    Sweet Pot Mash !

I ordered Sweet Home Cooking Friday via door dash and WOWZA !!!! This is where my taste buds had a party and invited the whole neighborhood! The fried chicken tenders were so good, they should come with a "Caution: May cause uncontrollable joy" label. The macaroni cheese? I've found my soulmate in pasta form. And those tator tots? Crispy bites of pure happiness. This delivery is like a Southern-style culinary hug that leaves you planning your next meal before you even finish the current one. 5/5, because anything less would be an insult to these taste bud magicians! Everything was perfect d beautiful- and everything was tasty and delicious. You can taste the TLC added !!!! I would recommend this for catering or family dinner - and cannot wait to order again !!!

First impression- staff was super friendly and helpful. Seems like there's something for everyone on the menu. We enjoyed the maple rib eye - even my super picky 3 year old dug in! Not pictured is the chicken sandwich that they made crispy for me. It was so good it wouldn't have made a pretty picture by the time I thought to take one. We will definitely be back to try breakfast as well!

So nice I love how this place has so much option and so good. Loved it here definitely coming back.

And I have to say, my review remains the same at 5 stars...JJ's Diner does not disappoint! Our awesome server was Mary Ann with an M ....she gave us friendly and warm service and she was very attentive. Our food came out hot and was delicious - - i had another waffle, but this time with just bananas - -and hubby had scrambled eggs and hash browns covered in cheese - - and he LOVED every bite as did I. And the coffee is just perfect! JJ's is a bright light and such a heavenly oasis. Everyone should be as happy and positive as the people that work at JJ's. They have worked hard to provide this consistently good food and service over the years. We will make it a point to be back again next time we are in town.

Hi there Yelpers. This counts as the fourth time coming to this diner to enjoy their breakfast. On…read morethree of four occasions I enjoyed - thoroughly - their Sunriser. That's creamed chipped beef over toast with two eyes any style but I get mine poached or over easy accompanied by grits. Yes. Grits. Which explains my finally trying their sausage and gravy. Quite traditional dish I'm told by a Floridian friend who I had join me this past week while she visited. We agreed that the server was allowing us the time we needed to catch up with the right amount of follow up. I'd have liked to have my water refilled one more time. But that was on me for not stopping to ask as she poured another cup of coffee for my friend. I've had their coffee and it's delicious. My friend enjoyed the international omelette. She enjoyed it. The diner has its own parking lot with plenty of parking. The inside is eclectic but with definite typical Jersey diner vibes and the counter and stools to go with it. I've sat at the counter and the service is cordial and inviting. Quick too when necessary. Enjoy if you are coming to or from ACY as it's close and you'll feel satisfied either arriving into the area before heading to AC or returning home. Enjoy!

It's been awhile ... and you might notice the added star but I can tell you that the fourth star…read morewas wavering in the cool winter breeze because once again we had to search for any staff to refill our water glasses or to just check in on us. Since we are talking about five years since my last review I am guessing the "leave them alone so that they can talk" philosophy of restaurant service is an institutional policy. Frankly, the service was better than the 2017 review but please we should not have to leave the table and walk into another area of the restaurant to find our server to ask to have our water glasses refilled. And, the kid from the land of the dead whom I at first thought was a customer lost attempting to find his parents was actually an employee. Someone at my table suggested I ask him for a refill of the water as he slowly walked by in a half stupor but I said "If he worked here he'd at least remove the completed soup bowls from our table (They remained until the entire meal was finished.)." I discovered later when he returned to clean a table top that he actually was an employee who might have been trained to notice diners in need of water or he could have actually said "Good evening, I have noticed your water glasses have nothing in them ... might I refill them for you?" But, then again perhaps its institutional policy. Having gotten that out of the way I have to say I was very impressed by the new entranceway, which replaced the old wooden railings that I remember front he splinters in my hand. It is a very attractive entrance and as always, noted in my prior review, you are greeted warmly and feel very welcome as you walk into this very attractive restaurant. The menu has changed since we were last here. We all agreed that it appears to have been reduced in offerings and in variety but that did not stop us from finding something. Clearly when you see the four stars and if you have reached this point of the review you have noted negatives but yet 4 stars. The food is delicious and well conceived! We didn't get anything extravagant but the French Onion Soup was truly special both visually and more importantly its blend of flavors along with the nice presence of perfectly cooked onions made those who ordered the soup very happy campers (Ok,, that's a phrase ... we are not camping out in the winter.). The sandwich was accompanied by some of the best "chips" we have ever had (All too often restaurants in their attempt to save money rather than offering French fries created chips that are burnt, overly salted or otherwise inedible.) and we all were reaching over to make sure not a speck was left. I ordered the Sweet Chili Signature Chicken Salad (Romanelli's has always been known for their awesome salads!), which was perfect for me but .... If you don't like Asian-style chili garlic sauce be forewarned that this salad's going to do more than tingle your tongue ... you are going to need water to cool it down and you already read about the lack of water refills. The chicken was perfectly cooked ... the croutons had me searching for more, and the blend of flavors made this a fantastic filling meal but .... As we left and I talked about the "heat" of my salad someone asked "Where was the bread or the rolls with dinner?" Where indeed was the bread basket that one used to receive as a guest at Romanelli's? Yes, COVID and increased costs have forced restaurants to save dollars wherever they could but we had folks with soup and me with a salad so a small dinner roll or a nice piece of bread would have been perfect but alas no bread. The menu features all those fabulous omelettes that make Romanelli's a great stop for breakfast (I wonder if you get toast or coffee refills.)! And, I am sure we will be back but next time I might ask that the water pitcher be left on the table when ordering so that the server will realize that many people need more than one glass of water with their meal especially if the water is their choice of beverage for the evening, afternoon, or morning.

So glad that we did because it was excellent with great staff. We all really enjoyed the food. I loved my crab cake sandwich. It was so moist and flavorful. My husband loved his turkey platter. The gravy was delicious and the turkey was moist. My father in law enjoyed his burger. It was a good menu and tight in the middle of the cute little town. Would love to go back and try other things.

Served quickly and hot in a big, wide bowl. It looked good. Had small, irregularly sized potatoes and chopped carrots. The broth was a little thicker than I imagined or had tasted before in other restaurants, or in the one I make. Clams were tiny and, as you'd expect from a can. Not fresh clams. In fact, you can put all the clams found in chowder in a single tablespoon. Even found a whole bay leaf in it, which should have been removed before serving it. So, how is the chowder? I've had better from canned chowder, and the one I make is way better. Zero stars for the chowder. Next up is the Turkey platter with sliced turkey (hard and dry), 1 ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes (ok, nothing special), 1 ice cream scoop of stuffing (totally disgusting, and had corn in it), string beans (with vine still attached), gravy (terrible), and a little cup of cranberries (decent). Total fail. The waitress was ok, though stopping by every 5 minutes to ask if everything was good was quite annoying. The 'ice water gentleman' was great. You never asked for water, and when the glass was 1/2 empty, he was there refilling it. Great job! The final score of 2 stars is for the historic inn's ambiance and layout. We won't be back, and do not recommend.
