This is one of the best Holiday Inn that I ever stay at. They have a hot tub and a managers special Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays where they provide a free light dinner for everyone between 5 to 7 PM. The only downside of that free light dinner at 5 to 7 PM is the host. is not that gracious and a bit unfriendly and serious. However, it's a great touch and gesture, so I overlook the unfriendliness... aside from giving it 4 out of 5 stars. The rest of the staff is always very friendly and nice. I make my way out to the area once a year on business, typically the hotels in town during the summer and fall are very expensive. Just down the road from the center of Spokane in Spokane Valley where I do business. I have stayed here before and my first stay was very good. On my first stay in 2017, I stayed in one of the rooms with a balcony. On this stay due to the volume of business at the hotel, I got a ground floor room. This actually wasn't too bad as I was able to park my car practically right outside my room. AS you enter the hotel there is a very large and welcoming great room with plenty of places to sit and work. I greeted by a very nice lady from Ukraine, who treated me like royalty and tried to find me a balcony room, but they were all sold out. In light of this, I received a very nice room. I was lucky enough to arrive just as they were finishing the manager's reception and was able to get my hands on some of the food and a couple of glasses of beer before they put everything away. My room was clean and large enough to be comfortable for a one night stay. There was a nice gym with ample cardio machines and free weights. The breakfast had a good array of hot and cold items with good choices for those who eat healthily. The location is great too as it is only 20 minutes from the airport, and ten minutes to the central areas of Spokane. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. If you are travelling for business, there are plenty of places to plug in and the wifi, even though the hotel was full had a great signal and I had no issues connecting my laptop and a VPN, my personal iPad and my iPhone. I was in Spokane for a dog show and this hotel was on the list of dog friendly places in the area. What a great find! The staff (Danza and the new person whose name I don't remember) were very welcoming and helpful. They had goodie bags for the dogs! What a treat! And cookies from 7-9 with milk to go with. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise - good omelets, cinnamon rolls, and the people working at the breakfast were very friendly. Did not love this Holiday Inn (here for a tournament over MLK 2023). Hotel was significantly under construction for a refurb; we stayed in an updated room on the 4th floor. It had some problems with the thermostat. And for some reason they've popped in lights everywhere that are 5000 or 6000 kelvin, so the lighting is hospital-caliber blue-white lights. It was OK but not particularly comfortable or enjoyable. Food was adequate. Perhaps it will be better after construction is complete, though I really hope they change the temperature of the lights. read more

I stayed here a couple of times in recent months and they were both decent experiences. On my first visit I arrived a few hours early for check in and wasn't sure if I would be allowed to check in but the staff said it was fine. I got a room on the ground floor which had a door leading to the parking lot. That was somewhat convenient. The sink is outside of the bathroom which I thought was a bit weird. The water pressure for the shower was really high and there was no way to adjust it. The refrigerator was larger than I expected but it made noise periodically. The a/c was also noisy and like most hotels, the control is on a panel on a wall and not the a/c unit itself. I turned it off for my stay. There was no closet, just an open space with a shelf by the main door. The bed frame had these rectangular hooks on the sides to hold the mattress in place but my mattress was misaligned with the frame which made the hooks on one side protrude and I ended up scraping my ankle in the morning. I didn't try the breakfast. I booked my stay about a week in advance through a travel website and the cost was about $200 (including taxes and fees) for a weekend night. On my next visit I was staying for several days. I had a room on the second floor which was right at the top of the stairs. I didn't go upstairs on my previous visit and I found out that they have an old arcade table that guests can play, plus a computer station in the corner. The room was mostly the same, except this one had two beds. There was a plastic tab on the floor by one of the beds. I didn't know exactly what it was but it looked like the kind of tab you'd see on bagel bags to keep them closed. I guess the cleaning staff didn't check the floors. The water pressure in the shower was significantly lower compared to the ground floor room, I assume it was because the water had to travel up to reach my room. There was no hook for towels or clothes on the door in the bathroom. There were a couple of ragged holes in the door like someone ripped the hook out. The a/c unit didn't work at all. It kept displaying an "Err" message on the control panel. It wasn't a big deal with the exception of one night when it got really warm in my room for some reason. I didn't want to bother the staff so I just opened the window and that took care of the heat. The breakfast options that were available throughout my stay consisted of egg omelets (plain some days, veggie on others), scrambled eggs, sausage links and turkey sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, juice, bagels, yogurt, pastries, cereal, toast, oatmeal, fruit, pre-packaged muffins, a pancake maker, hard boiled eggs, and milk. Quite the selection. Every night from 7pm-9pm they have a try of cookies in the lobby that guests can eat. On Monday-Wednesday nights they have this thing called a "Manager's Reception" where they have additional snacks in this little room off to the side of the lobby, from 5pm-7pm. The day I checked in they were offering buffalo wings. They were pretty good. I booked my stay through the same travel website I used last time and on average, the nightly cost was about $175 (including taxes and fees). I booked a little farther in advance. I'd stay at this hotel again if I'm in the area. read more

We are staying at this hotel during the COVID-19 quarantine so they have limited breakfast items, it appears they usually have hot, buffet style food available however due to the virus it's all individually wrapped pre-cooked items like jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, eggs pancakes, yogurt, cereals, etc; we are low carb so the pre-packaged items are a bit difficult to keep low carb however we made it work and this is to no fault of the hotel of course. They give awesome little toiletries like mouth wash and have full sized shampoo and body wash in the shower. There is a decent amount of road noise but not unbearable. read more

This is a nice property, but not without a few issues. Our room was spacious enough, although the bathroom was fairly small. It had a strange odor, though, that we thought was smoke. They weren't able to move us, but they did give me some extra IHG points to make up for the hassle. I did notice the sound of footsteps from the room above, which was mostly annoying early in the morning. Light sleepers will want to try to get on higher floors. Other than these few minor issues, we found the hotel adequate for our two-night stay during our recent move out of town. The hot breakfast had a good selection, and the staff was friendly. Do not stay here. no one picks up their dog poop where you get out of your car by the grass Infront their main entrance. if you get it on your boots/shoes not knowing. the hotel will charge your card 150$. when told if they have the poop so we test it at the local veterinarian, they made excuses as to why they cannot. then they talk down to us as if they are doing you a favor not charging more. Hotel said we would have a disabled room. only reason we booked with them since I am disabled, we did not. making me go the 3rd floor furthest from the elevator. for the price of this hotel a motel 6 would have done better. you cannot have the door open while using the bathroom or if you are in the shower and someone needs to use it. the toilet was so close to the wall any bigger person would have to sit sideways. the clear water damage on the ceiling in the bathroom as well as in the hallways having their titles replace weekly says it all. the pool and hot tub were not usable for 80% of the 3 weeks we stayed there. they will wait till 71 hours after you have checked out to notify you that you are being charge not giving you any time to dispute what they said. Do not stay here it's not worth the headache and dishonesty of the hotel. read more

The two stars were for the comfortable bed. Otherwise, this hotel is not worthy of the Holiday Inn Express reputation. I got out of my way to stay at HI Express whenever possible, and I was severely disappointed in my stay. My room was located between the elevator and the housekeeping maintenance closet. Commotion at all hours. Banging noises, loud people, a dog barking across the hall. None of that is ok. The property is run-down. The check-in process is slow. The lobby is not efficiently set up for social distancing. The continental breakfast, while understandably abbreviated during the COVID precautions was still lacking. The juice dispensers were out of order, but thankfully the coffee was hot and fresh. I was greeted by cold sandwiches, weirdly wrapped, to be heated in the microwave, cold cereal, and yogurt. I asked for a tray to carry my food to my room (since you can't eat there and a sign said trays were available on request) and was treated like a major inconvenience. "You got the last one," was the statement made when it was handed to me. Unless there's just no other place to stay, avoid this hotel. read more

The hotel was being remodeled when we stayed 3/9/23. We were quoted the room price at the front desk and assumed that would be the total for the stay. When we got home and checked our credit card statement, we were surprised to see an additional charge for taxes, $25 for the dog which we had asked about when we were getting the room, so assumed that total we were quoted was all inclusive just like when you book a room online. My husband called to try to straighten out why there was such a difference. The man who answered the phone was immediately raising his voice to us, talking over my husband, trying to blame the problem on an untrained clerk (who had no trainer present) and was extremely rude. Finally, he told us very loudly that we would be put on a list of people not allowed to rent rooms. No worries, we would much rather drive 30 more miles to the La Quinta in Coeur d-Alene that doesn't charge for dogs and is nicer for less money. The remodeled rooms feel pretty bare and have industrial carpet tiles in the bedroom. It feels like a slightly upgraded Motel 6, so the room prices are not in keeping with what you get. read more

Our stay here has been extremely enjoyable. Starting with our check-in, the front desk staff (Cory, Joann, Sydney, Morgan) where hospitable and helpful above and beyond their call of duty. They were an efficient concierge team. It happened to be our anniversary during our stay. Cory and Joann were a huge help making it special. The hotel manager (August) was visible and available our entire stay. He was engaging and hospitable. He took time out of his dThe complimentary breakfast was extensive, fresh and delicious as is the case at most HIE hotels. Our breakfast staff (Melissa) was a delight. She kept the area clean and perfectly stocked. She was always visible for any questions and eager to assist. The indoor pool and hot tub are clean, well maintained and equipped with lifts for the disabled. A small outdoor patio area is semi private for fresh air and sunbathing. The building's decor is a bit dated. The furnishings and carpet in the common areas could stand some updates. The General Manager (August) informed me these updates are expected to happen fall/winter 2017. The rooms are pleasantly furnished, spacious, clean and comfortable. The mattresses, bedding and pillows are luxurious. All new from spring/summer 2017. The window coverings have total light blocking drapes for a mid day nap in total darkness. The view on our side of the hotel was an office building but we did not choose the hotel for its views. A few restaurants, Rite-Aide, stores and gas stations are steps away. A sports bar is literally in the front parking lot. My favorite aspect of this hotel is they allow DOGS!!! I met several cordial, well behaved canines during our visit. As a family with dogs, we appreciate this accommodation not only for future visits with our own dogs but to be able to love on some else's dog as I'm missing my own. I noticed USB charging stations for media devices are available in the lobby/breakfast area but not in the rooms themselves. Whether on a business trip, traveling with family and pets on vacation or simply an overnight sleep I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express Spokane. Outdated rooms with a bar in the parking lot that is so noisy, it's impossible to sleep if your room overlooks it. It's not their fault that there's a bar in their parking lot, I'm just mentioning it so you can be prepared. The housekeeping was the worst I have ever seen in any hotel. We returned to our room to find the bed made and the towels changed out, but that was it. We had been hiking the day before and our dirty footprints were still in the tub so obviously they didn't clean it out. They picked up nothing, NOTHING. I'm surprised they even bothered to make the bed. The quilt that they put at the foot of the bed was still crumpled up where we kicked it off in the middle of the night. There was garbage still in one of the trash bins. I was appalled. This was the worst. Ever. The dog is adorable and the coffee is hot, but otherwise, stay at the Hampton. read more

If you're a dog lover, this is your home away from home. While some hotels will accept pets, at times you just don't feel like they want them there. Not here - they even have their own dog a the front desk, a sweet bear of a golden retriever named Kip. Upon arrival I was greeted most pleasantly by Allan, and my dog Frankie and I felt instantly welcome. I told Allan how much I appreciated the enthusiastic greeting and he said they love dogs there, and that staff will actually watch your dog behind the desk if you want to avail yourself of the breakfast bar or late afternoon managers' reception. That's great service! The rooms aren't fancy - this is a Holiday Inn - but the bed was great, the sheets were nice with a good thread count, and the toiletries were plentiful. That's all I need for business travel. Happily, this location doesn't charge the usual $25/day pet fee. Between the reduced expense and the great staff at this location, Frankie and I will definitely return to this comfy little gem. read more

Okay. Our experience this time was a stark contrast to the time before so I owe it to you that I update my review. The people at the front desk were not friendly this time. Just seemed bored to be checking us in and out. Kip, the sweet dog, was laying on the floor by the desk, so I leaned down to pet him and stood up to the stink eye from the nearby employees. Geez, I just pet the thing. It wasn't like I slipped him some Ex-Lax or anything... Lots of sketch people in the parking lot (there is a bar located in it-- not a classy one either). It made me feel uncomfortable leaving my car down there. The room was okay. I was really not impressed with the pillows (next time I'll bring my own). The breakfast was "meh" but free, so can't really complain about that. The pool and hot tub are TINY and were overoccupied. I am writing this review as I'm staying in the very hotel I'm reviewing. The only reason is because I cannot sleep due to the noise in the parking lot just outside my window. There is a restaurant/bar right in the parking lot of this hotel an people keep yelling, turning their car stereos up, revving their engines, all the typical things you would find outside a bar at closing time, expected, however I do not want this happening here when me and my family are trying to sleep. Everything else about this hotel is standard, nothing that exceeds my expectations of a hotel of this type. My suggestion is if you plan on staying on a weekend and actually want a good nights rest stay somewhere further out of town. read more

I'll admit that I had pretty low expectations when I made my reservation. It had been several years since I'd stayed at a Holiday Inn, and my previous experiences with the chain hadn't been the greatest. However, by the time we checked out the next morning, we were so impressed with the value, cleanliness, and level of service that we actually sought out other Holiday Inn Express locations to stay at during our cross-country trip. I found the hotel using Petswelcome.com, since we needed a place that would accommodate our two French Bulldog beasts. When we checked in, we were greeted by the hotel's friendly golden retriever, Kip. Although Kip and my two dogs didn't quite hit it off, the staff were very understanding and friendly. They didn't charge a pet fee, which made this place an even more desirable place to stay with the pooches. The room was basic but very clean, and the sheets were surprisingly soft for a value motel chain. In addition to a free hot breakfast bar in the mornings (offerings range from the usual continental stuff to eggs, biscuits and gravy), they also offered pasta and salad in the late afternoons and cookies and milk in the evenings... all for no additional charge. I didn't partake in any of the food other than breakfast, but the food wasn't bad. It's hot and free, so I can't complain. ;) If I ever find myself in Spokane again, I'll definitely come back to this place. read more

This by far was the best place we have stayed in Spokane. They were so friendly and accommodating. Front seat was very welcoming, our room was very clean, and the pool was warm!!! When we came back to the hotel at night they had warm cookies and cold milk to go with it. My kids were in heaven! What really made us want to come back again was how great the breakfast staff was. Always asking if everything was ok, making sure the food was hot and fresh. They even came out with snacks for our kids to take for later. We had a group of 7 and there were no tables that would fit us all together, so they opened the conference room for us so we could enjoy our breakfast as a family. Truly the meaning of above and beyond! We will only ever stay here when we come to Spokane! read more

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Our kids had some of the free pasta offered for dinner and cookies at bedtime. They enjoyed a swim (the pool had a very strong chlorine smell, which is to be expected). The beds and blackout curtains were great. We all had a very comfortable sleep. The free wi-fi was nice. The location isn't the best if you are wanting to visit the city of Spokane as it is outside of the city centre (though not far). First and foremost Mary (Front Desk) is one of a kind and has made our experience here even better than expected, she was very sweet and even baby sat our dog so we could go for dinner. We stopped here and stayed overnight when the weather got bad and we didn't want to travel any further. Overall, it was a great experience. They don't charge a pet fee, which is awesome, and they have a golden retriever (Kip, I think) that greets you when you walk in - so they're very pet-friendly. The pool is nice - we loved the duck murals painted on the walls! So detail-oriented. We wished the pool would've been open later, or 24-hours, but we still had a good time. The only downside was the noise from the bar/club in the same parking lot. We were there on a Sunday night and stayed in a corner room facing the bar, and I could hear the bass from the club until it closed. Besides that, it was a quiet hotel. If you requested a room on the side opposite of the club, you might not have the same issue. All the staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we checked out they wanted to know the one thing we'd change - it was nice to get asked that. If we're in the same situation and in the area, we'll definitely return. read more

WOW!!! If all Holiday Inns was like this I would only stay at them. It was very nice and new looking. The manager was giving out wine and cookies the evening I was there and their breakfast was as good as it gets at any hotel. The room was large with everything I needed. There was only one thing that could be better; the toilet was in an odd place in the bathroom. It was kind of behind the door so you would have to shut the door to use it. I travel alone on business all the time so I seldom close the door. It's a little thing but it seems like the bathroom was not well planned when they made it. I was here for 1 night after a really long day at Silverwood Theme Park. We checked in at around midnight and the clerk checked us in quickly. The rate for the night was quite reasonable and the room was really nice. We had 2 queen beds in ours and it was great to rest our weary heads on after a long day of screaming at a theme park. The free breakfast in the morning was good, much the same at any other Holiday Inn Express. We didn't really use the pool but it looked awfully small. There is also a bar in front of the hotel, but we didn't really hit that place up. Also, be sure to call the front desk for the WiFi password, nice free perk. read more
