This was by far the worst checkout experience I've ever encountered for a pickup order. It was incredibly embarrassing when the girl behind the counter not-so-subtly remarked about the tip left for the pickup order. Despite feeling pressured, we added more tip just to avoid further awkwardness. To our dismay, she proceeded to get loud with us and literally told us to leave. The lack of any apology from management or anyone else for her rude behavior was completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise against patronizing this establishment if you expect even basic courtesy. As a frequent visitor to this area (several times a year), I can confidently say that I will never set foot in this establishment again. I will say however my dog enjoyed the food. read more

Great food! This restaurant doesn't get a whole lot of attention but it is a staple on the mountain. They are almost always open (rare on Beech). We usually get our food to-go, but the inside is a very cute, charming little place. The wings are especially delicious! Their sweetpotle sauce is so tasty. The fudge is always a big hit also. The worst "bbq" I've ever had. First, they run out of brisket at 5pm on a Saturday in memorial day weekend. The only other "bbq" they even offered was pulled pork. Thats it! So we ordered that, and it was gross. Even the bun was dry and generic. Mac and cheese unimpressive. The only thing we ordered that was decent was the baked beans. How are you the only bbq joint on beech mountain and don't even offer multiple choices of actual bbq? Never been to such a limited bbq restaurant in my life. Would not recommend read more

I ate here with the group of 8 that were visiting the area for a weekend. We decided to stop here because it was close but later on we all admitted that we weren't expecting much, just based on the outside. We were ALL so pleasantly surprised that we all really enjoyed our various meals and the gorgeous view from the back deck. The line to order moved a little slowly but our food was ready SO quickly. We met the chef who not only checked on us, but also said all sauces are made in house. We were all just really impressed with whole experience. Due to the weather, we didn't want to venture too far from Beech mountain. So we decided to give this place a try. Our party had the pulled pork sandwiches, and one person had the brisket sandwich. The meat was very smokey - if you enjoy that flavor- you will love this!! I personally was not a fan- but other members of my party did. This is a joint review for White Wolf Lodge and Holy Smokes BBQ. The BBQ was simply great and their house made sauces were to die for Later I was speaking with one of the employees, who may have been a manager (I didn't catch his name) but he was extremely friendly and helpful. He guided me to the right BBQ sauce I was looking for and was very helpful all around. In addition to the great customer service already, I was curious about the how the hotel was set up and he gladly showed me around and toured me parts of the property. In this situation he was going out of his way to answer my questions which was awesome to see and receive as a customer! It was really neat to see everything and I loved the food and now Holy Smokes BBQ AND White wolf lodge will have my business in the future!! read more

I had the pleasure of stopping by this beautiful shop one morning while up in the mountains. It had been touch to get some flavor 5,000 feet up but this place hit the spot. Their pulled pork sandwich was amazing but what made it better was their wide selection of sauces. They also made it very clear that they make all the sauces in house which is quite impressive. The restaurant also seemed to be apart of mini superstore where they offer souvenirs and slingshot rentals. read more

We came down for dinner tonight because we drive by Holy Smoke's Barbecue every day (we're stay across the street) and decided to stop in. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but was I wrong! The staff couldn't have been more helpful in helping us decide what to order. We had pulled pork and barbecued sausage. The dinners were reasonably priced and amazing! They provide multiple barbecue sauces - sweet, mild and spicy - and all were exceptional on our dishes. My fiance and I are in Beech Mountain for a weekend getaway. It is our first time visiting here and we wanted some great food after having a lackluster experience the night before at an Italian restaurant. We stopped by Holy Smokes after seeing a few good reviews. We were surprised to see that it was not only a restaurant but also a gift shop and fudge shop. We decided to split a couple of items. We ordered the BBQ plate with smoked sausage, with mac and cheese and baked beans as the sides. It also came with garlic texas toast. We also ordered a "hot tater" which was a large baked potato loaded with pulled pork BBQ, cheddar, apple butter BBQ sauce and sour cream. The BBQ was flavored nicely. Tangy with strong notes of smoke. The smoked sausage was flavorful and almost buttery in texture. The Mac and cheese was also delicious while the baked beans tasted almost like canned baked beans from the grocery store. The baked potato was also fantastic, although I didn't much care for the apple butter BBQ. That's just a matter of personal preference though. The staff was extremely polite and they made sure to ask us a few times how the food was and how our experience was. The service was very quick as well. We had barely seated ourselves when the food was brought to us. Speaking of the seating, we had a WONDERFUL view from the back deck. The view of the mountains was beyond beautiful and breathtaking. Two good meals, great service and unbelievable views for under $25. That's a bargain by any measure and we are both very impressed! read more

Walked in was very lost. Didn't know where we were going. Finally found where we were supposed to order and the menu wasn't very obvious. First thing I saw when I walked to order was a kid watching weird videos very loud almost thought he was gonna take our order. Lady wasn't very happy I wouldn't be either if I was working at that cafeteria serving bad food to innocent people. We sat down and our food came 50 seconds later, saw it and immediately wanted to leave. The sausages weren't good they were watery and very flavorless. Brisket tasted horrible. tasted like a took a bite out of a chair and dipped it in bbq sauce. Coleslaw was very watery, too sweet, and had no flavor, it tasted stale, and depressing. don't even know what else we got but I don't want to remember it. Passed this place three times before stopping in, I shoulda kept driving... Pulled pork was bland a soupy, garlic bread was over done Texas toast, service was slow. They ran out of soup, told us it would be 15 min which we were willing to wait until the made more and then proceeded to sell it out again without giving us our order.
