The only reason any sane person ends up using this joke of a service is because AAA forces them to, and clearly this is a pattern based on the reviews. The driver never identified themselves and sounded high. The dispatcher Alex was shockingly rude and completely indifferent to people in emergency situations -- you know, the literal reason we call for lockout service. 5 HOURS for a 30-minute job while they strung us along the entire time. These people are the worse PERIOD. We have been calling them and calling AAA since 9:00PM and they keep just telling us that Hollywood lock and key is who will be coming to help us. We get a text they are coming in 48 minutes and then 45 minutes into that we get another text saying that they canceled. WTF this has happened 4 times tonight. Thank you! I called every locksmith that was in the area to help generate a new door key for my 1995 Seville. Sadly 7 of those places at least never called back with their technician like they said they would. A handful of the other places made up some lame excuse why they couldn't get a door key for my car because it was too old from my understanding takes no programming for a door key but I may be wrong. They tried charging me $295 to make a duplicate key for a 2003 Toyota Camry. Con artists plain and simple.

These guys are amazing!! I had taken my car to my mechanic because the trunk wouldn't open. Neither the key, the fob nor the trunk release button was allowing me access to the trunk. My mechanic told me that they weren't able to get into the trunk and that a locksmith would be needed. Luckily, I have roadside service with AAA and they set up the call with Hollywood Lock & Key. They were fast, friendly, knowledgable and efficient . They let me know upfront how much it was going to cost before they accepted the job. Gratefully, their rate was very reasonable. They truly went above and beyond for me! They took an experience that could have been extremely cumbersome and time consuming and turned it into just a minor blimp in my day. Carlos took his time to make sure that I was well informed and happy with the job that they did. The driver, whose name escapes me, also kept me posted every step of the way. He was great! If AAA gives you this locksmith as their 3rd party request someone else. I lost my car keys and called AAA, they said Hollywood Lock & Key would be coming out. I was able to check the status through AAA's link constantly and all of a sudden it went from "in dispatch" to "cancelled". They claimed they tried reaching me and were unsuccessful. When I intercepted the call while they were leaving a "voicemail" it wasn't a person on the line. It was simply elevator music. I kept saying "hello" and no one ever answered. The "voicemail" was about 30 seconds of elevator music. They didn't bother to call a second time nor did they bother calling AAA to double check my number. I was able to find my own locksmith and I'll be able to get the partial reimbursement I get with my AAA membership after I called them back and explained the situation with their third party locksmith. Hopefully they cut ties with this company since I'm not the only one who had issues with them. read more

Overall I am satisfied bc they got the job completed. Shoutout to the technician who came out, Andres. On Sunday I lost my keys at a park early in the day, where they were getting ready to host a small concert. I wanted to get out of there asap so I called AAA who then connected me with HOLLYWOOD LOCK AND KEY. They told me they could program the new key fob on the spot, so I was elated. PRICE-wise, not so much...I mean just one key fob for $600 (for a '13 Mazda). But by then I was desperate so I bit the bullet and chose to go through with it. After 20 minutes their dispatch would text me their ETA but I ultimately waited 30 minutes from their initial 5 minutes. When the tech. came out (Andres) he started working on the issue promptly, so I was very hopeful it would be resolved in a timely manner from thereon. But for some reason my car (specifically) would not catch the frequencies after numerous tries and numerous keys he used. And after 30 minutes of failed attempts he told me that he would specifically program a key fob for my car, but it would take until the next day to get the job done. The next day we met at the same spot, and long story short he completed the job with flying colors and left me exhausted but very satisfied. He thoroughly explained to me what the problem was, what he had to do, and did so with great attention to detail. So, thanks Andres for your work and giving me back my car and freedom! read more

They overcharged dramatically for a simple repair. Last February, my ignition starter switch would not start my car while at Louise Park, playing Basketball. AAA sent me a mobile Locksmith (Hollywood Lock & Key). They did not give me a price quote before starting the work. They showed me the part that had to be replaced & later I found out I could have gotten that part for close to $60 at a local auto parts store. Their place of Business was 8.8 miles away from my location at the park (16 minutes travel time one way). They charged me $385 minus a small discount for the AAA referral. That's a HUGE extra price for Time & Labor for fixing a $60 part. read more

I was a hostage at Trader Joes in Silverlake. After I was released, the police would not allow me to take my car from the lot. 5/21/24 - Terrible Towing Co. it has very aggressive, rude and confrontative driver(s). AAA issued a service order to them and everything was going wells until the Tow Co. sent this while abusive, and rude driver, Alex Ruiz to unlock our vehicle (keys got locked inside), who simply got lost finding the address for a few minutes because he didn't enter it correctly in the GPS, and instead calling dispatch for help, he called us upset verbally harassing us, and showed up more upset (for no reason at all). He then was more confrontative instead of helping unlock the vehicle, and then continued whining and complaining, being rude and unprofessional. Finally he unlocked the car without saying a word and left. The driver was reported to his employer, the Towing Co. and to AAA to investigate the incident how he displayed and conducted himself, and his verbal abusive behavior (a serious action needs to be taken). do not use for home locks, it took the locksmith 4+ hours and he still couldn't duplicate my French door lock. I had to hire another locksmith service who was familiar with French doors and duplicated the key in less than 1 hour. I can not recommend Hollywood Lock & Key for any home locks.
