Hubby found this for his birthday breakfast spot. It was good and quick. They had a special focaccia that he added one fried egg to. Found it to be soft and tasty. He said he'd definitely get it again. I went with the Bodega breakfast sandwich minus the gogo spread because as you know, I am a wimp when it comes to spice and heat. I enjoyed it a lot but only ate half because it was filling. While we ordered at the counter and were overwhelmed with choice, both items came out quickly. Good amount of pastries- I'll try to remember to report back later. Okay amount of seating. Very clean. Very colorful/cozily decorated. Staff was super friendly and patient as we were newbies. Would definitely come her again.

East and West Coast oysters... Delicious

Full disclosure, my thoughts but AI is so much better a writer then me Tucked away in an unassuming corner, this lunch spot delivers more than it promises--and then some. The sandwich I ordered was excellent: well-balanced, thoughtfully constructed, and packed with flavor. But the real curveball? Oysters. Yes, oysters--on the menu at what appears to be a casual bakery / sandwich shop. Naturally, I was skeptical. Naturally, I ordered them. To my surprise, they were impeccable: briny, fresh, and expertly shucked. Curious, I spoke with one of the owners--who, as it turns out, personally handles the shucking. When I asked about the unexpected addition, he smiled and explained that both he and his partner are die-hard oyster lovers. Thanks to a supplier willing to work in small quantities, they're able to order just a few at a time. Whatever doesn't sell? They simply take home and enjoy. It's a refreshingly personal--and slightly indulgent--approach that works. Somehow, it makes perfect sense: great food made by people who genuinely love what they're serving, even if that means throwing oysters into the mix at lunch.

Sauce and Bread Kitchen has been my favorite brunch/lunch spot for a year. There is outdoor and indoor seating, and the inside is thoughtfully decorated with art and bright tables. They have a lot of options - bagel sandwiches, quiche of the day, and omelettes for brunch and sandwiches and burgers for lunch. I love that they have baskets of their hot sauces out on the table so you can try all of them -- they are also amazing. Even when there is a line to order at the counter, it goes by quickly. Their baked goods are also great and they have a rotating selection everyday. Keep an eye out for their Saturday dinner parties as well!

Food is made fresh! Loved the lox and avocado toast. The fries were suuuuper oily and burnt, not my favorite. The smash burger was decent, very flavorful and not that beefy. Service is laid back and kind. Ambiance is casual and relaxed. Right off of Clark and Devon, this is a great place to grab a good brunch and cafe. I'll come again for sure!

Favorite brunch spot in the neighborhood, especially if you're looking for something different from the usual diner fare. Insanely good pastries with unique flavorings - pistachio/raspberry chocolate croissant was to die for recently. Bread is all homemade and the base of delicious sandwiches and toasts. Full bar with breakfast and all-day cocktails, too! We love sitting outside or at the bar and chatting with the lovely staff.

This is my go-to spot in the neighborhood for coffee, bites and desserts. It's a treasure trove for foodies - everything is fresh and thoughtfully crafted. Their food options are unique with robust flavors and ingredients (not just run-of-the-mill breakfast and lunch fare). I love that they also have different pastries for each day so you can try something new. I've had their cherry clafoutis, meringue raspberry angel food cake, lemon cake and some other desserts. Ive always been pleased. The staff is so friendly and accommodating as well. They continue to impress me with what they create. It's a little pricey, but for me, it's worth it.

I enjoyed this place but to say my expectations were exceeded is a stretch. The chicken sandwich's best attribute was the homemade part of it. This tasted like something your grandma would make you after not seeing you for awhile. The lemon pepper was slight but there. I also enjoyed the various in house made hot sauces provided at each table. My peanut butter dessert was ok. Most intriguing thing of this place was the staff told me about an open mic storytelling taking place in the evening. Sounded cool to say the least.

Troutmaster with a side of kimchi kraut and an order of french fries.

What a nice, neighborhood place to stop at after a short walk. The place is casual and the service great. While the sandwich and Troutmaster made for a good lunch, the sweet treats looked amazing! We're rushing home to taste test: caramel banana cake , almond croissant and a blueberry upside down cake.

The ube flavor is both sweet and nutty and the mousse topping was light and delicious. The main squeeze is lemon cake filled with lemon curd, cream cheese frosting, and a buttercream lemon on top. Both were incredible, but my favorite was the lemon! I loved that the lemon flavor was light, and the cream cheese frosting balanced it out really nicely. The space is so cute inside! It's also a lot larger than I was expecting. We grabbed a seat at one of the tables inside to enjoy our treats. I will definitely be back with my toddler for a cupcake date soon!

I actually don't like truffle or croissant but this was flaky, and the rock sugar (I think that's what it is?) on top is so addicting. the cream truffle filling was flavorful but not overpowering -- longanisa egg sandwich + hashbrown: 7/10 just wasn't a standout for me -- mushroom adobo: 8/10 it was flavorful - I would order again but not sure it's worth almost $20 for drinks, we both got the hot yam but my boyfriend got it iced and I got it hot -- it tasted better iced but it was still lacking in ube flavor. the coffee also didn't taste strong enough for me personally honestly I really wanted to like this place more but for almost $100 for everything and the long wait, I expected at least half of the items to be perfect but I felt like only the truffle croissant felt like a 10/10 for me I will say the staff was very sweet though -- maybe it's a better experience dining in, so I think next time I will wake up early to eat inside and hopefully be able to give a higher rating :-)

I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. Would recommend to try at least once when you're in Chicago! Glad to have stopped in.

We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after reading the reviews here, I wasn't optimistic there would be many pastries left. Maybe I should play the lottery, because luckily there was no line and a pretty good selection of pastries left. The staff were super friendly and there were so many unique flavors of baked goods. We decided to split several and opted for the blueberry cloud cookie, chai cinnamon roll, banana pudding croissant, espresso cornflake cookie, and potato focaccia. The shop was more of a small take-out operation, so we took the pastries to a nearby park to eat. Everything was absolutely divine! The group favorite was the focaccia- the creamy potatoes and cheese brought a rich flavor that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy bread. The chai roll was perfectly soft and delicately spiced, completed with that soft cream cheese frosting and gooey center we all like to see. My personal favorite was the banana pudding croissant- the dough was so crispy that I'm pretty sure others could hear the bite, and there was a generous amount of filling with fresh bananas and visible vanilla beans in the whipped cream. The espresso cookie was super soft- while I couldn't taste the espresso very clearly, I absolutely *loved* the caramel-coated cornflakes topped with sea salt. Super unique and would definitely order again. Despite their decadent appearances, none of the pastries were too sweet. Already plotting a return visit and can't recommend this shop enough!
