This review however, is because of how long my acrylics lasted. I usually can do 2 weeks between fills, maybe 17 days absolute max... this set from Monica lasted from June 5 to June 30! I was very excited to try this place. I got gel nails and pedicure and they looked great at first. The lady who did my nails was quite rough with pulling my hands, pinching my cuticles and scratching the sides of my nail over and over to take the excess polish off. Overall she was not kind. She also skipped the filling process of the pedicure. It was a very painful process, and I have been routinely getting mani/pedis for over 10 years. One thing I want to note is the lady made me cure my entire hand after painting EACH NAIL. So she would paint my thumb, make the entire hand cure, and switch to the other hand while we waited. This made the process not only take extremely long, but it made all my nails peel off like stickers. The edges were lifting like crazy. I had no choice but to gently pull them off and my nails were extremely damaged. I also felt uncomfortable being under the lamp well over 30 times. I understand if the employees need to have their kids in the salon, however, they were screaming and running around the entire time, which got to be very annoying as the employees would not say anything to their kids. read more

It says gel removal is $10, and I asked that lady and she took a look at my nails and asked me what kind of gel were they and I told her "polygel" and she said $10. Then she started bitching about me with her co-worker who was working next to her thinking that I didn't understand Mandarin. Two of my nails broke while i was in NYC. My go to nail techs are in California so i went to the closest place to me in the city that does acrylic nails since not many in the city still does acrylics. They charged $16 to do two acrylic nails with gel coat. It wasn't a great acrylic job, it was actually the worst looking acrylics I've ever seen with no natural shape and it wasn't smoothed down. Why do some nail techs not understand that the skin around your nails IS ATTACHED TO YOUR BODY. She went so hard with the file and buffer that the top layer of skin skin around every nail was shredded. Not bleeding (yet) but scratched up. THEN she topped it off by covering them in alcohol to cleanse which feels lovely on freshly cut skin. I left with decent nails but no less than 4 bloody cuticle spots. Most painful SNS manicure I've ever had, even after asking her to take it easy THREE times. I almost got up and left 2 times. Update: it's the following day and my cuticles still hurt. I've been to this nail salon a few times, only when I absolutely need to. Every manicure is just fine, but the atmosphere and service of my visit today has ensured it will be my last. I walked in to a crowded salon and felt as if I was bothering them with my business. I entered asking for a gel mani and regular pedi and was met with a muffled "hello" and instructions to pick a color. Everything was fine, I guess, pretty run of the mill mani/pedi. My technician used the wrong gel color on my nails for the first coat, but I kindly asked her to use the correct color for the last two coats. Problem solved, not a huge deal. After I paid and handed my technician a tip, she was visibly disappointed with my tip. It was slightly under 20%, and she made that very clear when she took the receipt, flipped it over, wrote "20%" and tapped it with her pen, expecting me to give her more money. I've never seen that sort of behavior in any tipping environments. After her mistake with the gel color and the overall experience, I was shocked. I've attempted to like this place, but it's just not working. Everything about it grosses me out, I don't think they follow standard precautions when it comes to hygiene. They re-use sandals, and it seems that they do not wash their tools, which is extremely alarming. I'm not sure if it was the lady who I got, or if they all generally half-ass their job. She was extremely rough with me, and always seemed to be in a rush. She rubbed my foot for .1 second, and called it a day. She even threw her gloves into the pedicure tub, hitting my legs, and never seemed focused. She cut my finger once too, and was forcing me to basically tip her. It worries me for the health and safety for the women that work there. I saw the other workers did a better job on the other girls there that day so I can only speak on the woman who did my nails. I got dip tip powered extensions. She did not give me a manicure but merely placed the extensions on my nails. Left my cuticles untreated, did not bother to push them back and pick out my excess peeling skin. She did not clean under my nails. She was wielding that nail filer like a chainsaw. Hurt my little fingers, broke of the extension she put on TWICE due the level of force she was using when the manicure was finished she left powder under my nails and in my nail beds.
