There are plenty of tables inside though. Everything looked clean and neat. So many options! I decided to order a chocolate cookie so I could easily compare the taste with other cookies I've had in the past. The taste was fine, but the cookie lacked a clear identity. It was missing something. It took me awhile to figure out what though. This cookie needs to be paired with coffee. It would have been perfect if I would have ordered a cup of joe! Instead of coffee cake, this is a coffee cookie. I wouldn't order this cookie again unless I ordered coffee as well. I did order a s'mores brownie too. This was phenomenal! This was a winner! Next time I will come sit for a while instead of grabbing treats and rushing off. Maybe I'll invite a friend to sit and chat. I'll definitely order coffee with my treats when I return. They greet you upon entering the cafe with a smile. The selection of coffees and things to snack on is always super, with specials related to the time of the year. The Coffee Lodge provides a quiet spot for someone to bring a laptop and study or work. It has comfortable seating for people to enjoy the coffee and the food. There are also many things to purchase from local artisans from jewelry to clothing. Overall this is one of my favorite places to get coffee around. For its convenience, the best coffee, and the variety of seating and places to shop within the lodge, I give the Coffee Lodge a definite 5-Stars! I would go there with friends or family to enjoy a morning or afternoon coffee. I would go there to take my laptop and work for a while in a secluded corner while enjoying some delicious coffee. I would go there to shop for gifts to purchase locally made things. So many reasons I would go there, but the number one reason is for their delicious coffee! It stands out above the rest. I love getting it to go on the way to work or I love getting it to sit there with friends and chat in the morning away. No matter what I highly encourage you to visit the coffee lodge. And beware you may go there for a 15 minute chat and find yourself there for two hours. It is just that comfortable!

I honestly may have never stumbled upon it otherwise because it's located underneath apartments in Belmont. It was a little hard to find but once you get in the area you can see it pretty clearly. I ordered a very delicious cranberry apple cider. It was tart, hot and perfect for this cold rainy day. They had some really cute seating and seasonal drinks. I could see this being a fun place to work or meetup with friends to catch up. The service was great too, everyone was kind and helpful. Very cute lil spot! Gotta come back and try their coffee!!

I usually stop here either on my way to Asheville, it breaks up the ride nicely, or before climbing at Bigfoot Climbing gym. I have gotten both the Poe and the Hemingway lattes and they are delicious! I've also had some of the dessert pastries from Ugly Duckling - the mocha espresso cookie and the cheddar bacon scone. These treats are tasty and perfect snacking size. The interior of this store is very cozy and there are endless reading nooks throughout the space. The first time I enjoyed my coffee and snack outside but this past weekend, I sat upstairs. Both times have been very enjoyable - one minor note, they closed early on Sunday, at noon instead of 3pm, to prepare holiday decorations. Unfortunately, I arrived at 11:30am so I didn't get to stay and read as long as I originally planned. Wish they would have posted on their social media (I looked them up on Instagram before visiting again)! Other than that little hiccup, this is a must-visit in Morganton!
