I really don't understand why people complain about the slow service, isn't it better to be slow but fresh and hot than fast and cold?? I dunno but my experience was great here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. There was ample parking and the restaurant looks like a nice cozy home from the outside. Lets get to the food... Steak tips-Steak was cooked to perfection, medium and it was very tasty. I really enjoyed it paired with the eggs. Breakfast burrito- Was really good and we picked ham as our meat and they really stuffed the burrito to make sure you wont go hungry lol. My daughter really enjoyed with bacon with scrambled eggs.. The service was fine with us and we didn't think it took a long time for our food to be served to us. Anyhoo I highly recommend this spot for breakfast. read more

We were traveling through towns and just so happened to come across this restaurant. We all had breakfast. To my surprise they had home cooked corned beef hash which was so good. Breakfast is breakfast. It was all good. What we really enjoyed were all the flowers, vegetables, and the grape arbors around the restaurant. It was beautiful and we took our time taking pictures of flowers. My friends are artists and will use the pictures to inspire their art work. The waitress was nice. It took a little time to get our food but we understand times are different in the time of Covid. I would definitely go back. read more

I took a moment to read some of these negative comments and wondered if I had eaten in the same establishment these people are speaking about. My both breakfast experiences were nothing less than amazing! I am a foodie and have dined places that run the gamut from complete garbage to first class. I found the Hollis Country Kitchen to be a little slice of home. I just wish my mom could have assembled meals this tasty. After eating here the first time on August 12, upon a recommendation from my long term friend of 40 years and Hollis resident I took another friend here that I had not seen in over 42 years. I asked Steve where I could get a good quality breakfast that would not break the bank. We were first impressed by our young waitress who was cute as a button with a wonderful personality. It turned out that her full time job was a school teacher. WE had some great conversation and some great food. After we finished our meal I asked to meet the chef who in fact was the owner Catherine Hyland. We both complimented her on our waitress, the quality and quantity and quality of the food and the decor. YES...ok, it is a bit noisy, but this is a family restaurant and I felt it ads to the ambiance. If the sound of people enjoying conversation bothers you, you can always sit outside where things are a bit quieter. I was so impressed with this place that I returned again on August 18, with an old college buddy just before leaving town to return here to Arizona. Unfortunately our original waitress was not working that day but the other waitress was just as nice. As before, food was ample and extremely tasty. I called out Catherine again to say good bye and let her know how please we were with her presentation and to let her know I would return soon again. This place is a little slice of home. Prices are not cheap but far from expensive. Believe me, I work hard for my money and I do gripe when things are overpriced, I just did not feel that way here. I've driven past this place a million times, each time mentally noting how much I want to stop and eat here. Well, today was the day. Hub and I stopped here for a late lunch on this beautiful summer day. While the inside of the restaurant looked cozy, we opted to sit in the wonderfully landscaped outdoor dining area. Soon our friendly server greeted us and took our drink order (hub: iced coffee, I: Diet Coke). When she returned with the drinks we ordered lunch. Hub had a pancake with real maple syrup and a grilled cinnamon muffin. I ordered the Philly burger (1/2 lb cheeseburger w/ grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms) with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was excellent--cooked medium to perfection, the grilled toppings added good flavor, and the bun was super fresh. Hub enjoyed his pancake and muffin--the buttered, grilled muffin was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. This review is for breakfast only. On our way to the Hollis Flea Market, Dennis and I stopped in for a early Sunday breakfast. We sat outside on the lovley patio which is surrounded by flower gardens and a grape arbor with real grapes. I had the corned beef hash skillet which has huge chunks of corn beef, cheese and topped with 2 eggs. The multi grain toast was to good and the waitress reported that they get it from a local bakery. Dennis had the kielbasa skillet, which was similar to mine. Both skillets came with very well seasoned home fries. The coffee here is really good as well as the service. I hope to come back some day to try out lunch or dinner. BYO beer or wine for those who wish. read more

We came here once prior for lunch. The place was empty and we waited an hour for lunch. Fast forward to today. We went for breakfast and the place was packed, but they had three open tables when we went in. So we sat down and ordered pretty quick, within 5 minutes. It took exactly ONE HOUR for us to get our lunch (2 adults and a child - a breakfast burrito with no sides, a slice of french toast, and a breakfast skillet). Not only was the wait atrocious, but we saw a couple come in about 15 minutes after us who ordered, got their food, paid, and left BEFORE we got our food. Another couple came in about 30 minutes after us and got their food a minute after we did. No one even came around to ask if we wanted more coffee yet alone chocolate milk that my son finished 30 minutes ago. SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. the food is okay, but we will never be back. Somehow a staple of our town and, simultaneously, incredibly underrated, Hollis Country Kitchen has never once disappointed me in the 17 some years I've lived in Hollis. A surprising variety of food is available for a small town diner, and within that variety of food, every dish is delicious and made with care. Portions are generous and prices are REASONABLE, unlike a lot of places in Hollis. Hollis Country Kitchen is open breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I don't think it'd be a bad idea to go for all three. read more

We stopped in for dinner during the week - wasn't busy with diners at two or three other tables. There were 2-3 servers taking orders and running room. The decor is a bit shabby-chic, late 80's. The BYOB feature is definitely a plus. We ordered a kebab salad, fresh fish pasta, and clams as an appetizer. We had to ask for silverware and water when the appetizers arrived. Also took a while for our server to find tarter and cocktail sauce, which was not included with the clams. Our meals came out about 30 minutes later (~ 45 minutes after we arrived), which seemed quite long considering the place was mostly empty. I wonder if there was a mix up with the order because we were asked what type of lettuce/salad we wanted with our kebabs (figured it was a Greek-style salad but there are several options). The fish pasta was well prepared and spicy. The chicken was tender and the salad fresh. Had to ask for Parmesan cheese for our pasta, which eventually arrived. We overheard a conversation at the other table, sounded like a a mix-up in their dinner order. The food was tasty but it wasn't cheap; the pasta - $28, clam appetizer - $14, salad ~ $15. Our saving grace was the BYOB option, which saved us some money. We will give it another try, the food was worth the drive. read more

We love this place for breakfast but have not tried it for lunch or dinner. It's a cozy little rustic restaurant that feels like it is way out in the woods even though it is in the center of Hollis. Their specialty is their skillets. Breakfast comes in a little ceramic skillet. You get two eggs, potatoes and whatever else you order. They have a number of different skillets from which to order. There are other things on the menu if you don't want a skillet. The food is very good and the severs are upbeat and cheerful. This is one of our "go to..." places for breakfast in the Nashua area. It is extremely popular with the locals and it has quite a few "regulars." read more

This place is perfect if you want to eat at your own leisure. Prior to coming here my friends that live in the area had mentioned that service is very slow but the food is worth it and I couldn't agree more. We were seated quickly however waited over 30min to have our food ordered and lost track of time afterwards since the food also took a while to come. The place at that time was not packed, a lot of people had already left but we still waited and the food did not disappoint. I ordered an egg benedict that was made perfectly especially the egg. I would suggest coming here if you have the time and there is indoor and nice outdoor seating as well. read more

Visit date: 6/18/20 We arrived around 6 p.m. and had a nice table under a Linden tree. We got our drinks and all was great. Things went downhill after that: our food did not arrive till just after 7 p.m. It arrived on plastic trays with lids, the kind one gets for take outs at a cheap roadside cafe. Of course, the cutlery was plastic, too. My heart sank at such a presentation of a much anticipated Greek dinner. I was looking at sad, wilted, slightly orange rice accompanied by four small nuggets of lamb. My husband had a very small mound of very soggy fries with equally small amount of lamb. His dish cost some $21, mine around $17. Despite struggling with plastic forks and knives (it is not easy to cut firm meat with these), we soldiered on. The food would have tasted great under different circumstances. I could not find information as to dine-in food having to be served on, and with, plastic due to the pandemic in NH as a whole. We ate on normal crockery elsewhere. We were given glass glasses for our drinks, so why not normal plates? After all, dishes get washed at high temperatures. Not to mention the horrendous amount of plastic waste. Not a positive, memorable dining experience. I sent this feedback to them via their website, where they claim to welcome customer comments. I have driven past Hollis Country Kitchen many times and always see the parking lot packed with cars. This past Sunday found me, my boyfriend and his mother pulling into the very lot. After reading the yelp reviews, we decided it's time to give them a shot. We walked into the restaurant fully expecting a wait. All the tables were occupied and we were the only ones waiting for a table. I believe we were sitting in the waiting area for 5 minutes and we were never greeted or even acknowledged. I decided to stand up and smile at a waitress walking by. I said, "Hello". She walked right by me, rolled her eyes. I'm a forgiving person. I thought, maybe she was busy. Few more minutes passed and a table opened up. It went unclean. We looked around for a signal from someone to tell us it'll be a minute or sit down and someone will be with you. Nothing like that, still ignored. New customers started walking in the door, so we decided to go to the open table and just wait for the server there. We sat down. Finally a server came by the table, moved a high chair out of the way and only acknowledged us after I said hello. She was very short with me. At this point, I could not forgive them. I was livid. They can't even acknowledge us as customers and be civil? We decided that we gave them enough of our time and too many chances to turn our experience around. We decided to go to The Market Place diner which was conveniently located right across the street. When we walked out the door, we heard someone yell to our backs, "FINE, LEAVE. I DON'T CARE." Sorry Hollis Country Kitchen, but my review of two stars is accurate despite the higher rating you have on Yelp, and I believe more people would agree with me, here's why... First, you call yourself a "Country Kitchen" serving "American Fare" yet the vast majority of your menu is Mediterranean (Greek/Italian). So, it's a bit of a let-down when you expect a "Country Kitchen" and realize the "Country" being referred to here is better defined as, "not this country." The food is mediocre at best and certainly not worth the wait. In fairness, it says on the menu that everything is made to order so it will take longer to prepare, and I respected that, but I also expect the food to be worth that wait and it wasn't. Its only redeeming quality was that the ingredients were, in fact, fresh - particularly the vegetables. That was noticeable. You definitely had the right idea, I just don't think the "chef" is skilled enough to pull it off. The atmosphere is the only thing you could say substantiated the "Country Kitchen" claim as it is very dirty. Our table was sticky and we sat by a window that had 6 flies buzzing against it (seriously, six flies, I counted, and we waited so long that I started naming them and coming up with a backstory for each). Honestly, that was the worst part about it, the obvious and noticeable lack of cleanliness. Last, and perhaps the insult to injury, it's a two star with three or four star prices. I don't believe that's what most people are expecting to pay per dish at a "Country Kitchen." My wife and I ate dinner there, no appetizers, two meals (her's and mine), and two Cokes, and a tip came to over $50. You are not a high-end establishment, and your chef is no Gordon Ramsay... Drop the pretense and the price and serve American Country Fare. So, if everything I'm saying is true, how is this place doing so well on Yelp? I must be nit-picky, right? Well, I had wondered this myself until I sat there waiting to eat for 45 minutes and watched the waitresses, other patrons, and pick-up customers interact... They all knew each other. And I don't mean, "Hi Tom, your Alfredo is ready!" I mean, talking about what they were doing TOGETHER the night before. And look, there's something to be said for that good old down-home tight-knit stuff, but suddenly the good ratings made more sense to me. I'm being generous with my two stars, believe me. Another thing is that it's Hollis. There is NOTHING in Hollis. So, when you're comparing this place you're pretty much comparing it to the Dunkin Donuts across the street (personally I think they're in a dead heat on stars). Anyway, you're always welcome to take or leave any review, but if you are passing through or coming from somewhere else to eat here because of its Yelp rating (as in the case with us), now you know the real story here. It is not worth the trip (unless you like the bizarre and poorly executed Mediterranean and Rural American Fusion). This is hands down our fav-o-rite breakfast joint! She always gets the Greek Skillet and I usually end up with the (homemade) Hash Skillet. Coffee is excellent and the refills keep coming. The wait staff is always friendly and the ambience is down-home country community good. We come up from Pepperell because the local breakfast restaurants can't hold a candle to Hollis! Yum yum yummity yum! UPDATE: 10/27/11 Without question, this IS my favorite b'fast joint. Been trying out other local breakfast spots this past summer as starting points for a day of motorcycling and I found myself comparing them to the Hollis Country Kitchen. This is an excellent country restaurant. It isn't particularly glamorous place, but the food is tasty and plentiful. Get here early on the weekends for breakfast. The omelets and home fries are great. There is al fresco dining. BYOB for dinner, if you'd like. The dinner menu is eclectic. read more
