Holy Cow! I've never been a huge donut fan myself, and I often thought how silly it was that we called donuts "breakfast", when really they are more like dessert. Sure, I'd eat them occasionally but I always thought "a donut is a donut, how different can they be?" Aaaaand then I tried Holtman's. Again-- Holy. Cow. I've lived right down the street from this place for about 3 years and never made it in. We went for the first time about a week ago and I've been dreaming about returning ever since. Living so close could end up being quite dangerous. My favorites are the cake donuts. I've decided to ignore the ridiculousness of calling donuts "breakfast" if it means I get to eat these in the morning! More specifically, the blueberry donut with glaze tastes like an amazing blueberry muffin. The toasted coconut is heaven. And the chocolate cake with glaze is rich enough to split with someone. My husband liked the yeast donuts best. Classic glazed are puffy and delicious and the powdered donuts are great with coffee, albeit a bit messy. All of them had just enough sweetness to be tasty without being overwhelming. SO good. Now that I've come to terms with donuts as a breakfast food, can we classify them as lunch and dinner as well? Years ago we would get donuts from time to time from Holtman's. I am so impressed on how they have branched out with flavors and choices. I have been following them in Instagram and I finally broke down to go out there to get 1/2 dozen. I went around 730pm on weeknight and they still had great selection available. The only reason that I'm giving 3 stars, is the fact that I love shopping and contributing to local businesses. That being said, I follow this business on Instagram, and love the crazy cereal and other types of donuts that they post. My husband and I went to this location (loveland) today, and I hate to base my opinion off of one experience but it was not a good one. I initially told the woman behind the counter that it was our first time, thinking she would kind of give us the run down on flavors (since NOTHING was labeled). Which I though was odd since these are not traditional donut flavors. We asked what kind she preferred when it came to yeast donut or cake, because she didn't didn't go into detail on exactly what she meant by, "do you want yeast or cake." She said she doesn't know which one she likes in a very careless tone. We felt like we were annoying her with asking what was what, so I just picked whatever donut so we could quickly leave. I was disappointed that we drove all the way out to this location to see below average donuts (none of which are the kind that are all over their social media accounts). The workers were clearly annoyed by our 3 questions. I don't understand the hype of this shop, and will never return. read more

I went here on a weekend around 10 AM. There was a bit of a line, but worth the wait. Holtman's knows their stuff when it comes to making top notch doughnuts. They have a wide selection of them to choose from. I ordered a half dozen. The best ones out of the bunch were the maple bacon. They use real bacon when they make these not the fake shake n bake kind you get on salads. I also loved their Long Johns with cream filling. This place is definitely your stop for gourmet doughnuts. A frequent stop for our family. This place seems like it is ALWAYS OPEN. I mean, seriously, when do these people sleep!? They make their sweet creations from scratch daily and have a good variety....chocolate sprinkles, cinnamon swirls, cake donuts, glazed, twists, turnovers and all kinds of filled (custard, strawberry, apple, raspberry and lemon)....my mouth is already watering. Drove a half hour out of my way of an already long drive home to try out these donuts. I saw the pictures of all these cute delicious looking donuts. I finally get there to see only 4 different kind of regular type donuts. The whole store reeked of nauseating cigarette smoke. I still got 4 donuts because I drove all that way. This is my neighborhood doughnut shop and no matter what other places I try there's always the best. My favorite is the kettle doughnut, it's the perfect combination of sweet and crunchy. They're $2 each and worth every penny. The apple fritters are also really good, super crunchy with a thick layer of glaze. You have to go early if you want a kettle doughnut, they sell out pretty quick. Sometimes I call ahead to make sure they have them. read more

Lived in Miami Twp for years and have never had these. I was finally talked into getting them from the kids and am I glad I did. These donuts are fantastic! I was listening to the people standing in line and could tell they were all return customers (as I'm going to be from here on out). I ordered a dozen of mixed because I couldn't decide which one looked best. Each one was awesome. I still don't know which is my favorite....so I guess I have to try again.
