My friend and I visit the distillery this past weekend and it was so cool! The weather was absolutely perfect. The grounds that the distillery is on is really beautiful. We took a tour of the distillery and even though it was really cool seeing and hearing about everything, our tour guide kept forgetting parts of the tour and fumbling over his words a bit. A lot of awkward silences of him trying to remember. That was the only hiccup of the experience though. The whiskey is obviously good and the cocktails that we ordered were really good as well. I would definitely come back here again.

So my friend bought a 30 person private tour of Holladay Distillery and we were invited. Not knowing what to expect we were reserved with our expectations. I'm here to tell you that it was more than we expected and Emma (tour guide), did an absolutely fantastic job and it could not have been better. The food was great, the bourbon (as well as the other cocktails) were fantastic and learning about the entire bourbon making process was incredibly informative and enjoyable! The entire place is impressive and the ghost stories were very enjoyable- great job Holladay, great job!

Really cool spot that makes for a fun tour and really good bourbon. The soft red wheat rickhouse proof is highly recommended. Only recommendation would be to add the ancient cave collection to the tasting at the end of the tour.

We were a group of three friends who visited primarily to listen to the live music performance. We did not take the distillery tour, and did not drink the bourbon. Even without using the distillery for its primary purposes, we had a five star visit. The grounds were charming, the patio was screened in, and on his particular day, the weather was perfect. The patio and lounge are all set up with large screens for sports watching, And there were water dispensers available for self-serve. Other drinks get ordered from the bar. There didn't appear to be table service. The live music was excellent though there are presumably different performers on various days. there is also outdoor seating with corn hole, rope toss, and a game I won't know the name up, but involves tossing a metal ring onto a hook. We spent about three hours there and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

I am not a bourbon drinker but I am definitely coming back here for the drinks and atmosphere. My friends and I stopped by here and we tried their bourbon. We had 2 of their many cocktails; peanut butter banana split and honey apple crisp. We took the drinks to their beautiful scenic outdoor seating. It was magical, like one of those movie picnic moment. There was a food truck on this day, Nikki-G's soul-Q. The service of the bartenders was wonderful. They were patient with us while we decide on our drinks. The only think I would want them to change is their bathrooms. They only have one male and one female bathroom. There was a line for the female bathroom constantly.

Visited the Holladay distillery on my way to Lawrence and it did not disappoint in the slightest! We purchased drinks in their welcome center prior to going on a tour and they were delicious. The tour and our guide were both great as well! We were able to visit multiple buildings around the grounds including a rickhouse! I would recommend visiting, even if you don't like whiskey!

My family and I visited this establishment during the holiday season (after all, a Hallmark movie was filmed in Weston!). When we entered, the atmosphere was warm and cheerful. The bartender was very friendly and worked quickly to service all of the guests (the bar top was full) while maintaining a cheerful attitude. She was very helpful in suggesting different shots that we would prefer and answered questions about the different cocktails on the drink menu. I am unsure whether it is a December thing, but this establishment allows you to order 4 shots, 25 cents each! Additionally, I ordered an Irish Chocolate Truffle martini which was dangerously sweet, but very beautiful. I loved the presentation and the taste -- however, beware -- this is DEFINITELY a drink if you're a major chocolate lover. I really enjoyed visiting this establishment and would love to return again with my family in the future.

A great, quick trip from KCMO is this lovely distillery. We got lucky and got a spot off the waitlist for a tour on Saturday. We started the morning with cocktails and a history lesson. The tour is well worth your time and money! The distillery grounds are expansive and there is a lot to learn. After the tour, we stopped by the gift shop and enjoyed a drink outside. Each drink we tried was well mixed, and they make a variety of cocktails and non-alcoholic options to suit everyone's taste. Also, I'd love to host an event in the event space. It's a perfect mix of rustic and elegant, and there are outside spaces to relax, too.

Seeing a scary cave movie IN a cave "theater" - yes please! But I did NOT expect to love the unique location and distillery as much as I did. SD Strong Distillery is about 30 minutes outside of Kansas City, MO, so not too far of a drive at all. The Distillery is located in the Parkville Commercial Underground, a business park underneath the University of Park University (let's see how many more times I can say PARK haha) Once you find the location and enter the cavernous business park, you'll find a place to park and then walk your way through some cavey looking tunnels to the SD Strong Distillery. Once there you will definitely feel like you're in both a cave and a distillery, with barrels for aging outside the door and a craggly stone roof over your head. The drinks were amazing, especially the in-house distilled bourbon, used in a few mixed drinks that were delicious. The staff were awesome, particularly with handling all the people who were there for the movie event. The film was shown in a side room that was extra dark (perfect for movie watching), and it was the best way to end our experience!

Little did I know that President Truman's political rise was deeply rooted in Kansas City--and facilitated by Tom Pendergast's sprawling web of influence, from concrete contracts to control of the police. It quickly becomes clear why they called it Tom's Town. I booked a tour at the last minute on a Saturday night, showed up 15 minutes early, and eased into the evening with a few sips of a perfectly made Old Fashioned--yes, you're allowed to bring it with you on the tour. From there, it was part distillery walkthrough, part Prohibition-era storytelling, and part generous spirits tasting. Our guide, Tony, was outstanding--enigmatic, passionate, and incredibly articulate. He brought the history to life without ever feeling rehearsed or dry. The dimly lit lounge rooms seal the deal, giving the entire place an authentic speakeasy vibe that feels both polished and transportive. If you're in Kansas City--even briefly--this is a must. Come for the cocktails, stay for the history.

The space was so cool - everywhere you looked was a nod to the book/movie. The drinks/cocktails were aptly named and we tried a couple of them. The blackberry bramble (I believe) was especially good. We did not eat dinner, but we did get the giant oatmeal cream pie and split it as we sat with our cocktails.

I landed back in KC for work and went straight to Restless Spirits in North Kansas City on my way to my hotel from the airport. They put my luggage in the distillery so I could enjoy all they had to offer. I made it in-time for happy hour--$2 off cocktails and some snacks 4-6pm each night. I love the decor--lights are dim and it's very homey and cozy. The bar has books behind it and looks old-timey. It's almost mid-November but there were still Halloween decorations up and some Halloween drinks for sale in a fridge in the back. The distillery in the back is large and looming--they give tours, but I didn't take one. I sat at the bar and enjoyed being served my $2 off espresso martini from Abby and listening to her and Cheryl tell me about the history of the bar. It's predominately Irish drinks (the founders/owners are Irish) and they had a mafia-like war with another Irish brewer in the Kansas City area. That brewer's logo includes goats I believe, and Restless Spirits' includes a bunny! That's why many of their drinks have a bunny on it. The manager Adam is also from Ireland (his wife's family is from Overland Park) and is so friendly. Abby was the best bartender, really taking care of me and making me feel at home. She's thoughtful, kind, caring, fun, and funny. She worked the room well, serving a table who requested a drink from her because they liked one she made. Restless Spirits has a lot of cool merch and history (there's a merch room) and I left with a green hoodie that says "got whiskey" for my partner who loves whiskey. They've also won best distillery in Kansas City for the past few years! They offer cinnamon-flavored whiskey and so many cool Irish-American drinks and cocktails. There are many great gins of different styles like herbal, dry, and botanical but not in the same combination of flavors and smoothness as Restless.
