Once the unit was ready, Elizabeth personally staged the unit with the most tasteful and perfect furniture (Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, etc..) and worked with her photographer to capture the unit in it's best lighting. We could not have gotten to closing and without our realtors, Elizabeth and Tara. They were so efficient, prompt, and truly had our best interests in mind in all that they did. You can waste your time exploring other real estate agencies, however for your South Boston real estate needs, look no further than Seaport Realty Group - truly the best in the business!

And despite that fact that realtors are supposed to be there to help you (why else am I paying them $2000?) most of them seem to be there solely to sell sell sell, no concern with actually helping YOU find what YOU'RE looking for. When it last came time to move, we were staying in Southie, but needed a new place. Years of a falling apart apartment, creepy neighbors, and random infestations led to a very specific criteria: We wanted newish, we wanted nice, and we wanted to be proud of our home. After browsing a few places that we'd found on Craigslist, we stumbled upon Sarah who immediately took us under her wing. She took the time to talk to us, asking more questions than any realtor I'd ever worked with. When we had finished looking at the first apartment, we got back in the car and she asked us to detail exactly what we liked and didn't like. She took notes and told us not to think that we were asking for more than was realistic (a dishwasher and a washer/dryer please!). After that, she was able to really get what we were looking for, and vowed not to waste our time or hers looking at places we'd have no interest in. Every place we looked at was fantastic, in our price range, and matched our criteria (even when the list started to get longer and longer!) The best part was there was none of the typical sales pitch bullshit. She answered our questions honestly, didn't make vague promises just to get us to sign, and, this is the best part, didn't try to pretend that a one bedroom was really a two bedroom (no lie, we had a realtor tell us that one place was a two bedroom because we could use the living room as a bedroom and put the couch in the kitchen. This was said completely deadpan). So if you're looking for a place in South Boston, look no further than Seaport Realty. And once there, ask for Sarah. If she's even half as effective as she was for us, you'll be in your new dream place faster than you can say "first, last, security".

It was August first this past summer when my wife and I decided we'd had enough of the sleepy suburbs and were ready to reconnect with the city we loved and spent most of our free time. Panic stricken, not prepared for such a quick sale, I contacted Carmela (I met her a year prior at an open house, liked her style and did some research on her and her company) and asked if we could meet as soon as possible. Long story short, she recommended that we look into short term lease options while we took our time finding our dream home. We followed her advice and wound up renting at Park Lane in the Seaport District-great place that deserves two thumbs up- on a short term three month lease that could have been extended if needed. We didn't need to.... Carmela sat my wife and I down at our initial meeting and listened as we described to her our 'must have' list in our soon to be dream home. Fast forward, we waited until after Labor Day to start our search as we needed time to pack up the old house and move into Park Lane....Carmela wasted no time finding four properties that met our requirements...........we bought the first home we were shown. We new it was to be as soon as we walked into the front door. She nailed it! Amazing! I thought we'd be looking for months as our criteria was not going to be an easy task for her to accomplish. The story continues.....I asked if she could recommend a mortgage broker..she said "I've got the best...Paul Sapienza of Drew Mortgage Associates"....he was dynamite! I also asked her if she could recommend a real estate attorney...she did, John Iacoi....a complete professional that made the headaches of real estate passing simplistic for both my wife and I that are just way too busy to be tied down to legal jargon. ***Do I add her recommended designer, painter and contractor? YOU BET!!! 5 star businesses have customer satisfaction down to a science, Carmela and her team get it and most importantly follow through....I could not have been more satisfied. My email that I sent her and her associates as we finished passing the papers read as follows: "Your high level of professionalism throughout this entire process was greatly appreciated. Together, you're quite a team!" Take my word, if you're looking for a new home along Boston's Waterfront, in my opinion, the only choice is Carmela's CL Waterfront Properties.

I went home and submitted an inquiry on their website. It was a Sunday night, so I wasn't expecting a response until at least Monday morning. To my delight, Carmela responded almost immediately and put us in touch with Chris Smith on the team. Chris scheduled an appointment with us to see our property of interest immediately. From there, we worked with Chris to see more properties in the North End. Chris was always very responsive and quick to set up appointments on our behalf. He was always very knowledgeable on all of the properties we viewed (and we ask a LOT of questions)! Although I was regularly searching Redfin and receiving daily alerts, Chris was a powerful 'secret weapon' proactively emailing us properties that fit our criteria. This extra research on our behalf was a real bonus, as the listings/photos don't always tell the full story. Searching for real estate in Boston can be a frustrating process and finding a responsive broker can be challenging (especially in this market!). We've been looking for an apartment in the Somerville area for about 1.5 months and were getting no…read moreresponses from properties and brokers. We were becoming tired of the whole run around process and never hearing back, especially because we had what most brokers tried to push as a lower price point saying nothing was available in the area for that much. (We currently lived in a place less than what we wanted). While taking a stroll in another neighborhood in Somerville, we randomly pulled up the Zillow app and found out the location we were standing right in front of had a new unit available in the same time frame and price point we were looking for. It actually seemed too good to be true. We called right away and Ranjita got back to us immediately. We rattled off the list of questions we had about the place and she was able to give us answers right away and she promised to get back to us about the answers she didn't (which she did that night). I'm the paranoid one of the two and had /many/ more questions. It's crazy to think we were going to sign a lease at a new apartment we had never been to (thus is the times of covid and my fear of scams was elevated). Ranjita returned with more pictures and a great video walk-through. I was still nervous. She happily provided me with proof of identification and broker's license. She gave us the option to pay by credit card which made me feel safer about my personal funds. She got us the lease working with property management. This always takes time as the broker acts as the go-between and she did her best to get us the papers we needed. When I had a few questions or asked if we could change items on the lease, she listened, was helpful, and reassured me I wasn't annoying her with so many questions (I probably was, but she was nice enough to act like I wasn't ha). She was able to get us in to view the apartment after the previous tenants move out, so at least we were able to see it before move-in day. Quick process overall. Very responsive to emails. Easier than we thought it would be.

Ranjita then ignored my email requesting the refund. We applied to the unit in part because it said "cats allowed" in all online listings (see photo attached for example). We were upfront throughout the process that we were about to get a cat. During the showing, a no-pet policy was never mentioned. We were encouraged to apply, and then after we paid the application fee, all of a sudden we were told that the owner of the unit would not consider any pets and the listings were then all updated to "cats not allowed," which seems very misleading. At its worst, it is a malicious "bait and switch" strategy... at its best it's very negligent and disorganized. Just be careful when applying. We were referred to Cambridge Premier Realty by a friend, but we will not be referring them to other friends of ours.

As renters, we had to deal with one of their agents Sarah Martin, as she was showing our apartment…read moreto potential renters. She is rude, unprofessional, and I suspect she lied to us. She kept telling me that she couldn't contact me using my phone number, but I was able to contact and be contacted by everyone else. We had three visits with her. Because we have a cat in the apartment, we wanted to be there during the visit, which is not a huge requirement. She agreed to it prior. The first visit went ok, although she arrived 5 minutes early and somehow left before coming back, and did not give us a 24h notice. During the second visit, she said she could not receive my messages and supposedly I did not receive hers. She warned my partner 5 minutes before the visit, and I arrived while they were still visiting the apartment. I asked to sort out her problem contacting me but she said she didn't have time. I gave her my email, that she used to book the third visit, again with less than 24 hours notice. For the first visit, she arrived earlier than announced, and finished the visit before I came, all without contacting me to mention she was there. I waited for 20 minutes at the apartment after contacting her by email before receiving a message saying they had already left. No apologies, nothing. She told my partner I didn't have to be there during the visit. Overall she gave me the impression that she didn't want us to be there during the visit and was trying to be sneaky about it, instead of telling us. The two stars instead of 1 is because her manager made her stop the visits at our apartment after I contacted him. He didn't apologize in any way though, so I'm being nice here. We had no issues with the other real estate companies that showed our apartment. If I was you I would not use their agency, there are plenty of good ones around.
