Not only were we left stranded at the ferry stop for hours due to a "van issue," but the backup tour companies that were allegedly sent over never showed. My group of 9 girls was left to fend for ourselves - we ended up finding a very nice taxi driver with a van to take up around instead. I had paid the full price of $450 upfront on Venmo, and afterwards the owner Jeffrey C. refused to issue a refund, even after weeks of texting. I would absolutely not recommend this company.

I received both a text and a phone call this morning from Amy at the Steamship Authority to let me know about the change in plans for my afternoon ferry. I call that great customer service. Amy even called me back to let me know that the blue line was operating. Not sure if I will get a spot on the next ferry off but I am hoping.

Yeah, it costs a bit more than some other ferries (such as the ones from Woods Hole) but is quite convenient. Simple but comfortable seats onboard on two levels. You can buy snacks & beverages onboard. Great views of the two harbours. Note: The Hy-Cruises ferry docks a few blocks away from where some ferries dock. Remember where to get the ferry for the return trip from Oak Bluffs. Hy-Line offers several parking options. Parking by the ferry docks is iffy but they have plenty of offsite parking at or near 183 Iyannough Road. Shuttle buses will take you to & from the ferry station. You can purchase parking online at the same time you buy the ferry tickets. IMPORTANT: GPS will misdirect you if you put in 183 Iyannough Road. After looking at map apps, I had the GPS take me to Adventure Cafe (225 Iyannough Road) and went down the side street by it, down Transportation Avenue. Looked for the Hy-Line Cruise Parking Lot signs and the parking attendants directed me to a parking spot.

The staff makes sure that you enjoy the five minutes across between Edgartown and Chappy. For some reason this seemed fun and it was more than fun... We pulled into the AutoCamp and it's really a really nice property. You'll park your vehicle in a lot and then check in at the lodge. The staff gave us our keys and a map to our airstream. Also filled us in on the entertainment and goings on at facility's. We loaded are gear onto the carts provided so we can move our gear around... Found our camper with ease. Outside our Airstream was table and fire pit should we have wanted to enjoy an evening fireside moment.. Wood was available for sale at the lodge. Inside was a queen sized bed with small tv for viewing. Our shower was great, I mean you're in an airstream yet it was hot and kinda powerful. Now it's summer time so you're gonna need AC or you'll broil in this thing. Yes on the AC and this blew cold air like an attic storm.. My thoughts are you could literally live in one of these if needed should the zombie apocalypse happen. Now the AutoCamp has some other ways to enjoy your trip. You can have a cabin / trailer or for a person whom enjoys a TENT Experience well they have that as well.. Can't say enough positive things about The AutoCamp cause we had a blast. Also note it's super close to the ferry docks so you can travel to Martha's Vineyard for the day. Will come back for another experience I guarantee it...

(I also appreciated the answer to one my son had -- 'I don't know, but let's find out...' leading to some on the spot research.) The whaling exhibit isn't too big so you don't have to allot a lot of time, but do linger to look at the small exhibit on the history of the attempts to preserved New Bedford's historic district, which is fascinating all by itself. That was actually the highlight for me. The little gift shop was nice and varied from what was available at the Whaling Museum and the souvenir stores, and in particular has a nice selection of books. This is definitely the place you should start at if you're doing a tour of downtown, but if you're pressed for time, start with the Whaling museum (now really a general history center) and then come here if you have time left over.

The price was great and the pace was very relaxing. I would recommend a walking tour with Jim if you are visiting Edgartown!
