I just bought a piece of property and I'm learning that there is a lot of things that the city requires today that they never required a long time ago. One of the most important ones was asbestos testing and Remediation if necessary. If I have asbestos according to the city of calabasas it's going to cost me a lot of money to take it out so I started looking around and I found home biotesting because of their reviews on Yelp. To be honest I really have no clue what's involved in all this testing but Oren really broke it down for me and explained it all. Basically he will test a bunch of samples send them out to a lab to test and as long as I don't have asbestos the city will let me remodel. Luckily for me I came back with no asbestos. I'm so glad I called this company. I have popcorn ceiling in my apartment, and was freaking out that I might be getting sick from it. All these Mesothelioma commercials just makes you wonder. I searched for an asbestos testing company in Woodland Hills and stumbled upon Home Biotesting. I called these guys and got a hold of Oren. He took the time to talk with me on the phone and gave me the breakdown with asbestos. Just to be safe I asked him to swing by just so I can be certain I don't have asbestos. He explained to me how the asbestos becomes friable and how we get sick from asbestos. Honestly, I do feel better having a better understanding of what is asbestos. This review is an easy 5 star. I live in tarzana and I wanted to remodel my home. I looked into doing it on my own but I was worried about the popcorn ceiling in my kids bedroom. I assumed it was probably asbestos since it is a very old home (1960 something), but my wife convinced me to double check it just in case. I did a quick search and found Home Biotesting. I figured if they are based in Tarzana I might as well give them a call. Oren answered the call and was very helpful on the phone. He came by the next day and tested my home for asbestos. He answered all the questions I had and even gave me a few laughs. Two days later I got the report and it turns out there wasn't any asbestos at all. Saved me a ton of money. I could imagine that I would get that answer no matter who I called but I'm giving home biotesting and Oren a 5 star because of his promptness. He was very friendly throughout the whole procedure and even helped us out long after the inspection. People like that deserve some credit. read more

I had to have some acoustic (popcorn) ceilings in my condo tested for asbestos, as part of a project i was doing. I found Home Biotesting on Yelp and called, and Oren (the owner/principal) took my call. He gave me some good background info re: the tests the lab would run, method of collection and was upfront about the fee (i needed testing in three areas plus an onsite visit to collect), and we were able to schedule a house visit for him to take the samples a couple of days later. The visit only lasted maybe 15 min or so, to collect his samples. Turnaround on results was pretty fast (a couple of days, allowing for a holiday that fell right after the weekend) so i knew within 48-72 hours of sample collection, what my situation was. And yes, it was 5% chrysotile asbestos, which required a professional removal - i found my own company to handle my removal, but Oren had also provided me with a written report that helped make that process a bit smoother as well, so i'm happy with the level of service i received. He also does other environmental-related testing, though i did not require those services. No hesitation to recommend. read more
