I drive an older car 1992 BMW and took my car here since It is a Star Certificate Smog Station. This is always quite stressful as the car needs to be tested on the dynamometer at different speeds. During the test the coolant leaked as it has been very hot here this week. Angel stopped the test and allowed my car to cool off before warming up the car again to do the test. Fortunately I passed. So glad I found them! I used a coupon and got amazing service. My battery had recently died, and I had no idea that that would erase my information. When I initially failed, the gentleman on Saturday told me how to do a drive cycle. I did all of the things and went back on Monday. Very pleased with my experience at Hollywood Smog. I arrived around noon on the Monday before Christmas. I waited about 5 minutes before they were able to service my car. The process itself took around 10 minutes. The two gentlemen were very friendly. I used the coupon from their website for $39.95 and paid the $2 fee they charge for using a debit/credit card. I had some cosmetic scratches on my car and one of the gentlemen volunteered to buff them out for free! He also put air in one of my tires that was low. I would absolutely recommend this location if you need a smog check or emissions test. read more

I came the first time on Monday (7/15) and unfortunately, I failed :( BUT Jose did not charge me and told me exactly what I needed to fix. After a quick visit to my mechanic, I returned today and Tommy attended me; Tommy was incredibly reassuring, attentive and super friendly! He needed to run my car for a few miles so it can recalibrate and thankfully, I PASSED! I was incredibly relieved and even better news, Tommy cleaned my headlights! I was getting thwarted at every turn by long lines or the shop not having a working "Star" machine required for older cars. That was until I cold called I Efrahim ine Saturday at 5:30pm. He said they don't usually smog cars on Sunday but he had another request for noon the next day and that he could accommodate me after. Sure enough, Efrahim was there in good spirits, gave a me a coupon and packed me on my merry way with certificate in hand. DMV honored the paper the next day. I went to my car smog tested at this location and it did not pass. One of the gentlemen there was kind enough to write down the codes of what was wrong so I can get them fixed and even recommended a couple of reliable mechanics. After getting the needed repairs, I brought my car back and the test was done again by the friendly attendants. My car was next in line and there is a seating area to wait. The test was done quickly, and they provided the paperwork needed for me to renew my registration. fast friendly service. was never here before but my usual smog test place said they couldn't see my cat (converter... not, my cat as in kitty kat here garfield, come out come out wherever you are...) because there was a shield over it! (i had my cat stolen before, had a shield put on after). my mechanic at affordable care (great place btw) said, my usual smog person is just being lazy (bc i called my mechanic to see if he could take off, the shield so i the smog guy COULD see the cat?)! so i broke out the interweb, yelped some nearby places and le voila... found hollywood smog check. you know there are like a dozen places all similar names, but found this one (it is BEHIND the exxon on hollywood blvd btw, it is NOT the 3 garage bays near the exxon directly on the blvd). the guy here told me he knows how to see around the shield, and hooked up the car, did the test, and i passed. and it all electronically transmits to the DMV. it was EASY. NO HASSLE. and FAST, FRIENDLY service. i was in... and out. like it was a hamburger drive through almost! well not really but u know what i mean. anyway no one likes getting a smog test. but just come here and get it done. as long as you pass, haha, you'll be on your merry little way and think, boy that was easy! easy, no nonsense, fair normal pricing (everyone charges the same), legit service. highly recommended. read more

Tommy then explained what needed to be fixed, provided me with a few recommendations for places to have it repaired, and did not charge me for the failed test the first time. He instructed me to have it repaired, drive it 100 miles, and then return. I did so, and the second time I took it in, it passed!
