I stay in a lot of hotels all over the state and country for work and this is one of the best. I actually live in Cheney and needed somewhere to stay for a few days while I had laryngitis trying to avoid giving it to my husband! This is a chain hotel but doesn't feel like it at all. I'm pretty sure it's locally owned. Hotel is nice looking and extremely clean. Beds are comfortable (sheets are super soft) and the rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. The breakfast which is included is very good. They even served individual chiobani yogurts. I got to chatting with an employee named Kate who was super friendly. Would 10\10 recommend this hotel to visiting family and friends. read more

Came to Cheney for a football game. I've stayed in way to many hotels In my life and this little gem is over the top quality and clean. Breakfast was very good, and very well maintained and kept full and clean. Rooms were spotless and the beds extremely comfortable. My wife complains a lot about hotel beds being very uncomfortable, and she loved it. The staff was extremely helpful.. only complaint I had was a issue hooking to WiFi. The IHG page never had a spot. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Cheney. For the code given on my key voucher. Don't stay here if you don't want to be accused & charged for damage you know you DID NOT do on a One night stay

Your employees can make or break a business. Upon arriving at the hotel it has a beautiful exterior. The wooden open drive through roof is a nice feature. I walked inside and it was clean. There were two staff members talking as I walked up. They continued to talk about a date one of them had gone on, as I stood there. Finally one of them looked over at me and asked if she could help. I told here I was here to check in. That apparently took her by surprise. During the check in process she got upset because I wasn't going to leave my kids names on the check in form. She said "if your kids get locked out we will have to call you." As if that is an issue. Got checked in and went to the room. It was a double queen with a pull out. Pretty nice room and clean. You couldn't really hear the train from the room, middle of the building. We woke up the next morning and headed out. Came back later on and found the room was kind of attended. The garbage was removed and latterly the sheets and blankets were just pulled up, not made at all. All 3 beds were the same. We had to head out to dinner and on my way out I saw the manager there. I gave her the info and she asked me to text her with the pictures I took. We were also out of conditioner and she said she would run that up right away. Nothing happened. We came back later to find the beds the same way. When we came back the receptionist said welcome back and was very friendly. She said she just made cookies if we wanted some. I walked over to get one and noticed a long blonde hair in the middle of the cookies. I advised her that there was a hair. She turned it around, pulled the hair, yelled at someone in the back office, and turned the cookies right back for us to take. Ummmmm...no thank you. Overall its a nice hotel with a decent location. Easy access and not a bad place to stay. Hot tub and pool are nice and maintained. They really need to work with their staff to make a better experience for all. read more

The guy at the desk stole my credit card number and started using it several months later. I was suspicious because he wanted to take it, instead of paying myself with a card machine, so I gave him a credit card that I literally NEVER use. It was the only time I used the card, so it was very obvious who stole the number! I knew he was stealing my card number, but it was very late and I had to sleep so I was stuck! Sure enough, months later the fraudulent charges appeared. BEWARE and never give any employee your credit card! read more

My partner and I enjoyed our stay here overall. Price per night was decent and our room was very clean, quiet, and well-stocked. They handled the free breakfast as well as they could with Covid-19 restrictions, portions were a little small. All the staff were pretty friendly and wearing their masks correctly. My only complaint is that the beds were pretty firm, so I had a hard time getting comfortable (but they offered both soft and firm pillows, which was a plus). 4.5 stars. read more

I've spent many a night at this place. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, and bonus that you get a fridge and a microwave! So awesome compared to a lot of other "nicer" hotels I've been to. Located across the street from a strip mall with a Safeway, fast food joints, and a Starbucks. The morning breakfast is a nice touch, as I usually don't have time to run and grab something before heading into the office. But I thought they used to have cookies or something at check in, and the last couple of times, no cookies. And yes, the train can be annoying at first, but its all background noise for me. read more

This place was fantastic. To say there a lot of people in town would be an understatement. Between a volleyball tournament and March Madness (women), everywhere was crazy busy. This hotel had a nice staff and clean everything. Indoor pool was a plus. Free breakfast was hot and filling. They also keep a coffee/tea bar open all day for guests. read more

If I could give a negative review I'd give it with pleasure. Do not stay here if you're African American and deal with the racist General Manager Kamree Lands . The most racist General Manager Kamree Lands denied my reservation because I have Service Animal. They have you fill out a form asking WHY you have a Service Animal and what the animal does for you. After being up since 4am, traveling for 4 hours, then having to wait 2 hours for a room, needless to say I didn't put everything she's capable of doing, so General Manager Kamree Lands decided to make my dog an emotional support dog since she decided to become a doctor on the spot. I called corporate office to make a complaint. Called my daughter and she offered to keep my service animal since she only lives a few minutes away. So the gentleman (nice guy) at the counter says oh great and proceeds to register me at the hotel. But Kamree Lands told the front counter clerk I couldn't stay at the hotel, I go to her office and ask why since my service animal won't be there, Ms Kamree told me "no you can't stay here because you filed a complaint". I asked her where in your rules and bylaws does it state that and to show me. She says "I don't have to, I'm the General Manager and I can do what I want". And she goes on to tell me she's not racist because she's married to a black man and has 3 beautiful black babies. So what does that mean. Hmmm, You can be married to a black man and still be racist. So no brownie points there Kamree Lands. Since corporate was so kind to find and reserve me another hotel, within an hour I get an alert from my LinkedIn account that General Manager Kamree Lands was on my profile and for what. Like now she wants to stalk me. read more

David, the manager, saw my needs and was always professional. 6 weeks is a long time to be in a hotel, and I indeed saw the genuine service from the entire staff. While traveling on the road late at night, I was left with very few options because all of the hotels/motels in Spokane were booked (?). As I drove past the Spokane airport, I realized some of the places out there might have rooms. Because of good experiences in the past and a generally good public image of Holiday Inn (great commercials too), I stopped there first. Unfortunately, that location did not have any rooms left but they informed me of the Cheney location. I asked them to call to check on avaliable rooms - the young woman at the desk quickly called and even told them to hold a room for me. I arrived around 2:00 AM and was greeted by another friendly young woman who made checking-in incredibly easy. When I asked about a late check-out, she told me she could give us until 2:00 PM. This surprised me because I thought the normal check-out was 11:00 AM but it turns out to be noon, which is an extra plus. The following morning, the hotel did have breakfast - which was very good. Unfortunately, (and the reason why they only got 4 stars instead of 5) they had Fox News on the TV in the breakfast area. This is not what I want to be hearing/seeing when I wake up in the morning...at least put on CNN which is more moderate. Ultimately, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The room was reasonably priced and further discounted by the AAA discount. Not too shabby. read more

Hmmm. Where can I start. I'll start from checking in. When we checked in, it was midnight and my mother and I didn't know if we could check in, but they were kind enough to let us check in at that that. (Check in time is at 4) Rooms: The rooms are very neat, it includes a fridge and a microwave. Just one negative. My mom is a housekeeper herself, and she kept complaining how sloppy the housekeeper was. I really don't know how to explain how see feels but the housekeepers need to pick up the slack. What my mom and I really liked was the free breakfast which is from 6-9 am. It is great because my mom wouldn't have to worry about getting breakfast early in the morning and all we have to worry about was our lunch and dinner. They had coffee, milk, yogurt, bagels, bread, and even other beverages. The staff and very friendly and they helped us with our way around the town. Although there isn't anything to do around the hotel. It is only convenient for the people who wants to be close to Eastern Washington University. And there are train tracks right next to the hotel, but it didnt bother my mother and I. Theres a pool and a fitness center on the first floor. There are also vending machines if you need them. There are shopping marts close by. And if youre on a budget, theres a bus that you can ride for only a $1.50 for youths and adults. And be sure to ask for a pass which lasts for two hours. There is also free wifi but I am not sure if it was my phone, but the internet was very laggy. Overall, this hotel is pretty good. It was very comfy and we enjoyed our stay there. read more

I did not realize that there was a railroad track running right next to the hotel until 10:30 pm my first night when the train rolled by. Of course, it's at an intersection, so they are obligated to blow the horn. Their swimming pool is open until midnight. Delightful for late night swimming unless your room is located near the pool. We were directly above the pool, so could hear every splash and echoed yell. After falling back to sleep after the train, the yelling in the pool woke me up at midnight. I called the front desk and they assured me they were in the process of closing the pool. As an added benefit, when I opened the door to my closet, I was hit with the strong smell of chlorine wafting up from the pool! The shower looked clean, but had that funky mildew smell the minute you turned on the water. I'm all for water conservation, but the shower water flow is so low, it's more like it's drooling on you. After a couple of minutes, the pipes start screaming at you. I tried turning off the water and then turning it back on. But, after a few seconds it starts emitting this high pitched scream again. It happened both mornings. I assume something is off with the plumbing. It wakes up other people in the room with you. The walls are paper thin. You can hear even quiet conversations between people walking down the hall. My first morning, a woman next door had a coughing fit at 5 am that nearly had me on the phone to 911. There was a group of us at the hotel and we all had the same complaints about noise. We came to the conclusion that although the hotel looks new, it was very cheaply built. This is not a cheap hotel in terms of price. I will never stay here again. I'd rather drive a few miles and stay at a decent place in Spokane or Airport Heights. read more

I accidentally scuttled on to this shuttle (aiming instead for the spokane version) and then had to pay a "small fee" 30 bucks for the trip from the airport. This is the second time staying at the HI Express In Cheney and it is one of the nicest Holiday Inn's I've ever been at. Super clean, modern and updated rooms, Safeway across the street, AWESOME breakfast spread and more importantly friendly and attentive staff. We will be coming back frequently as our daughter attends EWU and happy to know we will have a "home away from home" to stay at each time. read more

I'm allergic to dairy and there wasn't very many options. Also, the juice tasted very cheap and so did the food. Like it was al just microwaved. What a wonderful experience. This newly remodeled hotel gave us two excellent nights and a great retirement venue for our friend's retirement party. Their breakfast spread was excellent and the facilities are top class. We enjoyed everything about our stay. No need to stay anywhere else in the Spokane area. read more

Checked in about 3 went downtown to have a couple of drinks and dinner. I came back to take a shower... the water was cold, called the desk... she said she would upgrade me. Actually it was a downgrade smaller bathroom smaller TV, older furniture, not happy will talk to the manager tomorrow. read more

During our stay we had a large group of rambunctious women of which there was no complaint. Everyone was really nice and our room was clean and large. Breakfast was fine although the pancake in a minute machine made me leery. That just doesn't seem normal. read more

We booked this place for family that was coming to visit. They love to travel and said that this is the best place they have ever visited. In the morning the people who cooked food would come over and chat with them and they really enjoyed how welcomed they felt. They needed for nothing while there. The day they left early am... they made them a plate of food for the road. They said no one has ever done that for them. This place is an extension of family with their treatment of the guests. That's right, The Holiday Inn in Cheney is a nice facility but their business practices are out to screw the consumer. I had booked a room at the Holiday Inn on their website in Sept. In October, I knew that my travel plans were changing so I called the Holiday Inn well in advance of my stay and asked them to modify my reservation. I was told that when I booked online, I had selected a pre-paid rate and the reservation could not be changed and that they were keeping the money. In the travel industry, its standand that if you make a change to your reservation you maybe penalized and charged a change fee but its robbery that they are keeping the entire amount and not allowing changes to reservations. My Advise, only book this hotel if you are 100% certain that your travel plans wont change, otherwise they will take your money. read more

I am rating this location 4 stars for what a Holiday Inn can be! I am impressed with the room styles, cleanliness, and modernization. Our room was huge with a complimentary Keurig and coffee. It had a fantastic work space for my computer. Our bathroom was well lit and well stocked. I was quite apprehensive when our hallway didn't even have the walls finished because of their recent remodel, but I was relieved when I walked in to find our room. Buyer beware, only book a reservation here if you are absolutely certain you will not need to cancel, even in the event of unforeseen circumstances. There is a pattern of unfair business practices with this hotel related to cancellations, even with active duty military personnel. One of the Yelp "not recommended" reviews relates to a member of our country's military being called to duty 2 nights into a 3 night stay and being charged for the 3rd night. I have a similar experience related to this franchised hotel's refusal to cancel a reservation with a months advance notice even though they have no open rooms for the date of my reservation. Perhaps the want to "double dip" by charging me and renting my room out to another guest. I will NEVER stay at a Holiday Inn Express again, anywhere, ever... read more

We stayed here for 2 nights and will definitely be back !! Great experience from the moment you walk in. Very clean, and welcoming/helpful front desk. Our room was great, very clean, modern decoration and a great walk in shower ! The breakfast was impressive for being free. Toast, bread of any kind with a toaster, cereals and oatmeal, biscuits and gravy with sausage, fruit and pastries and a pancake maker ! It is very close to EWU and makes it very convenient if you need to go to campus. Great stay, will definitely stay again !!! read more

I got in Sunday night at 6:00 and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. However as she killed me with kindness, she also killed me with being extremely exacting. I was traveling for business purposes and had a room rented for me by my company. When I got there she wanted a credit card for "incidentals". I don't use credit cards and was not prepared to have a $50 hold on my debit card since I am reimbursed for my food after my business trips. She would not give me a key to the room that was already paid for unless she had a credit card and so I had to call my boss on a Sunday night to get one. And that's not even the worst part. After I gave her the phone to speak with him, she wouldn't take it because she needed proof of ownership via emailed or faxed picture ID. So while I greatly appreciate her verifying the identity of the card holder. I do not appreciate how hard she has made it for me to simply check in. Given that it is obviously a corporate rental for me, I feel that she went out of her way to do so. Now I am sitting and waiting for an unknown amount of time until my boss can somehow prove his identity to this impossible woman at the front desk that is holding my room hostage! So I am now checked in 45 minutes after I arrived. I am not the picky type and rarely shy away from uncomfortable situations, but I don't even want to walk by the front desk now. I purposely went in and out of the side entrance. Very bad experience and it hasn't even been one night yet. Luckily I am familiar with the hotel chain and know that the room will at least be a pleasant one. read more

The stay here was average, nothing special, its a Holiday Inn not the Ritz. The stay wasn't the bad part, the bad part was checking out. My original reservation was for 3 nights, but I was called back to duty, I am station at the navy base near Seattle, unexpectedly. After the second night I checked out of my room, informing the front desk that I was unexpectedly called back to duty and will have to check out early. The front desk employee checked me out and charged me for the two nights that I spent there. A week later I notice an additional charge on my card from the hotel. I called the hotel to get an explanation for the additional charge. I was informed that because I didn't stay the additional evening, and they were un able to re-sale that room I was charged for the room. At no point during the check out process was I informed of this. I was told that I will be charged for the two nights that I actually stayed at the hotel. The receipt the receipt on reflects the charges for the two nights I stayed there. Again at no point was I informed that I would be charged for the additional night nor was I giving the proper receipt to reflect the additional charges. I think asked for a receipt to be sent to me, since I did not authorize this additional charge. I have stayed at Holiday Inn hotels in the past and I have had to check out early before and this has never happened to me once. I am not displeased with the hotel itself, I am displeased with the customer service from Dustin Schulte, and the fact that I was not informed of this additional charge when I checked out of the hotel. A receipt was not given to me for this additional charge either. Isn't a receipt supposed to be issued for all transactions? If a receipt is not issued is that technically charging a card with out the proper authorization? Dustin Schulte did not offer any assistance nor was he every accommodating. read more
