What a lovely stay. We needed a quick stay nearby, and we got to book same day. We got seen promptly, check-in went smoothly, and got to our room without issues. Our floor and room was quiet; we slept on nicely without concern. We got to use the pool; it was clean and warm. Breakfast was a treat: they had everything (eggs, pork and turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy, make your own pancakes, cereal, breads, fruits, yogurts, and drinks). Easy check-out process as well. This hotel was 5 star compared to the Hyatt Place in Fairlawn/Paramus, NJ. I had stayed there and did not shower or watch TV. It was so dirty and disgusting. After checking out. I checked into the Holiday Inn and was greeted by a very nice woman at the front desk. The location is great. The hotel was safe and clean from the moment, I walked in Nowadays, all hotel smell like smoke and this hotel did not at all. The hotel room for exceeded my expectations with name brand, dove, Shampoo, conditioner, and body stuff. I have known of this hotel for over 20 years and never stayed here once I can't believe it. I think this is the best hotel between Bergen and Morris County and will stay here again anytime I'm up in New Jersey in the future. read more

I have no real complaints about the stay itself, the breakfast was so-so. The issues with this hotel came after checkout. Purchased this through priceline and then the hotel charged us again after taking our credit card. Called them 3 times to get this resolved over the course of 8 days. Twice transferred to a manager only to get his voicemail. Left detailed messages, no response. Spoke once to a person who said a new trainee had done this on a number of bookings and they were doing refunds and she would call me back when it was completed. No call back. Will dispute the charge on my credit card instead. Poor customer service, feels scammy. Anyone staying here should definitely check their credit card statements for double billing. read more

I stayed at this hotel for one night between the viewing and funeral for my mother-in-law who lived nearby. I was in a King Extra Space room. The room looked nice and had clearly been recently renovated. Everything worked correctly. In general the room was comfortable. The bed mattress was very hard - so hard that I didn't get a good night's sleep. In the morning my wife and I had the free breakfast at the buffet. The biscuits and gravy were quite good. The scrambled eggs (and my wife says also the omelet) were horrible - they tasted like cardboard and seemed to have been in the dish a long time at 7am (the buffet opened at 6:30). This hotel is fairly good, but needs some of the rough edges attended to. read more

The pool was closed but no mentioned of this when booking hotel. (The pool was open a week ago) was excited for breakfast at least so woke up early to literally only yogurt, 1 muffin (not fresh in bag) option, and these cinnamon "pull-a-parts" .... complained to front desk but just got shrugs. Ohhhhh and when checking in we waited 10+ minutes because front desk was on phone. Not friendly. Charge $129 for this. Value of this stay was no more than $80 just because we have 2 beds and a bathroom. read more

What a sketchy operation. During the power outage a few weeks ago I booked this hotel on their web site. I had to book 4 rooms, as I oversee group homes for adults with disabilities. When we got to the hotel at 10 pm, the place was locked up and all lights were off. Apparently they lost power as well and did not answer their phone. We booked a room for two nights because we had to leave our home for renovations so we chose this hotel specifically because it says right on their website PETS ALLOWED. And on my reservation it even asked what "type of pets" I had. Yet when I went to check in I was told that cats are not allowed. They only allow dogs. And that they "recently changed their policy". She was very rude when I asked her why it says right on their site that PETS (plural) are allowed. She just said there was nothing she could do. Which left us scrambling to find another place last minute. I will never choose this hotel again!! Awful experience!! read more

The place was pretty clean but the room wasn't exactly ready by the 3pm time. Also I wasn't greeted right away but the front desk clerk apologized cuz it was a "crazy" day and she had to vent to her coworkers before taking care of me. The room was large and the AC was working. There is HBO and there are many HBO channels. The bed was comfy. There is a view of a lake if you face the back. There is a Stop and Shop right across from the hotel and a BK. read more

First one to breakfast, coffee container empty, attendant shooting the breeze with someone while watching tv, didn't know she was the attendant until I went to the front desk and no one showed, then she asked me what I needed (wasn't paying any attention that I walked away from an empty coffee pot. Got up with an attitude then made coffee. Orange swill was undrinkable it was so dilute like a flavored water (tried to dispense twice still swill, no hot oatmeal, too many carb choices. No one was there to check me out so I just walked out. This is why I stay at Hampton Inns. This just never occurs there. What good is a nice new place if the service stinks? read more

This place is clean and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, I am perfume sensitive and was told by a staff member that there is a scented bag behind every door vent. The perfume smell here is so strong and I am miserable and unable to sleep due to being so congested. Maybe the owners need to do some research on the increasing numbers of perfume sensitive people in America. Also, there was a dog in a room under us barking in the middle of the night. read more

Recently renovated. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Well executed, typical, included breakfast (real Thomas's English Muffins - not the generics). Best bed-linens I've seen in a long time. The downside is a noisy (albeit powerful) climate control unit in the room with noticeably temperature swings. Also, the pool is right off the lobby, so you can smell it through much of the hotel - it doesn't smell bad, but it was a bit unexpected. read more

The only reason I put 4 rather than 5 stars is because we were unable to get adjoining or closer rooms for my family while we were at this location for a wedding. My sister was getting married the morning after check-in and we utilized this hotel as our place of choice for preparations that morning. While we did have to run from room to room, it wasn't all that far and the floor staff, were amazing in asking if we needed anything. Overall, the staff was wonderful, attentive and allowed us to stay until 1:30pm for a generously late check-out! We were so happy to be able to find a place that was willing and able to assist with just that. The complementary cookies, water and breakfast were definitely an added delight. We loved it and would totally go back if we needed to. read more

I'm not sure what most people think of a Holiday Inn much less a Holiday Inn Express. I travel very often for business and beefed up here. The staff is very professional and incredibly pleasant. This is the first time I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express and it was clean and quiet. I'm not sure what else you would expect from this level of lodging. It certainly met my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this location again; moreover is be more apt to try a Holiday Inn Express elsewhere because of my stay here. read more

I reviewed the Holiday Inn Express Haskell yesterday and adding with a one star upgrade. The filthy hot water machine appeared to have been cleaned. I don't know if someone read yesterday's post, but it was in fact cleaned. Okay, so the beds are comfortable and the room is clean. With that said, at 11:30 am there was a bang on my door. I travel on business worldwide and most hotels have a 12 noon check out which can be extended by an hour. Apparently, this property wants guests gone by 11am. Okay... I suppose that is their right. However, when I responded to the bang on my door that I would be out in 15 minutes the answer was a rude: "Check out is 11". Maybe it just that i am not accustomed to being treated this way, but somehow i think they can do better. read more

Sometimes when we left the room, the room was not dusted or cleaned to our satisfaction. Could hardly use the pool due to swimming lessons with the small children and this went on at least 3 times a week at least 4 or 5 hours a day. When we first arrived the pool was under construction and we couldn't use the pool. This was the main reason we booked the Holiday Inn in Haskell, New Jersey. . When you are staying in a hotel for so many days 10 to 12 or longer,the food should be changed so that we are not eating the same food for the 10 to 12 days. My husband and I were on the road on the night of the December 26 blizzard trying to get from NJ back home to CT. The waitress at a diner nearby recommended we try to get a room at this Holiday Inn Express. We made it there and found that there were no room available. The staff was so WONDERFUL. They implored us not to drive on, but to take refuge, so to speak in their lobby and avail ourselves of the coffee and snacks. This was around 9pm. As the night and early morning wore on, they gave refuge to about 10 other people. Brought us pillows and blankets. In the morning, we could eat from the buffet and staff helped shovel out our cars. So, while we never got to see their rooms, I can only give 5 stars plus to this wonderful staff and their policy) that truly understands the meaning of the word hospitality especially during the Christmas season. worst stay in a hotel ever. Lost power for a day and a half. No backup - generator. No internet, power or a/c. On top of that, found a used crack pipe on top of mirror in bathroom. took photo to show them and they just said they will upgrade to a better room. Jajed is the manager and was very demeaning to deal with. for all these issues, he wanted to refund me $20. Would not stay here again if they gave me free room. We had a wonderful stay here and the manager welcomed us and let us know that if we needed anything, to just ask. We saw him helping a lady to load her luggage into her car. Our room was very clean and comfortable, as were the beds. The pool was immaculate and open long hours so that we could relax in it after dinner. Free breakfast was amazing and had a HUGE variety of items that included, but wasn't limited to scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, cereal, muffins, cinnamon rolls, yogurt and fruit and hot coffee and cold juices. WE WILL PLAN ON GOING BACK TO STAY HERE AND ENJOYED OUR STAY VERY MUCH! read more
