The fact that he went to look up the MLS listing shows that he does his research, so we were confident that his quote would be fair and there wouldn't be any surprises. 2) A thorough job - he literally inspected everything that he could. We never thought he missed any part of the house. I just need to share my experience with who ever is trying to hire this company! I used Homeguard when i found the house that I liked...unfortunately the inspection was so shady, didn't mention all the problems that this house- now mine- had!! and of course I had to find out after I moved in...every time we discover something that needed fixing but was not mentioned in the inspection report!! from termites, to foundation cracks to crumbling chimney to absence of drainage in the backyard ...the list is long! I spent all my savings to fix what it needed to be fixed! Had I known that there are several issues with it from the supposedly "thorough inspection" I would never consider buying it!! read more

Homeguard inspection recently completed an inspection for a home I am looking to purchase. The inspector was on-time, neat, and very thorough. Manny completed a home inspection on a home built in 1950's 3 Bed 2.5 bath in Port Washington. He was very personable and eager to start work when he arrived on time. He started from the outside and worked his way inside the house. Checked everything from top to bottom and I don't think he missed anything. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to show us section by section all the things that may need repair or any type of red flags that might happen in the future. He really took his time inspecting- 2.5 hours. I love that he took ALOT of photos and it showed in his 50 page long inspection report that we received that same night. I highly recommend him and will use him again. Manny of Homeguard Home Inspections was absolutely a pleasure to work with. We used his services late January 2017 in Long Island (we closed on our home the first week of May 2017). He was very thorough and explained every detail as he was going through the inspection. He pointed things out for us to be aware of in case something came up with regards to that detail. He did not rush and took his time. One of the things I did like about him was he came on very short notice to do the home inspection. After our offer was accepted it coincided with a business trip and I needed to get the inspection done before my travels. Manny was able to accommodate the appointment on a Sunday morning as my travel was Sunday evening and I would be away for a week. For that I'm very grateful. He was very quick to turn around the most detailed report I have ever seen with so many pictures to document his findings. His recommendations were very helpful to us as well. It was my first time as a home buyer and we are so pleased we hired Manny to do our home inspection. Manny went through a 4500sf home and produced a 100 page report very fast - impressive! ....until we read it and found out that only a sampling of electrical outlets and lights were tested, the roof was inspected "from the ground", not all windows were operated, nor were the plumbing fixtures tested thoroughly. The report turned out to be a "template" report that was basically a photo album from his pictures, and did not add any value beyond what a lay-person could observe. We questioned the report and the response was "thats all i do, read the fine print of the agreement you signed" and denied us a timely in-person review of the report. At that point we realized why he wanted advance payment in full...HomeGuard completely scammed us. The top real estate agent in the area that referred him was embarrassed beyond belief and emphatically stated "i will never recommend HomeGuard again!" Nor will we. read more
