Theres a white lady from this company that acts entitled and harasses you if she doesn't get her way. They have the audacity to INCREASE the COST of services even though they do not pay their workers the appropriate wages. Their quality of care is TRASH. Every worker they've sent to my house was always on their phone and were negligent to my type of care and needs. If this is the type of service you're looking for, then proceed with caution. read more

Homecare California was literally a lifesaver to me and my Father. I cannot rate them high enough! While traveling abroad, my 90-year old Father, who lives in the Villages in San Jose, was hospitalized. I could not make it back to the US to help get him safely home and cared for while he recovered. My Husband had previously used Homecare California for his ailing Mom and had an excellent experience with their services. I emailed them to see if they could help bring my Father home from the hospital and arrange daily care until I returned, and Stacey emailed back quickly to say they could! What a relief! I don't usually add reviews on here but we experienced a privacy issue with this company and one of their workers. My grandpa was receiving care and he mentioned a man with short hair who isn't one of their care takers entering the home and taking videos/photos of him. I installed cameras in the home and sure enough the same man a week later was taking pictures and videos with my grandpa while the care taker was looking on. I think he works for the company but he comes unannounced, takes videos or selfies and leaves. I have yet to bring up with management but please be cautious. It's sick and disturbing having my grandpa's photo taken without his consent for enjoyment. I'll update when I notify them. read more

Mom's husband was quickly getting overwhelmed, physically & emotionally, trying to manage on his own. As her condition was deteriorating, tasks were piling up, almost without our knowing. When Mom slipped in the bathroom (& wasn't seriously injured, thankfully) I realized we had to get help right away. Enter HomeCare California! First, our caseworker LISTENED! We were able to get an idea of what KIND & how MUCH caregiver time we needed; plus the best schedule to achieve our goals. We also got all the flexibility we needed & care shifts were added with very little if any lead time. I never felt that we were "locked in" to a particular schedule or individual caregiver. Mom's husband enjoyed meeting the caregivers & helping them get oriented in the home. All & all, Mom was in good hands & her husband was able to receive some much-needed help. After researching care agencies I selected HCC based on the professional organization, staff and business practices they have. I should have done it sooner. Their caregivers brought skills and love to their job. My wife was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2017. I was her sole caregiver until December of 2020 when I hired a HCC caregiver for the afternoons and added a second HCC caregiver in about April 2021 for the mornings. My initial uncertainty and fears that my wife would not accept outside caregivers were eliminated when the first HCC caregiver walked in the front door to a big smile on my wife's face. 5 stars to HCC. read more

Do not trust your loved ones to this agency. Not only are they very expensive (which would be fine, if they provided good care) but the caregivers that they sent were mediocre at best, and outright abusive and dangerous at worst. One actually hit!!! my mother, and another flushed trash and recycling down the toilet, causing a huge sewage backup throughout the entire house. Some of the people who came were trying to do their best, but there is no communication between one shift and the next. They made numerous mistakes with medication (which, thankfully, was not dangerous in this particular instance, though it could have been.) I would give them 0 stars if I could. The agency denies any responsibility for either situation, and apparently the caregivers in question denied these actions. Utterly horrible. I am contacting APS about the level of disregard my elderly mother was subjected to. read more

My family and I were looking for care after my grandmother fell. We wanted someone to stay up during the nights to watch her since we were burning out trying to do it ourselves. We were referred to Homecare California from her primary care doctor. Before that, I tried to do some research and it's difficult since there aren't many reviews for a lot of home care services, so I'm grateful for the referral. When I called them on a Friday evening after my grandmother was discharged from the hospital, they got back to me during the weekend and tried to set things up ASAP since I had told them we were exhausted and needed someone right away. We met Brooke, our case manager on Monday and we discussed what happened and our needs. Brooke is amazing! She listens to everything with such empathy and you can tell she really cares about her work and patients. We found someone right away and the caretakers were very gentle and kind with my grandmother, which is something that's absolutely priceless. We will definitely be asking the caretakers to come on a more consistent basis. I wanted to mention that you never feel pressured to meet a certain number of hours and it's always based on what the family needs. They're flexible with times and do their best to schedule something during the time you need. They are professional and I'm so grateful for the extra help! read more

We needed help for my mom after her being diagnosed with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. We had the best care team that Stacey and JC helped put together for my Mom. Stacey Roman and her team are top notch and we would definitely use them again. My mom was in an independent living community in San Jose and unfortunately she encountered unexpected and alarmingly fast dementia. We could not find a memory care unit for her due to the waiting list and we needed 24 by 7 personal care to keep mom safe - immediately. Stacey and her team of professionals have dementia care experience and were able to put together a 24 by 7 schedule of care givers to help mom within 8 hours of my call. Mom had to go to the ER during one of the care giver rotations, and this was proactively identified by one of Stacey's care givers. They called 911 and had the paramedics arrive and take mom to the hospital. The care giver then drove to the hospital where I met the care giver and mom. The hospital stabilized mom and then the care giver drove mom back to her community apartment. This was an awesome experience and this experience is reflective of the 3 care givers that helped mom; proactive, professional, caring, and understanding of dementia clients. I would want these people taking care of me if I end up needing 24 by 7 care. Needless to say, I strongly recommend Homecare California and would absolutely use them again for my mom or my family and relatives. read more

Homecare California is a home owned and run organization that are interested in finding the best match for my needs. Their website is useful and materials very informative. Chamber of Commerce Rating of A+ and their staff who followed up were interested in helping me solve my problem, not just making a sale. Homecare California was referred to me by a friend who had their home care services to take care of their parents in San Mateo. They had a very positive experience and suggested I give them a call. My mother lived alone in her house and had increasing signs of memory issues. As time went by it was clear that she would need to receive care at home or move into an assisted living community because of her mental decline. She had expressed a desire to remain at home after my father passed and I decided to respect her wishes by looking into care at home. At the time I knew very little about what services were available. I contacted Greg Hartwell who is the owner of Homecare California. Greg explained the various options available and suggested that we meet in person prior to meeting with my mother. This gave me an opportunity to give him the entire background and come up with a plan to convince my mom to accept care at home. We started out with hourly care several days a week and eventually as my moms issues increased we moved to have a live-in caregiver. This all took place over the course of about three years. And the Homecare California team was with me throughout the entire process. I believe my mom lived as good a life as possible with her Alzheimer's and I know I felt much better knowing there were Quality caregivers providing care and a management team that I could count on to manage those caregivers. Despite this being a new business, they had already hired superb staff, and were able to send a very kind and competent woman to our home with almost no notice. My father needed in-home care. I contacted Homecare California and was very impressed with Greg's professionalism and explanation if the services available. The caregivers were excellent. They were attentive and competent in helping my father bathe, walk and take his medications. They prepared light breakfasts and lunches and worked with my dad from 9 AM - 5 PM each day and on the weekends as well. Horrible. Would not recommend. My father had caregivers from this company when he was dying of cancer, and we were required by Kaiser Hospice (who I also would never recommend- horrible!- but that's another story) to have round-the-clock people in the house to supervise him. We had more people come through than I can count. Someone different all the time. My dad didn't really need any tasks done, and just needed someone there while we were out, in case of a fall or other emergency. Caregivers usually seemed very young and inexperienced. One kept bothering my dad when he just wanted to rest, pestering him to tell her what chores she should do. She even did some chores that we didn't want done. Others would show up for long shifts with no food of their own and nothing to keep themselves occupied while my dad was resting. We told them over and over to bring things to read or a laptop, etc., but more often than not, they'd just sit around and stare at my dad and make him uncomfortable. It was really hard for us, because it created extra stress on my dad when he was already really sick and tired. We wouldn't have had people come over at all if it weren't for the requirement from hospice. Very expensive, too. A few hours a few times a week really adds up fast. We had one woman who was excellent. She really made a bond with my dad and was very professional, friendly, and kind. She knew when to step in and offer to do things for my dad and when to just let him rest. However, we weren't able to keep her as our regular person as long as we would have liked. read more

I have been working with Homecare California for some time now and have been very pleased with their services. Sheilah is very easy to work with on scheduling; she follows up quickly and is always understanding about changes I need to make in managing the care for my father. Not every caregiver is perfect, but they have all been willing to learn my father's needs. Homecare California has never sent a caregiver who was obviously ill-suited, such as someone way too small or fragile to handle a 150-pound man. HomeCare California has diligently worked with us since our mother was hospitalized in June, then with support care at her senior facility unit in the Los Gatos-Saratoga area. Stacey Roman, a Senior Client Care Manager, met us at mom's residence to answer questions and review the contract before any commitment. (HomeCare also easily passed all legal screening requirements of the senior facility.) The nurse assistants have been wonderful, gentle and supportive (one exception) as our time schedules and needs shifted. Maka, one of the first, was a gem. Recently, the schedule has settled and we have had the same nurse assistant for the past two months. Judi is fantastic! Professional, reliable, and warmly courteous. She engages our mother in a manner that recognizes mom's intelligence. She also knows how to respect our mother's privacy, never over-stepping. Always easy to communicate with, HomeCare has made our lives much easier during this trying period. read more

I have been using Homecare California's services for over two years now for my father who lives alone.  I found them on the Internet along with multiple other homecare companies. I did my homework and called about seven agencies. My dad had just had surgery and was coming out of the hospital and needed A significant amount of care when he was discharged. I am very busy with my job and my family and don't get a lot of time to spend with him as a result.  I wanted to make sure I understood what the services were all about. My conversation with the care manager at Homecare California was significantly different than the other agencies I talked to. They sent me A guide on discharge from the hospital that help me understand what the process was going to be. They also helped me work with the long-term care insurance company to make sure my dad's policy would begin paying as soon as possible. I guess the biggest thing that made my experience different was they took the time to educate me and help me make the right decisions. I considered trying to convince my dad to move into A senior community. Their care manager helped me understand the costs and the pros and cons of homecare versus A facility. Ultimately my dad was the one who was going to make the decision but I needed to work with him because he wasn't willing to do the research.  He doesn't have unlimited funds and I wanted to make sure he was spending his money wisely. My dad is now in his 90s and doing pretty well despite some Health issues he has had for a long time. I think he has actually enjoyed the company of his caregivers one of which is male and the other female. These two caregivers have been with him for about 8 months and have been very significant in his life. As long as my dad can live at home with his caregivers coming in daily I feel better about not being able to see him as much as I would like to. And when I do he seems to be in pretty good spirits. I would definitely recommend home care california to my friends.  It is been a very good experience in a very stressful time. read more

We've been using caregivers from Homecare California for nearly a year now, and I'm a huge fan!! I had set up services with another company days in advance and they dropped us about 36 hrs. before we needed them to start. I got a referral to Homecare from someone at the rehab where my mom was, called them and they had someone at her house the next day, who started then and is still with us. We have one person five days a week and another 2-day per week person. The 2-day a week slot has been filled by a number of different people throughout the year (most people want their own full-time job!) and there've been minor problems, but throughout, the agency has worked with us at every step to keep continuity and safety a priority. This is a very expensive service to undertake, but your peace of mind is worth a lot!! We were quite lucky to find the right person on the first try and to be able to trust her implicitly right from the beginning. I checked into other agencies but this one had the best fee schedule and the nicest people answering their phones. And...you get what you pay for!! read more
