A recent dinner at Holy Smokes was so good. I pass the place almost everyday and wonder why I don't eat there more often. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner there a couple of days ago. The atmosphere is the typical BBQ setup. The food is the star of the show. The service was excellent as well. I had the half rack of ribs with smoked corn and slaw. Ribs were great, corn was fantastic and the slaw was ok. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese and slaw. Excellent pulled pork, good Mac and cheese and the slaw. The food was good. The service was prompt. The ambiance is ozark country store. The chef helped bring the food to the table. The ribs were fantastic falling off of the bone. The coleslaw is rich and creamy. If you like a lemon in your sweet tea just ask. I was disappointed with the macaroni and cheese, it is called smoked mac&cheese but I didn't taste the smoke. The pulled pork was a little dry for my taste but it was saved by the sauce on the table. Overall I be willing to come back and try the beans instead. read more

Service was excellent, which gave it an extra star. We ate the rib plate and the brisket plate. Both were ok but definitely not the best I have eaten. The ribs were tender but did not have a smoky flavor and the sauce choices were just ok. The corn was very dried out. And, the rolls served with it were cold and definitely not baked in-house. In town for one night and checked Yelp for ideas. BBQ sounded good especially at Holy Smoke given the good reviews. We got there a bit after five and grabbed a table. Lucky we got there that early because within 20 mins the place was almost full (on a weeknight). The servers were friendly and fast. We shared a 3 meat combo (ribs, pulled pork and mild sausage) with baked beans and potato salad. We also got one pork taco. The taco got a thumbs up from my wife. The baked beans were exceptionally good. I rated the combo in this order: sausage (tasty, juicy with a nice flavor) my favorite my far of the three items, the pulled pork (nothing special but the sauce helped), and the ribs in last place - just OK (one was almost too dry to eat). Oh the lemonade I should have sent back it was mainly tinted water with little lemon flavor. I think they need to check their machine. Prices were reasonable. Probably more like 3.5 then a 4 rating. read more

Tried this bbq yesterday with my wife and grandson. Our food came out quickly and for the most part was very good. The brisket and ribs I had were very tender and the bbq beans were good. The deviled eggs were good but a little bland.Grandson had a pulled pork wrap made with tomato and basil tortilla which he said was amazing. My wife had the smokehouse club. It was good except for the hard lettuce stems that were not edible and had to be picked out. There were five different sauces on the table and I tried three of them. They were very good. Our waitress was attentive and very polite while her initial service was excellent, she never came back and asked if our drinks needed a refill. The ambience was country bbq and pigs with gospel music played over the speakers. We found it to be very pleasant. The prices were very nice, less than $55 for three meals and a wrap to go for our son who was not with us. Overall if you want some decent bbq in a relaxed setting give Holy Smokes a try. read more

This will be our new go-to when we visit Mountain Home! It was outstanding. The best, most tender brisket all of us had ever had. The ribs, pulled pork & chicken were all very good too! The spicy bbq sauce has a nice kick to it. We also got dessert to go, the peanut butter pie & the banana cream cookie pie & both were awesome! Made in house too! The service was great, too. Had an odd experience here today. Our family orders large takeout orders from Holy Smokes multiple times a year for birthday gatherings, but this was the first time we ate inside the restaurant. For starters, I have two small children ages 1 and 4. My children are extremely picky eaters. Before getting to the restaurant, we skimmed a to-go menu we had at home and the menu they have on Facebook- neither had a kids menu or kid options. So, to ensure that my babies got fed, we stopped by a fast food restaurant to get a "safe food" for them to enjoy while the three adults in our party got to enjoy BBQ. As soon as we sat down at Holy Smokes, our waitress brought us two small plates and proceeded to tell us that EVERYTHING that was fast food related had to go (we hadn't even had the chance to get any of the food out!)... we were baffled and confused as this has never happened in four (nearly five) years of parenting and eating out (which we do very often). She made us dump all fast food on to the plates, not allowing us to leave any of the food in its original packaging, and I had to stash away drinks into our diaper bag and save for when we got back into the car. The waitress was friendly enough and proceeded to tell us it was the owner's request and that he doesn't allow food with any other "restaurant's" name on it. Now let me clarify AGAIN, this was food for my ONE YEAR OLD and FOUR YEAR OLD. And again, this has NEVER been an issue at any other restaurant in town... and we've been to them all. This experience made us extremely uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed. We won't be back just for this reason, which sucks because the food is good. But I can't support a business that I can't feed my children at. Maybe have kid menus for parents to look at beforehand if bringing outside food is such a huge deal??? Because as stated, I checked previously and could not find a kids menu anywhere. If I was able to see a kids menu to ensure my children had food they would eat, I would have never brought outside food in. read more

There are several BBQ places in the mountain home area. We prefer Holy Smokes because the food really tastes great. It's also not overly fatty or greasy. And the restaurant is clean, which is a must for us. The only downside is that they don't serve fried okra or green beans (come on, it's BBQ!). We thankfully stopped by this delicious place on a multi-state road trip. We love barbecue and this place did not disappoint!! Wow! Came here for lunch with family and we will definitely be back! This is what I would say a hole in the wall type of place....only because if you blink you will miss the entrance. (which I did). Once inside you may order at counter or sit and enjoy the meal. Our server Kristy was friendly and courteous. We ordered half rack ribs with baked potato and sweet corn on the cob, another order was with coke slaw, and another family member ordered "The boss". We pulled into the parking lot starving at 10:30am (traveling & was up early without breakfast) ready to wait till 11 for lunch. The owner was out back & told us to come on in. Super nice people & AMAZING FOOD! We are Texans & we know our bbq, this place was awesome. Seriously the best potato salad (Brent's) & perfect coleslaw. We tried jalapeño sausage, mild sausage & ribs (all great) also baked beans were tasty. Son got deviled eggs & said they didn't taste right but he's 12 & thinks he's the deviled egg master so... We came down to Arkansas for a wedding and during the reception, Holy Smokes BBQ was the caterer. Every thing I ate tasted amazing. The smoked mac and cheese tasted like it was made with thick smoked gouda and the potato salad was not too mayo-like. But of course, the most amazing part of the dinner was the ribs. They were literally fall of the bone. I couldn't even pick it up by the bone without the meat sliding right off. The food was so good, that the next day on our day home we decided that we had to stop there for lunch before heading on the road. The restaurant is pretty spacious, and even has an outdoor balcony. It will take a while for you to get used to breathing in this place because the smoky smell is overwhelming. This is seriously BBQ done right. read more
