This Nashville hotel was outstanding. From the outside, it doesn't look like anything particularly special, but once you walk inside, it's a completely different experience. The lobby is beautiful, featuring impressive chandeliers and an upscale atmosphere. The front desk staff was welcoming and provided excellent service. The rooms have been beautifully remodeled and were modern, clean, and very comfortable. The rooftop pool was fantastic, and the rooftop bar was a great place to relax after a day in the city. The location is another major advantage--it's within easy walking distance of Broadway and many of Nashville's best bars, restaurants, and entertainment. Overall, this was an excellent stay, and I would definitely recommend it. read more

Amazing location, right in the middle of town, easy walking distance to the honky tonk bars on broadway and the stadium. Tenn restaurant gets a full five stars! Loved the biscuit and gravy. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay at Holston House! Everyone at the front desk was incredibly friendly & helpful. I was able to request a record player for our room, & I browsed their very ecclectic vinyl collection in the lobby several times. We also bought a few beverages from the grab & go cooler, and appreciated the convenience. Our room was a Premium King room, upgraded from a standard 2Q & also a bit larger, and we loved it in spite of the quirky layout. We also had a minimal view but appreciated zero street noise. The love seat was comfy, and we had plenty of outlets AND trash cans. In the main bathroom, we had two substantial towel hooks (metal rods), AND the shower featured a large metal rack on the back wall to hang lots of wet items including shoes. Speaking of the bathrooms, the toilet in this room was separated from the shower, in what I called the "hall bath". This water-closet was right by the entry door to the room, and included a corner sink. The space with a giant walk-in shower was not adjacent; it was by the bed, and featured a large vanity with a second sink & a sliding door. The vanity also had a 2-sided mirror on it's own stand, so even though the bathroom lighting was mediocre, I was able to sit by the window with this mirror for better lighting. Our room didn't have a proper closet but this wasn't a big deal for me. I always bring an empty spray bottle to fill with water to de-wrinkle my clothes so the open-air clothing rack worked well for me. This piece of furniture also had a number of shelves behind a cabinet door as well as a large drawer, but I don't unpack like that. The ice bucket was an insulated stainless steel double-wall container, which was fantastic. I still had unmelted ice every morning! Interestingly, the ice was pre-bagged & stored on each floor in a small freezer at the end of the hall so you could grab a bag or two & go. No ice machine noise, but every bag was frozen solid so I had to break it up to use it. Overall, I think I like this concept! We also had a minifridge that initially didn't seem to work, but we determined it was working eventually. It had no visible settings to adjust & felt warm when we arrived, so it was confusing. We ultimately decided not to eat any of our leftovers, but our beverages did stay cooler than room temp. Just a couple of nominal critques: - We couldn't find any "do not disturb" doorhangers, and housekeeping walked in on us napping one afternoon since we hadn't used the security lock. - The rooftop pool deck was super crowded but not sure all of the saved seats were for people actively in the pool. - We really could've used an extra pillow or two, but the four we had were extra long & we made do. It was just late when we realized & never asked for more. We loved the rooftop pool but it was packed on Saturday afternoon. Luckily, the pool bar had plenty of seating until we found an open cushioned loveseat in the shade facing the pool. After that, we weren't paying attention and/or quick enough to snag any chaise lounges that became free. However, I did enjoy the curvy loungers IN the pool, in the super shallow water. I also enjoyed a few local brews from the bar throughout the afternoon. And the Broadway views from the pool & deck were fantastic! While killing time for about an hour on our last afternoon, I wandered up to the lobby bar for the first time to take some photos. Completely void of patrons, the bartender was extremely friendly & asked if I wanted to see one of the hiding spots for booze during Prohibition. OF COURSE I DID. She led me to a staircase and slid out the edge of the bottom step to reveal a hollow space with room for a few bottles of liquor. Very cool seeing that history! The location of Holston House is perfect... literally around the corner from Broadway, and less than a block away from multiple honkytonks, museums & restaurants. So close to the crazy, but far enough to be quiet & relaxing. I can't wait to plan my next visit to Holston House! read more

I'll start off this by stating that I'm a Marriott loyalist. That said, I've gotten more lax about brands based on our needs. We had a show to catch at the Ryman and well, this is literally 2-3 blocks away. How can you beat it? Well, I booked my room through Chase travel, thank you, $50 travel credit. We arrived and I had done enough recon to have a general idea of what to expect. The building is a beautiful, historic building. The layout/design can be a bit wonky. You have to go up stairs to the lobby level but then up stairs again to the bar area. The staff was nice enough although, my check in experience was very awkward. We were told we got upgraded but then she realized she misspoke. They charge a destination fee, a lot do and it's typically dependent on location, and I believe there was legislation for the businesses to explain what you're getting for the fees. Most hotels, at least in Marriott land, give you a bunch of perks and city specific things for your fee. Hyatt, appears to NOT be in the business of doing this but instead, use this as an excuse to not charge you for Wi-fi, etc. We received 2 bottled waters that cost $.14 per bottle. The Wi-Fi was not strong, at all. All for $25 that's also double taxed. They had a few other arbitrary things on the sheet. Valet is also the only option for parking here, based on location. This was also around $60+ and doubled taxed as well. We also hit up the bar on the way back after the show. Despite it being 10 minutes until closing, the first words out of the bartender's mouth was " Beer and wine only. No cocktails." This is definitely NOT the service I was expecting from such a high dollar hotel. All of that said, we didn't dislike the hotel, we slept good, their had a wonderful shower and nice toiletries. Just overall, could be better. It's a good value in certain respects and super chinchy in others. read more

A nice hotel with a bar and rooftop (sadly closed during the snowy weekend we were here). The front door/entrance is small and the front desk is all the way in towards the back. The hotel is centrally located though and was a short walk from many attractions. Our room was comfortable for our three night stay. The bathroom door is a sliding barn door which does not lock - interesting aesthetically though we found it a little impractical as there is a slight crack and doesn't seem to fully close. Had a great stay at Holston House! We booked a Standard King Room and found it clean, comfortable, and stylish. The boutique decor was thoughtfully done and really fit the vibe of the hotel--modern with just the right touch of Nashville charm (they really leaned into the Vinyl record theme with they keycards and door hangers) The rooftop pool was a nice perk, especially in the evening when we went back up to hang out and enjoy the fresh air and semi-decent views of the city. The location is hard to beat--just a short walk from Broadway, the arena, and Assembly Food Hall (Hattie B/Prince hot chicken both there). What ever you are in Nashville for, this is a super convenient spot. The staff was friendly, and we appreciated little touches like activities in the lobby and complimentary drinks during them. Check-in and checkout were smooth, though our room keys inexplicably stopped working on the second day. Minor hiccup, easily resolved. Only real gripe (and I'm nitpicking now) the main entrance is very tight coming/going from the hotel but the valets are super friendly and helped with the doors. All in all, a fun and well-located hotel with cool amenities. It's not a steal price-wise, but it delivers the experience you'd expect for the rate. Holston House has a nice boutique feel... stylish yet comfortable. The check-in staff were excellent: friendly, welcoming, and efficient, which made a great first impression. The check-out experience was fine, though not quite as attentive. Valet service was courteous and professional, just a bit on the slower side. The rooms were a good size and well-equipped with all the expected amenities. I did wish the hanging closet had doors, but otherwise the layout was convenient. I also appreciated the ice vending setup; providing ice in plastic bags was a surprisingly thoughtful and handy touch. Food options within the hotel were pretty limited, especially with the rooftop area off limits the 2 nights I was there (Sep 24-27), but what was available was decent. Overall, it's a pleasant stay if you're looking for a smaller, boutique-style hotel in Nashville. read more

10 STARS!!!!! Such a great find! I will stay here every time I am in Nashville! From the guys at the front that helped carry our luggage up the stairs to Naomi at the front desk, who was very pleasant and welcoming to the super clean beautiful rooms and fantastic location, 2 minute walk to Broadway and all the action! Beds were comfy, shampoo and conditioner. Amenities provided were great along with a hairdryer and a makeup mirror plus a closet and a full length mirror. In the lobby they had from 4-5 p.m. FREE happy hour with great records and music playing. Did not have a chance to make it up to the rooftop pool or rooftop bar, but it looked gorgeous. Super cute record shaped room keys, and do not disturb signs. The atmosphere and the theme was fantastic and an amazing experience and I would highly recommend! Fantastic restaurants, and all the popular Honky Tonk bars just minutes away. Super safe for walking. Bring your boots and your toothbrush and you are good to go! read more

We had breakfast and the coffee and food were mediocre and not what I would expect at the Hyatt restaurant. 5 out of 5 customer service from all staff. 0 out of 5 for hot tub. I didn't check out the gym but per the front desk receptionist the pool is not heated but it is indoors and there is NOT a hot tub. Whaaaat? Who doesn't have a hot tub? Terrible. 5 out of 5 for Cleanliness. Shout out to the housekeeping staff! 0 out of 5 for the Entrance/ exit. I didn't see a ramp for my rolling luggage at entering or exiting the hotel and was never offered assistance with my luggage. So I carried my bags up and down the stairs in order to enter and leave the hotel. 4 out of 5 for Size of the room. I had a standard size room with 2 queen beds. No balcony or couch/ table/ sitting area. The desk would not be a complacent sit if you are traveling for work. It make sense that the room is small since you're in a prime location right off Broadway. So I recommend a room upgrade wig you need to work and/or if you're traveling with kids. 0 out of 5 for the bathroom. The door is a sliding "barn" door that doesn't lock and doesn't stay all the way closed. 22 out of 40 is my score for the hotel. 55% So overall 3 stars. read more

Stayed here 3 times. Have enjoyed every time. Food is good. Drinks are amazing and good selections at either bar. Rooms are always comfortable and clean. Staff have always been nice. Only reason I wouldn't give the last star is the only place to smoke is on a "patio" type area around the corner of the front entrance and it's just bland with nowhere to really sit. If I could give this zero or negative stars, I would. For a "luxury" hotel, this fell fall short of that. It is not about the $25/day destination fee they charge on top of the already high rates, it is the principle that they will say you get included services such as a record player in your room/happy hour and not provide it. I also did not have service of my trash removed from my room on a daily basis. When I asked about all of this and the charges, I was told this was a "tax" and they do these extra things to offset the cost. If it is truly a tax, it would be labeled and put in a line item as such, not a "resort" fee. A fee is charged by the hotel, and not a tax done by the state or the city. Unlike other hotels, valet cannot be charged to your room and you will need to pay them separate. I was told that IF you want this to happen, it will be a back and forth between you, the valet, company, and the hotel to make this happen. As an arriving guest, we were not informed from this with any email, nor is it listed on their site. Just says "Valet Parking" as an amenity. There are plenty of other well established/reputable hotels in Nashville to stay in and I would recommend if you spend the money for this one, spend a few more and go to the Westin, Hilton, Marriott, or Renaissance. You will get a white glove treatment and transparency about your bill. read more

I visited Nashville for a quick weekend getaway and Holston House checked off all of the boxes! The hotel is centrally located and is right off Broadway in the heart of downtown, so you are just a minutes walk from all of the honky tonk fun. It's also across the street from Bridgestone arena - perfect for my weekend plans because I had tickets to a show there. The hotel itself is sleek and modern, it feels pretty new. The room is spacious and has a comfy bed. The best part about the room is the large marble shower and the delicious smelling shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Oh, and the coziest robe! There is also a bar / restaurant on the premise which was perfect for snagging a quick coffee before heading into town. Right now they have a pop up Willy Wonky bar (Wonky Bar) which looked cute. Just note that it is a ticketed experience, so plan ahead if you'd like to visit. Overall this was a quick and pleasant stay and it's a good pick if you are looking to visit Nashville and spend time around the Broadway area. Highly recommend! read more

Weekend trip to Nashville with friends. Checked in to this hotel. Very friendly staff and helpful. Practically on broadway which was great for the nightlife. Didn't try the on site food but did have some of the complimentary drinks during check in and it was very refreshing. This place is very instagramable. Liked the art deco/music themed vibe. AMAZING location! Very close to Broadway and all the Nashville night life! Beautiful hotel, great bar and. Restaurant, and nice rooms. My HUGE complaint is the fact I paid extra for a "deluxe" room only to be stuck on a corner with a view of the garbage area, the view wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't no joke the LOUDEST hotel room I've ever been in. There were trash bins slamming all night, trash trucks going in and out all night for some odd reason and a horrible nights sleep. Maybe it would be better if I wasn't on the second floor but this room sucks. Looking forward to the the next few nights of no sleep. Asked about switching rooms but they're apparently booked solid even though I saw many people leaving in the morning. I am a loyal Hyatt member, honestly I would have taken a down graded room to get me away from all the trash noise but honestly an upgrade or credit should have been offered but wasn't. A usual fan of the Hyatt brand but.... Requested a quite room...apparently that does not exist as we were given 3 different rooms neither of which was quiet. I called a week or so asking about some amenities which they said they could accommodate but upon check in, they could not. The sofa had a tear, the bathroom floor was soaked after each shower ( poor design), shower tiles were not clean, and quite a few maintenance issues I didn't expect to see at this price point. Vanity lights had a glow-like nightlight feature which could not be turned off. No room service. The staff was friendly and the proximity to downtown activities were highlights. read more

I loved my stay at the Holstein House. It was located close to all of the action on Broadway and just a short Uber ride from 12South, the Bluebird Cafe and Green Hills. The lobby is beautiful and smells heavenly. My room was spacious and clean with hardwood floors instead of icky carpet. The website pics of the rooms are accurate. The one thing I appreciated the most was the soundness of the doors and walls. I didn't hear much neighbor noise at all. The staff here are SO FRIENDLY. It's not spacious but that's not what I'm looking for in Nashville. My only complaint is that the shower temperature was hard to control due to a tricky handle. This hotel is super close to broadway, but it is away enough from all the noise so you'll get a good nights sleep. Rooms were clean and modern. I went to Nashville for a bachelorette, the concierge staff was kind and helpful. They were kind enough to book all of your rooms on the same floor. My only complaint was when we asked for extra sheets for the pull out bed from the couch they gave us a sheet that had old yellow stains and some towels that were given to us had black crusty residue. It was late so we just didn't use those items. But overall the experience at this hotel was good. read more

I received a call the night before we arrived and offered me an 'upgrade' to a King room instead of our 2 queen bed room. Not an 'upgrade' at all! Also we could not reach the hotel by phone and I tried 5+ phone numbers. We could not even reach the front desk from our room while staying in the hotel. Then we were overcharged for the room fee. Hours of phone calls and chats to try to get it reconciled. Would def not recommend due to sheer lack of customer service! read more

In Nashville for a work trip, the hotel is a short walk from the Nashville music scene on Broadway. Even closer and better was the Assembly Food Hall that looks new and upscale. A great place (see my separate review) for a multitude of dining options. The hotel has a nice funky vibe with a bunch of records sitting out and a record player. Water and lemonade is offered in the small but comfortable lounge sitting area. There's a double staircase to a bar with a very cool ceiling of old and detailed architecture. The rooms are spacious and modern with a great shower. WiFi was a bit spotty with no dedicated password so I ended up using data, thankfully unlimited. The gem of the place is the rooftop pool, bar, and seating area with five distinct couch area complete with a ceiling fan and gas fire pit to sit by, view the city and have a drink. If you stay here you must spend some time on the rooftop. read more

Another fabulous trip to Nashville and our 2nd time staying at the Holston House. From the time we checked in everyone made us feel so welcomed. When we first arrived our room wasn't ready so they held our luggage and we grabbed breakfast at TEN. That's when we met Josh who was so awesome! From that day he made our experience so special laughing with us and making sure we were set. He made such an impression on us that we had breakfast in Josh's section the next 4 days after that. Thank you Josh for making our experience so great! Another favorite place we enjoyed was the rooftop pool. Marcel and Chris were wonderful! We had some drinks that came out that we're not what we had originally ordered but still enjoyed them. Marcel was so awesome and to make sure we still got what we wanted. Then to top it all off Laszlo the food and beverage manager was amazing! He checked in on us daily at the pool and in lobby! He was always smiling and was so genuine in making sure we were fully satisfied with all the service! Wow! Just an overall wonderful experience! We were trying hotels in the area and the only thing good about this hotel is the location.... The rooms are small and remind me of a holiday inn. There's not even a luggage rack to put your bag on in the room. In the pictures it shows a robe for comfort and there also is no robe in the room. The amenities in the winter months are next to none. No pool, no hot tub, no airport shuttle, no laundry on site only dry cleaning to be sent out, and very limited room service. We actually door dashed an order to our hotel and they wouldn't let our dasher come up and the front desk wouldn't bring-it up to our room.... Like really?! We can hear soooo many other people and things going on outside of our room from inside our room as well, its SO noisy! For it to hold such a high hotel rating is beyond me!! We have one more night of being uncomfortable to dread in the hotel and it will be the last time we use this hotel. read more

Nice location but definitely not my style. Clean room and very sweet people, but for the the price they don't even offer a cup of coffee or tea for free in the morning. Extra pricey. I also longed for a water fountain or a water dispenser somewhere. Anywhere. Upon arrival a very sweet young man helped us with our luggage and we were all checked in before we knew it. We were traveling in pairs and we received a room with handicap access- although it was roomy it was not very private in the bathroom- door didn't close all the way. We made do, but kiNd of awk. Oh well. I wish the hotel had an open and well lit check in area. It's so dark and drab and very wahhhh. They have such a beautiful lobby with lovely pieces of furnitire but then you make your way back to check in and it's pretty disappointing. Good stay but not my favie. Just wish there was a few special feels- water, coffee, more services. read more

Customer service - When we first arrived a lady helped us check in who was very useful, then we went with LeAnn and she was the nicest and most helpful person ever. She took care of getting stuff fixed quick and accommodated our group with request. Location - Great location a block away from Broadway and right next to the new building on 5th and Broadway with all the great dining. Parking - We got Uber but they do have 2 parking lots near by and offer Valet. Bell boy - Very nice staff who stored our luggage, but did notice they didn't offer to bring stuff up to the room. Either way the guys are nice and quick. Rooms - Small Boutique style rooms, but well kept up, clean, good size TV and you have everything you need. Prices - A bit high but didn't realize it was Grand Prix weekend till we arrived. Pool - Lounge pool is a bit small with very few tanning chairs. Pool bar also opens up a bit late 11am in my opinion. Gym - Decent size compared to most but well kept up and has almost everything you need for a basic workout. Overall cool place and would consider it again. read more

Arrived early... did a pre-check in and stored our luggage. I "had" booked 2 king rooms (one was a premium). I had received an email from Holston House telling me I was upgraded to a 1-bedroom king suite. At the pre-check in - it was confirmed. Checked back a "few" hours later and was told my room wasn't ready cause I was upgraded. OK... FINALLY pick up keys - go to room and it's EXACTLY WHAT I BOOKED!! NO UPGRADE! I didn't ask for an upgrade - they offered... was disappointed but whatever! Then I look over the hotel printout bill I've already received - do a little math and realize I've been charged about $100 more per room. I tried to call BUT COULDN'T LIFT THE PHONE BECAUSE OF THE BOUND UP CORD! I went to the front desk to find out the issue/error and find out they've charged/put a hold on each room. I DO realize ALL HOTELS do this these days (what a scam when you have a cc#), however, I like to be informed and WAS NOT. Since I was down there I mentioned the hotel had told me on multiple occasions I was upgraded and then DIDNT DO IT! A manager overheard me and came out to discuss... she was very nice and offered the upgrade. There was NO BLOW DRYER in my room (as stated on the amenities list) and there was no trash can in the dining/living area (and other trash cans were extremely small). On the right side of the bed - NONE OF THE PLUGS WORKED! Had to call maintenance to get fixed. In my 2nd room - the AC wasn't working broken and also had to call maintenance... Garbage hotel. I travel every week for work and this place just plain stinks. The rooms are small. The price is high. Parking is $40/night for a scarce valet that parks your car immediately adjacent. Monday and Tuesday night saw loud drunks at all hours of the night. Then there was the stink. The air conditioner vent was leaking some liquid on the floor and it got progressively worse. I complained and they gave me this ozone generator that makes way too much noise to sleep or talk on the phone. The room smelled like a dead gopher on a hot day. In conclusion avoid this place unless you are a super basic chip-and-Joanna loving bachelorette party with a bad sense of smell. read more

Cute boutique hotel. Great place if you are looking for a hotel close to Broadway. Location Location Location! (We usually stay at the Renaissance next door but they were booked and this was a last minute trip) Check in: Parking option is valet or self parking across the street or in the garage next door. We self parked in the garage $20/25 a night. (Make sure you check your hotel receipt before you leave - they charged us for valet parking by accident and that cost more - but they apologized and refunded us the charge immediately) Cafe: we had breakfast twice in their little cafe downstairs - clean and unique and simple options. Bar: we went to the upstairs bar for a nightcap one night (didn't like what we ordered but that could have been us). not busy of course because we are so close to Broadway - its was quiet and quaint. We were told some famous people in the past use to frequent there for some drinks Rooms: were smaller than what we expected but then again we were there for Nashville life - not to stay in doors all day. The view we had was not ideal. We felt like we were in the basement - we were on the 2nd floor and we were facing ac vents so no view of the sky or street unfortunately. Unique room set up as the toilet had its own separate room from the other bathroom that has the shower and vanity. The toilet room has its own small vanity also. It's another way to give people privacy- but wish it came with a fan!! (lots of hotels now a days are missing them completely!). The bed wasn't as comfortable as we hoped - after the 2nd night my bf was uncomfortable but what helped is the pillow that we brought on our trip. If it's a road trip we make sure we bring our own pillow or the trip could be a total loss if his back was bothering him the whole time. Also make sure you learn the buttons for the lights in the room - took me awhile to figure out how to turn some lights on an off...good concept but not when you are a bit tipsy and just wanting to pass out in the dark Want to mention the room had the following amenities: suitcase folding stand, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, iron and stand, fridge, and free water downstairs in the lobby daily (we always grabbed a cup of water after we came back from the bars before we returned to our room. All in all the hotel was fine for what we were looking for...close walking distance to Broadway and it was clean and safe...check, check, check... PS...All of the employees at the front desk, cafe, bar and valet were extremely nice and pleasant - much appreciated! read more
