He'd worked with one of our friends previously, and so we knew he'd do a great job for our project. We also loved Greenberg's integrated approach. The architect, constructions, design and management was all done by Greenberg. This meant that the project from top to bottom was aligned with the team actually doing the construction work. My top priorities were 1) a modern home design 2) a job done with high quality 3) low stress. Ohad / Greenberg helped deliver on all of these aspects in spades. The last thing I wanted to do was have to coordinate with flaky contractors, have to re-do low quality work after a long day at work. Ohad kept the project on track and handled all the hassle of dealing with subcontractors & inspectors. Greenberg probably won't be the cheapest contractor you'll talk to, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for. Quality work, up to code, and no drama is well worth the cost. Ohad worked with us throughout the project to consider different budget options, and gave candid advice about where he thought the budget would be best spent. Overall, highly recommend. I was referred by a friend and have put multiple friends in touch with Greenberg for their projects as well. One of the biggest highlights was the design process; their team curated high-quality material options based on my vision board, saving me from the overwhelming experience of wandering through massive showrooms. When I visited the Greenberg showroom, the team presented their design with all my samples ready to view in-person. The logistical side was equally impressive. They handled the entire San Mateo permitting process. Once construction began, Ohad and I stayed in constant contact via text and phone to address any issues or decisions that needed to be made. He also kept me up to date with many photos of the construction. Everyone warned me that a project like this would take well over a year and go way over budget, but Greenberg completed construction in just 10 months and kept change orders to a minimum. I had such confidence in Ohad's attention to detail that I didn't even visit the site until the project was almost finished. The result is a total transformation that maximizes every square foot of my home without the need for a massive addition. The suspicion was that it was from the chimney and I hired Zack and team to replace the trim around it. When they came, they went above and beyond to pinpoint the exact location it's coming from by going on the roof with a hose and opening up light fixtures from the living room to take pictures inside. They were able to find the exact spot and seal it as well as replacing all the rotten wood we had around the chimney. Finally no more pots and pans for us! We are very grateful for the hard work and the dedication that they put into solving our issue. The pricing was very fair as well. They were able to make a normally very stressful process almost stress-free, so much so that all I had to do was say "yes or no" when it came to key decisions. The Construction & More team took lead in the painful parts of dealing with permitting, PG&E, and subcontractors. They also got us in contact with their preferred vendors to help us with discounts on appliances, finishes and other materials we needed to purchase out of pocket. Overall, I found the Construction & More team extremely professional, transparent, organized, communicative and punctual when it came to the end-to-end process. They truly helped guide us through the process so we didn't have any surprises and helped us navigate any hiccups that came up. Normally, construction companies get a bad rap of being dishonest and trying to add in hidden fees and such, but Construction & More is a truly forthcoming and hardworking group of contractors who have your best interest at heart when it comes to your project no matter how big or small. For the process itself, we began with a consultation at our home to walk through the work we wanted the Construction & More team to do. For us, it was a full renovation which included removing a kitchen wall to create an open concept kitchen & living room, adding a mud room, expanding the master bedroom, moving the front and garage doors, as well as moving the ceilings to create a more open space. After the consultation was completed, we met with Avi & Joseph at their office to discuss an estimate and timeline for the work we needed done about (6-months time, pending no delays). Avi & Joseph respected our budget and were upfront and honest of how to stay within the budget and what were non-negotiables that we needed to get done. They really helped us understand what work was critical and what were nice to have to make our living space better. Once we agreed on the work, they promptly sent over a contract for signature, created a whatsapp group for real time communication, and next steps. Overall this initial process took about a week after negotiations and contract reviews. Once construction began, the team coordinated all the work. They made sure that all moving parts were well executed while setting a realistic timeline for the work to be done. All the subcontractors and tradesmen were effectively scheduled, where there wasn't a single day where there was no work being done. I felt that the team ensured that the construction was moving swiftly and the crew was respectful of our space. The crew made sure that our home was properly locked up and cleaned up after each day's work. Additionally, all the detailed finishing work was measured and completed with precision, where all the tiles placed were measured with a laser. As a bonus, the crew was also super respectful to our neighbors which is an extra plus! If you're considering a renovation of any size, but especially a full home renovation, I could not rave more about Construction & More. Our latest and third project with IKB was completed during the COVID-19 pandemic…read more IKB built a guest bathroom, (this house never had one before), a new master closet, and sliding barn doors added to our living room making it into an optional guest room, new overhead lighting, a fireplace insert, wooden floors refinished, a new roof, new solar, & a Tesla power wall. There were just so many pieces that had to fit together. This is where a real experienced contractor pays off. Once again our choice in using IKB was validated. Keith and Tyler, IKB's builders, the designers, Lucy the project manager, all the office staff and subcontractors were so great to work with. I would call my design style "Industrial bohemian". When our designer said "we can work with that" I was surprised and delighted. Our new guest bathroom is exactly that, industrial bohemian. Who knew? For the rest of it, selecting lighting, doors, door handles, every nut and bolt can be exhausting but it all came together at the end. We started with IKB when we remodeled an outdated master bathroom. We were so impressed with the IKB designers & builders, Keith and Tyler, that we signed on to get a kitchen remodel as well. During the kitchen remodel, we decided to live in our house during the entire process, setting up an outdoor kitchen in our backyard and eating out. Keith, Tyler & the subcontractors became like family to us. As a professional chef and restaurateur, I knew my way around kitchen design. Home design materials are not as durable as professional materials but professional materials are not beautiful. The IKB designers were able to help us find tough, durable materials that were beautiful and timeless looking. After 13 years, people still marvel at how beautiful our kitchen design is. IKB was able to finish 3 weeks earlier than expected! Any good craftsman will tell you that a good outcome depends on the prep. You can't make a great meal unless you use great ingredients. The same thing goes for construction projects. If you don't do your work prior to starting your project, it will not go smoothly and you will not be happy with the results. IKB does the work, and they take pride in the results.

Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

There have been multiple unresolved issues with the quality of work and follow-through. One example is an LED light that continues to flicker. It has been more than six months, with many calls and text messages, but the issue still has not been fixed. Another example is damage to our garage cabinet, where a hole was created during the work. We are still waiting for this to be repaired as well. Overall, the lack of timely resolution and poor communication after the project has been extremely frustrating.
