Same Day Mold Testing lives up to their name! Jason was fast, responsive, and not only did he come the same day, he showed up within an HOUR of me calling! He was awesome. We weren't sure when our walls were going to be closed up after a remediation project, and we wanted to get a mold test just to confirm that everything was mold free. Our contractor let us know the evening before we called Jason that he was going to begin closing walls the next day, so I called Jason and he was unfazed by me giving him zero notice. If you get his voicemail which instructs you to go to the website to book, it's very easy and user friendly, but I wasn't sure exactly what I needed so I left a message and he called me back in minutes. He walked me through my options and then gave me a fair price for the services I needed that was on par with other vendors I reached out to. Other vendors who weren't available same day. ;) Jason arrived quickly on a Friday, was very kind and knowledgeable and explained what he was doing, and then turned our results around by Monday so we could proceed with closing all of our walls. I hope we don't need to worry about mold in the future, but, if we do, Jason will be the first person we call! read more

A contractor told me I had mold in my insulation. After Jason came out to inspect it was clear that they thought the black part of the insulation was mold, which it is not. He ran tests in a few areas of my home and determined there was no mold or significant moisture in the air. I would not recommend this mold company. I wasted 500 dollars on tests I cannot use in court. All they care about is getting your money and do not actually give you professional advice. I clearly asked which samples would be best to take into court and they simply replied "we can do as many tests as you want" Funny because each swab costs 75 dollars not to mention an extra 25 dollars if you want it the NEXT day. They do not do same day mold testing so they should change their logo as well.. that is false advertising. This company did not check my ceilings for mold or dampness in the walls, which is where our mold was coming from. Some mold companies offer a low temperature infrared camera to detect mold which this company did not have. They only had a little device to put on the wall which goes off when close to metal.. so I don't know how that's helpful considering their are studs and metal all over the place. I have 20 foot ceilings, yes I know it's hard to reach, however, we did inform them that we had a leak in our roof prior to moving in and yet that was the only place they did not check with their instrument. We had high concentrations of mold on two of the swabs samples that came back from the lab but appetently their reccomendation to fix that issue was to do NOTHING. We had visible signs of mold growing in our toilets and on every single house plant we own. But considering their wasn't any visible signs of mold on the wall and since we didn't buy into there extra testing they put on our report to do NOTHING about the mold. When in fact we were having severe allergic reactions and breathing problems living in that apartment. Now the test and lab results are useless and I cannot sue for mold. THANKS SO MUCH same day mold testing... or better yet thanks Jason. You did a terrible job and I hope no one else gets ripped off from this lazy money grubbing company. Next time when you get a client give them REAL ADVICE. Not some nonchalant answer like "you can test as much as you want" The advice should of been: Since there is a lack of visible mold on the walls we need to do a cavity wall sample in order for the report to really come back positive. Because we knew there was already mold in the apartment we just needed to prove it! Oh and also don't come back and tell me you recommended a wall sample 13 DAYS after we FINALLY got our report back. You came out March 19th to test and we received our report April 3rd via email. By that time it was already too late for us to take another sample as we had already moved out of that apartment and it would not hold up in court. So please everybody if you got to the bottom of this review go with another mold inspector. There are plenty of mold inspector out there that will do a way better job. I've been in a pinch at my residence for a little over a year 1/2 now. Dealing with unresponsive landlords and legalities can be extremely frustrating. However, Jason was an extremely reliable and trust worthy breath of fresh air in this other wise annoying process. Upon arriving Jeremy asked for all of my concerns, made sure to address each space i pointed out and gave me several options that would best suit what i would need moving forward. I strongly recommend Same Day Mold Testing if you need to check your home for mold. A member of our household is recently immuno-suppressed due to an organ transplant so it was important for us to have reliable testing done. It was very easy to make an appointment online. Jason arrived right on time, had all of the notes/info that I entered online when making the appointment, and was very professional. I explained to him what our concerns were and he gave his opinion on what should be done, how long it would take, and what next steps might look like depending on the results. We discussed pricing over the phone, as well as it being on the website, so there were no surprises there. Jason explained what he was doing each step of the way and once the results were in he gave us a call to go over them. The report that was emailed was easy to forward to the doctor, just to make sure everything was good (spoilers: everything was good!). PLEASE SEE THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO INSTEAD: Funny how this business, rather than do the right thing (ie employ good service), will instead put in triple or quadruple the effort to defend bad (or damaging) service. Nearly 4 months later, SDMT has suddenly posted a false rebuttal here on Yelp in an attempt to defend its failed service - contradicting the verifiable facts of our transaction... In their recent "service" effort, SDMT has posted a lengthy, FALSE rebuttal to my original review. The accusations are frankly outrageous: First, SDMT alleges that my motive was not to report bad service, but to justify breaking a lease. Not only is that false, SDMT knows full well there was no lease to break. So they're knowingly posting false, libelous statements here in an effort to "clear" their own name. Ew! Will that really boost customer confidence? FACT: I'd told Jason Harris privately (via BBB) his smear campaign alleging the lease breaking "motive" was false. Not only had the lease expired 6 months prior, there was no month to month clause in the old lease either. We were literally, indeed free to walk out of the rental at any moment. The landlord actually liked us wanted us to stay! She'd recently reduced our monthly rent by $400 and told me I was a nice person and she liked me. So, there was no "dispute" to speak of, only a leakage/moisture problem in the house that she and I were working together AMICABLY to resolve. -- But SDMT, rather than handle this in a pro manner has resorted to false personal attacks in a public forum (and threatened to sue me). It seems that changing the truth is part of their standard M.O. In the first instance, their report says no visible mold (and to this day it still says that) and in the second, they've posted a Yelp rebuttal with false accusations. Second, SDMT only refers to "discolored walls" in the rebuttal. Take a good look the posted YouTube video. That's visible mold. Do your own research on how moisture damage and mold growth in drywall works. The CDC and other govt and scientific organizations warn about unseen mold inside structures when mold is visible. It means there's a leak that needs fixing. Not only did SDMT say "no visible mold" in their report but in their Yelp rebuttal they say common handyman work (i.e. painting over moldy and/or yellowing walls) is their "best" recommendation. That's not what the CDC says. It says to find and fix the LEAKS -- the source of the problem. In the construction world, that's "remediation." Stop the source of the moisture/mold and remove all visible and non-visible mold (growing inside the structure). So... apparently SDMT doesn't believe in such practices (see YouTube video and SDMT Yelp rebuttal side by side). He also states in the Yelp rebuttal that I've written more than 300 reviews (true) but states that it somehow casts a shadow on my reliability... (stating that this is "peculiar" activity.) This is of course a second personal attack but strangely in a forum where writing such reviews are rewarded with badges of merit (Elite status) and rewarded with access to private foodie parties. WTF? So any potential customer of SDMT, read these reviews well. What do you learn? These are the "corrective measures" SDMT is willing to perform if there's a mistake... Public and false smears / accusations (ie the lease breaking accusation which is 100% false) instead of a private apology and offer of a do-over (or some other appropriate remedy). ALSO PLEASE NOTE: SDMT has gotten friends or buddies with only1- 2 Yelp reviews under their belt to post 5-star reviews literally hours after this review. Coincidence? One shill review (now highlighted at top of SMDT's page) is merely editorial about the legit negative reviews. Sophisticated Yelpers know better than to take such reviews seriously. When SMDT has reviews by those with 100+ reviews on Yelp, then you know they're for real... Most companies will offer apologies and do-overs + some other accommodation when there's a complaint, but SDMT has not done that in this case. Instead they spent triple the effort in combating a legitimate complaint. Had they employed good customer service when this was originally brought to their attention you'd not be reading Jason's nasty, false accusations against former customers here like an installment of a soap opera. Dear SDMT, good drama does not equal good business... Dear potential customers: choose wisely. Let the YouTube video and SDMT's false accusations in a public setting be your guide. Is this the sort of company you want to do business with? When you have a legit complaint, how will it be addressed? Like this one? False "dirty laundry" posted for public consumption? We went with SDMT after seeing their competitive prices. Jason came to do our inspection and, while we found his demeanor off-putting, he performed the tests as asked and gave us the report we wanted after charging my credit card. We used them again for our remediation testing and were quoted a price of $450 for the testing. We agreed that, since I was a repeat costumer, he would invoice me and I would send him a check. The following business day he called me asking if I had sent the check. I told him I would as soon as I received the invoice. I soon had in my inbox an invoice for $470. After calling to ask why he was charging $20 more, he said that he CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION from the info he had before and the $20 was my credit card fee!!! When I said "how about you refund me the credit charge and I send you a check?" his response was, word for word, "how about no." His excuse for this absolutely inexcusable behavior was that he had been "burned in the past" but he should have had no reason to suspect that from me after we already had a successful transaction before. He refused to give me a refund and now is refusing to send me the report which he overcharged me for! I'm reporting this company to the BBB and disputing the charge on the card, this behavior is absolutely unforgivable. Even before this ordeal, our experience with Jason was that he was rude, difficult to speak with, and we felt like he was using scare tactics to try to get us to order more tests than were necessary with our relatively minor mold issue. Surprised to hear the bantering of offended people about this company on Yelp. Seems a bit out of place. That's the problem with reviews, either the people loved you, or hated you. Typically, those with a bone to pick talk MORE. Here's our POSITIVE story... We had Same Day Mold Testing out for an inspection and re-inspection on an SFR in Altadena recently and couldn't be happier. They were prompt, responsive, and submitted the report right away (on a weekend). Highly recommended. Their proprietor Jason was on the phone with me and the agent several time walking us through the issues, and getting our compliance issues resolved. Same day my rear end! Took advantage of my lack of knowledge about mold. Took over a week to get results, and longer to get report - stating that he had just been "really busy". Simply stated trying to deal with Jason is exhausting. I am not 100% sure he even wants to have customers. He will tell you over and over again how good he is with people and how clear his prices and practices are....they are not. After getting gauged by Jason for $695 "inspection" when we had agreed to $125 inspection fee and in his words "we will recommend samples if needed" well he failed to recommend anything just sent me a bill. Then when I questioned the charges he told me that I should have done more of my own due diligence and research and that he would gladly see me in court to defend his practices. I tried a few more times to reconcile this transaction by speaking with other companies in this industry and trying to find out common business practices all all them stated that visual tests are the 1st practice and if the visual test fails they do not take samples. Anyway I could go on and on about Jason and Same Day Mold Testing, Inc but I will just save you time and frustration as Jason would say (after I explained to him that I spoke with 4 other companies to get common practices): "Had you done that due diligence piece in the beginning you would have had 4 opportunities to hire another company. Used these guys once and was satisfied, not ready to say 'wow, what a great job.' The second time, Jason was supposedly coming but someone else came. I told him that if there was any mold it was in the attic. This is a walkin attic over my office (second unit on my property). He started into 'the attic is another $75,' then pretty much went straight into a 'you can pay me my $160 for coming out, or I can go up in the attic for $235 or I can walk around here and look for moisture for the $160.' Ended up paying him $120 (since I found them originally on AL), and he left having done nothing. Then, my girlfriend found him outside the gate trying to get back in because he hadn't asked me to sign the invoice, yes, the one that said he did nothing. I predict a future of increasingly bad experiences for the people who choose to use these guys. --- Per the owner's response: if you have so many happy customers, why is your rating on here a 3.5? (In Yelp terms, that's abysmal.)? I predicted more slide down (it was higher before). That's not going out on a limb. Oh, and I am sorry I made it so hard for you to get my money. I used same day mold testing last year and had a terrible experience. First off they were more expensive than other mold testing companies but I decided to go with them off of a recommendation on Angie's list. They offered next day turnaround at an additional fee per mold sample (I believe we had 5 samples taken - the extra fee x 5) which we agreed to pay to expedite the results. I ended up receiving the report several days later with no apology or refund of the "rush" fee for the samples. It felt like a total ripoff. The report itself was fine, but it came from a third party lab used by several different mold testing companies in the area. I chose to work with a different mold testing company for the re-testinh and they used the exact same testing lab but didn't charge extra for the rush fee. So in other words, the same quality lab testing is available at much better pricing with other mold testing vendors in the area. read more

Actions of an incompetent inspector. If you ask questions about the report you received, you will be ignored and in the end insulted for asking normal questions about the recommendations given. Whereas another company gave me thorough knowleadgable answers even though they were not even payed to do so. There are quite a few poor reviews here. There are more professional companies with better service. Then to make it even worse, Jason is the rudest person I have ever had to deal with in any areas of service. You can also see it if you read his responses here to other complaints. EDIT Here are the facts: In no way have I to him complained about the contractor's workmanship. the contractor himself had hired the first inspector and had also decided to hire Jason because he himself said the other inspector had not been legitimate.The first inspector had not within 7 days come back with results or report, and when he did, the report said that the contractor should have made a flood cut to the dry wall and put dryers etc in the room. This cut the contractor had not done and also had denied the need for dryers.The contractor was not happy so HE wanted a new inspector.I was of course not happy about finding out that a flood cut should have been done because we have just gone through a mold remediation and the contractor was rebuilding after this remediation, this was a nightmare for our sensitive family. He had not done the flood cut after the water damage. Every other professional I talked to including our insurance company said it should have been done and he had dismissed my concerns and the need to take out materials to avoid a new mold situation. Despite the situation we have ok relations with the contractor and our conversations he overheard were friendly and civil. We are like 'let's try to find a good solution for everybody. The question I tried to get an answer for during the inspection is that Jason said he could not give a 100% answer if the floor that flooded is ok using his methods. I was not complaining, I was trying to get an answer to what should we do to make sure. He never answered not there nor later in an email.He gets defensive when he doesn't know the answer. Otherwise I hardly spoke to him during the inspection. Jason's report is unprofessional and vague. In the report he says it is adequate to DIY remediate. He himself now says that his recommendations are 'to do whatever I want' What is the purpose of a report with an action plan that says is 'to do whatever I want' This report the contractor is now using to say he is going to remediate himself. The DIY instructions do not include a word about using a containment during remediation. REDFLAG.I consulted a GREAT inspector we have previously used with the lab results from Jason.The inspector is the most certified I have come upon. He said that the lab counts are actually relatively high. Also, there is no way to know, and actually it is likely, that damage is larger than the 10sq ft Jason says in the report given the sequence of events. The pro inspector says we absolutely cannot DIY (he is not from a remediation company) Contrary to what Jason is assuming about what answers I would like, I do not want more drama than necessary in the house. For me the best outcome would have been that it is sufficient for the contractor to fix himself. Why would I want to pay another remediation and at best 2500$ deductible to the insurance company. I just would have wanted more answers to normal questions to make sure that it is adequate since we have according to Jason's lab report eg Chaetomium in the house now. Which is a potentially dangerous mold and does not typically show up well in air testing because it becomes airborne after it dries up. So even small amounts can be worrying, and remediation without proper containment will make the problem spread to the rest of the house because it becomes airborne after it dries. We have very sensitive kids in the house and this mold can have permanent serious health effects. I asked a few questions about his DIY recommendation to make sure it is adequate ;the report was so vague and was missing key points compared to reports from other companies) He just plainly wrote 'I am not going to answer these questions. Everything is in the report.' I suspect he knows nothing about how different species of mold behave and that is why he is the first inspector that is not happy to answer questions. The report is not professional and his recommendation on the DIY is dangerous as most people who don't have the previous experience with other companies and mold that (unfortunately)I have, might take this recommendation seriously. I would have loved for him to be right to save us the trouble of doing the whole remediation again. Please be advised that there are better professionals that are also good people. No service provider has insulted me like Jason did on top of the bad service. read more

When one of my tenant's complained of a mold smell in their rental, I called Same Day Mold Testing. I chose them, one, because they are FAST but two, because they do NOT do remediation. You don't want to use a testing company that also does remediation because if they find mold, they also find themselves a lucrative remediation gig. So the most important thing for me was to find a company that wasn't subject to a conflict of interest and Same Day Mold Testing met that criteria. These guys have integrity big time. OK - so it turned out I had mold. And my tenant was going crazy on me - even threatening legal action. I was freaking out and the thought of mold seemed INSURMOUNTABLE. I was literally losing sleep over this. Yet the guys at Same Day Mold were AWESOME. They were professional, they got me my lab results quickly, they explained the results to me in a way that I could understand, and advised me how to fix the problem in the quickest and most cost effective way. I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! I wouldn't wish a mold problem on anyone but, after working with Same Day Mold Testing, it really doesn't have to be such an ordeal at all. I have only written a couple reviews on yelp in the past, but felt compelled in this instance based on some of the negative reviews I've read about same day mold testing. My wife and i are in the process of buying a condo and though that there may be a mold issue. Since the onus is on the buyer to investigate, we called same day mold testing. I call this past Sunday. Not only did Jason take the call, he came out to the unit later that day. We had originally said 3pm, but we kept it tentative. Jason knew he couldn't make the 3pm apt, so he called me and let me know. That's great customer service. When Jason did arrive, he couldn't have been more courteous or thorough. I just stayed out of his way and let him do his work. When he was done, we talked about what should be done and went from there. He was honest about the money and honest about the turnaround time for the results. Although the results weren't supposed to be delivered till Tuesday, Jason called me on Monday night and told me the news. Thankfully there was no mold and i received the report early Tuesday morning. I can't attest to the service that the others received from same day mold testing, but I can tell you that my experience with Jason and the company was fantastic.
