If I could give 0 stars, I would. I ordered a shirt from their website: ( https://home-grown-hawaiian.myshopify.com ) and it did not get shipped out until almost 2 weeks after I placed the order. That wasn't the only issue here, I had a difficult time trying to know the status of my order, as I contacted their employees who work at the store in pearl ridge (808) 798-4511 and told me they have nothing to do with any online orders and that I would have to contact their warehouse. It doesn't stop there-- the employee I spoke to, could not even provide a number as to where and who I can contact regarding my order. I then emailed alteredink@gmail.com asking about my order, and hadn't been responded to after 3 days later, after I had sent them an email 3 times. I was emailed back by Ku'ulei apologizing, stating that my order will be sent out the first following business day as she contacted me back during a weekend. She said that she will be refunding me my shipping cost, as well as 20% off of my order, which she had failed to do. I am here again, having a hard time trying to contact this company and it's been almost 2 weeks. This order was supposed to be a Christmas gift. I finally received my package YESTERDAY (01/10/2020). Very inconvenient. I now reside in the mainland but still wants to support local businesses. Unfortunately, I will no longer be supporting this company. read more

I love almost everything they sell here! Baby books, baby clothes, toddlers and kids too! Women's skincare accessories clothing jewelry etc. baby blankets men's clothing, cookies, home scents, stickers and more! Small kine pricey for certain things, but that's understandable, after all they're made here in Hawaii! The only issue I had is with one of the ladies. There was a 25% off tag on one of the boxes that come with the little scented pillows. Apparently it was not included and it was also that last one. Instead of honoring what was displayed she said "people take off the sticker from the other sale item and put it on the one I picked out". Maybe I am assuming, but it definitely felt like she was directing that towards me, which I would NEVER do. I ended up paying full price for it with five other items. I do want to come back because I love the store itself, but it will be awhile because I don't like to be assumed like that. read more

I used to love this store, but I felt a bit offended today. We went in to buy my son a onsie the total was $10.99 I went to give my debit card and they asked for an id??? I have the pin for my card why do you need that? they asked no one else and I have never been asked any other time shopping here before. I did not have an id on me so the lady asked for a costco card or my facebook page. we just ended up leaving without buying anything. My sister and I also felt as though they were following us around thinking we were stealing. My sister thought that's why they asked for id. I'm really sad to feel this way in a store that used to be one of my favorites. This is just my opinion and i'm not 100% if that is what they were doing but that is how the experience felt. read more

I'm glad that Homegrown is at Pearlridge Center. It's exactly what Pearlridge needed. You can find great local products without going to a craft fair. It gives local artist and entrepreneur's the opportunity to show case their unique designs and the quality of their products. When ever I need a special gift I can always find something at Homegrown. read more

I absolutely love the products and lines they carry. Great staff for the most part. There was a worker there, though, with a green hair ponytail bun that accused me of shoplifting. Thankfully the colleague who rang me up (who was VERY nice) told him I have a receipt. But it was very rude for that green ponytail staff to say "YOU GONNA BUY THE BLANKET YOU JUST PUT IN YOUR PURSE???" (With him pointing finger at me) and had all ppl in the store looking at me. And I said "I just purchased this," I don't think he heard me because he was already was speaking over me, "well I.." then colleague said to him I'm clear. He just turned around saying "just checking," without excusing/apologizing and walked back to cashier. I kinda couldn't believe what just happened. Then he went ahead to talk real loud to a customer who was snacking with mask under his chin, saying "YOU GOTTA KEEP YOUR FACE COVERING AT ALL TIMES." -- and all people drew attention to the customer. The customer politely asked "oh I can't snack in this store?" - the staff "yea you can but you need to keep your mask on as much as possible" - to that, customer had some other questions; he wasn't being rude - just simply asking questions. And staff cut him off and said "I'm not here to argue with you," --- There's a way to communicate with customers without putting them on a spot like that and it highlighted stress of the staff more than their sincerity. It really disappointed me to see a great local owned store ran with this kind of mannerism. We are all familiar with how stressful customer service can be, and we're not unreasonable people. For the most part, people have grace but accusing and putting customers on a spot like that is no good. read more

It was the first time that my family and I walked into this store. The hat that read "SHOOTS" caught my husband's eye. He wanted to take a closer look. So we did. Beautiful store with beautiful items! It reminded me of the store I used to work at in the Pearlridge Mall, but it closed down. I'm disappointed with the sales associates. Not 1, but all 3. The one that was walking around the store saw us come in didn't greet us. I made eye contact and smiled. No smile or response still. The other 2 associates were behind the register. One was on her phone and the other was staring at the computer. They didn't bother to look up when we passed by. Why sell products of Aloha when the sales associates do not know how to give "Aloha?" Mind you, my husband and I was born and raised in Honolulu. So we local, not haole. I would not go back. read more

Usually love bringing my family to this store, & usually always get good customer service. But today was not it, my cousins who flew down from kona wanted to go shopping and decided to go there, One guy im assuming was maybe a supervisor or someone up there was the only one who greeted everyone and was asking ppl if they needed help, and who also told us about the "sale rack" right by the door. My cousin had about 4 shirts in hand and was looking at that rack when 2 of the women workers came rushing to the door like we were going to walk out with the items. One of them had an attitude and said ALOHA ARE YOU PLANNING ON PURCHASING THOSE in her sassy tone. So my cousin gladly gives it to her and says yes, but you can take it to the reg if you think we're gonna steal. And she takes it and continues to side eye us the whole time in the store. Finally head to the register & doesnt greet us, nothing. Just asks "cash or card". No personality at all! Hope she felt crappy after spending around $100 on shirts. But LOCAL STORE, AND NO ALOHA. i'm very upset with employees at this store! on sunday we walked in store to browse & purchase with my disabled son, due to his medical condition he is not required to wear a mask! i was told he needed to wear a mask or go outside and wait and i can shop for him? that's totally discrimination against a disable person! we all ended up walking out without buying anything! read more

It seems like this store is more about the business than ensuring a customer's satisfaction. They do not guarantee the return/exchange policy that is stated on THEIR receipt and gave me a really difficult time trying exchange an item that I received as a gift that had no gift receipt. Mind you it was not like I was trying to get any sort of cash back or refund, I was just trying to exchange for something else that I would be more satisfied with even if I had to pay a difference. I spoke with a worker earlier in the morning and she was of no help and couldn't help me at all. She specifically told me that if I had no receipt, I could only exchange for something that was the same brand & NEEDED TO BE THE SAME PRICE. That limited my options down to almost nothing. I tried to explain to her that there was nothing of the same brand and price that I liked but she pretty much straight out told me that there's was nothing else she could do and I would have to just stick with the item I got even though I CLEARLY was NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT PRODUCT (which is stated on their receipt). I ended up leaving the store but was still unsettled and bothered by the whole situation that I called the store asking for the store manager. I went back later in the day to speak with the store manager personally to hopefully get the situation resolved but I can honestly say that the interaction did not go as well either. The manager verbally told me that their policy is that all items MUST BE returned/exchanged WITH A RECEIPT and made it seem that I should have even been lucky that the worker was going out their store policy to let me exchange the item without a receipt. BUT I CERTAINLY TELL YOU THAT ON THE RECEIPT IT STATES AND I QUOTE "If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return or exchange it for up to 30 days from the purchase date with a receipt. Returned or exchanged products must be in the condition you received them. Items with a gift receipt or WITHOUT A RECEIPT CAN BE EXCHANGED FOR SOMETHING ELSE". He even went as far to where he made it seem like I was totally wrong and over reacting about a simple exchange being such a big problem because he had to tell me that he worked in retail for a really long time and that's how all stores run. In a way, he pretty much made me feel that he was right, I was wrong and I didn't know any better. But I've worked in retail myself and I can honestly say that when it comes down to it, it's about satisfying the customer so that they come back to shop at your store. Also most stores even though you may not have the receipt will accommodate you just as long as you exchange. Before this incident, I've actually enjoyed shopping in this store and have bought several items but now I don't think I'll ever be shopping here again. All I have to say is that if you're not going to stick with the policy that is clearly printed on the receipt than you should definitely get it corrected so this doesn't happen to another customer! read more

I am so glad this store exists and just wish they'd get an online presence so I can still order gifts (and beautiful clothing for myself) even when I'm not able to shop in person. The selection of t-shirts and hats is wide and I appreciate that they stock larger sizes and don't just cut off at XL. They have an extensive selection of jewelry as well in addition to pillows, books, postcards, and snacks. Sure, the prices are higher than the ABC Store or the kitschy made-in-China tourist aisle at WalMart but I personally love that I'm supporting individual artisans and local businesses (and, honestly, the prices aren't bad- a t-shirt cost me what I'd expect to pay and a stunning blouse which I will wear for years was around fifty bucks). All of the sales associates I dealt with were friendly and helpful and the store itself is bright and airy. Definitely my favorite place to shop when I'm visiting Hawaii. read more
