This is a lengthy review, but to understand how good Home Remedy and Mike Crigler is, you need to understand the self induced complications and additions I made during the course of the job, which was still completed during my 2 week time frame. After seeing all the reviews on Angies List and in the Houston area, I decided on Home Remedy for some work on my house. The only thing that had been painted in my house in 20 years was the walls. The job started as a repair of the numerous visible sheetrock seams along with painting the ceilings. We were to replace all the down and gimble lights in my house with the LED retrofit fixtures (45), install 4 new complicated ceiling fixtures, move a vent, remove a few down lights, close up all ceiling holes, replace an exterior door, repair, restain & seal my front door, close up and paint an old dog door, repair 3 sets of french doors and repair numerous interior doors, all that wouldn?t close or open as the case may be. The humidity in the summer is such that my french doors could not be opened and/ or closed without without fear of never getting the door closed again! We had a contract for $8,300 for the interior work & repairs, and $2,200 for the LED retro refit of all the down lights (45). My requirement was that this work be completed in 2 weeks. A couple of days before we started, I realized that with the implied chaos of painting all the ceilings, I should go ahead and paint all of the woodwork trim, crown molding & doors as well. I asked Mike how much and could it still be done within the 2 week time frame. Answer was $3,800 & yes. I considered this a fair price considering the amount of woodwork & doors to be painted. As the work proceeded in the first week, I realized my 6 sets of plantation shutters were also desperately in need of paint and they did that as well ($750). Then I realized my hall needed repair & paint. They did that too. ($350) My point is, I kept throwing things at them, some of them pretty darn big things. The painters worked thru the weekend, and everything was done, remarkably still within my 2 week time frame. I would also like to add that the painters showed up at 8:00 am and did not leave until 6:00 pm. I?ve been involved in a lot of office tower construction over the years, and I?ve certainly never seen sub-contractors work like that unless there was a lot of overtime involved. The result is my house looks brand new, and the new ceiling fixtures are perfectly placed. There were a few missteps along the way, but that is always the case in construction. It is always chaos during the process as you are boxing and moving everything you you have sitting out from one place to the other, then having to wash things before putting them back when the job its complete. My house is a 2,300 sq.ft. 60 year old ranch house that was updated 20 years ago by previous owners. I?ve lived here 15 years, and I now feel like I live in a new house! I love every thing thats been done, and I highly, highly recommend Home Remedy & Mike Crigler. We hired Home Remedy last month to do numerous repairs in our Midtown rental house (building out a door; painting, etc. ...a long and varied to-do list ...). In sum, we were extremely impressed and satisfied with everyone involved, and it was an all around fantastic experience - I would highly recommend them to anyone without hesitation! First - which is likely the most important - the end work product was excellent, and exactly what we asked to be done. Second was the service and interaction to get to that end point - it could not have been better. Richard and his team fully understood our requests and needs; clearly explained the estimate; and acted professionally throughout the project. They were really fantastic to deal with, and responsive and courteous to every question that we had (and we had numerous questions) - they were complete professionals and did not stop until they had addressed every one of our questions and we were 100% satisfied with the work (which was completed exactly on the time line that we requested). To me it seems that Richard and his guys, and Mike who we also communicated with a number of times, really want to please the customer as they realize the benefits of keeping their customers happy and satisfied. I have had Home Remedy complete several projects for me over the years. They have done repairs to my home after a neighbor's tree fell through the roof and wall. In addition to damage repairs from this & Ike, I have used Home Remedy for other projects including sheet rock replacement, painting, floors, demolition & disposal, drainage work, installation of gutters, and more. The crew completes the work in a very timely fashion, maintains an impressively neat & clean environment during their stay and are always good about communicating progress throughout the work being done. My most recent work was the replacement of 80 feet of sidewalk. This was to improve the condition of broken sections to make the area more safe & Home Remedy was able to complete this project in less than two days. I have been extremely pleased with all finished work and am always anxious to show off the results to friends & family. We called Home Remedy for an estimate to remodel our master bathroom. The work involved gutting the room down to the rafters and studs. Widening the door between the bedroom and bath, Complete rewiring and plumbing. The installation of cabinets, tile, shower and all fixtures. Mikey, of Home Remedy, responded with a very detailed estimate within a few days. They stuck to the costs and there were no surprises. In fact, they went out of their way to make us happy. The work flowed smoothly and was finished a few days under the 5 week prediction. They quality of work was very excellent and there was very little disruption of our household life. Home Remedy has been doing large and small jobs for me for several years. My home is 94 yrs. old so it needs lots of care. They have remodeled my kitchen, remodeled a bedroom, and done several smaller jobs for me. I have come to know many of the crew members and am always happy to have them in my house. They listen to my ideas and they keep me posted about a job in progress. I am always proud to show off the work that Home Remedy has done. I have recommended them to many friends. From the bid process to completion, I found them professional always arriving on time and putting in a full days work, ready to help with the endless decisions that need to be made during construction. I had Home Remedy come out to fix a leaking shower and replace the water damaged closet ceiling below. It was easy to set up an estimate and the cost was fair. Home Remedy came out to fix a roof leak around the flashing of a roof vent. They showed up when they told me they would, were helpful and clear dealing with the issue, and gave us a flat rate for a 'roof tune-up'.
