Rolf was great with the install of our shade sail for our back patio. He was detail-oriented, efficient and knows his product very well. A few things that make this a 5-star review: 1) No pressure on the pricing; his installation took 2 visits and there was no pressure to pay for everything up front. We paid 50% on each visit. 2) Rolf installed this in late spring/early summer and when it was time to take the shade down recently at the beginning of winter, he was available when I needed help, specifically: 3) I needed help with the ratchet strap to actually remove the shade sail from its anchor points. Although he was about to travel overseas, he kindly responded to my texts and assisted me in how to use the ratchet strap properly w the sail take-down. Thank you! 4) When Rolf initially put up the shade, he informed us that one of the anchor points was in some wood that would need treating soon due to wood rot...something we otherwise would not have known. We were interested in having a 20 ft awning installed on our roof overhanging the patio cover but due to that not being practical he proposed installing the awning on two posts in our yard and having the awning open toward the home. This review is long overdue, but I wanted to provide a review of Rolf's work. I ordered a retractable awning spanning our patio (16x 16) as well as vertical shade (16 x 5) installed in May 2017. Rolf was punctual in arriving to provide a quote as well as performing the work. Price-wise, Rolf was by far the best deal compared to others (~40% less than similar products from other companies). The quality of materials were comparable to the other quality products on the market (had all the same fabric as any other company). I also wanted the awning to be angled to allow for run off when it rained out. I would recommend only leaving out in light to medium rain (retract in heavy rain). I chose Rolf because I wanted a softer look for my patio, as opposed to a louvered awning. It's great because I can open the entire patio at night and see the stars unobstructed. Overall I was very satisfied with Rolf's work (price, quality, and punctuality). read more

Rolf (Home-Teck) installed our awning in May 2012. At the time our home had cedar shakes so the awning was installed under the eve. When our new roof was installed a couple of years later, Rolf came back out and reinstalled the awning on the roof. In both cases Rolf was prompt in showing up at the requested time. A couple of weeks ago the wind detector unit was having issues and retracting when there was no wind. Rolf gave us a day when he could be by and he showed up on time. He quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem. It was just batteries that needed to be replaced and he put in new batteries for us and showed me how to do it in the future. Rolf (Home-teck) was the second awning company I had come out, inspect and measure area. Rolf was much more detailed and involved in whole process of selecting, manufacturing and installing our new awning. He knew every question and measurement I asked him. He even had sample awnings on his van. Post-shut down, businesses are now really backed up and trying to catch up but Rolf was able to deliver and install earlier than expected. His estimate was better and his product is the best I have found in the area. He uses a full cassette covering fabric completely when not in use. The other awning company was selling half-cassette which exposes top of fabric role when closed for more $$$.
