Serving huge portions, Morry's has been serving the Southside for decades. I hadn't been in a long while and decided to revisit. I've been on a pastrami kick since having an amazing sandwich at Hershel's Eastside Deli Philly. They said addicts are constantly chasing the euphoric rush of their first hit, but it's impossible to duplicate. I'm beginning to wonder if HEDP ruined sandwiches for me. I've had respectable pastrami/corned beef sandwiches here in Chicago, but none nearly as good. Publican Quality Meats has perfectly cooked pastrami, but it's cold and not offered as a sandwich. Fumare's in The French Market is good, but can be dry and overcooked. Morry's is of lower quality than the aforementioned meat purveyors, but the sandwich will get the job done. Not a bad option by any means, but I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

I have been a customer for many years. The corned beef sandwich used to be really good. The sandwich that I received today was horrible. Very salty and the quality of meat is not Vienna Corned Beef. More like the Budding Brand of corn beef that is sold in the grocery stores. The meat was tough and rubbery. The cheese was awful, not real cheese it was imitation. My mother said a friend came over her house the other day with a corned beef from Morry's in Hyde Park and that it was good, she asked me to take her to get one, we go and buy the corned beef sandwich and I was very disappointed, this was the worse corned beef sandwich I ever had from a deli, it cost 26 dollars for 2 sandwiches and it wasn't worth it, I thought I was about to get a real corned beef sandwich boy was I wrong, this was the meat the we buy in the grocery store in a individual package very thin and processed, not a full sandwich that I was expecting for 13 dollars, this is not the same meat that I bought from them years ago, it must be new owners or something because it was horrible, please don't waste your time or money on this place, 0 stars read more

9/8/2023---After 3 years of hearing my co-workers talk about this place, I finally decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. Mostly because I'm a texture person, and if that's not a go, I can't. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Your food is made to order, which is a plus. There were 2 grilled chicken breasts worth the price. The downfall for me was that all the toppings made it soggy, and I just couldn't do it. I had to scrap the bread. The chicken breast lacked flavor. Honestly, I would give it another try and order something else. It appears to be a neighborhood favorite. There's always a steady flow of customers, and it's clean. So, looking at the reviews, you'll notice that some of them say "huge portions" some say "not enough". Now having eaten at a lot of Jewish deli's I can say their portions are about par-for-the-course. Overall, I found they were fairly priced, especially in Chicago where you should expect to pay more for a sandwich than probably anywhere else in a hundred mile radius. Wish I could give another star but the food was not very good. Jibarito was a sloppy mess. Rice lacked flavor and tasted burnt.

Came by to try out their Italian beef on a Monday around 2 pm. They were pretty empty except for some nice elderly ladies sitting down and playing what appeared to be a large number of scratchers to see if it was their lucky day. I was quickly served by a bunch of the deli workers, who seemed like nice dudes and passed my along their assembly line for serving customers. My Italian beef came out super quickly too. It was great, but not perfect. I especially liked watching my chef vigorously dip my sandwich in the background, and I really appreciated the extra effort he put into making it as juicy as possible. The giardiniera was also probably some of the best I've ever had - perfectly spicy, wonderfully crunchy, and with that beautiful pickle-y flavor - I could tell it was probably extremely fresh. But the beef... Even with such wonderful juice, and some pretty good quality beef, I just felt like it wasn't as beef-ey flavor that I would have liked. The juice ended up just adding like an extra bit of salt flavor that wasn't necessarily that much more interesting. But still, a great Italian beef overall. So I really liked this place! I think if I lived nearby this could become a regular spot for me. The only other issue I see is the price, which was was almost $10 for my sandwich, making this place maybe not be as worth it as some other places with cheaper prices. But definitely check this place out if you're nearby and want some good deli eats! read more

I tried the lox bagel from here and thought it was decent. It wasn't the best lox bagel I've ever had but it was still pretty good. There was a generous amount of salmon on it and the tomatoes and onions were very fresh. The cream cheese was spread on very unevenly, as you can see in the picture, so each bite didn't have a good ratio of all the ingredients. The bagel itself was very average, nothing too special. It was quite filling though and the pickle was a nice addition. I'd come back and try some of their other meat sandwiches someday. read more

So I had a taste for a corned beef sandwich and when AP Deli couldn't come through on the delivery, I decided to make a bold move and try someplace new. Enters Morry's Deli. I'm usually skeptical ordering corned beef sandwiches from places I never tried but I was craving and decided to give them a try. I can't believe I've lived in Chicago all my life and had never been here before. Needless to say I tried the combination pastrami and corned beef on white bread with mustard, mayo, onions, and Swiss cheese. A bomb!!! The pastrami was cooked slightly to add a slight crisp, and the corned beef wasn't fatty like most restaurants. I kept it old school with the toppings (they give you a nice size pickle spear w/it) but I was not disappointed. I would have rated more stars if they wouldn't skimp on the meat.
