A few weeks ago was the first time I visited the store. Would a treasure trove of everything you would need to fix or improve your home. On top of that they had barbecues, smokers, and lots of things to improve your backyard lifestyle. I'll simply say, if they don't have it then you don't need it! I believe this is part of the ACE hardware stores. They have every kind of screw or fastener. I love that this is a one stop shop for all your handyman adventures. I'm sure the trades come here. I'm not sure if this place has higher prices than Home Depot but I'm sure you will find it here. Also I believe they have similar items but a larger selection. Most of all, I walked around this store and was asked by "everyone" "Can I help you?" Ok, when was the last time you were at Home Depot or Lowe's and the staff came up to you. I routinely have to flag down the staff and they don't know anything about their products or services. Took our grandkids to their free build project this morning. It was great! Greeted at the door with free hot coffee and popcorn! The build area was all set up with tables and chairs. After picking up the pre-cut and pre-drilled lumber kit we picked a table and got to work! The wood was all cut and arranged for kids to do a quick dry assembly, use the bag of correctly counted and arranged nails to do their building. Results were great! These can be used as a tool box, Easter basket, flower basket or more. Thank you for doing this and thank you for helping kids learn the fun of building something with their own hands! It's been over 7 months to get a replacement window and still don't have it. Supposedly it was ordered but still nothing. Horrible customer service. read more

I love most all of the staff at this store. I have shopped here for my business for upwards of a year. I don't want to begin to think how much I have spent over that time. I had an issue though with a lumber purchase, and when trying to remedy the issue I was poorly treated. I had purchased about $30 in wood, and came back with a complaint that it had clearly been soaked in water and not stored properly (I came with the photos attached here, its easy to see it is water damage, cant fake that). I was under the impression that because of my continued shopping there, I would not have been given a hassle about such a small purchase. But everyone I spoke to wanted to me to bring back the wood to be "inspected", and only then could I get a REPLACEMENT. Bringing back a full sheet of wood is not easy, especially when it is moved around to the back of my house when I get home. I was not looking to lug it back to the store for the possibility, not grantee, of help. I also did not wish to get a replacement, I wanted a refund. Why? Because the wood was low quality, and I do not want to give my business to a store that would be okay selling water damaged wood and not making it easy on me to fix the issue. I don't care about the money, and I have given up on trying to fix the issue. I wrote this review on google reviews a while back, and have yet to see any amount of concern for my poor experience, which is a shame. I enjoy close to all of the staff there and would have wanted to change my review after it got acknowledged and helped. Truthfully, I would recommend shopping here if you really need to (because in small towns there are not many options) and sticking to the front half of the store if possible. However, if you buy saw blades, remove one of five from package to realize they do not fit your saw when you get home, they where never used and you tried to return them 30 minutes later and cant.... thats JUST WRONG! As a new homeowner I have been frequenting hardware supply stores and I have to say, homeco is easily the most enjoyable. Its nice to know your money is going somewhere more local than Home Cheapo, but of course this comes at a price. Its a bit more expensive and might not be the best for powertools or lumber. But if you are looking for fasteners (screws, nails, etc) Homeco cannot be beat. Wonderfully laid out, knowledgeable employees who can direct you to the right place, buy in bulk or in 1's and 2's. Best hardware and home store in town, by far! My wife and I went here a couple days ago, and one of the plumbing associates recognized us from our previous visit and asked us how our septic line replacement went. He had given us some pointers and suggestions on that prior visit, and I told him it went great and we did what he suggested. You will never get that kind of customer service at Home Depot. Speaking of Home Depot, my wife was just there today and when she asked an associate there A SIMPLE QUESTION about if they had Wood Conditioner, the associate tells her she doesn't know what my wife is talking about and states "Home Depot must not recommend doing that because I've never heard of it". She then continued to roll her eyes at my wife and act like my wife was an idiot. My wife, not wanting to deal with her attitude, told the associate to just go away. Then the lady has the nerve to say my wife made her cry to another employee, which causes another Home Depot employee to go over to where my wife was at and start to point at her and say loudly "that's her, that's the lady that made her cry", while other people were standing around in the area. After that episode at Home Depot, my wife decided to go to Home Co instead. Sure enough, she was able to get help with finding Wood Conditioner and was even given some tips on how to apply it, all within a few minutes. The level of customer service here is something you'll NEVER get at the Home Depots in Flagstaff, which tells you what the leadership of Home Depot cares about. Honestly, I don't know why in the hell Flagstaff even lets 2 Home Depots operate in town when supposedly the City Council is against large corporations taking over business. If anything they should of had Lowe's come in or worked with HomeCo to get a second store up, instead of having Home Depot put up a second store. If we were located closer to Home Co, we'd just go there all the time. But after today's vast experiences with getting help, we will probably just make the extra 15 min drive to visit Home Co, instead of Home Depot. Pros here: Veteran friendly, very clean store, customer service, awesome products, super pet friendly store, and holiday events. Suggestions: It be nice if more products in the store could be seen on the website. Also, maybe a monthly raffle might bring more customers in. read more

Now, disclaimer, it is a little bit pricier on most items than HD, but this place sells much better quality items, and, most importantly, these workers know their stuff and how to help/problem solve. The workers are available, and I've never had one who wasn't wonderfully friendly and helpful. And, ladies, as much as I wish home repair was blind to sex, it's not, but I never feel stupid when I go here and ask for help when I can barely articulate what I need. Finally, I recently bought cabinets here. And, even with all the supposed discounts and sales at HD, this place beat the pants off HD in price, and that's not even counting all of the personalized attention and fantastic customer service I got. read more

The garden tools are high quality and not the stuff that breaks after a few uses I've gotten from other stores. Also thankful they were able to supply my medical facility with Tyvek and gloves during the pandemic so we could have protective gear for our staff. I believe customer service is really important and this place is never lacking in helpful, welcoming people. It has a local feel and better quality items overall. I find the quality and price gives me more value for my money than bigger chain stores here by far. Sometimes it's just fun to walk around and see all the stuff you could possibly get for your home too lol. They typically have coffee and popcorn for shoppers which is fun. We always come here for spray paint, individual screws and bolts, keys to be copied, furnace filters, etc... All the fun and thrilling things for a home lol. If they don't have something that you especially want that's not stocked they can often order it and will call you when it arrives. I greatly prefer this over the other big chain here in town because the staff is knowledgeable and happy to help you find exactly what you need. Being a smaller store is helpful too because once you've been here and walked around you'll know exactly where to find everything and know what they have before you head over. Home Depot is often out of the one thing we go there for and here, that hasn't happened yet which is also great. Just another perk. Have been here a great number of times and it's always an enjoyable trip for whatever necessary thing we are looking for. They sometimes host amusing and helpful events as well. read more

What a great store. A breath of fresh air riddled with popcorn and or fresh baked cookies. Greeted on the way in with a knowledgeable employee that will point you in the right direction. They typically will radio to another employee that is educated in the department in which they work. I can't tell you how many times these good people have given me the proper advice on even the most complex repairs. Though it maybe be just pennies more than the big box stores, the professionalism of the staff is more valuable than a few cents! This is where you go when you have a project and you need help finding what you need and most importantly finding an expert who can help you gather all the items needed so you do not have to return a million times to get what you need done. There is always someone around to help you or find the person who can best help you. They have everything the big box guys have and more. They seem to carry some of the off the wall items that are needed for older home repair and if not they will order a part for you. I recently replaced a back sliding door in my home and sadly I started with the convenient big box store. After a lot of run around I went to HomCo and my problem was solved same day. We special ordered a door and it arrived quickly. I have learned my lesson and I will opt to stick with the little guy on my home improvement projects. read more

I was appalled when I went to HomCo and saw that there was absolutely no regard for anyone's health, customer nor employee. The greeter didn't even have a mask on! Unlike Home Depot or other retailers, there was no care to limit the amount of people who went into the store or mark lanes one way. There was no enforcement for masks for customers or staff! How can you really allow your staff not to wear masks? That is completely irresponsible! If there is a health concern, wear a face shield. I saw one older employee wearing one, and I applaud her. To top it off, I needed help with purchasing a drill and the employee I was working with could not answer my questions. I could tell he was trying his best, but he just didn't know. I have been going here for the last 8 years and have never had a bad experience until last week. I was looking for a quart of off- white paint. There were two men helping me. One of them did not understand that I wanted off-white. The other man said we cannot sell just a quart of paint and I would have to buy a gallon. I was very confused. I left the store and went to Home Depot where I usually buy my paint. They took the quart and mixed it with off-white. Simple ad that. I will not be buying paint at Homco. In the past I wanted a special blue color at Homco and had no issue getting a quart. read more

HomCo is another local business that I make sure to tell all my friends about and go there as often as I can. My dog likes to go too because like so many other awesome businesses in town, they have biscuits at the counter. I am always doing little tinkering projects that require standard stuff or weird stuff and I am never disappointed at HomCo. I come here for snow management items: salt, scrapers, shovels, sand. I come here for keys, paint, tools, garden supplies, and they have annual sales on Carhartt stuff that is fantastic. I scored an awesome Carhartt coat that I had been eyeing for a long time at 50% off during their holiday sale last year. The best part of this business is their people. Everyone who works here is very, very helpful and happy and friendly. My dog gets lots of love from them and it's always fun to stop in because of the service that you get. read more

Everytime I walk into HomeCo there is someone at the door to great you and ask if they can help you find something. I think this is something the big home improvement stores have lost. The customer service is gone and it's more of just increasing profits. If you walk around the store and an employee sees you looking, they ask if they can help. this store is not only convenient but it seems like every employee has a wealth of knowledge or knows which other guy to ask. the big box stores do have some serious inventory but I make it a habit to check here first. the owners (Bracken?) also support our community like no other retailer in town. the have special parking for veterans, a super successful "yard sale", friendly and eager employees (couple hot ones too), a soecial ladies night event, and great articles in our local Flagstaff Business News. People always complain that local companies go out of business because people shop too much at big box stores. I hear it all the time. Well, I can tell you why I will never shop at this store, and many other locally owned stores: THEY CLOSE TOO FRICKING EARLY!!! I ordered some stuff online that I need to pick up here. Website says they are open until 7pm (which is not late at all compared to TSC or Home Depot). I make a special trip there because today is the ONLY day I am available this week, and guess what? They closed at 6 pm! Middle of the week, middle of summer, and they are closed at 6 pm. What a JOKE. What kind of retail store thinks they will stay in business closing at 6 on a weekday? Do they understand their customers have to work? I sincerely hope they go out of business soon. I will give all my business to Home Depot because they at least know how to be open during normal retail business hours. I'm sorry I ever spent any of my money here, since now I can't even pick up my products for ANOTHER WEEK.
