Reliable, friendly and professional. I reserved a ride from Home James solely by the good recommendations on Yelp. I made my reservation via email. They were very responsive when I was making the reservation and the driver was on time when we were ready for pick up at the airport. During our small talk from the airport to down town, we mentioned that this was my wife's first visit to Chicago. The driver gave us a impromptu tour around the down town area prior to dropping us off at our hotel. He even drove us by Wrigley field and suggested several good restaurants for us to try during our stay. For our wedding day I went to Yelp to see what limo services to use and I am glad I did. Home James' pricing was some of the best I found. I was a little concerned with how they approached the paperwork as I expected more, but they are just laid back. Things went swimmingly. The drivers were prompt and super friendly and willing to work with us particularly on the photo taking end of things. This is something that I think can be taken for granted but working in logistics I know it is a lot harder than one might think. My wife and I used Home James on a recent trip to Chicago. Reservations were smooth and they even sent an email confirmation so we knew for sure that our information and pickup times were correct. Our flight was late arriving and when I called to let them know, they told me not to worry because they were tracking my flight and would adjust their pickup time accordingly. Sal picked us up promptly when we landed at Midway airport and got us downtown to our hotel in a quick and timely fashion. The return trip to the airport went equally well. I learned about this company through Groupon and booked a limo instead of a cab from the North Side to Midway. The woman on the phone was delightful and efficient , send an email verification for the certificate, the reservation and receipts for tip as I was on a business trip. Sal got us to Midway more quickly than I had expected in a comfortable air conditioned car with a number of customer amenities. Our flight back was delayed, but they had it under control. Tyrone was charming and conscientious about the most efficient way to get us to the north side. My friend's front porch light was out, so he watched her until she got in the house and turned on the lights as he was concerned about the dark. A lot of drivers would not do the same. I highly recommend and will use it again myself next time I travel. read more

The first time I used Home James was a true pleasure. I found them from the yelp deals and was pleasantly surprised by the personal service I received both when scheduling and being picked-up. I was fortunate to have the owner pick me up and he indicated I was the first yelp deal customer, so I felt special for a brief moment. When I returned my flight was delayed several hours and they were more than accommodating when I called them. They were right there, picking me up at 2:30 in the morning when I arrived. We used Home James Chicago three days ago to go to O'hare (flying internationally). We called 48 hs in advance and had a Yelp deal for $30 (which looked like a good deal). We asked for the car to pick us up at 11.45am. At 11.50am I get a call saying the car is 8-10 late and should be at our place at 11.55 at the latest. Reason: there is a lot of traffic due to lollapalooza and the Cubs game. Fine. I thought they should know this kind of stuff (being a car service company) but fine, it made sense: the car is coming from the south and run into traffic in downtown. No idea how the Cubs game is related. At 11.55 the car is not at our place so I call. They tell me the car is very close. Okay. I wait. At 12.05 I call again saying that I want to know the exact location of the car. They tell me is on N Lake Shore and Foster (which is exactly 4 min away from where we live - I drive there everyday so I know exactly how long it takes). Okay. I wait. The car finally arrived at 12.17pm. This is *32 minutes* late. Also, it is clear the car was not on Lake Shore and Foster at 12.05 and in addition, it is not clear how Lollapalooza created traffic for a car coming from the north suburbs of Chicago rather than from the south. Finally, from our place to O'hare traffic was absolutely normal : usual traffic for a Friday. I paid the same I would have paid for a taxi, got a car that was marginally better, got incorrect information over the phone, and got to the airport 30 minutes later than I wanted to. I'm just glad I did not pay $60. I'm not using Home James Chicago ever again and I will make sure none of my friend do either. read more

Wouldn't trust. I called multiple times leading up to my wedding reception to get price quotes, get information on the limos themselves, and check availability. First time I called, Price was quoted for a 8 to 10 seat streatch limo at $125 pick up and $150 drop-off (because it was late at night) + 20% tip. Second time I called, Price was quoted at $150 each way, and if I wanted an extra hour of buffer it would be an additional $150 so total $450 before tip. I figured on the second occasion, okay maybe price is slightly more because it's getting closer to the venue. No prob, the guy said call at least 7 days prior and I would be fine. I called today and the price was $600. 4 Hour minimum was added which I don't at all need. Phone rep alleges that they don't have any of the prior payment plans even though I thoroughly kept notes after each call and have the call logs showing I called each week prior to this recent call. They're shysters, beware of what they are charging you and realize that the price you're quoted is not firm and may change at their whim. I'm always amazed at how businesses can run this way. Ended up booking with Elite Chicago with pleasant customer service and at $115 flat rate each way. read more

I had a 6:00 am flight so I wanted to be sure that I made it on time with no stress (I hate being late for flights!). I booked a 4:30 downtown pickup and the driver was supposed to send me a text around 10 minutes ahead with the contact info. Instead of this happening I had to call at 4:30 to find out what the heck was going on as no one had arrived. The lady that answered the phone said the driver would be there in a few minutes and hoped I didn't miss my flight. Once it got to 4:40 I called back again and asked if I could just cancel the car as a cab was sitting in front of my building. The guy basically refused and said that the driver would be there shortly (he did arrive shortly thereafter). To note the car was very nice and clean. I can see how if things were on time this could be a good experience. When I asked about a discount he said I should call back when I get to the airport to see if I missed my flight first vs. just giving me an on the spot discount. When the driver did finally arrive he said it was because he had been pulled over - which leads me to believe that he was running late in the first place. If I want to have the stress of a crazy ride to the airport I can take the Blue Line or a cab off the street. The fact that I had to track down what was happening was not acceptable. After I did reach my destination I called the company a 3rd time at which I was given a $28 discount on the $78 ride. I do appreciate the monetary discount which moves this from 1 star to 2 stars. read more

Would never even think about even trying this service again. I see all of these supposed amazing reviews so I decide to book a car for the airport for a Saturday morning. Had a 630a flight through Houston on way to Mexico so needed a 5a pickup. Called and made the reservation and even got an email confirmation confirming the 5 AM pickup. Comes Saturday and 510a no car. I call the number and get some half asleep, hungover asshole who says "oh I had you down for 5pm I can have a car there in 35 minutes." Absolutely and totally uncalled for and very unprofessional. Meanwhile I have to roam the streets at 515a on a Saturday to find a cab... the very reason I tried to book a car in the first place. Awful service. If you want a reliable, professional company look elsewhere. They tried to offer me a "comp ride" for the trouble. Like I'd trust them to pick me up. read more

The car was on time for the initial pick up, but I was disappointed to see a Mercury Grand Marquis instead of a Lincoln Town Car like the company's photos depict and as most car services use. The driver was neither polite nor friendly. If fact, he didn't even great me. He simply picked up my bags and got back in the car. As for the ride home from the airport, the service was lousy. I called from Miami 4-hours before arriving at ORD to confirm the pick up time, but was surprised to find that the dispatcher had the wrong pick up location on my reservation. I had received an e-mail confirmation two weeks earlier, at the time of booking the reservation, that was correct. He assured me that problem would be corrected. When I arrived at ORD, there was no car. Upon calling the company again, I was advised that the car was waiting at the wrong pick up location. I was then told a car would be there within 5-minutes. About 25-minutes later, a car did arrive. Again, it was a Mercury Grand Marquis with the same impolite driver. Needless to say, I won't use the service again. A great price isn't worthwhile if the company's reservationalists and drivers can't communicate and get times and locations correct. read more

Do not use this service! I have never experienced worse service from a driver (cab or car service) than I did from Home James. The driver was scheduled to pick us up from O'Hare when our flight got in (driver had flight number and schedule and our flight was on time). After claiming our bags and waiting 15 minutes the driver had still not arrived. I called the service and was told it would be another 15 minutes, our driver finally arrived after we'd been waiting for almost 45 minutes. I can forgive being late, traffic happens, but the driver was extremely rude. We asked that he drop off my wife at the store on the way home and he refused! He said he was under a time crunch and needed to get back to the airport. We had to literally argue with our driver to take us where we needed to go. He basically yelled at us and told us we couldn't go where we requested. This service was atrocious, when he finally dropped us off he popped the truck dropped our luggage in the street and drove off. There are plenty of car services in Chicago, I would highly recommend you choose one that is not Home James. read more

Well, I must say I'm less enthusiastic than the others who have left reviews for this place. My family and I planned a ride to O'hare at 6 am the day before Christmas Eve. Now I'm not a morning person, so I can understand being a little grumpy, but out of my family of 4, not one of us got a "good morning" or anything spoken to us.. not a word. Now, since this was a special occassion for my parents, we ordered a limo expecting to get at least a reasonable person to drive us to the airport... I'm not expecting jovial... but when my mother asked which door she should go into, the guy rolled his eyes, opened the door and walked away.... I was like, "wow"... just awful... who would do that... not even a decent gentleman who is not doing this for a living could muster up better manners than that! He should have opened the door before she asked anyway. The drive to the airport was uneventful, and he finally speaks a word when we pay him the $100, "have a nice trip".... On the way back... the new guy was a little better... at least he spoke.. but the dispatcher on the phone had us waiting out in the cold for 20+ saying that he would be there in 8 minutes when it was really closer to 30... but in all honesty... I was just glad he spoke... just common decency, ya know... but at the end of the trip, they gave me a different price than what I was quoted on the phone... it was quickly resolved... but I think it helps to carry cash... he kept asking for a credit card... and I kept telling him that I had cash... then the price went up to $120 something... and I'm telling him that I was quoted $94 including tip over the phone... just bring cash... that's all I'm suggesting. Will I use this group again... I don't know... Will I recommend them... probably not... I'm sure I'll find another company who doesn't miind servicing us Hyde Park folks. read more
