So, I'm sorry to report that the owner is quite elderly, cantankerous, and a bit "off" mentally. Holiday House is not in great condition and one of our rooms was really terrible - dirty sheets, bugs, stained bathtub, etc. The main building has a second floor shared balcony that is tilting. After talking to her about those things, she kicked us out, which was fine. We booked rooms at the Plumpjack Inn in Olympic Valley (dog friendly ) on 20 minutes notice, which cost less and which turned out to be wonderful. My mother, elderly, generously reminded us that aging isn't always pretty, that she's probably in over her head at this point, and suggested we call the county Dept. on Aging, so they can check on her. They were lovely and will visit her. read more

I won a FREE paid vacation ($1600 value) here and it was so BAD I almost went and paid for another hotel with my own money. We came up form Lake Elsinore and arrived early at 2pm and showed up to ask if we can sit on the deck outside to wait for the room to be ready at 3pm. The owner claimed we were trying to intimidate her by showing up early and that's now she lost the check in documents. When trying to explain why we were early the hotel owner quote said "Bullshit, I don't' have time for Bullshit." The hotel owner is an older person that was not considerate, kind, or caring. Upon having issues with check in and while I was trying to provide her the documents SHE lost, she said quote "I'm happy to see you're having problems. It makes me feel better about mine." However as I continue to try to solve the problem she then went on a rant of her problems running the hotel all alone but she's German and survived WW2, had a 10 million dollar personal value, but how men are all chauvinistic pigs, and how running the hotel at her age is "all too much". I also found out she is the only person caring for the hotel which is why bugs, and cobwebs are everywhere, screens are missing from windows, and the hotel generally looks unmaintained or cared for. There is no AC in the room. The furniture is below Motel 6 value. My girlfriend went to ask for clean sheets because they smelled musty like they were on the bed or in storage for months, the owner responded "What am I God?" and fought with her. The website for the hotel is also out of date. There are no paddle board classes offered and the dock is not safe to launch from with a kayak. The water level is too low and you have to walk over rocks (I got cut). In short if you're looking for a disappointment go here, otherwise save your money and your vacation and choose a motel 6 instead. The owner does not care if you enjoy your stay or not, and from what she's said most likely enjoys it when you do not. read more

The worst ever! Only redeeming aspect is proximity to the lake. Outside the deck is a train wreck and the furniture is old, broken or is totally in disrepair. Inside there was a coffee machine but no coffee pot. No silverware at all, no wine opener. The bathroom sink was clogged and unusable with a fair amount of mold. Several windows had no screens. So, overall a terrible experience that was very pricey, value is just not there. Never will I be back. read more

Downstairs room: 1 star. Upstairs could be a 4 star. Super friendly, clean, great location, and beautiful views, but every footstep of your upstairs neighbor will wake you up! That leads to a grumpy bear the next day. It's about as updated as most cabins in Tahoe (80's ish). The water view is excellent. BEWARE! The owner will NOT honor her own voucher! I purchased a special offer of 2 nights for 1 and paid $264. Once the pandemic hit, I called to postpone my trip, which the owner at the time granted. Now that I've called back to book my prepaid 2 nights voucher, the owner says she will not honor her voucher. She told me I have a credit of $264 for ONE night ONLY and due to the pandemic, she will NOT honor my 2 night voucher! The owner acknowledged that my voucher is for 2 nights but claims that the pandemic has hurt her business and she can do longer afford the accept our original arrangement. This is NOT the way to treat a paying customer, especially one who paid in advance! This is the WORST customer service EVER! The owner had no problem collecting my money in advance and now reneging! The pandemic is either her fault nor mine, but she is the business owner. She should at least HONOR her own voucher and hope that I would become a frequent customer. If she had, I would have come to her place and then told all my friends and family. She refuses to give me back my original $264 and won't honor the second night free! So, the manager here is elderly. I'd love to give her the benefit of respect for one's elders. But, when she couldn't respect the common courtesy that other establishments have for children...um no! You don't get to disrespect a single dad's children and get away with it. First, this place was just short of a total dump since it has some "retro" charm. HOWEVER, when you're charging the same prices as other establishments in the vicinity and are expected to pay for children under 8, you'd better have something to show for it. This place has NO redeeming qualities for that reason. Walls and floors are THIN. Baseboard heaters will keep you AWAKE ALL NIGHT because their constant CRACKLING is LOUD. Nice view. But, frankly, not worth it. On a good note. They do allow dogs. But your dog better like German Shepherds, because that's literally the alpha dog on premise. read more

The owner is amazing. Got stuck in a storm and she was so friendly and helpful. Helped check weather for us since my phone wasn't working right and allowed us to hang out past check out to see if the roads would open. The rooms were older and could use an update but homey. I don't think I'll ever want to stay at another place in North Lake Tahoe. For the previous person who gave one star - maybe you all (including the owner...) just got up on the wrong side of the bed. Alvina "Bitsy" was an amazing hostess. She took exceptional care of us while we were there. She gave us a great deal on TWO rooms instead of just the one we booked. The view on the lakefront is truly breathtaking. Bitsy is pet friendly and provided us with some doggy baskets that included treats, pet towels and blankets. We were also given a 20% off discount at Captain John's for dinner, which worked out wonderfully since we were there to celebrate a birthday! I will most definitely be staying here again. The hottub not being available to guests is a bit disappointing but it's her personal tub and it's not handicap accessible so she has no choice but to keep it closed. The rooms were warm, cozy, and provided everything AND MORE that a hotel would have to offer. I really appreciate Bitsy and the care she showed us during our stay Six people and four dogs aren't easy to accomodate but she took excellent care of us. Thanks! Located in what seemed to me to be the sunniest spot on the lake with a rocky beach front the view is absolutely stunning. Five Stars this is not. The place needs work. The rooms are old, the beds past there prime, the dishes a little gross and you will find cobwebs in some corners. Vintage would be the word that comes to mind; from the decor, to the hostess this place captures a moment in time - And stays there. - Dogs friendly. - Wi-fi is free but didn't reach our room). - T.V. marginal. No HBO/Showtime etc. - Can hear road traffic in room. The owner Alvina Patterson is very nice but certainly not a pushover. She also happens to be the Mother of Chuck Patterson a surfing and paddle boarding legend and looks like she is an incredible athlete herself. Best suited to college kids and hippy (ish) folks with dogs. Since we are pretty laid back and have kids in college it worked great for us. I have to admit to feeling like it was a bit too much money for the, ahem, amenities, but Tahoe is over the top these days so perhaps it was a steal at $200.00 plus a night for the four of us. Despite it all I would go back. Bottom line this place is kind of like a Disney ride back in time. You can almost see the ghosts of hard core Tahoe athletes smoking doobies and drinking beers after a long day on the Lake. read more

NOT a "Pet Friendly" Hotel... Very disappointing stay. STRONG recommendation to stay elsewhere. This place (and the management) were HORRIBLE. I can't be as chipper as Walter below. My experience sounds much like the other 1-star ratings. Buyer Beware: 1. Charged at the start of your stay, rather than at the end. 2. Although advertised as a pet-friendly hotel that welcomes animals, you will be required to lock your pet in the bathroom while you're gone. 3. The owner is crazy. Sweet and nice one minute, argumentative and forcing you to pay more money the next. The website and owner will tell you that you need to pay $30 for pet expense. However, if left unattended, she wants $50 extra dollars for steam cleaning. (And she will threaten you for it, repeatedly.) However, this is not clearly communicated up front. She will request that you lock your pet in the bathroom. I did not feel comfortable with this, so I put my cat in the bedroom. While we were gone, she came in to give us fresh towels (and I suspect to also check-in on us). She not only called me while we were out to breakfast, but she came knocking at our door to confront me about the cat being in the bedroom as soon as we got back. She argued with me that if the cat was not going to be left in the bathroom, that I would charged an extra $50 for steam cleaning. Her rationale does not make any logical sense. Even though your pet will be wondering around the hotel the entire time of your stay, because you leave them alone at any time, this somehow warrants an extra $50? Wouldn't steam cleaning be needed regardless?! I get that there could be an "accident," but this could happen even under owner supervision. I own a cat that is liter-box trained and the most we left him was 1-2 hours. While we were gone, he slept in his scratching post without any harm to the unit. He doesn't shed and he doesn't leave an odor. I made it a point to tell her that her website does not clearly outline charges, as I booked through a 3rd party vendor. She complained to me that she had to pay a 25% fee. Not my problem, lady. Had I not booked through that vendor, I wouldn't have stayed there. She should be so happy that people are finding her hotel through this resource. If you don't want to pay the fee, don't advertise with them. I found her argumentative personality and persistent nature to get more money out of me ridiculous. She tried to pull the "sexiest" card, telling me that if she were a man, that she would not be disrespected the way I had by putting my cat in the bedroom, instead of the bathroom while we were gone. If I am paying a fee upfront, then I am automatically thinking this covers incidentials. If she wants to charge extra, then she needs to either up her rate from the start to cover incidentals, or clearing set expectations from the beginning. The only advantage to this place is the beautiful view, but other than that, this place is a dump. Old, run-down, dingy and not well kept. There's also a hot tub right on the water, but only for personal use by the owner (and not open to guests). Over-priced hotel for what you are offered. This woman made the whole situation extremely uncomfortable. This was the first time I have traveled with my pet, and it was ruined by this experience. Save yourself the hassle and stay elsewhere!! Pros: It's right on the water, and the vibe is laid back. The owner is a super-friendly nice lady, and it's a family-run business. I like that. Dog friendly, and she also offers paddle board lessons. They have a floating pier you can swim out to and enjoy. It's a small place (8 rooms total). You can smoke. Cons: It's a little old and slightly run down. The weather in Tahoe can be brutal, so I get it. The beach is a rock beach. There will be dogs (see above). The owner has owned this place for like 20 years, and it was originally constructed for the 1960 Winter Olympics. I gather that this place is frequented by people that know the owner and her family, which lends itself to a casual atmosphere. There's no stuffy-ness. read more

Alvina, the proprieties, is a charming, old world woman who is always cheerful and ready to help in anyway she can to identify nearby restaurants and places of interest. What this place lacks in frills and amenities it more than makes up for in character. The owner, Alvina, greets you upon arrival, she's lovely and hospitable. The room is dated and you will definitely feel like your roughing it. But, the view is amazing and there's nothing more comforting than waking up in the morning to the sight of the beautiful blue Lake Tahoe. Also, there's something to be said about living a few days with only the bare basics and simply enjoying your surrounding and being on the slopes. It makes you realize how much "junk" we have in our lives and forces you to question whether you actually need it at all. I would stay here again but this place isn't for everyone, only those that are not hung up on the little things. Rented a paddle board and got a quick lesson from the owner. I am forgetting her name now, but the owner is a lovely and sweet woman who encourages all paddle boarders. I paid a very reasonable rate and was able to get on my board and off to the lake very quickly. Only downside is that entry to the lake at this point is very rocky and you may need shoes at first. Note: I did NOT stay here and I'm not sure that I'd want to---especially after reading the reviews online. read more

We just returned form a 3 day stay at the Holiday House in Tahoe City. For us, it was just like visiting our friends back in Switzerland! The hostess Alvina is wonderful and loves all well behaved dogs. Her dog Heidi is beautiful and friendly to all guests, 2 and 4 legged. The best part for us was a leisure breakfast on the main deck overlooking Lake Tahoe. It felt like we were on the banks of Lake Geneva again. The facilities are a bit dated but homey. It is not fancy but comfortable with almost everything needed for a great stay. The kitchenette had the basics for a vacation stay. It is like staying at a B&B not a chain hotel and that was what made it relaxing for us. read more

I rarely write online reviews. I tend to write them if they are exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. This falls firmly into the 2nd category and i sincerely dislike writing this type of review but I feel I have to share my experience to save others from making the same mistake. We had booked a 2 night stay via booking.com - we wanted a nice hotel with a view and to its credit the hotel does have a great view of the lake. Unfortunately I didn't read ALL the online reviews from both booking.com/Yelp etc - had I done so I would have not booked this place. We arrived at 9pm on the first night. We were met by the 'Inn Keeper' Alvina - an irritated older German sounding lady who immediately complained that we were 'checking in late'. She insisted on taking full payment up front for $646.00 for a 2 night stay. I paid by Visa card and went up to look at the room. I had two tired kids with me and wanted to get them to bed asap. The room looked like it was in a time warp from the 1960's Everything was old and tired looking and the room was a bit smelly. It clearly had received no updates or had much (if any) money spent on it since it was constructed. We found the TV not working which is annoying when you have small kids. The Wi-Fi was running but barely operable - kept cutting out and was effectively totally unusable. We made up the kids murphy bed with the supplied blankets that were dirty, thin and very, very old with several holes in them. I was so shocked I took pictures of them. The supplied mugs were dirty with something that looked like it was growing at the bottom of one of them - took pic of that as well. All in all it was a really icky place. We slept in our clothes as we didn't trust the cleanliness of the sheets - the pillows smelt faintly of stale urine (I kid you not) - we all slept on the bath towels from the bathroom - which did appear to be OK. At about 11pm there was a total power cut at the hotel - no light and worst of all no heat - It was pitch black and the room quickly went below freezing ; the kids woke up cold and scared as they couldn't see a thing - now admittedly the power cut was not the hotels fault - I realize that - but having no backup generator and no offer of help from Alvina - was not cool. In Tahoe everyone needs a backup generator. Nobody slept well and by sunrise we had all had enough - at 7am we vacated the room - went downstairs to discuss all this with Alvina who refused to come to the door to discuss it - I said I was very unhappy and did not want to stay another night - and I wanted a refund - she said incorrectly that we should discuss a refund with booking.com when in fact the refund is with her as she took the money - not booking.com. So we left Holiday House and made a reservation at the Ritz Carlton - at $600/night - twice as expensive but 10 times better. When I got back home 3 days later I called Alvina - explained we had a very poor experience and that we expected much better - for at least the room to be clean. She was very curt and unfriendly - when I again went over all the problems including the dirty smelly room she said it "wasn't her problem" - and yes that's an exact quote folks - for some reason she then went on to say I was a bad father - I was polite at all times but totally incredulous that I was getting this type of response - When I said "What kind of customer service is this?" - she said "this is the customer service you deserve" ! She just was quite nasty. It was like being in the twilight zone. I called her from my business line which records all calls and a good thing too because I used it as evidence with my credit card company to obtain a refund. I'm just relating the provable facts (of which I have ample irrefutable evidence) - I would sum up by saying *** Buyer Beware *** ; make of this story what you will. But I do not recommend staying at this location ...... at all. read more

This used to be a gem of a place - the view stunning and past experiences were great and very pet friendly despite the feeling of being financially ripped off and shaken down each time I chose to over look it. This Time I found the owner has mentally decompensated to the point of a border line personality. The place is filthy, run down - the toilet broke first night and she spent the entire day running in and out attempting to fix herself - she is nearing 80 years old and the whole thing was absurd and aggravating to say the least. She never got it working but refused to move my family to another room. She flat out lied and said she was booked when the place was vacant. We had to utilize bathroom at a restaurant down the street yet my bill for 2 nights was $522.00. She accused one of my dogs of rolling in a petunia bed which appeared slightly wilted but certainly not ruined yet she threatened me multiple times that she was charging me for destroyed Flower??? Isn't that what the $10 dollar per pet per day is for? My holiday was ruined as a result of her demented behavior and toilet that wouldn't flush, the kitchen was pitifully lacking in utensils and dishes....beyond disappoint - we could not get out of there soon enough. We will never return. BEWARE and steer clear of this place!! read more

Wow. Where to start... How about here? I hate getting ripped off. I also hate cheats. Stay someplace other than this dive. It's great real estate but the owner doesn't re-invest a penny into the property and appears more interested in shaking people down the providing a good and vibrant lodging choice. We booked the place online and paid for the room in the main office before seeing the room. (Note to self, review room, then pay. Better note to self, only pay after you stay, like at 99.9% of hotels.) When we saw the room, my girl having booked it, I was immediately reluctant. But, I am a fairly easy going guy so I figured, f it. We're in Tahoe. Plus, she did all the work to find us a place on short notice. No need to pee in those cheerios. But after seeing dog hairs inside the 1970's rayon sheets that adorned our 20 year old mattress, and feeling like I was in something way worse than the seediest hostel I have ever stayed at, we both had enough. We wouldn't even consider getting naked in the place. But hey, we booked it, we sucked it up and stayed the night. First thing in the morning we walked over to say we'd not be staying another night. Welly, well, well, she informs us that we'll have to pay the amazing rip-off rate of 205 per night for future reserved nights too. WTF?? I can carry on reams about how insane that is. But no amount of thanking her for her hospitality and explaining how and why the place was not suitable for us would suffice. And who makes you pay for room nights before you stay??? Further, she placed and charged us for the "only room she had left," a double. Which turned out to be a lock-off double room; she could have just locked it off and charged for a single. I am sure someone can appreciate the value of a no-view room which literally had five different kinds of 1970s flooring (and I not even coming close to suggesting that had some charm) to compliment their dog-hair-covered 1970's rayon sheets for $205 a night, but it's not this cowboy. I'd rather sleep in my car, seriously. We were of course paying for the night we stayed, simply wished to move on down the road to a more suitable place for us. Nope. We are still arguing with her through the bank. Businesses thrive by providing value to their customers. Alvila, the owner, is the little spider in the web waiting for the unsuspecting visitor. The place is a dump and over priced. We ended up at the Ferrari Hotel for $140 a night with a massive lake view, clean beds and linens, and a great experience with their staff who apparently understand what makes a vibrant business. Stay somewhere else. read more

This place is amazing! I was a little worried after reading some reviews. My husband and I weren't quite sure what to expect. Our expectations were far exceeded. Alvina is the sweetest lady. She allowed us to choose our room and we went with #5 on the first floor. The view is out of this world. You are literally a flight of stairs from the water. The place was spotless, and I am a neat freak. The bed was comfortable with a cozy down comforter. The kitchenette was great. Stove, oven, fridge, toaster, microwave and coffee pot, and all of the kitchen utensils you need. We cooked dinner there both nights. There is a grill on the patio that you can use as well. Super dog friendly. Alvina brought our dog a basket of goodies. She also brought her dog, Heidi, out to play with our pup. They had a blast. Alvina gave us some great tips on where to go with the dog and different adventures we could do. We did not want to leave and come back to the real world, but work was calling. We will be going back to Tahoe as soon as we can and will be coming back here. This is the only place we will stay in Tahoe. read more

This place is great. I have stayed here three times in the last year and a half, and it is definitely my go to place in North Lake Tahoe. For skiing, the location is nice because it is close to all of the best resorts in the Tahoe area, and the same goes for the summer when I come up to go fly fishing. Lots of nice streams within a short drive. The rooms are spacious and provide all that is needed for a comfortable stay, including a nice kitchenette that allows me to prepare simple meals. A small refrigerator allows me to travel without a cooler and still have cold beer. Although most of the time I do not cook because of the many nice restaurants within only a few miles. I know other people have commented on the views, but I must say they are spectacular, allowing a view from the room that covers most of the lake. All of this for a reasonable price. read more

Stunning view of the lake. Stayed here 3 nights for our spring break vacation. Hostess Alvina and her German Sheppard Heidi were very welcoming. Our room was nice and warm upon check in. The room was clean and tidy. I usually try to avoid kitchens in my hotel rooms. I have a kitchen at home where I am expected to cook. Vacation for me means no cooking. But I have a teenage son that seems to eat constantly. So we went to Safeway and we fill the little refrigerator up. The TV screen was a bit small. But who needs TV when you have this incredible view. Like I said earlier the room is clean, but the place could use a remodel/update. I say come for the view. And enjoy a glass of champagne with Alvina. See is a neat 80 year. And pet friendly. I plan on coming back this summer with family and dogs. read more

If your not comfortable thinking and living outside the box stay at the Hyatt. This place is a true find and even though I only live in Minden, I felt like I was a 1000 miles away. My husband and I have stayed at Holiday House on and off for about 20 years. We would never think of going to Lake Tahoe and staying anywhere else. We have had several other couples join us at HH and they all feel as we do. Alvina and Heidi are charming and very welcoming. The view is to die for and we spend every evening sitting in the patio area, enjoying a glass of wine and the beautiful view of Lake Tahoe literally 20 yards away. This is much better than any large commercial hotel with loud guests throughout the night walking up and down outside of the rooms. HH is like staying with a friend. The location makes it an easy drive to restaurants and shopping. read more

The accommodations are charming, with a chalet feel that provides you with a truly uncrowded and relaxing experience. The hospitality of the owner, Alvina (Bitsy), is second the none. From the moment my wife and I arrived Bitsy made us feel extremely welcome and during our entire stay we felt as if we were staying with family. We are blessed to have the financial ability to stay anywhere we want but this is where we choose to stay. If your looking for a cookie cutter hotel so you can have the exact same experience over and over, then you need to look elsewhere. If instead you want to have a unique experience, then Holiday House is where you want to stay. We pray that Holiday House remains exactly as it is for many, many years to come, awaiting our return. It is quiet. It has the best view of the Lake I have ever seen. To be any closer to the Lake you would have to be on a boat. It is close to all the ski areas. You can walk to cafes and grocery stores. You can bring the doggies. You can cook. This is not THE RITZ. If you want that stay at a highrise casino in Stateline. But I was comfortable, warm, completely at peace and had a wonderful time. Alvina is a sweetheart and so is her German shepherd Heidi. I will stay there again. read more

Holiday House surpassed my expectations! My daughter and I were looking for a short get away together with our three dogs. Alvina was sweet, welcoming and more than accommodating. We felt as we were part of the family. My dogs loved the lower deck right above the lake, and spent a great deal of time jumping in for tennis balls. It was comfortable, and breathtakingly beautiful. My expectations were far surpassed, and although we extended our stay two days, still I was not ready to leave. It is extremely friendly, and comfortable. I was touched and surprised to see Alvina arrive at our door with a "spa package" for our pets which included towels, blankets, and puppy treats, such a nice welcoming touch. Traveling with our pets is important, but not always easy. Alvina made it an attainable goal. The atmosphere was more than friendly, and this lady is amazing. We had a terrific time. My daughter took a paddle board ride just before check out and loved it. I cannot wait to come back, but fear that I won't make it back, and may just move in permanently, it was beyond what I expected, much more than a motel at Tahoe stay, and you cannot beat the gorgeous views, what a lovely way to wake up! I hated to shut the drapes, but nobody would want to see me in the morning, so I tried to be polite, but it wasn't easy. Also, there is a sandy beach right down the hill, about 2 minutes away - you could even raft, kayak, or better yet, paddle board right from the lower deck - Alvina is a great instructor for newbies, and you can rent them right there! I made a reservation on May 3rd for 2 nights at this hotel with our dog. I quickly learned that we didn't need the first night and cancelled one night way in advance. Our reservation was for July 14th. On July 2nd, we had to put our sweet dog down. He had been part of our family for over 12 yrs. I called the hotel (Alvina Patterson) on July 5th to let her know that we no longer needed the hotel room as our plans had changed and we didn't need a dog friendly hotel, which I paid extra for. Alvina told me she would not refund me the money for the room as it was less than 14 days in advance. She had 9 days, during the summer to rent out the room. The hotel had no rooms available and she could have easily rented the room. she wouldn't even agree to a partial refund. We just lost our dog and were heart broken. She asked if we were going to come up as if we weren't, she could find someone else to rent our room even though she wouldn't credit me the money for the room. I told her NOT to cancel our reservation if she wasn't going to refund my money. We didn't stay there but we paid for the room. She was cold and could have been a bit more accommodating. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would I ever stay there. I asked to speak with the owner and she wouldn't give me their information. Shame on you Alvina! read more

Great view and that's it!!! The rooms are old and cold. The owner is nuts! One minute she is super friendly friendly and the next, she is cold, miserable and wanting to charge you extra for everything but the soap. There are many affordable dog friendly places close by that are a million times better. I will never stay there again. read more

Magnificent view from our second-floor room, with well-kept vintage furnishings and a useful kitchenette. Very helpful and responsive proprietress. The shower did take a bit of fiddling to get to the temperature I like, and wouldn't get any colder without getting too cold. read more

What an amazing view! I traveled with my three children and German Shepherd dog and stayed two nights. It was perfect for us. Alvina was a lovely host and in took me back to my Austrian days. The room was clean, towels changed each day. Boys slept on the murphy bed. Nice kitchenette. The place isn't fancy, but it does the job. So, if you're looking for the Ritz, this isn't it. If you're looking for an affordable place to bring your furry friend, clean and comfortable, and literally on the lake, this is it! read more

We checked in Sunday night expecting 4 days of rest & relaxation; we checked out Tuesday morning feeling stressed, unhappy & disrespected. The bathroom door was warped & had to be shoved closed. The hair dryer fried immediately after turning it on. The bed leaned to one side. Lastly, for $195 a night, you might expect the room to have a TV manufactured in the last decade--I would guess the TV in our room dates from the 90s. Strangely, the room next door to us had a flat screen TV. No big deal, but that room was VACANT. We asked the owner if we could swap TVs with said room, or just swap rooms. We were told we would have a new TV in our room in 3 hours. 3 hours later, no new TV. 3 hours after that, my wife offered to do the switch herself & was refused. She was told we had broken the TV in our room. In fact, the TV in our room worked fine. The "game" button on the remote had been activated; press it again & you get TV. The owner told my wife that she would have her "guy" swap the TVs sometime the next day. When my wife told the owner that I was not going to be happy about that, the owner responded, "I don't care." Obviously a minor thing that could have been handled much better---and for $195 a night, SHOULD have been. We left the next day at 10 AM. The owner was nowhere to be found. I expect my credit card company to have a whale of a time getting the rest of the "stay" refunded. read more
