I couldn't believe it myself especially when you walk into this place and look around, it just doesn't seem like it's going to be good but I've had folks recommend this spot for Italian subs and it turned out to be one of the best Italian subs I've ever had. Listen, where do I even start? I literally had to call 311 and city of Chicago to report this establishment recently not even recently but very long this establishment has been and up charging prices when you come to the they put the the item and then when you pay with a card you Around 40% and then try to lie and claim that it is taxes so I called the city of Chicago and they said they will be sending someone to Investigate the establishment. There has been multiple accounts where I have bought an item. They will purposely add a different price and raise the item I purchased a bottle of Coke, which was $2.79. I saw the price which came out to be $3.75. I asked the guy why is it that much and then he said it was taxes taxes in Chicago is $10.25 meaning my total should've been around three dollars. This is the last time I will be going to this establishment beware and they also sell expired products sometimes. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect from the sandwiches at Hollywood Deli but I was impressed. I have always seen the sign for Hollywood and I can finally check it off my bucket list. The deli is located inside of a convenience store. It's located on the back wall past the cash register. I was surprised by the variety of offerings that Hollywood Deli had. They list roughly 6 - 8 sandwiches that you can pick from the menu. I wouldn't be surprised if you can make a custom sandwich from the deli meat options in front of you. The cool thing about Hollywood Deli is that they slice the meat in front of you. The gentleman that made my sandwich was generous with his portions so I was able to get two sandwiches from a six inch. Having the meat sliced fresh made the sandwich taste better. I do like that you can pick up other essential items while grabbing your food. The inside is larger than I expected, especially being connected to an apartment building. My goodness, what a F BOMB hole in the wall spot in edgewater. I enjoy riding my bike and exploring new places to happened to stumble upon this. Small bodega but we'll equipped to make the meanest subs ever. I got the corned beef with a bunch of fixins. Workers were super helpful and the sandwich was HUGE. The entire place emanated a NYC bodega/chopped cheese/the ocky style vibe. The deli is super close to the beach so I ended up biking down there and enjoying it on a bench. Bread from turano + meats from dietz & watson. Everything was sliced fresh (both meats and cheese). I love this place and am so thankful it's in the neighorhood. It's very organized and--even though the space is compact--they always seem to have what I'm looking for. In addition to staples and delicious sandwiches, they have a fabulous selection of ice cream and pickles and some really fun and surprising finds I haven't seen anywhere else. I was impressed to see they cut all their meats and cheeses on demand, ensuring freshness. First thing I noticed was how loaded the sandwich was. The price is generous for how much beef and peppers they give you. They also soak half the loaf to ensure the meat juices flavor covers the bread. The meat was tender, and the giardiniera is what you'd expect to get. The bread was soft but kept the mountain of meat inside nicely. It was delicious. Good selection of toppings and condiments, including several cheeses, and mayo OR Miracle Whip. What we have here is a failure to communicate, so you may have to repeat yourself several times. "Banana peppers." "What?" "Banana peppers." "What?" "Peppers!" "Green or yellow?" Ah. These are old school subs, like you got at Hero's, back in the day. Freaking out with no money, I went in and offered my debit card as collateral until this morning when I can cash a client's check. The owner wouldn't hear of it, he say get what you need and pay when you can, no questions asked. He said I come in all the time, I am good for it. Who does this, not 7/11, Walgreens etc... My experience has been horrible I go there all the time but today wasn't a good experience the old guy that works there treated me like shit today like always but I ignore it but today I could not and I asked why and I was told by the younger cashier that he was mad about something wasn't right to take it out on me but the lady before me he was happy with her?
