook was slow to respond (leaving senior citizens with a dysfunctional heater for 2 weeks in 9 degree weather) ... failed to fix the heather the first time, and now after THREE visits from Holbrook, the heater is STILL not working and they keep charging more and more money for each visit. You'd be better served by finding a different HVAC company that will fix your heater correctly the first time and provide better service. Holbrook is the WORST. RUN AWAY! read more

Had been a customer for 3 years - gas furnace and central air cleaning. Never again! My hot water heater wasn't working. Pilot was out and they came & started it. They left- pilot went out again. They sent another tech- he said it needed a part. Replaced that. Still didn't work. Said it needed another part. $700 of bills later they said they can't fix it, you need a $2,100 new one includes installation. Guess what - my brother came to look at it and there was an animal nest in vent to outdoors. Guess what- furnace works fine now. Would have spent all this $$$$$$ for nothing. Watch out as they don't take the time to diagnose - just throw in parts and cost you$$$$$. Never again. read more

Fred, the lead technician, seemed very competent, and appears to have done a good job installing new natural gas furnace and central AC units. In fact, after the National Grid tech had (allegedly) done a pressure check, Fred found a small leak in the gas line in the basement, which is particularly impressive, because not only were we having a conversation at the time, but I couldn't hear it even after Fred pointed it out! The house could have blown up, were it not for Fred's auditory acuity; I shudder thinking how bad it could have been. Fred and his assistant left some fallout from the oil-burning furnace on the back porch and back steps during its removal, but made no effort to clean it up: aside from that they were professional. The furnace and AC units themselves, however, are not impressive: in fact, a technician is due soon to try to determine why the airflow is so weak: the AC system can barely cool ONE floor, and works for hours to do so; the furnace is somewhat quieter than the oil-burner it replaced, but it runs for much longer, which is bothersome. read more

Being new to the area we decided to pay more and go with a a HomeDepot installer. We purchased a central AC unit and propane forced air heating system. After the initial installation we noticed water on basement floor after watching it for a while determined that the drain for the condensate pump was never hooked to the drain and they did leave a filter in the system. Called them they came back and corrected those problems. Then we had the propane company come out but they wouldn't hook up the tanks because the gas line wasn't fully grounded. Called again they came out to add grounding then propane company installed tanks. Next the system would run for 5 minutes and shutoff for 20 mins and repeat. Realized that they had relocated the thermostat from the hallway to right over the heating vent. Then I noticed that instead of running the thermostat cable in the wall they cheated up through the duct work. Called them again, I never got a call back from the guy who sold us the system. Eventually they came out again and decided to move it back to its original location. Short cycling got better but still not right. After burning through 2 tanks of propane I finally bought a better thermostat and finally the system it working properly. I didn't see the point in calling them again and missing more work for poor workmanship. I would never recommend them for any work and no one has ever followed up with me to insure that I have had all my issues resolved. Good system, over priced, poorly installed with poor customer service. read more
