Due to a last minute booking, the Colonial Inn was the only affordable lodging with decent reviews. We stayed in a double bed, non smoking room near the main house. The rooms have been refurbished compared to the pictures provided online. Surprisingly, the rooms were much cleaner than expected, but don't expect spotless. The rooms are equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, individual AC unit, and a tiny TV the size of a monitor. Cons: Bath towels are hilariously small and cover closer to nothing, sheets and towels were clean, but had minor stains, our bathroom didn't have a working exhaust fan, hotel room had an aged smell to the air, curtain blinds had some questionable stains... Despite the cons, the location is the best part-- less than 15 mins away from Brown University / Providence with plenty of fast food and stores nearby.

The floors were filthy and disgusting clearly again not vacuumed. The floors were so bad. I had to wash my feet in the morning before I put my socks on. Nice queen size beds and refreshed interior (although the paint on some doors and the sink faucet is already peeling) and note, no more irons and ironing board - they supply you with a clothes steamer. We ate at the main dining room for breakfast buffet (it's the only option with no a la carte menu) and is $18 pp. we enjoyed it and one of the mornings they also offered omelette and eggs your way station. That was a bonus. We enjoyed their spread. For dinner, the wedding had a pre reception the night before and it was setup as a buffet with a cash bar. It was fine and just reminded me of your typical catered food. Not great but not bad. The Legends bar was a nice surprise seeing a full sports bar inside a hotel. Nice bartenders and friendly to boot. Also had live music too. They have nice size indoor pool and a tiny fitness center (please fix your Peloton bike!) too. After a long night out, that comfort matters. Now for the not-so-great. We were attending an event at the hotel, and unfortunately the bartender scheduled for the event was sick. That part isn't my complaint -- these things happen. However, guests were directed to the hotel bar instead. Fine... although walking through a Valentine's crowd in full vampire makeup was admittedly awkward (but that's on us and our life choices ). What was frustrating: the two water dispensers in the hallway of our event were completely empty. If there's no bartender for the event, ensuring guests have access to water seems like a very basic courtesy. Later that night, the hallway outside our room turned into what felt like a preteen playground around 11 p.m. Not ideal for sleep. I won't entirely blame the hotel for that -- but it certainly didn't help the overall experience. The real issue, and the reason for the low rating, was the construction. The website clearly states renovations begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. Unfortunately, we were jolted awake at 6:45 a.m. by loud banging, drilling, stomping, and worker chatter right above our room. When you're paying close to $200 per night and hoping to sleep in after a night of celebration, that matters. A lot. We left tired, cranky, and disappointed. We even skipped the $18-per-person breakfast (served in a freezing cold dining area) because we just wanted to get out of there. It's frustrating because this could have been a decent stay. But unexpected early construction noise and basic oversights like empty water stations made it one we won't be repeating.
