I feel like I won the lotto when I found Holm Construction. They have been nothing short of extraordinary! John & Stephanie took me through the entire project with such professionalism & care, I feel truly lucky to have found them. I was going to do the roof & the deck but John told me that the roof didn't need to be completely re-done and only 1 of my 2 decks needed work. He could have just "sold" me the new roof & both decks but was honest in his evaluation of my property. His integrity is beyond reproach. I ended up replacing only my top deck and ended up doing 2 bathrooms instead (along with replacing the necessary tiles on my roof). Since I am in a HOA, John worked with the association to get the proper decking & color to comply with their guidelines. It was seamless. He replaced the top deck completely and secured everything on the 2nd deck. He made it safe & sound and good for years to come. I took 2 bathrooms down to the studs. Thank goodness I did since dry rot was found. John kept me up to date and let me know of any hiccups. As others have mentioned, he helped me with suggestions that ranged from where to look for tile, toilets, etc to helping me with suggestions for the bathrooms. He was patient when I would change my mind on things (i.e. I decided on one color for the bathrooms but it looked just awful once it was on the walls so I picked out a new color and they repainted them for me). The work of his team is extraordinary! I had wainscoting put on the walls - the tile "flows" and the gentleman who installed it is a true artist. They laid plastic on all the carpets to avoid dirt and grime to take care of the rest of the house. As I was doing this, unfortunately I had 2 floods due to the snow from this past season. He discovered it one morning and instantly went into action to drain the water from the house, find where it was coming from & got to work fixing the problem (draining the water, opening the walls, putting industrial fans in the rooms). They were both insurance issues and Holm stepped up and helped me with that too! Talking to the adjuster, getting me separate invoices for the work, etc. This unexpected fiasco could have been a nightmare!! But John came to my rescue and stepped up to help. It was completely unexpected and not in the scope of work that I had contracted with them but he had my back and I can't begin to tell you how much his efforts, help & kindness saved the day. They are busy! I did have to wait "my turn" and that took about 4 months but well worth the wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a reason they have a waiting list, their work is beyond reproach! They are up front with their pricing. Nothing is ambiguous - no hidden fees. They will bend over backwards to help their client. I feel so lucky to have come across them. I will definitely be using them again for any future projects. I can't thank John & Stephanie enough - incredible people, phenomenal work & an A+ company! We've hired Zach Holm twice so far -- once to refinish our deck, and once to build a privacy fence around our backyard -- and he's truly an artist. People we've never met before from our block have come by to introduce themselves and ask who our contractor is. His crew is professional and prompt (believe me, this is a rarity in Tahoe), his prices are fair and clearly disclosed, and his work is truly lovely. I believe it's an old Chinese proverb that "man who finish house, die," and Zach will be our first phone call the next time we have a project -- my wish list is about a mile long. read more

We found Zachery Holm on Yelp while looking for a contractor to replace our existing deck. Since he had all 5 star reviews we hired him and are happy to add another 5 star review. We cannot say enough good things about him. He was very responsive, always getting back to us right away. Because we were under a time constraint, he even hired extra helpers. This was done during the heart of the winter when that white stuff falls from the sky. After the project began, we discovered major dry rot in the deck blow and he still brought the project in on time. His estimate was accurate and fair. You should see the final product...it is beautiful. He had to access both decks through the house and he took extra care of the wood floors and carpet. When he was finished, everything was replaced as if no work had been done. Another important attribute about Zach is he is so pleasant to be around. You will take an instant like to him which is important when doing construction work. He also knows his way around the permit process, getting approvals in a timely manner. Their contract was complete in every detail and their pricing was excellent the finished product is excellent in every detail. Holm Construction has completed 3 meaningful projects for us over the past 3 years and we have been very happy with the results. Zack's work is of the highest quality, he has a great team, he charges a fair rate (not the cheapest but the best value when you factor in the quality), he is very responsive and he completes the jobs within the agreed to time frame. I especially like that he is a Tahoe local who I can completely turn the project over to given that I don't live in the area. The projects we have completed with him have ranged from adding / removing walls, flooring, lighting, windows, doors, stone work, bathroom, painting and fine trim work... he can do it all. Zack does much of the detail work himself and he has a very strong team that complements him well. We intend on working with Holm Construction in the future. read more

Detailed bid, just a bit cheaper than a few other local / Reno contractors. They spent some time before the bid looking at what the project would entail and what complications might arise. Once work started, it went quickly. Expected and unexpected complications came up, but they had good advice, options and estimates on how to handle them. I would recommend Holm Construction without hesitation. When I met Zachary Holm, I had complete confidence in him and his company, and my instincts were correct. The job (rebuilding a deck) turned out to be more complicated than anticipated do to the permitting process. Zach followed it through from beginning to end. Zach presented me with a timeline of the order things would be done, and when payment would be due - this helped with budgeting. We found Holm Construction on Yelp and they are excellent. First their quote was right on, never a single issue on billing or money. John was our contact and he showed up on time, every time. His follow up was incredible. If I texted him with a change or comment, it was done. I would want to double check but it was always already taken care of. He oversaw a complete new bathroom which required many different workmen. Everyone was a gentleman and I was comfortable spending the day with them in my home. They cleaned up everyday. We would be gone for weeks at a time and the work continued and it was perfect. The reason a bathroom took a few weeks was because of all the new projects I came up with. John and his crew were all so wonderful, we decided new lighting in the living room would be nice. They figured out how to do wiring and install a fan without ruining a pretty vaulted wood ceiling. Then we decided all new doors and trim throughout the house would be wonderful. They did this also. I would explain what I wanted and John would offer suggestions. I would say I would like a certain door based off a picture. He would get us a price on it and offer a few suggestions on other doors of different prices. His suggestions on trim and hardware were perfect and with great prices from his suppliers.
