After wanting to try Da Rae K-BBQ & Soon Tofu for a while, we finally stopped by--and I'm glad we did. The banchan was delicious and had a nice variety, including radish stem kimchi, cucumber kimchi, fish cakes, soybean paste with nuts, fried eggplant, and more. Everything tasted fresh and well made. We started with the fried dumplings, which were crispy on the outside and filled with really tasty filling. The soybean stew was packed with flavor and had potatoes, onions, and zucchini--super comforting. The short ribs were juicy and flavorful, especially with a side of rice. The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy, and the dipping sauce added just the right touch of sweetness. Even the salad was good, with a dressing that wasn't too overpowering. They serve hot barley tea and water, and you can buy canned soft drinks if you want something else. Everything we had was delicious--honestly, there wasn't anything I didn't like. Prices were fair, and the customer service was great. Our waitress checked on us several times to make sure we were good and even showed us how to make rice porridge using the hot barley tea and the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot, which ended up being really good too. The inside of the restaurant is very clean, well-lit, and has lots of natural color (tans, brown). It appears to have been recently remodeled. There is plenty of seating and open space. This is a great casual place for good Korean food. The food is fresh and tasty. The Samgyetang is great- classic, as it should be... it's not QUITE at 'Halmony' status (you know, fall off the bone soft, exquisite varieties of ginger & ginseng, etc.) but it is very good. The presentation of the Dol Sot Bibimbap is excellent; they use a large open face bowl instead of the standard tall-sides bowl. It really makes the dish look great. I have been to DaRae several times. The third time, it was later on a Friday night; my guess is it had been a busy night and they didn't have time to fully heat the stone bowls because it wasn't hot enough to produce the crispy rice. I wish this place was around when I lived in Corona. Came here for lunch and had a really good time. I'm used to korean bbq when it comes to korean food so this was a nice change of pace. However, not sure what the other recent reviews refer to, but we did not get the complimentary green onion pancake anymore. I really liked this fried little appetizer. The sides were still similar of kimchi (one bite was very fishy), pickled radish, pickled cucumber, broccoli etc. but they no longer have the fried fish cake. I have always wanted to try Da Rae K-BBQ & Soon Tofu in Corona and finally stopped by for a Thursday lunch takeout. I am so glad I did. This place has that cozy mom and pop shop vibe and while it was pretty quiet during lunch, it gave me time to check out their menu. They have lunch specials that are actually a really good deal for the portion sizes. I ordered the bibimbap and the spicy beef stew (yukgaejang) and both were delicious. The flavors were rich, comforting, and tasted homemade. The portions were big and you also get banchan sides included. There was a small hiccup because the bulgogi with my bibimbap was not fully cooked through. Since I took mine to go, I just finished cooking it at home and it was still tasty. Mistakes happen and the flavors more than made up for it. The staff was very friendly and I am already excited to come back and try more dishes. We got the Korean BBQ combo with Chicken Bulgogi and the Beef Tofu Soup. The Chicken Bulgogi was almost flavorless and unseasoned, which was weird because it almost seemed like they messed up in preparing the food. I think this location got bought out or has new management as it is no longer called Da Rae K. No complaints on the tofu soup, however the only had one heat "setting", being mild. I am used to soon tofu soup having multiple levels of spiciness. Also no raw egg is offered without the soup, this I also found odd. Also, banchan was very disappointing. This is what makes the meal for me. Kimchi was not fermented enough and was a pale orange color, fishcake was not offered without you asking, there were no cucumbers, scallion pancake,seasoned bean sprouts, potatoes, or noodles. The flounder offered was very tasty but again, offered at the end of the meal when we were wrapping up. I'm used to this being offered at the beginning or during meal. I think I would only go back if they ramped up their banchan but I did ask, and they said they won't really rotate their banchan :( staff was very attentive but the food will make or break it for me. Had been bummed with Jinhan in Corona being officially closed but then having Da Rae open up with new management nearby has been one of the best surprises this year! Husband and I went in for a late dinner about an hour before closing but the restaurant was still full and we received immediate and friendly service. They have the usuals of tofu soup, knife cut noodles and apps such as dumplings but what caught my interest was their ssambap and grilled fish/dwenjang sets they offered. Hidden gem in Corona! Super comforting to have good Korean food especially when I'm in the Eastvale area. We were seated immediately and noticed they have a wide variety of Korean food to choose from which is really nice since I think the area is lacking unless you go to Chino hills or Rancho area. The banchan is fresh and kimchi is so tasty - not too sour. They also give a house pancake which is a plus. We got the seafood beef tofu soup (5/5) with white rice and squid bibibap (5/5) which came on a large sizzling plate. We had leftovers since we had so much food. Craving Korean food so I turned to my trusty Yelp to search for a place not to far. I'm always willing to travel for good food. Found this place and off we went...about 20 miles away but it was worth it! It's located in a strip mall, small but not too small. It is full service restaurant. We ordered the seafood pancake which was really good and it's a nice size too. We enjoyed the bulgogi hotstone bibimbap and beef tofu soup. I enjoyed everything especially the banchan...that's my favorite. Their kimchi was really good, tasted like the way my mom made it. The servers were very kind and patient. Wanted to love this place but had a subpar experience :( The pork meat cutlet was very thin and when I had asked the server about their drinks, he seemed very unsure of what they had and asked another worker who also didn't know how to explain it and just left and brought some cans. We also couldn't understand what our server was saying and asked him what was in a dish but he spoke fast, quiet, and had a thick accent. Additionally, we were sat at the very back of the restaurant despite it being 2/3 empty and they see taping up boxes with extremely loud packing tape which was very distracting (multiple boxes throughout the meal). It's the same as the one in fullerton. I was able to try their fullerton branch a number of times already. This one is no different. The food is good and so is the service. I had their spicy cold noodles. As with any decent Korean resto, banchan are served. They even have some scallion pancake too. The noodles were pretty good. Cool and spicy at the same time. Aside from the noodles, they serve other dishes / combos. The feel of the place is just like a normal restaurant. There's good enough seating. Basically, it's a eat and go place. Decided to try a new Korean barbecue spot tonight. The place is very small, but they actually do have a lot of tables only one TV and very disappointing that it stays on the same reel that goes on and on just showing city views. Their menu is limited. The good thing is they do offer vegetarian options, which was a plus, although I'm not vegetarian it's always nice to see that they offer a lot more of those on their menu. Only suggestion for this place that I would have is that they have a lot less bus boy and food runner employees and get more servers. There was one server/waitress for the whole place which makes it difficult to have a great experience if you're having to constantly try to call for the one person who is helping all the other tables for anything that you may need. We were also a little disappointed that she didn't bother to ask us for a drink order just what we wanted to eat so we had to call her over which took a good 10 minutes to even order something to drink. We were also a little disappointed that a few of the people that got there after us were getting their food before us. We ordered the Joche noodles. The kalbi beef ribs, the beef bulgogi, the kimchi bimbimbap. The noodles came out first of all our dishes. It took a very long time to get any of our main entrées out so we kinda filled up a little on the rice and appetizers before the actual meal came out. I did appreciate that they brought the food out cooked to order so it was hot and fresh, but by the time our meat which were the entrées got to the table the side dishes that came out first we're already cold. Another thing that we were a little skeptical on was the prices. They are very costly although they do give you a lot of food you can pay less money and do all you can eat at a Korean barbecue spot. My husband and I started coming here for their weekday lunch specials. They're such a good deal - about $13-$14 each but you must pay in cash. The meal comes with the usual banchan and they also give a free green onion pancake. The pancake is delicious and was a pleasant surprise. The first time I had their tofu soup and the second time I got their yukgaejang (spicy beef soup). Both were good - maybe not the best I've had but I used to live near Ktown so it's a tough comparison. The food here is still authentic tasty Korean food, which is hard to find in this area. The service both times were good and the restaurant is usually pretty empty whenever we go, which is during the week for lunch. We are new to the area and found this restaurant on Yelp. Lots of parking and wasn't crowded when we went on a Tuesday at 6:30pm. Our server was very friendly and when I told her I wanted the Beef Ribs with Cabbage Soup, she suggested to get just the Beef Ribs because you get 5 ribs as opposed to only 2 ribs with the soup. She also brought over a complimentary pancake which was great with the sauce, I can imagine the seafood pancake on the menu would be really tasty. The bibimbap that my son ordered looked like a work of art, it was so good he finished it all! People were waiting outside to get into the Chinese dumpling restaurant in the same location. It's a pity. They really should skip that line and give this new Korean cafe a chance instead. We walked in, no wait, practically next door. Da Rae opened a mere 3 months ago, but they already have one other location in Orange County, so it's not exactly a new, still bumbling operation. You're missing out, my friends! The menu is a real adventure. Its almost overwhelming how many interesting, authentic Korean dishes they offer, but on our first visit, we already knew what we intended to get, the beef short rib soup, and it was very good. A large bowl of beef broth, clear noodles, boiled radish, and two very meaty, tender beef ribs. If I had one wish , the broth really could have used a light salting. The broth was slightly thinner and under seasoned than what I have had elsewhere. The very tender beef, however, dipped in their salty, vinegary, gingery (?) sauce made a whole lot of difference. I could have used more of that dipping sauce. Even better were all the other foods they brought to our table that we didn't order. For instance, the delightful scallion pancake, the refillable bowls of the wonderful ban chan (7 in total), the hot tea, and the little chaser of slightly sweet, ginger beverage at the end. Our experience was a success, with the scales ultimately tipped by the delightful lady who took care of us. She frequently checked to make sure we were OK, brought us more yummy ban chan, and bagged everything we wanted to bring home. The oyster tofu soup and huge, crispy pork cutlet appetizer is what brought us in the very next day, with an equally happy outcome. I am already desperately longing for more of the dipping sauce that comes with the cutlet...a tangy, exotic flavored ketchup sauce. It is irresistable It's a very good sign to see that 95% (ok, I made that number up) of their patrons are of Korean decent. The portions are big, the prices are not as steep as a competing Korean restaurant in another part of town, and the vibes are warm, happy, and welcoming. Ask for some soy sauce if you are like me, and hint about a sample of the ginger drink at the end, if they forget. This is a good place for a delightful, out of the ordinary meal. If you're looking for authentic Korean food in the IE, you should give them a try. My daughter came along with us and they had 2 options for the kids plate- Bulgogi or chicken Bulgogi. She picked the Bulgogi and she loved the utensils and the Mickey shaped rice. Such a cute little touch for kids. The meal also came with carrots, grapes, a juice box and a bag of cookies. We got #58 Darae Bossam + Deonjang Jjigae and the Bossam was the main reason why I even came here and it was totally worth it. The pork was cooked very well- not tough or chewy at all and a good fat to meat ratio. I would come back for this.
