This place is a treasure trove! Items shoved every which way for shoppers to sift through. Most things cost more than I would pay, but that's part of finding treasure in the hunt. I found a big ole bag of Macadamia nuts for only $10.99. Sure they smell like plastic from sitting on the shelf for too long, so I have to transfer them to a glass container after airing out, but definitely worth it. With more time and patience, I'll come back to go treasure hunting for my nest. Please don't be fooled my the long check out lines- they move quickly. And there's a great selection of items so even the most store-phobic family members can have a bit of time exploring. read more

Homegoods is the perfect place to decorate your home. They have lots of items I see in major stores, priced less. They only gripe I have is furniture. I always see nice chairs I'd like to buy, but sometimes I need a matching pair. Often there's only one. A store rep explained, this is an outlet store, so often they only get one item. When I asked if they could check availability at other stores. She could not, but gave me the numbers so I could do it myself. I called another store, but they only wanted a description of the item. Then while waiting, we lost the call. In my humble opinion, I see room for improvement for a better shopping experience. A secure store to store email or site where your store rep can communicate and assist the customer better. Overall, the store is clean, lots of items to shop from and competitive prices. Three items were left out of my bag, I was however charged. When I got home (30 mins away) to find this, I grabbed my receipt and immediately called the store. I was hung up 8 TIMES! At one point when the guy answered I said "stop hanging up!!!!!" He responded with "yes ma'am but I need you to hold." He then let me listen to hold music for 3 mins before hanging up on me. I came back a week later (next time I was in the area) and was told sorry, nothing could be done, I should have called. Really considering disputing the charge on my card. read more

Unfortunately this was my favorite homegoods until today. I tried my best to reason with the store manager Margret and she was not willing to be reasonable. Bought a fake plant for 11 bucks, 2 weeks ago cash and lost the receipt. They had no problem returning it but out of nowhere asked for my ID. That's a no-go. You don't need a receipt to return something you just agreed to return. Was also buying additional items which were worth more than $11, left them at the counter and won't be coming back. Quite a nice place. HomeGoods stocks a variety of functional and decorative household goods. I was impressed with the quality; a lot of it doesn't fall into the category of 'cheap crap' and if you're used to shopping at Ross and Marshall's, it's a step up. In terms of quality, I'd actually compare it to World Market but at much better prices. A lot of the items are imported from Europe, in fact (as well as China, of course). I really enjoy their specialty foods, including tea, organic shelf stable items, sweets, and my wife picked up truffle oil here for only a couple of dollars that has made many scrambled eggs spectacular. They have really great coffee here too for so cheap. What I like most is that many of the items that they have in storage, bathroom, etc. are rather unique (over the cabinet hair dryer holder anyone?), and they may have a good selection of the same type of item (folding foot stools had ~15 colors to choose from, ~5 types of over the cabinet towel racks), or no selection at all, depending. You may not have seen something like it before, but now you realize that you need it! read more

What could go wrong at such a wonderful place?? This place is filled with home decor and other essentials for your home. They usually are beside TJMAXX but this one seems to be a stand alone. If you want fun stuff around the house that don't cost you an arm and a leg then this is your place. They even have seasonal things during Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving etc. The staff here are quite helpful and seemed to be very cheerful. The location is great since it is right off of the service road of 183. They have a HUGE clearance section, too. I like to just kill time here when needed also. Free A/C and no one is watching you like a hawk and making you feel awkward. The checkout line moves very quickly and there is plenty of parking for everyone! read more

After spending $150 at Home Goods, I needed to return 2 items--one because it didn't fit, and the other, silver polish, because it didn't work. I had my receipt. I was treated with condescension by the counter clerk and TWO managers, who she called after assuring me that store policy is to refuse a return if the container has been opened. A manager repeated it. "I knew the product was bad because I TRIED it!" I explained twice. The guy told me sarcastically, "Well, we'll take care of you THIS time...." as if I was a grifter trying to pull a fast one. There was zero concern that Home Goods might be selling an inferior product, and no care or respect for me as a customer. After 12 years in retail management, I can recognize terrrible customer service. And the kicker? They wouldn't give me a refund, just store credit. read more

Saturdays and Sunday's are the busiest days and the hardest days to find parking. I also think the lines are the longest, if you come during the week day, it's pretty chill. Came in here to look for a jar for my "Good things that happened to me in 2013" project. Left with a jar, an awesome goldfish cocktail shaker, and some wall art. They have a lot of stuff that you don't need. They probably have some stuff that you want/are searching for. They have a lot of cool refinished/repurposed furniture that (unless you're as uncreative as I am), you could buy elsewhere super cheap and refinish/repurpose it yourself; that stuff, however, I found overpriced, since I know a lot of creative types that could accomplish the same aesthetic. The store itself is brightly lit and decently organized by category. I didn't even consider the fact that they would have silverware and light fixtures! I don't remember in which area I located my jar, but I guess jars can be sort of versatile that way. It was just after Christmas, so their Christmas stuff was on clearance... I was on a mission, so didn't investigate the "deals," though. Don't forget the isle of impulse buys! That's actually where I nabbed the wall art that I didn't need. The only employee I encountered was the cashier. She was very friendly (Disclaimer: I think I was in a more chatty mood than normal, so I may have initiated the conversation) and asked if I'd read the jar thing on Pinterest. Yes, yes I did. After a nice conversation, she wrapped up the fragile objects in layers of tissue paper and sent me on my way. Will I be back? Sure. Will I buy more stuff than I actually need/am looking for? Probably. But I'll likely look for whatever thing I'm seeking at Target first. read more

There's a new HomeGoods in town, and this time they decided to mosey on up North. Yay for that! The negatives, of course, are the tight, overcrowded parking lot, and the small size of the store. This is a tiny, little store by the standards of most of the HomeGoods I have rated. But, hey, it's a HomeGoods and I don't have to drive 45 minutes to get to it, so I'll take it and be happy. You won't find the selection at this store that you will at the big Bee Cave store, but, even though it is significantly smaller than the Sunset Valley location, they are pretty much equal to them on stock. So, run on in and get those extra party platters for the holidays, or some new sheets for when the in-laws visit. You'll probably find what you want right here. read more

You have to understand the concept of the store to really appreciate it...designer goods, the real deal, knockout prices. If you come here for something specific like "A pink and white floral rug" you may not find what you are looking for. But come here to browse and you'll likely fill your cart. As a chef, I am blown away by the stuff I find in the cooking department...the best oils you can buy, truly the top brands, that normally break the bank...bargains. Genuine madagascar vanilla that is usually $35 per bottle, 5 bucks as well. I mean, the deals I have gotten in the cooking department!!! That alone would be enough to spend my afternoon here, but there are so many other great things. Google some of the brand names as you peruse the handblown glass and table decor...some of these items retails for over $250...I got one for $15...same brand and piece as was selling at Macy's for $250. This is why there is no other place to shop for Christmas gifts and wedding presents and, well, HOME GOODS. Really nice things for your pets as well. I have decked out my home with things some pieces that people rave over from here. Sure, you have to enjoy shopping the aisles but this is high end stuff at prices you can't beat. I don't like cheap things at low prices. I want stuff that lasts and is high quality. Being able to get it at great prices is like a fun sport. And Home Goods makes it happen. Also I have yet to spend hours there that there wasn't a very friendly staff person who helped me...I wish I could recall the name of the person who checked me out last time and gave me lots of good help to some questions...I think it was Laura? This place has everything, its very dangerous. I was looking for a rug to put in the kitchen, one of those natural hand made looking, woven, kinda rough feeling rugs and this store had a plethora of them. There were all sorts of rugs actually, the woven, colorful flowery kind that reminded me of one that my mom took to crochet many years ago, so of course I bought one of those and a big woven, natural, rug. I have no idea what you call those rugs but they look nice and can get beat up pretty good and will one day make a good outdoor rug. I was on a mission, so I couldn't look at any of the other isles, it was so tempting though, like wanting to eat chocolate ice cream after you already ate a cake : ) The store was set up really well, very organized and it wash't trashed by other people that usually do that in these kinda stores. I'm looking forward to my next splurge of needing something thats not so necessary but will be so fulfilling like a bowl of ice cream. read more

We're really ticked off at this store. For the third time it's charged us $0.99 for a cheap plastic shopping bag because they're out of paper bags! Well, it may seem minor but we spent over $100.00 yesterday. it's not our fault they can't keep bags in stock. We went to the other two Home Good stores in the area (it was too late to make Bee Caves) and they had paper bags for the stuff we bought at their respective stores. "It's basically an upscale Marshall's with no clothes and a ton of kitchen and furniture items." So glad to have a HomeGoods up north. This place is filled with a ton of reasonable kitchen items, chairs, lamps, pillows, and holiday decor. TONS of holiday decor. I went in recently and it's Halloween heaven/ Fall paradise in there. My only complaint is the staff that's very limited. There was one cashier with a long line of people checking out...including the lady that bought 50 bags of pasta. You couldn't get those at say...HEB??? Also not a single employee in sight whn I was shopping. Although I didn't need help rummaging through pumpkins, pillows, and random gadgets I probably don't need. read more

I'm surprised at the low ratings I am seeing here. I think this is such a fun store! They rotate their stuff all the time and you never know what they will have that is new. The prices go from low to (mostly) medium and high. I have been very pleased with things I have gotten there -- such as storage baskets for 40% less than Target's prices, a couple real cool mugs (3.99 each) and a ceramic tea kettle for half off not long after Christmas. The staff is definitely on the light side and I get the impression they are not expected to know much about what is there since it changes so often, and that is fine with me -- but there is where they lost a star. They are always friendly and the place has a spacious feel that is light and bright. I wish I could give them 5 stars. I find this store refreshing. read more

Definitely my favorite place to shop for home goods. If you've never been, think of Home Goods as the home goods you would typically find in TJ Maxx and Marshalls (which are both part of the portfolio). There are 4 Home Goods in the Austin area and this particular Great Hills/Arboretum location is my favorite. To really understand the beauty of this store you need to drop by frequently, as they are constantly restocking. Currently they are exploding with lamps, but I guarantee you a new batch of something is on the way. read more

Even though I absolutely love this store, one of the employees can ruin it for everyone. This past weekend as I was leaving the store, one of your extremely impatient employees was so rude to me. He was bald with a pink long sleeve button up shirt. He had been collecting all the carts from outside and I was trying to put my cart away where it belonged and he kept huffing and puffing under his breath because apparently I wasn't moving fast enough. MIND YOU that I had my 1 1/2 year old in my arms along with being 9 months pregnant!!! So ya, I can't move that fast! I look over at him and he's so irritated with me that as I'm almost finished getting my Purse from my cart he aggressively pushed a wrack of carts around me ALMOST HITTING ME WITH THE CARTS!! I couldn't believe how impatient he was especially when he could clearly see that I was struggling in the first place. When something 'new' was going into the former Bed Bath and Beyond location, I did a doubletake. It's certainly been long enough. And this is a prime location next to several bus stops. Made for easy shopping, especially on the weekends. When it finally opened, I went in. I was eager to see if I could 'restock' my neighborhood inventory of easily nearby stores.Unfortunately, this was not the case. Several of the pieces of furniture looked like it was from a 'museum'. The neighborhood is upscale, but it's still Austin and also still in a recession. I wondered if the price tag would also work. This was more than I was willing to pay for items which were merely decorative and did not especially jump out at me re color/design. They should have taken a clue from the strategy of nearby Target. Or continued to look at Bed Bath and Beyond, which had only moved for additional space--and was doing quite well with pricing/product design. I left without buying anything. I love HomeGoods. I go here all the time, whenever I want to free my mind or see if I find anything cool for my apartment, basically any reason to go there I'll go there. The Texas HomeGoods are lacking, they are no were near as good as the ones in California, I have no idea why but the ones back home have way more stuff, everything and better quality too. Anyway my issue is not so much with the lack of stuff cause I still go, but the customer service here sucks!! It's consistently bad. Out of the Times I've been here I can't remember a single good experience I've had with the staff. I got a coffee table about a month ago and it took like 5 employees to figure out who was going to help put it in my car. Mind you it was small, I'm pretty small myself and took it out of my car and put it in my apartment by myself. And everything is an "ugh...I have to do that?" Any question is a huge bother to them, I've had employees walk away as I am thanking them for their answer (Ex. Today). I don't get it, I keep to myself and ask the simplest questions or just go to pay but scanning one thing is a hassle. I really believe they have Wal-Mart employees there. It really prevents me from buying more stuff and bigger items as it's a bother. read more
