This Holiday Inn Express has all of the outward appearances of a beautiful, modern hotel. We'd likely stay again if it was one of the only choices, but we were really frustrated by the cold showers - and the worry of people overhearing our conversations. PROS: -The building itself looks a bit on the older side (and the elevator certainly is), but it's clear the hotel has had a recent renovation. Paint is still relatively fresh. The rooms have nicer, modern furniture. The hotel looks pretty. Not amazing, but it definitely looks like a semi-modern place to stay. The bathroom is decently spacious with a beautiful glass shower and well-lit square mirror on the wall too. Again, a nice renovation. -Didn't use the pool, but they do have a pool. No hot tub, though. -Rooms have microwaves, Keurigs, and mini fridges. -Thorough breakfast with staff keeping the tables clean. Surprisingly good amount of options too. They have hot options and cold options. They even have Cinnabun deliciousness! Lots of tables to sit at after you get your breakfast, too. -Parking lot is nice and expansive. It's decently easy to park somewhere near the front door. Parking lot is decently well-lit without too many concerning dark corners. -Hotel is located directly off a main road through the city. It's decently close to the nearest large highway too. It's a pretty easy on and off the main road if you're looking to get somewhere. -Personal preference, but it's across the street from a Starbucks. And some other food establishments like Gold Star Chili. Easily walkable. CONS: -Walls are oddly thin in spots. While showering, I could easily hear every word of the neighbor's television program at 8 in the morning. Like, I legitimately was just listening to the news as they watched it. From the hallways, you can easily hear words and discussions happening in hotel rooms. We didn't have any issues with sleeping at night, but if you had shitty hotel neighbors, that might be a problem. -The ridiculously aggravating shower temperature. In two days, our shower never once actually got "hot". It was a tolerable lukewarm temperature that lasted about 5 minutes before starting to slowly get colder and colder. It was such a lukewarm temperature that it was one of those "this isn't fun" kinda things. I hate chilly showers. -Bed isn't the most comfortable. Personal preference, but we weren't into it. The pillows are very, very soft as well. Might be worth bringing your own pillow if that isn't your jam.

    Very nice!

The room smelled stale of cigarette smoke. Compared to other HIE's, this one was old and tired.

Biscuits were fresh and delicious with apple butter, bacon had a variety of doneness for everyone, from limp to crispy, the cinnamon rolls were great, I also had a veggie omelet.

Lots of decent restaurant options nearby. Check-in was fast and friendly. Wifi worked. They had biscuits and gravy as well as a waffle maker for breakfast. The bed was comfortable. The room appeared clean. Water pressure and temperature was good. The price was reasonable. These are the things most important to me, so our stay was fine. The cons: Keep your window shade drawn. In the rear is a forested area. So much trash on the ground and hanging in the trees. Yikes! The safe was locked and could not be opened. Not an issue since we didn't need to use it. The toilet seat was clean but in really rough shape. The chair needed reupholstered. The only egregious issue was that they had attached these heavy duty side tables on either side of the bed. I think the weight of them must have caused them to tilt so that if you put anything on them (a book, keys, glasses, a cup of water) it would slide right off. They looked nice but were completely unusable.

What a great hotel! Everything associated with this stay was simple and wonderful…read more It was easy to make the reservation online. You can choose to prepay and get a slightly lower rate or make the reservation and pay on arrival. If you have a free Drury Rewards account, you also get a slightly lower rate. The hotel is easy to find and basically right off of the highway. There is ample parking and the lot was well maintained. Check in was quick and easy. Even though we prepaid, they still ran a card for the $50 deposit. The hold on mine was released about 12 hours after checkout. The front desk associate was incredibly friendly and helpful. we were even upgraded to a suite! One of the things I love about Drury are the meals. The evening reception the night we were there had pulled pork, coleslaw, hot dogs, baked beans and salad. You could also get unlimited pop and three alcoholic drinks. Staff was very attentive in keeping food full and the area clean. Our room was large and spotless. When we entered, there was a chair, pul out couch, tables and a tv. the center hallway had a counter with drawers, a sink and the microwave and fridge. The bathroom had a spacious shower with pumps of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I was impressed with how comfortable the beds were! We had forgotten toothpaste and the front desk was able to give us a small tube free of charge. The pool area was clean and well maintained, but fairly small. Overall, a wonderful stay and definitely a hotel I would stay at again.

We were attending a convention in Sharonville and were happy to see a Drury nearby. They are…read moretypically our go to since they have complementary breakfast and happy hour and popcorn. This location is a little bit different than others that I've stayed at. We booked a room with 2 Queen beds. Please read this entire review in order to be completely fair to this location. First the not so good: Our room was not 100% clean upon check in. We arrived late and so by the time we got unsettled I'm ready to call into bed, we realized one of the comforters had a blood stain on it. We were told that housekeeping leaves in the afternoon and so they couldn't provide us with a clean comforter. Next, this is the first Drury Inn we have stayed at that stopped popcorn by 8 PM. Every other one has had it going till at least 10 PM. Families like to have movie night and/or grab a bag after playing in the pool or relaxing in the hot tub, this location promptly stops at 8. If they have any extra popcorn, they do bag it and place it on the counter but they go quickly. Typically, I bring microwave popcorn to hotels but I can always count on Drury until this stay. Next, cabinets in the dining area are pretty filthy. I think this is just more of an attention to detail that I notice. Last bad experience: the exit doors kept getting propped open by contractors reserving meeting spaces. In our short three night stay, I can count on both hands how many times I removed stones from the doors. Lastly, the coffee station is in an incredibly awkward spot. I would venture to say most people reserving rooms are adults and they like their coffee. The station is awkwardly set in the middle corner of the breakfast area which creates a traffic jam in the morning mornings. Give yourself extra time. Now onto the good...no GREAT: Armani was at the front desk when we reported the dirty comforter. She handled it with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. I could tell she really felt bad for the experience and wanted to make it right. Next the food area is kept well cleaned and they have a great variety of food. I love that they offer real half-and-half for creamer. Next, when we reported the stones in the doors, management did a perimeter check and ensure that the contractors renting the meeting space were instructed not to do it again. When they ended up doing it again, they actually discontinued the contract and blacklisted them so that they're not able to come back again and rent the space. I love that security is important to management, too! Back to the popcorn. There were some rowdy kids in the pool one evening when a few of us were soaking in the hot tub. A staff member came in and without saying much could understand that a couple of the people were very uncomfortable with the level of noise of the kids. The parents sat outside while the kids were rambunctious inside. She actually went over and kindly told them that they had to be with their children because they were all under age. She brought peace to the experience which was a really nice way to end the day. Next, I really liked one of the speakers at the convention And so I ordered a book to be delivered to the hotel. I put my room number on the Amazon order assuming that it would be left there or that they would notify me when it was delivered. It was probably my fault for not going and checking but we were so busy with the convention I'm nearly forgot and left the book behind. I called the hotel and not only did they find the package but, and I don't think that would happen for everybody but I'm sure thankful it happened for me, a manager was willing to return the package to a UPS store for me. He texted me and I was able to give him the return shipping label. Talk about outstanding service! This specific individual was Andrew and he deserves all the props for making this such a solid experience for me. He didn't have to do that and quite frankly I didn't expect him to. This was definitely above and beyond my expectations! Back to the popcorn, an employee Was kind enough to hold bags for us on the last night so that when we came back late from our convention, we were able to enjoy some popcorn. I really appreciated this gesture because you know it was important to us as guests. Also, we were Pleased with how they dealt with the soiled comforter. They offered to change rooms but when it was so late, and I was rather upset, they gave us a discount on other two nights. That was greatly appreciated and handled the right way. I can't imagine the employee who left the bloody comforter will ever do that again. Next really nice thing, the Jim: we had some equipment malfunctions early on this day but they were fixed quickly by a technician and we were able to use the gym daily. I really appreciate how fast they tried to make that right. Even though a lot of things went wrong, this Drury location exemplified how to make things right when things go wrong. I would not hesitate to stay there again!

When my wife entered the room for the first time later in the day, she had the exact same reaction without any prompting: initially positive, then negative. The bathroom floors had old stains; the side of the TV stand had dark, dried-on droplets; the caulking around the shower had mold; dust on the air vent; the border around the closet door was separating; and what looked like dried blood was stained on the carpet next to the couch. The sliding bathroom doors are designed in such a way that they don't fully close, leaving a 2 inch opening at all times. And although the frosted glass doors leading to the bathroom look nice, it means that if you or your partner uses the bathroom while someone is sleeping, the bathroom light will illuminate the bedroom area. The rooms need better care and attention. And while it may be easy to blame the cleaning staff for some of these issues, from what I could see of them working they were working diligently. More staff may be needed in conjunction with more investment into updating the rooms themselves. It was the first hotel I'd stayed at where I didn't feel comfortable walking barefoot.
