Clare helped us get set up with shampoo recommendations and a self-service dog wash today; she was so sweet, kind, and knowledgeable. She could tell my brother's dog Jaz was a bit antsy about getting a bath (her arch nemesis) and offered some treats to help relax her. Clare showed us to our wash station, explained what we needed to know, and gladly gave Jaz some scritches; Jaz was so happy!! She does hate baths, but adored the blow dryer. Overall, it seems like all the staff here do a wonderful job taking care of customers, keeping the store clean and organized, and providing a friendly and low-pressure environment-- an absolute MUST in this ruined economy. Jaz also got a new tug-of-war toy and is in love with it. We will definitely be bringing her back here for future bathing and product needs! read more

I did the unimaginable. I went to the pound and found a puppy that needed a home. I have a fiancé, 4 teenagers, a dog and 2 cats already so why not?! Eek Since I got home late I ran elsewhere to get basic supplies but I wanted to get a few quality items as well so I came to Pet People. The first thing I noticed was the a young man was happily carrying a large bag of foot food out for an elderly woman and still managed to stop and acknowledge us while on his way. Everyone we met inside, from employees to customers, were all the nicest people ever and take the time to love on your fur baby. The employees knew all of the dogs that came in by name. They showed us around and made recommendations for food etc. I also learned that they have a dog washing station in the back that is very handy. There is a frequent buyer dog food program that we signed up for. We will definitely be back even if it is a bit pricier than I'm used to. read more

Employees are RIDICULOUS.. im not sure if it's the company that forces them to be that way, or if they're on the spectrum.. but it's become a problem and i am in the process of trying to find my pets food somewhere else. Customer service should be genuine and kind, not annoying, fake, and invasive. I called the other day just to ask a question about a type of food, and the girl was so rude i was honestly shocked. So it's either "HI CAN I FOLLOW YOU AROUND THE STORE AND BE DOWN YOUR THROAT" or "why are you calling i don't care what you're asking me" this company needs to have district managers come in daily to understand how awful they're being. I received a sample at a Dog Days event that my older/senior dog liked. I just checked online for this brand and flavor at Hollywood Feed and it states this brand is unavailable. Was going to visit this store in Springboro to buy this dog food although, very disappointed this product is unavailable. read more

I was so grateful to find such a nice place where I could take our dog who is a 2-year-old rescue mix, GSD/Hound who is very frightened about going to the groomer! My son met me there, and between the two of us we got her washed! She wasn't crazy about it, but in the end the humans won out! :-) She looks and smells wonderful now. I was fretting earlier about where to take her since she is so nervous. We went during the day when most people were working. We got our own bath cubicle, and she couldn't get away from us! As far as quality of products, wonderful place to shop. I've been shopping here for years and have recently been so happy switching companies. We will still shop PetPeople occasionally since it's so close to the house but have chose to switch because of their "customer service" at petpeople which is a terrible excuse for them to invade your personal space, overly recommend products and loom over their shoppers. It may seem nice when the employees ask about your pets but when you learn it's part of their job to ask, it diminishes the quality of conversation immediately. On top of that the only reason they even recommend products is to "up their average daily sales numbers." Im not saying what they're doing is wrong, it's a business, but it's fake & annoying. Shopping their competitors we receive less tension from employees, lower costs at market price for items such as wet food or cat litter, and a rewards program that is actually beneficial rather than a shopping obligation like it is here. You can find the same products with no hassle for cheaper, elsewhere I promise. read more
